Cookie Decorating
The Great Hall was beautifully decorated by the House Elves. They always put the most effort into making the holidays throughout the year feel special despite all of the students being away from home. There was even falling snow from the ceiling that didn't quite get all the way down to the students before it disappeared. It was something that Willow was eternally grateful for. It gave a sense of normalcy and routine to the year that she desired.
Today she was assisting with the cookie decorating part of the Yule Week celebration that some of the staff had put together. Decorating cookies was one of her favorite parts, especially because she got to eat some of her mom's secret recipe cookies. Here, the house elves made some that were almost as good. Along a couple of tables were all the supplies that the students could need. There were platters of shaped sugar cookies (snowmen, santa hats, snowflakes, candy canes), gingerbread men, and gingerbread cookies tied together that could make mini gingerbread houses. There was every kind of sprinkle imaginable, small piping bags of different colors of icing, spatulas for smoothing out icing. For candy decorations there were gumdrops, chocolate candies, licorice, peppermints, candy canes, pretzels. It was a kid's candy shop dream laid out on the table.
On another table there were cookies for snacking like chocolate chip, peanut butter, chocolate crinkles, and snickerdoodles. There was water, pumpkin juice, and steaming hot chocolate. Pumpkin pasties and meat pies were also available for those who liked savory food. The staff had really gone all out for the occasion.
As people entered Willow would give them the same short speech. "Hi welcome! You see on these two tables here are where you can decorate, and that table over there has all the snacking food. You're free to eat the cookies you decorate, but please only make one or two to make sure there's enough for everyone. Have fun! I'm here if you need anything." The prefect might even be seen decorating her own gingerbread house later once all of the students had filtered in.❄ ERRAND INFORMATION ❄

outfit [x]
Juniper grinned as she adjusted the Santa hat on her head. Christmas break was coming around the corner, and with that came the festivities and events of Hogwarts. Since she would be doing these events, she wore a Christmas sweater that hopefully looked fine with her ratty jeans. She walked into the Great Hall, careful to avoid eye contact with Willow. She still felt guilty when she saw her, even if she *technically* did nothing wrong. Instead, she walked over to the tables where the cookies and decorating things were and pulled up the sleeves of her sweater.
She got to frosting, wondering where @Ari Gwild was. She didn;t see him much, but she remembered him from the ball. She wondered if he would be staying at Hogwarts or going home like Juni was. She brushed her hair away, trying not to use her hands as they had frosting on them. However, she wasn't meant to be a baker. But it was okay. Even if so far her little gingerbread house was... a terrible mess.
"Bahaha, looks like a 5 year old did it. Then again, I could really pass as one because of my height." She chuckled and continued frosting, sneaking some candies in her mouth as she did so.
"Gahh! No... the frosting is drippinggg" She quickly shoved some candies on the dripping frosting to make it look better. It looked worse. "Masterpiece." She said, watching her creation slide apart slowly. Very slowly.

INTERACTING: @Willow Anderson
WC: 375Heh, Cody might not be a big fan of Christmas, but it was his family's traditions, and he would assume Juniper would be celebrating it. As far as Cody knew, it was only him and Willow who were practicing Wiccans. But, he still had a tainted relationship with Willow. If Cody were to even look at her, he'd appear grouchy in a way. How dare she give him two detentions... even if both times he deserved it; starting a duel AFTER a Prefect told him NOT to, and literally breaking into a greenhouse.
His outfit today would be of a rugged letterman's jacket, a white shirt under it, faded jeans, square glasses, and black shoes. That was it. Simple. Easy. But he would be there for his best friend... and cousin, who he got into detention as per the greenhouse. Truly, Cody was sorry about it, but maybe it was a little early, as Cody walked in, holding a jar of applesauce, handmade, for Juniper. He knew how much she loved it.
But now, Cody had to go make himself a gingerbread house. He looked at the stuff provided, picked out black colored bat sprinkles, black and purple icing, and the cookies to make a gingerbread house.
He started by biting off edges, trying to make a roof on the cookies, then narrow down the centers. He would repeat that process once more, before grabbing the black icing, and making a window frame out of it, and coloring it in with purple icing. Rest of the cookie was colored in with the same black icing.
Now, for the bats. He threw the bat sprinkles all over the table, not caring what happened. After all, bats were everywhere. That was Cody's hope.
His attempt to a stand up haunted gingerbread castle was lame. Clearly. By appearence, it was leaning, too much icing was stuck on one side of it, weighing it down.
He sucked at it, then again, did he really try? Perhaps since it was the celebration of yule, he would pay Willow a kind heart. "Willow. I apologize for being so mean, so stupid, and so ignorant. Can you forgive me?"
He would then glare softly at Juniper and Ari in a playful tone.

