"Guys, guys, guys! I can't wait to show you what I have in this box!" Avery exclaimed, lugging a big box down the corridor, stamping his feet in excitement with each punctuated word, a wide grin upon his face. Poor Hui Ming, who was holding the other end of the box, was probably trying his best to maintain balance for the both of them. The box was heavy, after all, stuffed with frozen meats and fresh vegetables galore, straight from his mother in London.

After leading in house points per month for four months in a row, Slytherin was ecstatic, and the first years were even more so. They were filled with team spirit; eager to prove their mettle and stake their own place in the Hogwarts Trophy Room. Their very own Liana Kerr won top three in two out of those four months. There was no better way to celebrate the occasion than to hold a hot pot party! At least, so says Avery Chen.

So, here was a group of first-years, preparing to feast on a Saturday afternoon in the Great Hall. Their rag-tag group arrived at the Slytherin table. "Liana, can you please put my cauldron here in the middle?" he asked the red-head who was cleverly levitating it instead of carrying it like a chump. "Thanks!" With one last struggle, Avery and Ming set down the heavy box onto the table as well. Phew. What a workout! "Maggie, you got the decorations?" he asked his friend and quidditch teammate, who was in charge of bringing their Slytherin banner to tack onto the wall behind them. "Vale, thanks for opening the box... without scissors?" How the girl tore the box open with her bare hands was a mystery. "Oh hey! Don't lick the fish balls! That's not sanitary!" he shouted, taking the pack of frozen fish balls out of Vale's hands and setting them onto the table instead.

He dug into the box and took out each item that his mom had packed with ice: "Fish balls, sliced beef and pork, spam, fried tofu, enoki mushrooms, lotus root, chrysanthemum leaves, cabbage, rice cakes... and, of course, the spicy soup base, milk tea, paper bowls, and chopsticks!" he listed each item out loud as his friends helped him place them onto the table. Avery clapped his hands together excitedly. "Perfect! Let's get this party started!" Soon enough, the magical cauldron boiled happily. The spicy and umami aromas of the soup bubbled cheerily, filling the hall with the smell of spicy oil and bone broth. Anyone coming into the Great Hall right now would catch a whiff of spice tickling their noses.

It had been a while since he had savored a hot pot meal. Last time... Well, things didn't go so well during his first hot pot party in the Snape Dorm. Let's just say that Avery ended up in the toilet for the rest of the night. But this time was different! He had made sure to scrub his cauldron squeaky clean! There was no way anyone would be poisoned today! (Or would they...?)

Avery, ever the gracious Chinese host, scooped ladle-fulls of cooked meat and vegetables into each paper bowl and passed them around. By now, it was likely that Hildegard, Habib and Dancelos had also joined the table to help them set up and were ready to feast. "Here, everyone! Take a bowl, a cup of milk tea, and a pair of chopsticks! Or a fork, whichever you prefer. Why don't we do a small toast, first?" he raised a cup of sweet milk tea, which was essential for anyone who needed to wash away the intense spice. "To Slytherin, the house of victorious record-breakers! To all our members who contributed to the win! Shoutout to Liana who carried the team! We make winning look so easy. Birds got nothing on us, and we showed 'em who's boss!" With that, he downed a large gulp of milk tea and its sweet, sweet taste of victory.

Habib was ecstatic Slytherin had won the Cup 4 times in a row this time the star player had been one of his very own dormmates, he agreed, there was no better way to celebrate this than a get-together. Habib decided that he would add his own greek touch to the festivities. His father had sent over some Loukoumades and Calamari. Thanks to a charm his father had cast they were still nice and hot. He brought them into the great hall smiling. Placing them down he turned to Avery and said "I hope you don't mind but my father sent a few gifts to commemorate the occasion, NY the way is anyone here allergic to squid because the Calamari is battered squid so if you are don't touch them" after that brought out the other things his father had sent a charmed photo of a snake devouring an eagle. It floated up into the sky with an emerald green glow which set the mood even more. Habib, for the second time in his Hogwarts career he felt truly happy. He was at home with his fellow Slytherins. His multi-coloured glowing in the light. Later his Father would have said that he looked like he had during his Hogwarts years.

