[font=Book Antiqua]"Hard as ice and with the composure of a Swedish Short-Snout, is that not so?" chuckled Oleana. "Well, your father turned out fine at Hogwarts, I think you will too. Mind you, it is no Durmstrang but-..." she stopped herself, paused, and then smiled. "Iväg nu, mitt norrsken1." Robert heard his mother's words ring in his mind as he stepped into Hogwarts' Great Hall. It wasn't that he hadn't been warned that Hogwarts could be intimidating, and many of the things in the hall were familiar to him. Be it the moving pictures that blanketed the walls, or even the thousands upon thousands of candles floating in midair, these were all familiar to him. Then again, he doubted he had seen thousands upon thousands of candles in his lifetime. It was the sheer grandeur of it all. The Students, the professors, even the headmaster, all looked so large as he moved with the rest of the first years up to the front of the Great Hall. Frankly, it all made Robert feel a little sick.
Following a speech he could not hear over the sound of his own heartbeat, the names began to be called up to the sorting hat. As the students were called and sorted into one of the four houses, their tables rang out cheers and banging. Meanwhile, Robert's heartbeat pulsed out to the very tips of his ears, he could barely hear himself think.
Thump... Thump... Thump...
What if he wasn't called? What if this was all a dream, a nightmare from which he could not wake up?
Thump... Thump... Thump...
If he pinched himself, then maybe he would wake up. Maybe the noise was all a storm outside and the clapping was actually the rain rattling his windows.
Thump... Thump... Thump...
What if-
"Robert Shilling".
There it was. Robert had not even realized that he he had closed his eyes during the sorting. The headmasters voice cleared his thoughts and with a deep breath, everything became as clear as a winter's morning. He sat down, and felt the sorting hat being placed on his head. Almost immediately he heard a sly voice whispering in his ear.
"In my view, Robert Shilling, you've learned to be cunning and possess quite a bit of ambition...You have the potential to be great in Slytherin... And yet... No. The answer is obvious: RAVENCLAW!"
The roar emanating from the table where all the students with blue accents on their robes sat was deafening. Robert couldn't help but feel a smile creep up on him as he walked over and took his seat next to some of his new housemates.
"Aye Mum... I think I'll be fine."

Vera stood anxiously fiddling with her grandmother's ring that was perched on her right hand. She peered over the shoulders of fellow first years as she watched the sorting hat bellow the four different houses: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. Vera was brimmed with excitement, after having rode on the Hogwarts Express for what felt like ages, she couldn't wait to finally be settled into her new home.
As she watched other first years sit down with their new houses, Vera pondered where exactly she might be sorted. To be quite frank, she didn't really know. Her father had been sorted into Slytherin all those moons ago due to his work ethic and ambition. However, she didn't find it to be a right fit. She never was truly entertained with the idea of school and never put too much effort into anything except the games and adventures with her younger sister. Through this she was also able to eliminate Ravenclaw, her lack of affection for the wisdom and education eliminated that as well. She was at a loss of where she would be sorted, whether it would end up being Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. Vera, in the blink of an eye, eliminated Gryffindor for her lack of courage. She was always immature and childish and she was constantly told that she "needed to grow up." She feared the simple things, such as the dark and throw up. With the other houses eliminated, she felt that Hufflepuff would be a quite a good fit for her. Just for her key traits of loyalty and kindness.
After a handful of her peers had been sorted, her name was called and she approached the stand hesitantly. Ironically, she was not afraid of the talking hat that covered her eyes. She was blinded from the rest of the hall and the watching eyes of her classmates. The hat pondered aloud.
"Vera Knightingale. Yes quite a strange one. Unique, constantly referred to as the 'Black Sheep' amongst your peers in school and at home, I see. Loyal, I can't say I'm surprised you defended your few friends, a desirible trait. No desire for the academics, I see... Far more interested in the world in front of you. I have the perfect spot for you... GRYFFINDOR!"
The hat was lifted off of her head and she could've sworn she saw the lion banner wink at her as her mouth curved into a wide smile, baring all her teeth. She stood up and without hesitation approached her new family: Gryffindor. She sat down amongst the other Gryffindors as she gazed down the long table, no one she felt quite like her. However, she couldn't wait to see where this new adventure took her.

