Unexpected meeting PV Simon and Charles FIN

It wasn't long before Haley was engrossed in her book, tuned out the conversations of the other students in the courtyard and peacefully reading the lines from her book. She enjoyed the fresh air in her nose and the moment of silence until she suddenly heard a familiar voice. Immediately a smile came to her face, she didn't have to look up to see that it was Charles speaking to her. Grinning further, she flipped her book closed and now looked to the blond who was on his way directly to her. "You don't look too bad yourself." She returned with a wink and let her second leg hang off the wall as well, so that she was now facing him directly. She laid her book, which she had received from her father, beside her. The fault in our stars - she had only just started reading it and it had become something of a tradition for her father to provide her with Muggle books on a regular basis.

Still smiling, she watched the tall blond standing there in his leather jacket, the kind he always wore, which at the same time motivated her to dig her own out of the closet again, taking his hands out of his pockets and reach for hers. She allowed the kiss, she knew it was only in a friendly way and since Charles had told her he was gay, she didn't even think about it. There was a kind of love towards him but not one in a romantic way.

"Oh Gosh." She spoke theatrically, slapping her hand over her heart. "You can't imagine how much." Even though she said it in a humorous way, she was serious. She would miss Charles incredibly, she hated the fact that he wouldn't be around in a few days and if she could, she would lock him in her dorm. Still, she paused inside for a moment and looked him in the eye. "Charles, I'm really going to miss you. If I could, I wouldn't let you go." She laughed nervously but meant every word as she said it.

Haley leaned into his arm, knowing he would be gone soon and it made her sad. She felt like she had found a good friend who would be snatched away from her again. She knew they would still be in contact but it was different to be able to see each other or communicate daily through owls. "Wouldn't you rather stay?" she asked now, the sadness clear in her voice as she looked straight out into the void.

Simon was in the Common Room with his one notebook opened and guitar on his lap, strumming out the same lines over and over, adding just a bit difference at the end. Hopefully it wasn't annoying any one around him but no one really seemed to mind as he tried to figure out the next part of the song he had been writing. He strummed a bit and looked down to his notebook as a first year Hufflepuff approached and Simon smiled a little in apology. "Sorry if I bothered you, mate. Want me to go elsewhere?"

The boy wasn't there to ask him to stop however, and instead handed him a piece of paper, stating that a ginger-haired girl had given it to him, ensuring that he got it to him. Simon opened it up. He knew a handful of ginger-haired girls at Hogwarts but was pretty sure this was from Haley Rose.

It was usually Simon that delivered little notes to Haley Rose asking to meet, so when he got one from Haley that day he smiled. It was especially nice that it came just after having spent some time with her. At least it didn't seem like the girl was growing tired of him. Perhaps their relationship really was on the mend.

Simon headed upstairs, stowing his guitar into his little separate room within his dormitory and check his hair quickly in the mirror. It looked good. Of course it did.

He headed down the stairs from the First Floor of the Castle to the Ground Floor and made his way to the Courtyard Corridor. He saw Haley and smiled at her choice in a leather jacket. She had appeared to try and carry a more 'bad ass' sort of persona lately but with what happened to her over the Summer at her grandfather's - she deserved such a title. She had been through so much and with each day she seemed to be getting stronger.

Simon was going to shout out to her but another approached. Simon didn't know him, but he knew he was from one of the visiting schools and it appeared he was going to talk to Haley. He didn't want to interrupt. Simon watched as Haley smiled widely, closing her book and got up as the boy not only kissed the back of her hand and then wrapped his arms around her. He paused in midstep, just sort of assessing the situation.

No need to make something out of nothing, but Simon could overhear Haley tell the boy that she was going to miss him and she wouldn't let him go if she could. Then she seemed to wrap herself more up in the embrace and Simon felt a sort of dropping sensation in his stomach.

Part of him just thought it best to walk off but that would only prolong things out further. Eventually he would have to ask Haley about who the boy was and what he was to her. No, he wasn't one to usually avoid conflict and today wasn't going to be the day to start that.

"Well, look at that...I seem to be intruding," he spoke up as he approached the two in the Courtyard. "Forgive me, but it appears your note must have been delivered to the wrong person." He looked to Haley with a flash of sadness and then over to the Durmstrang student. Simon took her note and tossed it over to him. The one Haley had written that read: "Hello Mister, if you have time and feel like it, I would love to meet you in the Courtyard. ~Hales"

Haley enjoyed this moment in Charles' arms, for it would be one of the last here. She smiled softly to herself as Charles returned her words. To outsiders, it might supposedly look like the two of them were a couple, but as the first lesson with Charles had said - be more chill - she was. She knew they weren't and she didn't worry about what some student who didn't even really know Haley might think. Because those who knew Charles knew he was gay and those who knew Haley knew she was with Simon. And she liked being with him and, above all, she was happy with him. But even if it wasn't really anyone's business, she secretly wouldn't be able to blame anyone who thought they were a couple.

As Charles tightened his grip on her, she leaned her head and looked around the courtyard when she suddenly saw a familiar face. It was Simon. She immediately began to smile broadly, obviously he had received her note and decided to come. She was happy to see him, but his face was anything but happy. With her eyebrows drawn together, she looked questioningly at her boyfriend, unaware at the moment of how Charles and she looked to Simon.