Vale's currently wearing a 'dressed down' outfit for the party. A simple, black dress and a large, black bow resting on her head to commodate her style.
Despite the party only just starting to being set up, Vale was having a blast already. From licking fish balls, to touching and smelling everything else that her inherited curiousity set her sights upon. Vale wasn't alone in coming to the party. She brought her beloved companion Familia as well. Familia was even feeling a tad bit social today too, lurking across the table to expect everything, from the food to the children roaming around to prepare for the event...and hoping to snatch a crumb or two to eat without anyone knowing.

And so while the spider was crawling around, Vale helped with Avery's toast.

"A toast! To reminding the futile houses that snakes are the far superior animal in the kingdom!" Vale laughed, throwing her own cup of milk tea up quickly and nearly spilled it completely in her excitement. A small droplet could be felt on poor Familia's hairs, and she moved a touch out of reaction to something wet. But she ended up relaxing when she realized that she had no reason to remain protective when the feeling didn't continue.

Vale moved to sit down, taking note of the small dish of honeycakes that her own mother decided to send over as treats for the feast planned up. She made sure to have it set off to the side for anyone who had a sweet tooth. "Maybe we can make some Ravenclaw friends after this, knowing we can be just as smart, if not better!" Vale felt assured that she can finally increase her friend group with more people other than Slytherins, despite the circumstances involved in having the party in the first place.

As Vale moved to sit down, she felt something moving onto her body, and looked down to see Familia moving up to climb onto Vale's shoulder. The spider turned around, watching everything that was happening when she realized that nothing seemed all to tasty to devour for the time being, at least not in a size suitable for her.

"This meal may not satisfy our bloodthirst, but it'll satisfy our stomaches!" Vale realized the food was rather spicy when she immediately dug in, but it only made her more eager to shove even more into her mouth, not at all willing to wait for the others to eat as well. Familia simply watched the scene before herself, deciding whether or not to return back to the warm hair that was Vale Ashwood's.

Slytherin had proven they success for 4 months by winning the trophy. And now was one of the sweetest moments of victory, the celebration. Dancelos was summoned by her Quidditch friend Avery. She had gone a little early to help and see the Ravenclaws' defeatist faces. Avery was giving orders for the preparations. On the one hand, there were very familiar faces.
+I hope it's not too late to help.
she said and greeted the people who were looking at her.
Dancelos looked for a job, realized that the plates had not yet been placed, and placed the plates Avery had taken out of the box on the table.
The smell of various spices was all over the place.
Habib and Vale, who she had met the other day (not quite acquainted) had also arrived a little early. Habib had brought some kind of squid and was telling Avery about it.When everything was ready, the table looked perfect. Fish cakes, sliced beef and pork, spam, fried bean curd, enoki mushrooms, lotus root, chrysanthemum leaves, cabbage, rice cake... Dancelos bought herself a few sticks (fortunately, her grandmother taught her how to use them), a bowl, milk tea and found a place for herself found a seat. Almost everyone had arrived. She attended Avery's victory speech with a cup of tea and triumphantly began tasting these spicy foods. Today was definitely one of heR days here, it was going to be a nice evening with her friends. And of course she was going to see the Ravenclaws face of defeat, this it was one of the best parts.

Dialogue: Liana - #09621b
Interacting with: Pretty much everyone present.
Mentioning: @Avery Chen | @Vale Ashwood
Outfit: School robes
November had been a tough month for Liana. She had been feeling low for a huge portion of it, and initially even neglected doing extra work for her classes. But the excitement and mutual desire to win made her work harder - as a lot of people in her house seemed to want a yet another win, and Ravenclaw decided to put up a fight, the studious first-year concluded that she ought to earn more points than usual. Which was no small feat to achieve, since she regularly submitted flawless homework, volunteered to answer questions in class every day, and did her best to complete any extra assignments that may be given. So she had to somehow do more of that. Which meant doing extra work in subjects she had paid less mind to, such as Transfiguration, Potions, History of Magic... and Flying. The latter put more stress on her than the other three combined. Mostly because she despised heights, seemed to lack balance, and found broom riding just uncomfortable in general. And yet, she pushed through all the discomfort and fear, managing to score a few Os rather than her usual Es and shameful As that the Flying professor tended to evaluate her with.

