Aurelia had recovered from her daze, or caught her breath, or whatever it was, and it spelled doom for Callie. The third year looked exhausted, truly; how many times over would she have fallen without Delilah's healing? But even if she was still on her feet, she had seemingly lost much of her sway on the match. Her Obscuro, like the one before it, was a weak shot, and though Aurelia failed to react at all, she didn't need to for the fabric to flap harmlessly past.

And when the Gryffindor retaliated with a spell of her own, the threatening crackle of a Flipendo, her attempted avoidance, really more of a stumble, came too late. The spell hit, and the audience held its breath, for it seemed gravity had increased its pull on Callie. But in came Delilah's spell, before she could fall, saving Callie from unconsciousness. Really, though, was it saving? Would it have been more merciful to let her end the duel here, instead of remaining on her feet, and only barely at that, to continue to be Aurelia's punching bag?

Then again, this was a duel. It certainly sucked, but letting a teammate fall could be the same as letting the victory slip away. Not that having a numbers advantage seemed to be doing much for the Ravenclaws, likely because Delilah was stuck on medic duty and their only attacker was out of gas. The momentum wasn't really tipped either way; Aurelia remained untouched, Callie looked like she would fall if someone blew hard enough, and Delilah had at least made up for her failed healing spell the attempt before.

"I forfeit." Those two words Aurelia would never have thought of saying, sounded clearly and confidently from her parted lips. There was no mistake. If her mother was here, all that would be upon her face would be a disapproving scowl. A pureblood, giving up her win on pathetic empathy. Shame. Lest Thellea Bezuidenhout was not present. The other spectating students were to judge her.

How long had it been? An hour? Two? The sweat gleaming against her fair skin from the candlelight above would suggest that the time spent on the stage was as long as she estimated. Fire and knockback jinx the younger Ravenclaw had thrown at her. The damage was only to be healed slightly for another bout of pain was brought upon her. It was torture for her, whilst Aurelia remained unscathed. The other girl could not aim a spell right as with grace the older manoeuvred out of the trajectory of each of the spells. The and the Gryffindor was left with her full vision and the lack of bruises to continue on the torture upon the poor girl.

Every hit came to the guilt that could not be surmounted. If this was the nature of duels, Aurelia would not be able to continue this duel - let entirely, with the sport. Her conscience would not let her, especially knowing that she had attempted - nearly succeeding but ultimately failing due to circumstance - to acquire one of the unforgivable curses in the recent Summer. The lack of empathy and sympathy was apathy, it set the right conditions for darkness to thrive and grow.

Chances were high that she could knock the weaker out of consciousness if she were to continue. But what would that make her? Darkness could not claim her mind again, she would not let it. What then after if she rendered her unconscious, would she spend another hour or two just to do the same with Delilah? This was just cruel a game, an ugly sport.

"I apologise for the pain I have inflicted upon you. I wish you the best." Aurelia said courtly before leaving the stage with much haste. The referee would not be spared a second. Shame upon the forfeiting fifth year. It might even appear that Aurelia was feeling ill. And they weren't far from the truth. Clutching her abdomen, she rushed out of the hall.

Conclusion
GRYFFINDOR FORFEITS, RAVENCLAW IS VICTORIOUS
This duel had established itself as one that might drag out right from the beginning. If Callie fell, something that felt pretty inevitable at this point, or if Ravenclaw could land one of those blindfolds, maybe it would speed up a bit. Those were all expected possibilities, things that would tip the scales in either direction. What Bridget had not anticipated was Aurelia's announcement of forfeit, surprise apparent on her face in the little o her mouth had formed.

It certainly took guts to walk off the stage like she did, all those eyes on her. Bridget couldn't figure out what the why was, especially not in the moment; the Gryffindor had lost her teammate, yes, but winning had still very much been in the cards. Whatever the case, she had made her choice, and that meant the match was over. With brief hesitation, just to be completely sure Aurelia was doing this, she stepped up onto the stage. "Well, that means Ravenclaw has won."

It felt weird, and whether the Ravenclaws would see it as a true win depended. Either way, it would count at the end of the year. "Well fought, you two. Make sure you see the medics." The last instruction was mostly directed at Callie, who might need Delilah's help to get that far. They were both leaving on their feet, and that was something.
