One against- who knew, Aurora refused to count anymore. All she knew was that the Slytherin girl was now all alone, facing the scary faces of the Verdimillious team. God, protect her. She was quite lucky, it was the green spark charm she needed to handle and not the knockback jinx. Imagine if it was the other way around, her poor body and soul would be traumatized. Hospital wing would be her next destination, or perhaps, her second dorm. But speaking of teams, it was pretty clear that Aurora was standing on the winning one, unless the last one standing girl was actually a rather accurate and talented person. Too many amazing people in the school just made the young Ravenclaw want to curl up into a ball and cry and fade away with the background. She was happy for them, really. Hate was never her intention. But sometimes, one couldn’t hide the envious feeling that kept building up inside, not when it eats up her confidence every single day like a hungry devil, leaving her feeling empty at night which was the worst feeling ever. But if there’s a possibility that Aurora can be better than anyone there even if she needs to try ten times harder, she would do it. But for now, let’s win the game.

If Scarlet was being honest, things hadn’t exactly been as unbearable as she thought they could be with Liana throughout the match so far, in fact she thought they were scarily bordering on making up with each other. Nevertheless, she couldn’t help but feel an small sense of success, more so than she had gotten from any other moment in the match; from when she had first seen that Liana would be a part of the duel, Scarlet had been waiting for the time when she would land a hit on the girl.

In the process however she did get hit herself, again. At least this time she could be thankful the green sparks charm didn’t have quite the same effect as Flipendo. “I kind of thought it wouldn’t be me getting hit that put us on the same team,” she joked in reply to Henry, “I guess this just proves you’re a pretty good duelist,” she added, smiling at him.

As she watched for the effects of the other hits during the round, which teams each person were moving to, her smile slowly transformed back to a neutral expression, her hit was the reason the game was still going on, the reason the team she was now a part of, had not yet won. Maybe her hit wouldn’t be seen as quite a success by her new teammates, still it was everyone against Liana now, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for them to win now.

Round 6

There was something to say about this next round. In a way Alan had expected this to be the last one, after all there was one first year against a bunch of other students who were mostly upper years. So the odds of her managing to turn this around were slim, near non-existent. Then again, Alan barely knew the girl so who knew, perhaps she would be able to surprise him? And she would. As the other team put most of their people on the defense, in order to keep them on the team and because two attackers were really enough versus one single student, Liana would be more courageous and was not seeking an easy prey. Instead she would take a risk, a calculated risk if one may point out and would target one of the fifth years; Delilah specifically. Alan had seen what the Ravenclaw was capable of, purposefully splitting her spells to target two students at once. It was impressive really. However Liana also met her fate; with both Xailah and Delilah targeting the girl there was just nothing for her to do. The experience of those upper years exceeded her own and thus two blinding spark spells exploded before her face in bright green hues. Now the dynamic shifted and it was Delilah who was the single person left on the Flipendo team, Alan was curious to see if she would manage to tip the game in her favour.

There really was only one target for her, if she truly intended to give her best for the team of which she now was the sole member. Sure, she could target River again - the poor girl seemed to fall victim to Liana's spells whether it was an intentional attack or not. But in case of another success, that would only put the fourth-year in the same situation of one against eight - and it certainly was a given that the first-year would be reclaimed by her home team quickly. Scarlet was another viable option, should Liana want to end the game by dishing out some sweet revenge. It really seemed like another spell would eliminate the werewolf-defending brute. Was the redhead truly petty enough to use a friendly game to try and knock out someone she disliked? Well, yes, absolutely; but maybe not when everyone's eyes were on her. Now when no less than ten people were watching her carefully, she could not claim it had been an accident, and everyone would judge her for being malicious towards the poor girl who had already suffered so many painful hits during the game.

So yes. Only one viable target. The one who could hit two people with a single spell. The one who had displayed splendid accuracy during this game. The one who happened to be a fifth-year duellist, much superior to Liana in every way. It would require all of her focus to hit Delilah Stewart. There could be no thoughts of trying to evade attacks while casting. The first-year planted her feet firmly on the ground, standing as stably as she possibly could despite the mild, nervous tremble of her entire body.