The hard work had paid off. Her massive effort made her the top earner of the month - a title she was proud of, but did not intend to strive for again any time soon. And, of course, Slytherin had achieved victory. By a single point only - but victory nonetheless. Since the redhead played no small part in it, she felt like she deserved a day off. Perhaps even some socializing, as she had been avoiding interactions with her peers outside the classroom for almost a month. The party that Avery came up with seemed like an acceptable idea, too. Admittedly, she was quite a bit anxious about how Ravenclaw would take it, if they heard about their little celebration. After all, she still harboured hopes of getting into their study groups by forming friendships with some of the Ravenclaws. That was something she had yet to initiate - somehow she just never found the right time to chat with any of the blue-clad students, and felt almost queasy whenever the thought of approaching someone with the explicit purpose of making friends surfaced in her mind. She doubted she'd be any good at it. Perhaps if she was just neutral-nice towards their whole house, a positive relationship would form naturally. However, if today's event proved to be just a gathering for boasting and wound salting, Rowena's disciples would likely view everyone present in a negative light. So yes, Liana had managed to find something to worry about in something as cheerful and innocent as a party.

Feeling antsy and not at all hungry, she settled down with everyone else and, following Avery's suggestion, took a bowl and a cup of tea. For a brief moment she debated whether to try using chopsticks - a skill she'd never gained. In the end, however, the girl ended up selecting a fork; better not make a fool of herself by failing to pick up food with utensils she'd never used before. The toast initially made her glow with pride - although 'carrying' perhaps wasn't the word she would have chosen to describe her effort, at least not publicly. The very next statement made her flinch internally. Oh. Oh no. They were really going to brag about the victory and talk down Ravenclaw. Her eyes went around the room, trying to gauge everyone's opinion on the little speech. An overwhelming majority seemed to approve, which was a bad sign. Vale even added to it, touching upon and unknowingly diminishing any hopes Liana had of forming a friendship with Ravenclaws.

''Remember, guys, both houses tried their best, and we won by a single point. That's more luck than anything. A professor could have happened to grade a batch of Ravenclaw homework and we would have lost.'' This wasn't exactly the Slytherin-glorifying speech everyone else was giving, but she had to do something to salvage the situation before they were overheard. And it was true - in the end, their victory had been a stroke of luck. When she had gone to sleep on November 30th, they were behind by a handful of points and she thought they had failed. Waking up to cheers in the common room had been utterly unexpected. The snakes gathered here seemed to have forgotten how little hope there was by the end, and how surprised most of them felt. She eyed the enchanted ornament hovering above their heads. That was a complete overkill right there, a challenge to fight for any Ravenclaw that happened to pass by the Great Hall. Was it really a good idea to come here? She was beginning to doubt it.

Everything was nice, Hildegard forced herself to ignore Avery to enjoy Slytherin's 4th month of leadership in points. However the mention of eating with sticks was too odd to be ignored.
What was it ? Chopsticks ? Why would I eat with sticks rather than a fork a spoon and a knife ? Sticks are made to walk, make broom or things like that ! What's wrong with those muggle ? She thought.
However she quickly stopped wondering about those strange muggle tradition when the smell of the food went into her nose.
Taking milk tea, some fish balls, and calamari.

- Calamari are squids you said ? She said without expecting any responds.
Hildegard took extra care to enjoy the squid, she may not have been attacked by the giant squid back in her first, the experience was still traumatizing enough for her to want to take revenge.

- This squid is delicious ! She admitted to the boy.