Eve walked through Great Hall's doors. She was very nervous. This was ger first years.Students were looking at her and it was very scary as no one ever looked at her like that. She walked with other students. She saw the sorting hat and 4 badges of Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Slytherin. Eve's parents and one of brothers are Slytherins and her sister and brother are Hufflepuffs. For first she thought that sorting hat will put her into Slytherin or Hufflpuff.
Eve saw other first years who already were sorted into their houses and are happy. She was waiting for her name for her moment to be sorted. She was impatient to see which is going to be her new home. She wanted to met her other classmates. Then suddenly she heard her name ''Hopper Eve''
Eve walked and sat down on the chair and after a moment the hat already was on her head.It covered her eyes.she wasn't afraid of talking hat,but where will it put her.
''Hmmmm, very interesting, very.I see,I see bravery,I see you are impatient. It's hard to decide very hard''
''Please Slytherin,Slytherin''
''No,no,you are too kind to be there.Better be...GRYFFINDOR!
And after hearing that name that word,Eve was kinda upset to be sorted into Gryffindor, but not into Slytherin or Hufflepuff, but she smiled and walked into Gyffindor table, she sat down and started to met with her new friends. She was very happy to be in Hogwarts.
Eve saw a girl sitting right next to her and she asked her name. The girl also was a fisrt year Gyffindor.

| ── | Draven couldn't say he was surprised. As soon as the hat had landed on his head, it had bellowed 'Slytherin' from the top of its lungs. The boy had spent a few agonizing minutes on the train, wondering what would happen if he got in any other house. Hufflepuff would have earned some chuckles from his family. Gryffindor would have labeled him as a himbo for the rest of his life. So in a way, there were really only two 'respectable' choices. And the hat had spared him a great deal of embarrassment. Thank you, he thought. The hat gave a gracious 'hm' as he set it down, fingers caressing the worn fabric one last time. Draven knew from his mother's tales of the school where to sit. The mass of silver and gray students waiting in the corner of the room, clamoring over one another, pumpkin juice and pastries exchanging hands as cheers erupted. He was one of the last students to get sorted, and as such the applause which had been so thunderous at the beginning had died down. Making his way over, he slid into an empty space with a relieved sigh. The hard part was over. Now he had a path, finally. He didn't eat much, picking at the delicious mountain of food before him. His appetite had disappeared on the train a few hours before, as his stomach had slwoly filled up with licorice wands. |

The Great Hall was busy and humid, and upon entering Morga's excitement was only amplified. The room was tall and grand and inexplicably sticky, and the crowded tables beckoned her attention. Students lined the walls and the buffet was oh so welcoming. And were those... ghosts? Mog was immediately intrigued, she had never seen so many in one place. As much as she wanted to run around the room and get a look at everything, especially those ghosties, it would have to wait. Standing unfortunately tall in the gaggle of 11 year olds, it was difficult to make subtle leave.
The sorting ceremony: Now that was curious. Mog wasn't entirely sure of the benefits, but it seemed fun. Time consuming, for sure, but she was waiting there wondering what house she was in (Ravenclaw, she had settled on), so it must build some kind of team spirit.
The number of students was dwindling as Morgause Hornback was called to the hat. She didn't notice until she wasn't stepping forward, seemingly subjected to everyone around her. She jogged to the platform, not looking minutely aware of everyone's eyes on her.
The hat was warm and concerningly moist, and as soon as it was placed on her head, it seemed to recoil. She adjusted it by the brim in retaliation.
"Why is it so loud? What is going on?" The hat stated rather than asked, clearly irritated. Impressive for a hat. "All these questions in there; you're right in guessing that's enough for a Ravenclaw-- Can you please shut your thoughts, just for a second? If I can't think visiting your brain, I dont know how you do this every day."
Mog glowed with pride, which seemed to tell the hat all it needed to know.
"Oh, Merlin. Gryffindor."
"That was where my dad was." She stated shortly, as she hopped off the stage and trotted to the roisterous Gryffindor table to indulge in the hearty feast. The hat's disgruntled mumbling seemed to be in general agreement.

When Prisha entered the Great Hall for the first time, she was, to put it mildly, awestruck. Everything in the Great Hall was so... overwhelming. Everything Prisha put her eyes on made her attracted to it.
The sights nearly rid her of her nerves. Prisha tensed as her nerves came back the moment she started thinking about them. She set her eyes on the Hogwarts students staring at her. She tried brushing the thought of all the Hogwarts Students staring at her away. Instead, she set her eyes on a shiny object. Prisha was so focused on it she nearly didn't hear when her name was called. When it finally registered in her mind, she tore her eyes away from the shiny object and locked her eyes with the Sorting Hat.
She slowly walked towards the Sorting Hat. It was still hard to believe that a hat would sort her into a Hogwarts House, even after she heard the hat sing. When she reached the Sorting Hat, she carefully placed it on her head, she heard...silence. Prisha felt uncomfortable facing the silence. zit was like a blank pit of...nothingness. Was the Sorting Hat fake? She wondered. Then the Sorting Hat said something...her eyes widened, that wasn't logical. That didn't make sense, how could it...talk? She couldn't hear the Sorting Hat over her thumping heart which she forced to be quiet so she could listen to the hat. The oddest part was she was the only one able to hear the thoughts. The Sorting Hat's voice was rather loud in her mind which she despised.
"Hmm...interesting, very interesting. You have traits of all Houses, don't you?" The Sorting Hat said.
"First thing first...how is this logical? How can you talk? Are you the only Sorting Hat that Exists?" Prisha pestered the Sorting Hat with a million more questions until the Sorting Hat interrupted her.
"Ravenclaw!" The Sorting Hat boomed.
"My mother was in that House." Prisha breathed, not being heard over the roar coming from the Ravenclaw table.
She happily skipped over to the Ravenclaw table, grateful that there was another thing she could connect with, with her mother. "If only she was alive to see it," Prisha murmured. She sighed pushing the persistent thoughts away.

Marrione had waited ages for this very moment– candles above them gleaming with incredible warmth and hovering lightly in the air, the faint smell of pork roast lingering in the hall, the ceiling like the night sky gleaming above them. They knew, of course, that this moment was beyond important, it was crucial to their family, who struggled under the weight of their older brother's outbursts, critical to maintaining stability. It was of the utmost importance they were sorted into Slytherin.
Marrione waited, silently, not daring to converse with the other students, determined to reach this goal of theirs, anxiously awaiting their turn when finally, their name was called: "Albertine, Marrione"
They swallowed anxiously, head still up while they managed to hold their composure. The hat placed on their head, they thought rapidly and desperately, attempting to communicate to the rambling Sorting Hat their wishes to be placed into Slytherin like all of their other family was, to cause no complications.
"Another Albertine, always a Slytherin and you want it too, don't you?" mused the Sorting Hat with some sort of amused tone Marrione was not very keen on listening to. "Pity you think so, really, I can see the family origins but you're not much like a Slytherin yourself, eh?"
"Slytherin, please," they hissed through gritted teeth, so no one could tell exactly what they were trying to say to the frail hat. "Just give me Slytherin, please.
"Well, it seems you've made your choice..." finalized the Sorting Hat, and Marrione exhaled in immense relief, but not for very long: "GRYFFINDOR!
The decision thundered in Marrione's ears, temporarily frozen in shock and fear before another feeling had them completely overwhelmed. This was none other than devastation. They assumed their family would find out soon enough, especially their mother, who would be particularly cross and would undoubtedly act as if it was their fault despite their efforts. They supposed they'd send an explanation they they had tried to convince the hat without success, that it doesn't mean anything, that everything would ultimately be fine.
They removed the hate from their heads and placed it back on the stool, devastated.

Nerves built as she entered the great hall, the light made her feel dizzy after the harsh cold ride across the lake. She hadn't realized how big this school would be at least her mother probably forgot to tell her. Even though she was nervous there was an air of comfort within these walls maybe it wouldn't be to bad.. She moved with the crowd trying to hide herself within the other first years which was quite easy as she was very small. Unfortunately the taller boy she was standing behind was one of the first to be called, curious about what was going to happen she watched. The boy walked over head held high as he sat down on the small stool, the hat sat on his head for a minute or two then screamed:
She tried to calm down as others went in front of her several more Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Slytherins, and Hufflepuffs. What were even the differences between the houses? She hadn't heard anything really other then her Mother telling her that Gryffindor and Ravenclaw were a good options and take those who go there far. The building anticipation was really starting hit Camilia in the nerves, what would her mother say if she was sorted into a bad house? She watched another girl go forward and get sorted her last name had started with an S so that must mean...
She felt a sharp pain in her chest as she started to inhale and exhale faster, the hat had just finished with the S's and would move on to the T's. Meaning she would probably be the very next one to go. She started to fumble with her robes a little trying to distract herself, yet it didn't seem to work. Suddenly the person holding the parchment called out her name,
The hats thoughts echoed with hers though she hadn't even contradicted it which to the hat wasn't something that happened a lot.
She walked over to the yellow and black banner and sat down thankful that it was over.

She stood there shocked by the sudden loud noise, as her heart rate returned to normal sudden thoughts intruded her mind,"Very well then, better be!
GRYFFINDOR!!!!"
"They are trusting a hat to decide where we go????? Mother wrote there would be a small test. Is this the test? Was mother wrong? This is so strange.. A hat deciding where I must go.. Deep breathes, deep breathes, if this school has been going as long as Beauxbatons has then surely it can be trusted right? Right..."

Startled she hurried up to the stool almost running, staring at all those other students wasn't going to be forgotten ever. Suddenly she felt the pressure of the hat as it was being put on her. She could feel it or was she hearing it talk to her? Nothing made sense anymore..."Torres, Camilia?"
Oh ho! You aren't from around here are you? Far from your homeland.. Ah but if I do remember you had a sister come here as well. She did quite well with Ravenclaw, but you aren't like her are you? Yes, yes, you are loyal, a follower someone who doesn't give up on there family or friends. Hmm... you are quite an interesting case aren't you?Well then.. I think I have decided...
The hats thoughts echoed with hers though she hadn't even contradicted it which to the hat wasn't something that happened a lot.
Her head pounded as she waited for the sorting hat to tell the rest of the school her heart thrummed with excitement and a little nervousment! You know in this entire ceremony out of all these first years you haven't even asked any questions or asked me to put you into a specific house. So you are a very trusting person aren't you.. Ah very well then, I have officially decided.
A sea of yellow and black students clapped there hands and motioned her to come sit down.Better be,
HUFFLEPUFF!
She walked over to the yellow and black banner and sat down thankful that it was over.

Finally, Paul had arrived. He didn't know what to expect. Everybody else around him had a precise idea of which house they wanted to be part of. Aunt Lily had explained to him how the wisdom of the sorting hat would determine where Paul belonged, who his family and friends for life were going to be. A place that was the right fit for him, to accomplish what he was destined to in the magical world.
His cousins didn't seem to care that much about the great destiny thing. All they could talk about back home was how I needed to be a Ravenclaw. "Beg for it if you have to"
Lost in his thoughts, Paul was losing track of time as the other newcomers to Hogwarts were called one after the other and welcomed in their houses.
Everything about this place was magical.
Paul speechlessly gazed at the grand architecture, the arches reaching to the stars, the floating candles illuminating the hall with warmth.
The yellow and black, gold and red, silver and green, or the blue and bronze... Great, big, loud families.
" Paul White"
That's it. It was his time to come up to the sorting hat.
For the first time since this adventure started, Paul stopped feeling invisible. Everyone in the room was staring at him with anticipation. Suddenly all of this started to feel very real. They all cared. They all wanted him to be part of their family.
Paul kept silent as the hat mumbled " Hardworking and intelligent .. thinking of bronze and blue are you? No, no, no... Loyal... Yes. Patient and fair. Then it will be... HUFFLEPUFF! "
As the room burst into applause, Paul made his way to his new house, his new home under the yellow and black banner.

Victoria looked at Hogwarts' enchanting ceiling with admiration. She knew the spell was cast with she, but it was still impressive, she. She was very happy that she could become a wizard like her brother.
Finally, the ranking ceremony began. In the first years, they were placed in their buildings in turn. Victoria could not be certain which building she would go to, as her older brother was Gryffindor and her mother was Ravenclaw.
Finally the moment she had been waiting for came.
"Honest, Victoria"
Victoria moved nervously to the stool. She was afraid.
"Hmm, you have a quick mind. But you're also very big on the courage hidden deep in your heart. You're loyal and a good listener. You're ambitious. But I know where to put you."
"..."
"RAVENCLAW!"
The fear in Victoria was erased. A huge smile spread across his face. The Ravenclaw table was applauding loudly. Victoria advanced to her desk in hopes of making friends. She sat down in a place she found empty.
Next to her was a curly-haired boy whom she had assumed the first year. "Hello, I'm Victoria, Victoria Honest."
The curly haired boy smiled. "I'm William, William Winter. But you can call me Will."
Thus Victoria had her first friend. He smiled at his cousin, who was sitting at the Slytherin table.
