Despite his love for the outside grounds, the bitter cold had forced Felix to retreat to the warm indoors of the castle. He wasn't complaining, of course, the fires inside the caste had been lit, and the common room seemed quite toasty and warm. However despite the welcoming invitation his favorite armchair gave him as he strolled through the Hufflepuff common room, he decided that it would be more useful to go down to the library and maybe finish his homework, or should he write a letter home?

Gathering his things, he strolled down the stairs and out of the common room, the slight chill of the hallways hitting his face like a slap. The smell of ancient books and classic novels filled his nostrils as he sauntered through the doors of the library, only stopping to give a polite bow of the head in acknowledgment to the librarian, who smiled back warmly. He let his eyes graze the expanse of the library before he resigned to go and sit down at the table farthest from the door, so as to reduce the amount of unwelcome chill that seeped through from the corridors into the warmth of the library.

He might as well get himself comfortable, stripping off his warm layers, carelessly draping his coat over the chair in front of him, and spreading out his homework so that it took over the stretch of where nearly four other people could be sitting. Well isn't this just lovely? The library was quiet and peaceful, and Felix was more than content as he leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his hair, a small smile etched on his boyish features.
A/N: My deepest apologies for the short crappy writing, ive found myself caught up in alot lately, delaying my time to sit down and get to it. Will make sure my future replies are a little more thought through. 🙃

It was a known fact that the second-to-leftmost chair next to the window was the best possible seat in the Hogwarts library. In the wintertime, being close to the fireplace was a plus because of the warmth, but, much to the Ravenclaw girl's disappointment, magical fire still produced that disgusting smoke smell. By remaining close to the window, it distanced Calynn from the smell while still allowing her to experience the coziness and the atmosphere.

There was only one obstacle in between the Ravenclaw and her preferred study corner— the search for the elusive Defense book. It had already been half an hour and yet Cal was still tapping her foot in frustration as her eyes scanned the shelves. She had to use it for her project and if she didn't find it quickly then all of her work time would be over before she even got started with the reading.

After a good few minutes of looking, she finally caught a glimpse of what she was looking for. There it was, sitting right in front of her face with a bold, green cover. She grabbed the book from the shelf and turned the corner, moving at a pace that was perhaps a little bit too fast for a library.

Once Calynn had made her way through the labyrinth of shelves, she finally reached her spot of choice, only to be greeted with an unpleasant surprise. Someone had stolen her spot! Worst of all, he looked so at home with his belongings sprawled across not one or two but four whole spots. She grimaced. How rude did someone have to be to do that?

There was only so much time the first year could waste. This situation wasn't going to resolve itself. "Excuse me," Calynn tried to get the boy's attention, "Can you not take up four spots? There are other people who need to sit here too, you know." Her voice did not waver as she addressed him. Why would it? She was obviously the one in the right here.
Don't worry about it. This is also not a great response-

Felix had been enjoying the peace and tranquility of the library almost as much as he had been enjoying the comfort of his newfound spot. Maybe he'd make an effort to come here more often, just so he could revel in the peace of this cosy corner, where nobody would interrupt hi-

"There are other people who need to sit here too, you know."

Felix glared up at the newcomer, affronted, his pen poised from where he had been writing, and his pink lips parted slightly; he had been staring absentmindently at his parchment.

He paused to raise his eyebrows and stare at her. "Thats not a very convincing reason why I should move. I'm quite comfy here you know."

He lent back in his chair, letting his pen drop from his hand and roll accross the desk. He jutted his chin towards her, letting a playful smirk dance accros his handsome visage, and placing his feet upon the chair next to him; spreading his limbs as if the boy were intent on taking up as much room as was humanely possible.

The yellow emblem on his robes glinted in protest. What sort of hufflepuff behaviour was this? Then again, Felix wasnt a normal hufflepuff. He lacked generosity, in the fact that he was undoubtedly selfish. He was not habitatually kind, nor was he gregarious. In fact, he came close to hating people, whoever they were. In his opinion, he had never been cut out to be a hufflepuff in the first place. Yes, he might have done better in Slytherin, or Ravenclaw, where of which his traits aligned quite nicely, stereotypically even. He rose a hand to his eyes and shielded them, squinting with distinct mockery and glaring around the room with an air of playful innocence.