While Hildegard was eating, some conversation was ongoing about how Liana helped to make them win and upon hearing the ginger girl being modest Hildegard furrow her brows.
Modesty was for the weaks, the weaks who needed to stay in the shadow in order to keep their place.
She thought maybe Liana was really a snake pretending it was not a big deal and it was close just to be able to have no challenge.
Either way she could not let Liana have it her way, it was belittling Slytherin a bit and allowed the DADA prodigy to keep herself away from competition.

- What are you talking about Liana ? We whooped Ravenclaw's ass on Dungbombs thanks to you, it was not even close ! they lost pitifully, it was pathetic ! I know you can do it again next month ! You're one of the best first year after all ! So don't be modest please.

She paused and continued loudly while raising her milk tea cup.

-To Liana ! The Ravenclaw's dementor !

She then added less loudly with a sarcastic tone :
- Seems like we are not trying to burn the same birds aren't we ?

Clair was in a good mood, despite her house loosing my one meager point.
She was planning on going to the Great Hall and maybe studying with some other Ravenclaw, maybe she would just chat with who ever was there.
Well she when she got there with all her things she heard voices, tons of voices.
All of them were talking about one thing, Slytherin.
At this Clair crept up to the door staying just behind it, she listened for a moment when she heard a Slytherin, Hildegard a enemy of Clair's, say 'What are you talking about Liana ? We whooped Ravenclaw's ass on Dungbombs thanks to you, it was not even close ! they lost pitifully, it was pathetic ! I know you can do it again next month ! You're one of the best first year after all ! So don't be modest please.'
At this Clair felt her blood boil, no one and I mean no one would say a bad thing about her house! Ravenclaw was the best house by far!
She stiffened and Rounded the corner, her hand reaching into her pocket feeling for her wand,
"Ravenclaw was very close to winning, and if you... Legless Lizards did not get that one stupid little point then we would have won! It's pretty sad to win by one point!"
She said loudly glaring at Hildegard, she looked around quickly and noticed three things,
1) i photo of a snake eating a eagle, that would need to be dealt with later. 2) a lot of food, and 3) a lot of smug Slytherins.
Clair looked at them all, they had all now mad her hate list for the time being.

OOC note: I'll wait to add the drama until more Ravenclaw are here
OOC note: Please know that Clair's thought's actions and words are Clair's I might not agree with everything she says or does, if your going to hate her, Hate her not me. Thank you for understanding!

Juniper couldn't pass the hourglasses. She found herself taking long and wide turns just to avoid seeing them. The stinging was still fresh. The fact that they were winning all month until last minute, when one point finished it all... and Slytherin made a new record. Seeing the hourglasses would make her want to kick someone. In fact just thinking about it was ticking her off. She gave a frustrated sigh and ran her hand through her out-of-control hair. Sometimes she wanted to yank her hair out, but doing so wouldn't fix what happened with the Slytherins. But a walk just might. As she walked, she let out angry thoughts and snapped at random kids as she walked by. As she started to pass the Great Hall, a strong smell met her nose.

She dug her hands in her pockets and paused. What was it? It smelled pretty good. Some of it had a... spicy smell? June loved spicy food, so she was interested and walked into the great hall. She was met by a group of students, seemingly enjoying themselves. A party, perhaps? She never got an invitation and she felt like she was intruding. However, she ignored the feeling and made a beeline for the table with food.

She used a fork and scooped some food for herself (only a bite sized portion) and tried it. She wrinkled her nose and spit it out. (no offense to the cooks or culture, of course :wise: ) "That tastes TERRIBLE! what is it?" She so badly wanted to rinse that taste from her mouth. She put her plate on the table as her eyes drifted to a photo. A photo of a snake eating an eagle?

oh no.

She looked around, suddenly aware that she was surrounded by Slytherins. She felt her anger rise.

"DO YOU A-HOLES THINK YOU'RE FUNNY?!" She yelled, and a voice came to her ears.

"- What are you talking about Liana ? We whooped Ravenclaw's ass on Dungbombs thanks to you, it was not even close ! they lost pitifully, it was pathetic ! I know you can do it again next month ! You're one of the best first year after all ! So don't be modest please."