Just as she was about to greet Simon, he started talking about interrupting. Confused, she shook her head and the next moment looked at the familiar note he was now tossing to Charles. And suddenly something clicked in her head. It would never have occurred to her that Simon could really get jealous, but it certainly did. She wouldn't want to discuss whether it was justified now, since he himself was often a little very friendly with other girls, but she didn't want to start a fight. She would much rather Simon and Charles got to know each other and above all not hate each other.

"Oh no Simon, you're not interrupting!" she finally spoke and moved towards him, nodding to Charles who asked if it was her boyfriend. But quickly she averted her gaze again and looked Simon in the eye, it was a sort of apologetic look. "I'm glad you came." She continued speaking and strode towards him, she would take him in a hug if he would let her.

Feeling a little uncomfortable, Haley then cleared her throat and looked back at the blond boy standing beside them. "Simon, this is Charles, a good friend from Durmstrang. Charles, this is Simon, my boyfriend." She looked nervously back and forth between the two of them, hoping there wouldn't be an argument.

Haley seemed nervous somehow. She cleared her throat before introducing the two and while he did at least value that she called him her boyfriend, she still seemed a bit apprehensive in the situation. Maybe it was the way he came in so abruptly ,or maybe there was something to hide in it. Maybe he was the boyfriend and this other blond bloke was the 'good friend' but maybe she wished the roles were reversed?

In fact, he recalled the other day another from his own house saying he sat Haley off with another, a blond that was rather built from Durmstrang. Exactly how much time had the two of them been spending together? He was a little curious.

"Well, certainly one can comprehend my misunderstanding with the sweet words of regretful goodbyes and the close embraces." And now that he was looking at the two of them, he noted the similar look in appearance that they both had. A similar stature and similar jackets. Quite a close friend it seemed.

Perhaps he was being too sensitive with the matter, but he couldn't help but think about how Haley could go 3-4 months with avoiding him, and yet here she was forming this close bond with another. Maybe he had to get over that still, the distance the two had - the partial distance that he felt the two still had. Maybe this was more of a personal issue than an issue with the two people in front of him.

Even a blind man would have noticed the awkward mood and Haley was almost at a loss between Charles and Simon. Both were important to her, one a good friend, the other her boyfriend, and although in theory it would be so easy for everyone to get along, in practice it was obviously not that easy. Although Haley was visibly distressed at the first moment and tried to save the mood, she became annoyed at the same time when it didn't let up. Visibly defiant, she crossed her arms, pulled her shoulders back, and looked back and forth between the two boys with one eyebrow raised. Was Simon's comment really serious? That was all he had to say? Charles' question wasn't helpful either, she just gave him a look that said "You're not helping me with this," knowing full well that Charles was making a joke of it at that moment. Haley suppressed an eye roll and took one deep breath, but before she could say anything, Charles pushed himself off the wall and joined the conversation.

"Charles!" she admonished the blond boy who suddenly spoke of snogging and startled, she widened her eyes and looked at him again admonishingly with a look that literally screamed at him. But only a second later she was happy again, because he obviously tried to relax the situation. She really hoped that this information would calm Simon down a bit, because it would only underline that Charles and Haley were really just friends , but at the same time it bugged her that it needed this proof.

"Are we done with all this?" she asked by now, annoyed, looking between the two of them, and she was sure that the two boys knew exactly what she meant. "Charles and I have known each other since my first year at Hogwarts and have now used the time he spent here at Hogwarts for our.... Friendship." she explained even though she didn't feel accountable to anyone. "Simon and I have also known since my first year here at Hogwarts. Not only is he my boyfriend, but he's also my secret keeper and he's always there for me in other ways as well." she continued, concluding the round of introductions and also leaving no room for further questions.

"So Simon, if you don't mind, Charles could spend some time with us, since he's leaving again soon and I'd be happy to spend some more time with him in person." she now addressed Simon, her look no longer annoyed but her words honest. Still, she showed him with her gaze that he could also answer honestly and refuse the request at any time without Haley being angry with him

Okay, being gay still didn’t remove the fact that the two were squished up together without so much as a millimeter in between them in their close embraces. Being gay didn’t remove the fact that the two had stated such sappy sweet expressions in their regretful goodbyes. It also didn’t change the fact that Haley Rose had obviously been developing a close bond with the Durmstrang student, all while the same Haley Rose could go FOUR months not only distancing herself from Simon himself, but outright avoiding him.

And now what? She was asking him to not only be civil but to join the two of them? The note didn’t say that there’d be another there, one with smirks and sarcastic remarks.

Simon looked over to Haley as she asked if Charles could spend some time with them and he knew the visiting students were leaving. How was he to say no? Still, he had sort of been looking forward to some more time with just he and Haley – especially a meeting that she actually initiated.

“Yeah, fine,” he said as he glanced to her green eyes and then over towards Charles. A little bit of the cloud cover from above dissipated as some of the clouds moved, making a brief moment for the sun to cast down over the Courtyard and Simon pulled up the hood over him from his sweatshirt to provide some protection and knew it was only temporary.

"Did you enjoy your time at Hogwarts?" he tried to make Haley happy by engaging in conversation. He hadn't read up on other wizarding schools much and he never seemed to really come into contact with many of the visiting schools' students, but he was curious on their perception of Hogwarts. Was all the oddities that made up Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry standard magic stuff or was it peculiar even within the wizarding world? Did all other schools have moving staircases, moving portraits, hag attacks, and disasters at the dance?