"I dont see any of those 'other' people." He feigned a look of innocence. "Seems like its only me who wants to sit down. Oh well." His voice, usually cold and dripping with an 'I-dont-want-to-speak-to-you-go-away' tone, rippled with a light, airy, frolicsome spirit. His eyes were soft at the edges, glimmering with a sense of enjoyment. Was he enjoying this? Taunting her? Most definetly. She might have been lucky to find him in one of his best moods; where he had no intentions of biting her head off, or contemplating what sort of poisons might turn her skin a nasty shade of green.

He stayed where he was, all the while his prideful expression unyielding as he slowly took in her appearance and the way her voice did not so much as waver as she defiantly spoke.

Now, that was the true definition of manspreading.

Calynn glanced at the boy's robes. How was he in Hufflepuff? The house was literally known for its generosity and kindness— two traits the boy appeared to lack. His actions lined up more with those in Gryffindor, Slytherin, or maybe even some of her fellow Ravenclaws. Her parents had given her plenty of warnings about boys becoming jerks during puberty but she had never experienced a more obvious example firsthand.

Calynn could feel her blood boil at the other boy's response. "He seriously doesn't care at all," the Ravenclaw muttered under her breath, her nose scrunched with indignation. Perhaps it was a reckless move but part of her hoped that he would be able to hear it. Cal's previously confident smile twisted into a satisfied smirk. Maybe that would bring down his despicable air of cockiness a notch or two because he could really use it.

She let out a sigh. Did he seriously not see her standing right in front of him, obviously looking for somewhere to sit? Calynn had thought her actions were clear but if he wasn't getting it then she would have to resort to her words. "Did I not just make it clear that I was looking to sit down as well?" The eleven-year-old's voice was dripping with self-righteousness as she made eye contact with the boy. She had framed her statement as a question but her tone suggested that it was meant as an accusation.

At this point, it would be a smarter (and easier) idea for her to walk away and find another place to sit. There were plenty of other seats to be had in the library including some that weren't even half-bad. If she was willing to choose any one of them then she could have easily gotten halfway through the reading in the time that she had wasted.

The Ravenclaw girl barely considered that plan before rejecting it. She was not about to let him feel the satisfaction of chasing her off. Absolutely not. She was going to stand her ground until he decided to scooch over or get up and leave. (As she grew acquainted with the boy, the latter option was looking more and more appealing.)

Standing as tall as she could in her Ravenclaw robes, the petite girl used all four feet and eight inches of her body to insinuate an aura of authority.

Felix might have let himself pretend he didn't hear what the girl had said under her breath, were it not for the mood he was in.

"Say that again darling? I didn't quite hear you"

A sense of amusement rippled across his features and he took his feet off the chair and set them on the floor, standing up to face her. He was about a head and a half taller than her, although that was expected since he was thirteen now, a year or two older than a first-year normally should be. She looked to be a first-year too, no older. She was small in stature; Felix fought the urge to smirk even further as she pushed back her shoulders and stood as tall as she possibly could.

"Did I not just make it clear that I was looking to sit down as well?"

Felix raised his brow in amusement. Well, she was quite headstrong wasn't she?

"Why how discourteous of me..." He began flatly. "Would it do you any good if I were to offer you a place...let's see...over there perhaps?" He pointed to the other section of the library, the one quite far away from where he was sitting, and which looked just about as cozy as the floor of the owlery.

"See...? I'm not at all as selfish as you may think sweetheart. I do care after all"

He let his gaze slip off her for a moment to glance at the librarian, who was eyeing them with a glint of suspicion in their eyes.

"Now go away." The coldness in his voice did not quite chase away the effect of the childlike words. Nevertheless, he waved a hand to dismiss her as he resumed his seat once again, this time without spreading his limbs exaggeratedly as far as he could.

"I haven't got such time for petty arguments, and we wouldn't want the librarian to kick us out would we now?

Without sparing her another glance, he flickered his eyes back down to his paper, hoping she wouldn't pester him further. Maybe she'd scurry away to another section of the library and leave him alone, that would be nice. Or maybe she'd shove his things to the side and sit down defiantly. Felix didn't know what he'd do then, whether he'd push her off [his mother would kill him if were to behave violently to a girl like that] or whether he'd bicker with her some more, maybe chuck a pencil or two in her direction. Whatever.