Her eyes searched for the culprit, locking on her target as she did. She paced over and grabbed the girl's front of her shirt. She shoved the girl backward as she held onto the shirt, then yanked the girl forward so she could smash her head into the girl's. However, she didn't fully tilt her head forward so she hit her nose. However, if she did the rest of it right, the girl would be in a lot more pain than she was in right now. She felt the blood coming from her nose, but not too fast as she didn't hit it extremely hard. If anything, the other girl would have a gushing nose at least.

She wiped away the blood from her nose and stood for a moment, looking at shocked faces.

Habib raised an eyebrow at Liana for being so modest. He didn't understand why they were the winners it was their right to gloat. He then grinned at Hildegard's description and nodded along with her. Then some rude Ravenclaw girl came in and started talking a lot of shit then she punched Hildegard, Habib didn't know whether it landed or if it hit. He said, "It is rather pathetic actually that in a contest decided by homework grades, you know a measure of intelligence and the house famed for such feats lost, maybe we should resort I think Hufflepuff will do nicely." Habib was pissed, these chickens with wings had just walked in on their celebration and threw a hissy fit because what they were shown their places, honestly they needed to get over themselves. Habib realized that he was being a bit like Ginger Boy with his cockiness but he didn't care right then. He gave them a smug grin that said come on do it I dare you. Habib hoped they would take the bait although he didn't really have a backup plan for If they did he would just have to improvise that one for now he was just waiting on the reaction.

Winter was not being kind to Hui Ming, though not many would have noticed it. Bleary eyes and less succinct vocabulary were the only indications of the stress the boy was under, between the workloads he had chosen for himself. Somehow the quiet, well-put-together boy was unfurling at the seams: borderline O’s had started becoming borderline E’s, and then regular E’s; verbal barbs became less sharp, and the bespectacled first-year sank ever deeper into his reserved shell.

The boy maintained his steady inflow of points, always within the top 5 of his class. But only smouldering embers remained of what had once been his burning determination. The boy still went about his business, but only half-heartedly. A resigned automaton carrying out its functions, rather than the efficient, intelligent child who had started the year.

Even in participating in this celebration of his House’s performance, Ming had ceded quietly to Avery’s enthusiasm. The old Ming might have puffed up and lectured Avery on propriety – Slytherin had already proven themselves to be the best House, there was no reason to proclaim it loudly to the world.

This Ming just quietly accepted a random assortment of food and started digging in.
Not even Schneider’s boasting or the living faux pas that was Acropolis would get a rise out of the boy, despite how distasteful and arrogant the pair managed to be.

All of this changed with the appearance of several new students to the mix, who happened to be Ravenclaw first years. He had not first paid them much mind, having expected some degree of decorum out of them – Cassidy Fraser and Delilah Stewart had both been extremely reasonable individuals, and he had expected that to be a House trait.

The first girl (Clair) opened with a juvenile insult. The second girl (Juniper), meanwhile, pranced in like she owned the place; callous body language, offensive words, and outright physical violence included.

For a moment Ming did nothing, looking to the group to see how they would take to this intrusion. It seemed, at least from the reaction elicited by Acropolis, that it was a welcome intrusion – a chance to flex their muscles and show off, now that they safely outnumbered their azure counterparts.

It was…. For the lack of a better word, it was disgusting.

And just like that, it was all too much.

“No wonder you lost, if this is how the House of Intellect handles challenges.” Ming’s voice was low, barley more than a whisper. But each of his syllables dripped contempt. Assuredly, the first year got to his feet, before adding. “This is unbecoming, and shameful.”

Though the final words were said as a continuation of his previous comment, his eyes lingered on his Housemates more than the Ravens. Schnedier, Acropolis, even Ashwood.

Slowly, he wiped his mouth with a tissue. “It was a lovely meal, Avery. But I must excuse myself from this…..demeaning display.”

A small pause, and Ming gave a small nod. “Miss Kerr. Miss Grey.”
Hui Ming will leave this thread unless stopped

The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening
