Greenhouse One
It was an admittedly dreary Autumnal afternoon on the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The fog from the morning had cleared enough that visibility was at least slightly better, but the sky was still overcast. On days like these it was easy to forget the sky had ever been blue, the mass of white clouds upon white seemed to stretch every direction to the horizon and beyond. Despite this, two figures walked down a winding footpath that seemed to lead from the castle on the rock down grassy banks and towards rows of glass houses, taking ginger steps down the slope.
"Thanks for coming with," The tall brunette called to her counterpart, her arms spread out to the side, just in case. It was lucky the path had been used for centuries before them, so the dirt beneath their feet had been firmly compacted and didn't turn to marsh below them like the lawns threatened to, however it was still muddy enough to coat the soles of their shoes. "I'd probably have fallen about ten times already." Mardella continued, her hands wobbling a little to keep her balance. Her new roommate had been sitting in the common room, and she hadn't exactly wanted to go down alone.
Eventually, they made it to the greenhouses with no mishaps, although there had been a few near-slips that had been too close to the soggy ground for comfort. If Mardella could have waited until tomorrow she would have been glad to, when perhaps there would be a little sun and the sky looked less like it was about to rain on them at any second, but she needed to get a few things done before the Greenhouses were closed for the weekend.
Professor Wright had assigned them each small pots of Shrinking Gubbins (a bit like muggle touch-me-nots except their pink flowers were fluffier and glowed) which were perfectly harmless but left too long without care would start to smell a bit like old pizza. The textbooks didn't say that of course, and the Professor had said something about tomatoes and oregano, but Mardella knew what day-old pizza smelt like. The assignment had been something along the lines of keep a log of how you take care of it and don't kill it, essentially.
The door to Greenhouse One was unlocked, but from the entrance Mardella couldn't see the typically blunt professor either. She turned back to Aurelia. "Do you think we should knock? Or just go in?"

Greenhouse One
Aurelia was sitting in the common room with her book in her lap, as usual, when Mardella came in. She greeted Mardella enthusiastically. Mardella urge her to come along with her to the herbology greenhouse to gather some materials. Aurelia had spent almost an hour with her head in her book that her eyes aches. Maybe she needed to get some fresh air. She would have been to engrossed in the book that she didn’t realised so much time has just passed. They walked down a few corridors and pushed open a huge door which led to the grounds. They strolled to the green house.
They stopped by the threshold.
“So what do you need?” Aurelia asked Mardella.
As Mardella went to get her stuff, Aurelia could help herself staring at a plant the Proffesor was teacher her class about. It was a devil’s snare, a dangerous and sometimes lethal plant.

“I think it’s alright.” Aurelia pushed the ajar door open. She was met with a sweet and fresh floral aroma. The Proffesor was teaching and merely nodded her head, acknologing them as they came in quietly. Though a few distracted heads turned in thier directionsDo you think we should knock? Or just go in?"

Mardella followed Aurelia inside. Almost immediately, the air around them changed from wet and cold to humid and balmy, like stepping in front of a radiator after being out in the rain. On that note, she could already feel the ends of her braids beginning to frizz up. There was a class being held in the center of the greenhouse, a groups of older pupils arranged along the workbenches with the Professor gesturing to a slithering tangle of vines in the center.
Mardella moved down an aisle of plants to the left of the glass room. There was thick belt of soil that ran alongside the wall of glass, different plants and trees and bushels sprouting from the rich dirt. A young tree, mostly bare save for a smattering of delicate green leaves, seemed to wave genially at the first years as they passed by it. "That's a wiggentree," She whispered to Aurelia, without really checking if the other girl was following. "They're pretty expensive to buy, 'cause of the bowtruckles." This one was probably too young for any just yet.
At the very end of the aisle was a long table, soft dirt smudged occasionally against the grainy surface, rows and rows of plant pots of all different sizes, shapes and colours. The plants too -- some that sang, some that changed colour, some that twittered as they approached. The Shrinking Gubbins were in round black pots off to the side. Some people had clearly already come to collect theirs since there were only a four left, and Mardella hurried forwards to find the one with her initials on it.
"Emm-Bee...Emm-Bee..." She muttered, picking each one to turn it to check the white lettering and then paused. "There's two?" Two identical initials, she wondered who the other M.B was. Mardella span to find Aurelia. One of the plants was glowing a soft pink at all the attention, the other one was not looking nearly as good. It's leaves didn't even close up when she ran a finger down a stem. "Which one do you think I should take?" The apathetic one was probably hers, she had left the assignment a little later than she'd intended.
"We got assigned a Shrinking Gubbins to look after, for a month,"She drew her eyes away, heading towards where the the Herbology Mistress had told them they could collect their plant pots. "C'mon," She flashed Aurelia a grin, resisting the urge to snag the other girl by the wrist. "This way I think.""So what do you need?"