Cookie Decorating
Interacting: @Willow Anderson / Mentioning: Cody Stephenson AKA Some Elf
If Cain were to be completely honest, he came only for the scent of cookies and the possibility of eating one. He was as much a fan of the holidays as any kid, though it carried a little sadness for him personally, but he wasn't going to let that show. He bowed politely at Willow's greeting, "Thank you, um, okay, I'll just make two." Since there was a limit he couldn't sit here all day making cookies like some elf, speaking of which he nearly knocked into one but stopped himself short before walking around the- younger?- boy and found himself a table by himself. There Cain sat, rolling his sleeves past his wrists so he wouldn't get frosting all over them.
It was there on a napkin that Cain carefully decorated two gingerbread wizards with candy decorated hats and wands, sprinkles neatly laid out in patterns over their sweet frosting robes. It was a good thing he was only making two, if he were to spend this much time on any more he'd be here for a week. He straightened his back once he was sure they were perfect, rubbing his eyes under his glasses to relieve himself from his unblinking stare. Come to think of it, maybe it was a waste to make such perfect cookies and eat them both himself? He'd keep one and give the other one to someone else...
His eyes landed on the one who coordinated this whole event. She was just as perfect as anyone, the event wasn't full yet and she wasn't too busy that he'd worry about bothering her. "Here, this one is for you as thanks." Cain set the cookie neatly before Willow on a napkin, it's gumdrop eyes looking blithely up at her with it's candy smile. "Happy Yule." He paused. "Or whatever." It wouldn't be said that Cain wasn't inclusive to magical creatures, witches and wizards and their myriad of beliefs, though he wasn't going to take the time to list every single one.

XXXXThe Great Hall was truly a sight to behold. Wonderfully and masterfully decorated, the house elves had truly gone all out for the occasion, with plates piled high with cookies and decorations plastered upon walls like a picture of the season. The rest of the month was certain to be just as wonderful, with Yule fast approaching and a holiday surprise each day. Nothing compared to this, the wistfulness of the decor and the sheer skill displayed in the way that decorations were laid. A pinnacle of the holidays.
Gingerbread and sugar, splayed on the table like patients ready for their examinations, prepped for the surgery that would take them from plain to iced in moments. A frenzy of little student hands, all over each and every cookie and grabbing desperately, greedily, for frosting, would be the doctors.
Maggie, for one, couldn't wait. She was alone, now, wandering into the Great Hall that was steadily filling up with a stream of students like water down the falls, desperate to decorate to their heart's content. Nothing said Yule quite like this, honestly. With each and every passing day, Maggie was finding more and more similarities between the two worlds, Muggle and Magical.
Sitting down at a place in front of a mound of cookies, Maggie reached out a small hand for a sugar cookie, shaped like a snowman. This would do. Gingerbread was gross, to her, the flavor too much. Sugar was far superior.
Beginning to frost, Maggie first piped on a smattering of red. Maybe he was an alternative guy, had red skin, like that guy in the Marvel movies. Except that he really just came out looking an awful mess, like he was all bloodied up. "Got yourself into a fight, have you?" Maggie asked softly, dropping the little cookie back down to the tabletop before her and reaching for bits of the crushed candy cane to sprinkle overtop. "Best have won."WC: 323

Being artistic or creative was never part of Liana's personality or skill set. She didn't really enjoy painting nor drawing nor even adding ornaments to something - functionality was always preferable over aesthetics. Various sweets and baked goods weren't too enticing either - she always felt weird after eating sugar, getting sudden boosts of energy that unavoidably morphed into tiredness and confusion, occasionally even headache.
So what was she doing in the Great Hall today, with students gathered to decorate cookies? This was a question Liana herself couldn't answer. For the past week or so a strange heaviness was expanding in her chest, pressing her down to the ground more and more with every passing day. Reading books or trying to learn new spells, the two things that usually made her happy, failed to lift her spirits. Short of going to the Hospital Wing or to some upperclassman to ask for a Cheering Charm, she didn't have a clue of how to make herself feel better. And so she walked around the castle purposelessly for the second day in a row. It was the pleasant smell emanating from the dining area that made her just curious enough to take a peek at what was going on.
Somehow she found herself at one of the long tables, sitting in front of a large platter with featureless gingerbread men. The redhead picked one up and examined it, trying to come up with a way to embellish its looks. Finally, she reached for blue frosting and created a jagged scarf around the cookie person's neck. Then, struck by a sudden inspiration, she took a light brown, chocolaty-looking frosting and drew stripe on the scarf. Next the girl selected what seemed to be the most auburn-looking red she could find and drew hair around the cookie's head, letting some of it spill onto the shoulders. It wasn't very neat, but it was still kind of recognizable as hair, so it had to be good enough. Two drops of green colour created the figure's eyes, and raspberry-pink upward-curved line accounted for smiling lips.
Having finished her sad masterpiece, the young Slytherin looked at it for a few long moments. A happy red-haired gingerbread lady, clad in blue and brown. The sight somehow made her feel worse than she did before coming to the Great Hall. She put the cookie back on the platter and got up. That was enough of artwork for today.

Cookie Decorating
Cookie decorating, yes, that was an easy way to get Dee's attention. Not for the artistic aspect of it, no. She didn't have many artistic ambitions, and even less talent for it. In fact, her attempts at art often sparked a discussion of whether it was abstract or not - no matter what she had tried to depict. It belonged in the category of "Is this art or should I throw it out?" Putting more sugar on something that was already 50% sugar, however, that she was on board with, and thus when she entered the Great Hall, there was a spring to her step that made it resemble skipping.
Dee liked the holidays, generally. She was no Christmas fiend, but they usually evoked warm fuzzy feelings, stemming from happy memories of presents and candles, celebrating with her parents, trying to force their cat into a red-and-green collar, with usually not all that much success. This year would not be as simple, but she'd gotten good at ignoring this fact. She'd even donned a pair of red reindeer antlers to mark the occasion.
At Willow's instructions, she gave her fellow prefect a sloppy salute to signal that she had understood, although at the same point, a small pout pulled down her lips. Two cookies? That was the maximum? Who wanted only two cookies? But, fine, she would just drown two cookies in decoration then, and leave it at that.
Snatching a chocolate chip cookie off the nearby snack table as compensation, Dee took a bite, then tried to decide where to sit. There weren't many familiar faces about, but she'd never been opposed to meeting new people. Perhaps she'd let fate decide. "One," she started counting, pointing at a redhead who she recognised as a younger Ravenclaw, "two," the short boy next to her, "three, four, five," Willow and the boy currently talking to her, "I once," oh, that girl was already leaving, "caught an imp alive." Her finger landed on a girl with chin length, wavy brown hair. No one she'd talked to, no one she knew. Time to make a new acquaintance, then.
Settling down into the seat across the table, Dee barely caught the softly spoken words, then looked at the bloody little snowman. "That must have been some fight," she remarked, popping the rest of the cookie into her mouth before reaching out for a Santa hat shaped sugar cookie herself. "Probably fought off a terrifying monster. With very large teeth." With the help of icing, she drew uneven eyes and a large, lopsided mouth onto the hat, then stared at the available decorations, head tilted to one side in thought. "Which of those resemble teeth the most, what do you think?"

Cookie Decorating

The Great Hall, the whole castle really, but the Great Hall especially was beautifully decorated to reflect the season. The holidays were always such a wonderful time of the year for Lizzy. Wandering over to the tables, she admired the rows of cookies, decorations, and more. She hadn't thought that the school would do things like cookie decorating, but once again, Hogwarts had surprised her.Open to Interactions

Upon seeing the flyers on the bulletin board advertising the activity, Lizzy immediately decided she would participate. She had done it back home occasionally for the holidays, but she really liked to bake in general, so it was never just the holidays where she found herself frosting cookies.
Looking around for an empty spot in which to begin decorating, Lizzy's eyes fell on a girl decorating a cookie all by herself. She looked to be about the same age as Lizzy, and her robes indicated that she was a Slytherin. She decided to go create a "masterpiece" over by the other girl. Who knew, Lizzy might even make a new friend over the frosting and sprinkles.
"Hi," she began, "My name's Lizzy. Do you mind if I decorate over here with you?" While waiting for an answer, Lizzy began to gather some of the supplies she would need to make the perfect cookie. If the girl asked her to move, she could always just take the supplies with her. Among the items Lizzy collected were a frosting tube, some sprinkles cut into shapes to correlate with the holiday season, and a sugar cookie. That's when she noticed that the Slytherin also had a sugar cookie over the gingerbread ones. "You like sugar cookies over gingerbread ones as well?" Many people Lizzy had encountered always said gingerbread was higher ranking. How they had come to that conclusion, she would never know.
There was another girl that was next to the Slytherin that Lizzy didn't see before, a Ravenclaw. She asked a question about which decoration most resembled teeth. There was a whole bowl full of tiny gummy candies shaped into triangles. They resembled teeth pretty well, so Lizzy tried to be helpful. "Here you are. I think these look like teeth pretty well," she announced, while passing the bowl to the Ravenclaw.

Cookie decorating, while he could see the appeal, was a skill Robert did not grasp. When he heard that the Great Hall would be filled with students putting all manner of things onto baked goods he had instinctively ruled it out of his daily routine. However, after twice falling asleep in his books, he couldn't argue that he could use a break. Cookie decoration it is then.
So there he was. Sitting at one of the more vacant parts of the table, piping bag in hand, and a look of concentration fixed on his face. "Why does it look like an angry garden gnome?" Robert would mutter under his breath attempting to pipe a smile onto a gingerbread man, ultimately, resulting in a shaky mess with the distinctive similarity of an angry garden gnome with a broken arm and a twisted foot. Leaning back in his chair with a sigh he looked at his creation with a puzzled look. He could admit breaking the gingerbread was his fault, however, how was he supposed to know that you had to align the bits perfectly before setting them with frosting. "Fine... When you put it like that you have a point." his muttering would continue.
Robert put down the bag for a moment and took a second to clean out his glasses with the hem of his hoodie. He was dressed in an oversized, indigo hoodie with a print of a realistic reindeer saying "Hey Santa, I see you over deer". A gift too comfy to get rid of, and yet just awkward enough for him to question wearing it in public. Thankfully, Hogwarts was not as populated this time of year, but, it was still a stretch. Around him there sat different groups of students who spent the holidays at the school, much as he had chosen to do. His eyes drifted over to a group not far from him and caught the mention of a monster with large teeth. He glanced down at his own creation and frowned. "Well... It's not far off." he would admit before placing a gumdrop nose on the poor gingerbread gnome and facing the group. "What do you think? Maybe we could have our cookies battle it out?" he would say, sliding his creation across the table.

Cookie Decorating
Sunday 19th December 2021
After those few months being away from her family for the first time, Lily would probably have felt homesick, but Hogwarts was so magical and beautifully decorated during Christmastime that she couldn't really miss home. Today there was a cookie decorating activity in the Great Hall and Lily couldn't wait to go! She was so excited cause she never did this at home: Jesse hated it, her mum was working too much and her grandparents were always too busy baking hundreds of cookies and had no motivation to decorate them afterwards.
But Lily loved drawing and painting. "How much harder can it be to draw on a cookie than it is in a sketchbook?" Lily thought as she entered the Great Hall. She was welcomed by a Hufflepuff with a prefect badge who gestured to the tables while explaining the activity. She finished her speech by "Have fun! I'm here if you need anything."
Lily smiled and hopped over to an empty seat. She thought a gingerbread house may be a bit too hard for her first try so she went straight for the cookies and selected two, as the Hufflepuff prefect had said, a candy cane and a snowflake.
Then she stared amazed at the bags of icing, sprinkles and candies available on the table, unsure where to start. She looked around at the people chatting and decorating their cookies for inspiration. "Well, let's do this", she whispered to herself before getting to work with a simple red and white design on her candy cane.
