XXXXOkay, yes, Maggie was aware of the awkward and uncomfortable looks that Reggie was attracting. How could she not be? Dummies of this caliber were feared by most common people, weren't they? Terrifying, to plenty of people. Maggie knew that she was probably one of the few people here who didn't have an issue or discomfort with him. Of course not, though, because Reggie had been with Maggie for far longer than any of these people had or likely would be in the foreseeable future. Why should Maggie have to make accommodations for them? Reggie was a treasure and the real brilliance of Slytherin house!

"We're starting already?" Were they? Wonderful! Wonderful. Finally, Maggie would be able to show off the incredible talent that she did have. "Taking the charge, big guy?" The boy who had picked up the art supplies was far larger than average. Taller, almost giant-like in physique. "You're an artist? Didn't expect that. Thought you'd be doing boxing or something. Is that stereotypical? Or offensive? Sorry if it is. I don't really care much, but I figured I'd apologize anyway. It'd be kinda rude if I didn't."

Maybe Maggie should go quiet just like Jake Morris, who looked like he was shaking in his seat and terrified of every sound and movement that anyone in the room made. Would that be beneficial? Would that be helpful? Maybe. Because if Maggie didn't shut herself up real fast, she might find herself crushed in the fist of Hugh Lowe, who was likely able to snap someone in half like a twig.

Except that the frustration of Hugh Lowe was clearly not directed at her, but rather at Jake. As Hugh drew, Maggie's eyes flitted around to the other inhabitants of the room, the other students. Autumn, Starlee, Rachel. What was he doing? What on earth was going on? Seemed like Maggie would need to break that silence, huh? "Gonna break him in half, then? Might spare his face, though. After all, if it's broken you might not be able to draw him again."

You're welcome, Jake Morris.

OOC NOTICE
Players do not need to wait for another person's character to finish their talent before performing their own. For example, if someone else's character is playing the violin and no conclusion to the performance was mentioned, you may still post that your own character performed a dance. IC, if it doesn't make sense that two talents would be done at the same time, then you might write out your character reacting to another's talent, then showing their own once that talent is finished. There simply isn't enough time before the deadline for everyone's talents to [OOC] be performed at separate times.

This also serves as a reminder that the errand deadline is December 14th, barely over a week after the time of this notice. Please be certain to meet the word count requirement and detail your character performing their talent before that time. You may continue to role play in this thread following that date, but if the requirements are not met by then, you will receive no rewards for the errand.

The next person to come in was a young girl who asked who had spat in their cereal this morning. Jake made a face. Nobody had ever spat in his cereal. He wouldn't even let somebody put their spoon in his bowl if they'd already used it... but mostly his eyes were caught by the puppet that the girl had put down on the table. It was kinda creepy. Jake had always loved Toy Story and Pinnochio and even seen some puppet shows at the fair, so what was it that made the girl's doll so creepy? Maybe it was how wide its smile was. Kinda like it knew something they didn't. There wasn't a whole lot to smile about yet.

"Erm, Im Jake," he replied back after a moment, when the girl (Maggie) introduced herself. "Jake Morris." He had introduced himself a thousand times by now it must have been, but it was still kinda hard sometimes. He'd gotten much better at it than he'd been in first year when he'd often been so shy he had trouble speaking, but it was a lot worse with a whole group at once rather than just one person.

"What're you doing?" Hugh asked him, raising a very large eyebrow. Jake looked up. What did he mean? "Um...d-drawing?" Jake offered, showing the colored pencils. But Hugh was already looking down before he answered.. Jake eyed him warily as he scribbled at his paper.

Two more joined their group. A girl with wild red hair, and a Slytherin girl he'd seen in the dueling competition. Jake waved to them, but he couldn't help but keep looking at Hugh. Why? Because Hugh was looking at him. Jake looked over his shoulder, to see if there was anybody behind him. There wasn't. Hugh just kept writing on his paper, while taking glances at Jake. What had he done?

Jake was so distracted it was hard to draw on his own paper. He had started to try to draw a hippogriff, but shaky hands had caused a shaky line. Instead, he sat uncomfortably in his chair, watching the large boy draw. Finally, Hugh banged his hand down onto the table suddenly, a finished picture smacking onto the table and making Jake jump. And there on the paper was....

"H-hey!" Jake blushed, his cheeks growing hot as he looked at his likeness on the paper. "I...I'm not scared!" he insisted, scowling up at Hugh. But as Hugh stared at him, watching his face, Jake lowered his eyes and slumped in his chair. Maybe he was a little...but why'd Hugh have to tell everybody?

"Gonna break him in half, then? Might spare his face, though. After all, if it's broken you might not be able to draw him again."