Greenhouse One
Mardella explained to her that she had been assigned a plant called a shrinking gubbin to look after. Aurelia wasn't sure what the plant was as she probably never heard or read about it.
Mardella walked across the room towards a table of potted plants. As she was doing so, her head turned and she pointed to a tiny sapling.
The plants in the room were odd. They were also magical and couldn't sing melodically while mimicking the sound the birds outside made. Aurelia wasn't used to seeing plants which moved on their own. Mardella searched for her pot of plant. She seemed to confused with two pots she was holing in her hands. One pot contained a plant with only a flew leaves hanging on the branches, it looked dried and unhealthy. The other had a head full of lush green leaves with a few pink flowers dotted around.
"I trust that you would look after the empathic plant." Aurelia said, pointing at the pot she held.
"So how are you suppose to look after it?" Aurelia asked curiously.

Mardella had stated. Aurelia knew what the tree was, the wiggentree bark was commonly use in potion making. Usually in the wild, there would be strange creatures protecting it. She had forgotten what their name was when Mardella clarified. That's a wiggentree
Aurelia had read about the Wiggentree and the reactions with brow truckled. The Browtruckles would protect it with any costs and possibly with their lives. They're pretty expensive to buy, 'cause of the bowtruckles.

Mardella asked for her advice. She thought, if the shrivelled plant was given to some one who was responsible, it would probably die. She knew Mardella was diligent and would look after it and perhaps even nurture it to look like the beautiful plant that she was holding in her other hand.Which one do you think I should take?

Greenhouse One
Aurelia suggested. Well, Mardella had asked, hadn't she? With a bit of a mournful sigh, she placed the healthier Gubbin back on the long table and eyed the poor, slightly shriveled up one that was to be her assignment. "I guess we'll have to do our best, then." She said to the potted plant, tapping one browning leaf with her finger. A healthy Shrinking Gubbin would have started to close it's leaves at that, shy as they were, but this one didn't even twitch."I trust that you would look after the empathic plant."
Mardella looked at the blue-eyed girl and then back at the plant. "Water it, and pay it some attention, according to the textbook. Their flowers get all glowy and blush when they're happy, I think. I'm sorry I took so long to come and get you." She brushed her finger over the underside of a different leaf, wondering if it would reach like a dog getting scratched under it's chin. "I guess I'll be carrying you with me everywhere until you feel better.""So how are you suppose to look after it?"
There was a large barrel of water off to the side and a tap at the bottom so Mardella headed over to give the plant a bit of a well-needed drink. The soil inside the pot was feeling more than a little dry. The tap was quite stiff, not turning anywhere nearly as smooth or easy as the faucets in the dorm bathroom, but she managed to get a nice trickle of water going and into the pot, watching with satisfaction as the dirt around the plant seemed to suck it up.
"You thirsty, Gubby?" And then remembered Aurelia was still behind her. "It's an extra assignment - " She admitted, with a flush of embarrassment blooming on her cheeks, "I got a P in Herbology on the last homework, and it's not the first time either. Wright and Trollop had a chat with me about it and said if I could keep a Gubbin alive for a month I might not be entirely hopeless." She switch the tap off, twisting the top as tightly as she could before dusting her knees off and rising.
"It won't change my grades," She said with a shrug, "but I'm hoping they won't mark me as harshly? Maybe? I'm not really good with the book stuff to be honest." Or the magic stuff in general, she winced to herself.
