Great Maze - Something Wicked
Lucy sprinted into the maze, clearly excited to be starting what she thought was going to be a fun and leisurely activity. She wasn't concerned about any sort of dangers - after all, this was school. How dangerous could the maze really be? She knew that there had once been something called the Triwizard Tournament that was really dangerous, but Hogwarts had stopped hosting it for a reason. She figured that the school had learned its lesson and that the biggest challenge of this maze would be to find the correct path and catch the goat.
She bounced on her heels, waiting for her teammates to reach the intersection. She tried to peer down each path, but there was nothing inherently obvious about which one to choose. She turned around to face the direction she had come, raising her voice to call to them. "There are three paths!" she started, indicating the directions in a frantic, pinwheeling motion with her arms. "Which one do we choose?!" she was grinning, bouncing, and pacing between the three. She clearly had too much energy and was way too excited about this hedge maze.
As they got closer, she started talking again. "I've heard that you should always turn left in a maze, but maybe the creators would know about that and thus place the goat on the opposite side. Oh man. I don't know. Someone else pick and I'll follow you! I could see it being west because that would follow the left-turn rule. But I could see it being right because that would be the exact opposite. But then the middle path is a good compromise of the two!"
She stared helplessly at the two girls that accompanied her. "What do you guys think?" She turned to consider the three paths again, warming to her theory that the maze designers might have intentionally chosen to do the opposite of the "always left" rule. "Maybe this way?" she asked uncertainly, gesturing to the east path.

Great Maze - Something Wicked
As she looked up at the maze wall, Thora couldn't help but grin. She'd crashed into the woods near her house often enough in search of some form of adventure, and here she was, her first year at a school for magic, about to sprint into a maze that might just be filled with dangers previously unimagined, as well as with magic. She'd even found a small group of people willing - at the very least - to team up with her in this bit of madness. She almost laughed just thinking about it all, but just managed to keep it inside.
So when Lucy sprinted into the maze, Thora followed at her heels, and it wasn't long before they reached the first choice. As her two partners approached the thing logically, Thora listened, feeling a bit out of place. She wasn't exactly the logically minded sort.
Instead, she listened as the other two talked, and peeked down the maze in each direction. What she saw didn't tell her much, really - just more tall maze walls and no clear magic or monsters or clues to be seen.
The stones drew her attention back to the conversation, of course. "T'at's a great idea," she exclaimed, indicating the stones. "Too bad we didn't bring a piece of parchment or somet'ing," she added. "Would've been useful."
Shrugging, she pointed to the left. "I like the idea of going this way."

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And rains fall soft upon your fields.

YOU CHOOSE EAST.
As your team takes the path to the East, you become more and more engulfed by the maze. The hedges grow taller, taller than you are, and the light seems to fade slightly as the sun passes over top of your heads. The further in you go, the more you wonder when you will be getting out, even though it had only just begun. The ground was beginning to turn from beautifully taken care of grass to rough dirt and stones that scattered randomly across the ground. Not the best to walk on but still tolerable. Halfway to the next fork in the maze, an animal darts out in front of your group from underneath the hedge to your right, causing a slight panic. It was black and white to the eye and about knee-height, but not much else could be told about the appearance, or the type of animal it could have been. Perhaps it was an animal that escaped Professor Lear’s classroom, or maybe it was an animal straying away from the Forbidden Forest, trying to find its way out of the maze itself? You won’t find out. Soon enough, you come to the next turning point, giving you three options to choose from.
Choose between North, South or turning back. Remember that teams can not split up.

Lucy squealed as the small animal darted underfoot. She leapt backwards, knocking roughly into Thora with her right elbow. Eyes wide and gasping in surprise, she turned to grab Thora's sleeve. "Sorry!" she managed to exclaim, grimacing a little. Her elbow as throbbing, so whatever she hit on Thora must not feel to great either. "I just got scared a little." She raised her hand to cup her forehead, a bit sheepish about her reaction.
"Hey, do you think that was the goat? It was about the right size..." she paused, looking between Thora and (Redacted). She wanted to follow it, but now that they were at another path choice she wasn't sure what to do. She recalled Emily saying that they should take every right turn. Well, since they were currently travelling... east, maybe? that would make it so they should go south next. Right? She was not sure, but she wanted to follow Emily's plan to take every right turn.
She turned to Emily. "Are you laying down your stones so we know where we've been? Do you want to take the right turn?" she asked, indicating south. "I liked your original plan, so I think we should try to follow it as close as possible."