The small boy gulped. He didn't think Hugh would break him in half. But he COULD, couldn't he? What was she giving him those ideas for? "I...wh--what? He woudln't---" Jake started to argue, before taking another look up at Hugh's eyes. They did look kinda angry... "What'd I do?" the boy whined.

When Lucia had received a note from the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, she'd at first just been confused. Maybe he'd gotten the name wrong: Lucia hadn't done anything, had she? Or maybe she had! Maybe she'd done a homework wrong! Maybe the professor thought she'd cheated on a test (which she hadn't, by the time way)! Maybe... Lucia couldn't think up any more maybes to consider, so she had carefully opened the note. A... talent show? Lucia hadn't signed up for anything like that! The note must have been delivered to the wrong person after all. But it was her name on it, right there in the professor's handwriting. Had someone else signed her up? And that was when Lucia had realised. Briar.

Ever since coming to Hogwarts, Briar Ardith Fox had developed a new and rather annoying habit of signing Lucia up for things without telling her, and then refusing to sign herself up, usually on the grounds that she had homework to do. Or, at least, that was what she was claiming now as she practically marched her older sister along the corridor towards the empty classroom on the second floor, having previously patiently stood outside of the Hufflepuff common room until Lucia finally came out. "I have homework!" Lucia protested, plucking at her skirt with one hand and running a hand through her hair with the other. "I probably have more than you!"
Briar just shrugged. "Yeah, but I like to do extra. You do as little as you can without getting told off for not doing it."
Lucia couldn't disagree with that, but she didn't want to agree with it either. She only did that for pointless subjects! Like History of Magic, and Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Herbology. But she didn't for good ones! Like... Astronomy. And...
Charms! Charms was useful!
The Hufflepuff suddenly realised that Briar was staring at her and pulled herself out of her grades analysis. "What even is this? A talent show?" she grumbled.
"Not exactly..."
"Briar!" Lucia hissed. "You know I don't perform! I'm not a monkey!"
Briar held her hands up in a display of please don't kill me, I'm your sister remember, meeting Lucia's deep blue eyes with her own, exactly the same shade. "It's not a talent show. Not exactly. It's a small group, and you go sing to them, and I don't know what happens after that." She must have seen the rather horrified look on Lucia's face, because she carried on quickly, also speeding up her walking pace. "It won't just be you! There's other people too! They'll be doing... whatever they're doing!" She stopped in front of a door, which Lucia completely ignored.
"Bree, I appreciate that you want me to-"
"Have fun!" Briar interrupted, then reached out a hand, pushed Lucia through the door, and shut it behind her.

Lucia's eyes widened at the door which had been quite literally slammed in her face. "Merlin's beard, Bree..." she mumbled, and then turned to see who else was in the room. There weren't many people, thank Merlin, but there was only one whom Lucia recognised: her duelling co-captain, @Jake Morris. "Jake! Hi!" Lucia couldn't help a little gasp of relief that someone she knew was here. At least it alliviated the awkwardness just a tiny bit. Right? "Um... am I late?"
I'm so sorry that I didn't get this in on time! I thought that today was the last day for submitting posts.

Hugh smirked as he stared at the wall. "Yes, very charming, girl." He said with sarcasm sliding off every word. "I'm sure if you'd drop your non-caring act for a second, you'd actually be able to make more friends than just a creepy doll." They all needed them in the end, friends. First to make it through this castle's ordeal and later to survive in the outside world of dangerous monsters: the wizards. He sincerely hoped the girl wasn't a stray like so many others. His mind would linger on an image of Serena, who felt just as alone as this one. Though minus the attitude, Serena was the kind of person that drowned herself in guilt and self-doubt instead.

His eyes flashed back to Jake, who was quivering in his chair after a pathetic attempt to stand up to him. "Where's your badge, huh?" Hugh could feel the anger welling up inside him. "You're supposed to wear it all the time." The Gryffindor explained, his words poking through as if he'd be drumming his index against the badger's forehead. The kid was a coward for trying to hide it. How dare he be ashamed of something he was chosen worthy to be. Hugh could feel his two rows of teeth grinding one another in frustration.

"Browne must've given it to you for a reason, dammit." The part-giant pushed his chair forward and turned his entire body to Jake. "You think your job's to cower in the shadows and make pretty little drawings while giant boys poke you in the chest?" He said as he did so, his index pressing forward, jabbing it into Jake's chest. Though secretly, he held back his strength behind it. He had no intention to harm the boy, merely give him a wake-up call. He had known others like him, Hugh had been a prefect in his first year after all. The Gryffindor knew what it was like being a little scared brat, not ready to face a larger world.

"Get it out, c'mon." He spoke as he held out his hand and beckoned the boy with his hand.
