I'm talon you, owl bite!
To the normal human ears, the screeches and hoots would sound like the everyday commotion of feathered creatures in the owlery. In truth, Aurelia's patience was growing thin on the ever-challenging Aspen. Despite finding middle ground communication wise, Aspen still was adamant not to do anything asked for unless a factor was in for her advantage: food and scratches. The screeches was simply the bout of verbal abuse thrown at her pet, as a result of much frustration, the product of vigorous training.

Less than a week was left. Aspen had learnt the tricks, the only issues was wether or not the stubborn bird would perform when the time came. And Aurelia certainly didn't know. As an eagle-owl, Aurelia was larger than her pet, who was already considered to be massive. That gave her a factor of natural dominance to assert on Aspen without much effort. Yet to request for the great-horned owl to fly form one point to the other proved to be quite a feat.
To the eye of a normal human being would be a display of dramatic flapping of two owls. No biting or claws but an exaggerated squabble between two birds. A rare sighting of such 'natural' interaction of two owls.

A kid in love. It is probably fair to say pepper sprays and generous amount of chilli powder on top of both corneas would be better than witnessing the girl with bangs squeals in excitement and full adoration every time a certain Gryffindor casually entered her field of view, not even doing anything important worth noticing, merely breathing and existing. Most of her energy was drained just from how often her cheeks turned into the reddest crimson shade, don't imagine it because it sounded terrifying as if she were about to burst any moment. In this case, had she suddenly exploded because of the infatuation intensity that kept growing within, it wouldn't be a gruesome scene and more of a 'glitters, rainbow metallic things, candies, chocolates' type of combustion.
Living in an unsafe place, where doomsday is just around the corner, it was like waiting for the time to sleep on her six feet under. Searching for one edible food among a sea of wastes could be a tall order, but at least she could remind herself that there was one good thing in dispersion of the turmoils -not that he is a food, of course-. And that one good thing made her smile, gave her one other reason to wake up the next day, gave her hope, realizing how lucky she was compared to others.
Looking back at Aurora's track record of come and go short term crushes, or what some people might know as the white hair bunch, they were not worthy enough to be written on a letter to her tea time muggle friend. The first person who 'witnessed' the girl's talent to be a magician, though Aurora insisted that it was merely an accident, blame the wind. Naomi would be ecstatic to know how the boarding school boys compared to the boys back home. Hopefully, Aurora's exaggeration would do the justice. The Nicholas in her eyes is a hundred times much better than the original one, and that's for sure.
A floral decorated envelope, probably scented as well, was brought to the circular stoned wall tower filled with things no one in their right mind hoped to touch. Excrements, decomposed rodents, not the best place to hang or have a picnic, though the highest floor has the reputation to be a great place to watch the sunrise for the morning folks. The owls, fluffy and terrifying creatures, quite barbaric if you ask her. Having a bird as her house symbol, none of the countless experiences with owls were pleasant. Happy, the family owl, loved to feast on her fingers playfully whilst the unknown monstrosity broke her middle finger back at the ball.
"Happy Grumpy, sir! Deliver this letter and don't bite, that's all goodbye!" If only she fought the urge to turn her head to the left, she would never have to face a familiar yet strange looking owl. That owl. "Wait a minute-" Birds usually looked the same, so were bugs. But there was something about this owl that could stop her mid-walk. Significantly bigger than the others just like the one who attacked her, casually 'talking' with the owl beside it, and it has a ring?. Ever since the middle finger incident, she had little trust on the species, especially the one with suspicious behaviour, which was every owl except her family's. The biggest regret was her failed attempt to find at least one characteristic of the finger breaker. Still keeping a great distance, she said the words, "Little dove", just to see if it would respond to that peculiar nickname that American guy gave his owl. Revenge was not her intention, she just wanted to know whether it was a pet or something beyond that. It's a magical world after all. Nothing would be senseless. The letterReducioNovember 16, 2021

With the upcoming talent show nearing, the urgency to prepare nagged at her constantly despite her ever-busy schedule. Aurelia had signed into the upcoming talent show with Aspen as her talent. Now, struggling to teach her pet, it could have proved much easier to have signed up for an easier skillset to show off in. Being a pureblood child usually meant having a multitude of hobbies forced upon one's shoulders. Aurelia knew the violin and the piano, albeit a little rusty. She knew both the basics of waltz and a few other dance forms. Yet she chose Aspen. The owl had torn one of her appendages not too long ago simply because she was hungry.
The compliant child-Aurelia was much easier to teach than the stubborn owl it would seem.
<<Fly.>> The Eurasian eagle-owl ordered in a coo, with wings flapping to gesture.
<<?>> Aspen would ask.
Oddly enough Aurelia understood vaguely. Owls did not have a language with direct words, yet the sounds were enough to make of a question or a command. The entrance of a student into the already commotional owlery would not be acknowledged.
<<Fly. Meat.>> Aurelia would try again. Owl communication lacked its complexities.
Finally, extending her wings, Aspen would take off, but not towards the end of the room but out of the window, to her chagrin. Aurelia would not give chase. For all she would let it be, it was a communication issue. Skills did not appear within a day, she needed more time.
"Little dove." Oddly enough, the name was responded with the turn of her head. It was a pet name her betrothed bestowed upon her animagi form. Owls could turn their heads almost entirely. Yet, it felt weird doing so, as if her neck could snap. Her bright yellow gaze was met with the other girl's darker eyes. Crap. This was the girl from the ball. Owleia had attacked the girl after noticing the pepper spray she was arming herself with. Broken her finger in the process.
She was alone now, with no other human in the owlery. She did the most reasonable thing. The wide expanse of her wings, she would take off in an attempt to flee and avoid confrontation.

The owl turned its head around almost 180 degrees which was both fascinating and terrifying. Aurora’s eyes widened to the fact that it responded to the call, to that nickname that the American boy used to his owl. She didn’t expect it to happen, it was more of a routinity to say little dove to all owls. And now it acknowledged the nickname, she didn’t know what to do next. Hurting the bird was never the plan. Maybe a little bonk on the head, but that was it. Traumatised was more fitting, the memory of the pain she felt on her middle finger suddenly came back and it just made her shiver.
Then it tried to fly away, and Aurora, being an impulsive and curious slash annoying twelve year old kid, tried to run and grab the owl with all her might without even thinking of the consequences she would have to endure next. “W-WAIT! DON’T RUN AWAY YOU OWL!” Owls are predators, they are much stronger than she’d ever be. One scratch by its talons, she would have to say ‘hello broken fingers my old friend’. She obviously didn’t know how scary that flying creature can be. Its beak is designed to tear their prey. And right now, she was the prey.

The last time they met, Aurelia had broken her finger. Perhaps this girl was not out for vengeance. Aurelia didn't want to know if the vibrantly coloured haired girl still had those sprays in her pockets. She didn't stay to find out. Then, she had Hadrian as a human to look out for her, but now she was alone, sure she could easily overpower the girl, but violence could easily be avoided in this scenario.
Just a short second when her talons left the perch of the window sill, Aurelia heard the other girl call out violently in protest of her departure. Then all so forcefully, she felt hands close around on either side, tugging her away from the momentum which was about to take her off into the skies. Albeit an owl, it still felt no less uncomfortable to be grabbed so harshly. A loud shriek she sounded in surprise.
This girl was clearly out of her mind to handle an owl in such a manner. Regardless of the fact that Aurelia was still a witch, she didn't appreciate it being touched rather inappropriately. What did this crazy girl expect? So Aurelia extended her razor-sharp talons striking instinctively. Hands off crazy girl.

Aurora would try to grab, a little harshly. The sudden impulsive decision caused the owl to shriek, perhaps she hurt the poor owl, but before she could let go and possibly undo her insurmountable mistake, it attacked back. Its talons sinked deeply into the flesh of her left cheek. The shock came first, then followed by an unbearable sharp pain. She touched her cheek, saw the blood on her hand then let out a panic shriek. At that moment, all she could think of was to add pressure. So she did, pressed her hand onto her cheek. She swore she could taste the metallic hint, either the wound was that deep or it somehow entered her mouth. Honestly she didn’t know which one was worse, the broken middle finger or this nasty scar. She was lucky it didn’t hit her eye or her vision would be gone. Though, nothing was possible to be healed in this magical world, imagine the panic she would be in to lose a sight.
She was a witch, one should be able to heal herself. Unfortunately for her, healing spells were not being taught in either first and second year. She was no prodigy that could learn higher level magic nor did she have the brain capacity to do so. She looked at the owl with teary eyes, “I’M SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN TO HURT YOU” It sounded almost like a shout and a whisper combined together in one sentence, it hurt so much to even move her mouth. Slowly stepped back from where she stood but ended up plopped down on the cold and probably dirty floor of the owlery, crying her eyes out. Damn you owl.