To her momentary glee, the blue jet of her spell hit the upperclassman. Just barely, too. It came at a price, of course, because two sets of sparks, cast by two fifth-years, created fireworks right in front of the redhead's face, turning her entire world green for a few intensely uncomfortable moments. She took a few seconds to regain some of her vision - which was still mostly greenish and rather blurry - before wandering back over to team Verdimillious.

''I'm so sorry for inflicting this on you thrice,'' she said to the figure that she really hoped was River, although it was hard to be certain with the aftereffects of the disabling spell still playing tricks on her vision. But now that she had experienced first-hand what it felt like, apologizing felt like the least she could do. Well, that and refraining from casting at River again, should she end up in team Flipendo once more.

Henry seemed to think that her strategy had somehow failed. Huh? In Liana's view, her strategy had worked exactly as she had hoped. Of course, the absolute best-case scenario would have been to stay on team Flipendo, but that seemed like a horribly unrealistic goal to strive for. ''It worked just fine, I think,'' was all she said, squinting to try and focus on what Delilah was now doing. Had it really been the best idea to cast at such a menacing opponent? At the moment it certainly seemed so. Right now she wasn't so sure about that anymore. Well, at least nobody could take away the knowledge that she had somehow, miraculously - likely due to everyone underestimating her - managed to jinx a fifth-year.

Welp, that backfired. her typical routine of bouncing on the balls of her feet didn't quite work as she got blasted in the chest with a flipendo. Certainly not what she expected in a game where she was one of the quickest going. How on earth did Liana hit her? She was impressed and yet surprised.

A small amount of panic passed through her as she moved across to the other team and realised everybody stood against her, she was alone on this team. She looked around to double check that that was actually what was going on. She looked to Liana, of course this was a game and didn't matter too much, but she definitely wasn't a fan of playing by herself against everybody else. It was a bit threatening, the line of people standing across from her, a lot of them taller than her, even if she was older.

That was the weird thing, even though she was older than basically everybody she knew, it was rare that people her age were shorter than her, being the oldest and the smallest definitely had its issues. The amount of times she had asked people to get books from a higher shelf before she found out the books were magic in first year was almost impressive.

But either way, she had to focus now, this was it, the turning point in the game.

Statistically, the chances of Liana aiming at Autumn were extremely low, but Autumn's group was, at this point, so large that she didn't really feel that she wanted to risk her spell accidentally rebounding back at her for the sake of possibly hitting the first year. And maybe she felt a little bit bad, so what? So, she got prepared to dodge, flinching as the expected light of the Flipendo spell hit towards her group from Liana's wand, and a few wands shot out green sparks towards Liana in response. Wait... Liana had gotten hit! Twice! So, were they all on the same team now? What was next?

Oh, no, was Delilah switching? Huh, Liana had aimed high and actually hit her target. Autumn could respect that. Maybe she had underestimated the first year. It was somewhat of a shame that the snake was getting paid for her success by once again being on the opposite team to the fifth year with the splitting spells.

Oh, well. Delilah might have been the scary fifth year duellist with the weird, spell-splitting thing, but she was also by herself, seriously outnumbered by Autumn's team. She couldn't see this ending up too badly for her. The only unfortunate thing was that every other time Autumn had thought that, something had somehow gone terribly. She wasn't much of a hoper, but she wasn't much of a loser, either, and she wasn't planning on becoming either through the remaining duration of the game.

Scarlet wondered if Liana would say anything about her being the choice of her own attack now that the two were back to being on the same team, though in all fairness, Scarlet had equally been someone that Liana had aimed for at one point two. She thought as long as it didn't come up, she wouldn't be the one to mention anything about it.

"Well, you know I bet I could have gotten you if I wanted to," she said jokingly, "and I guess, now I know that I'm not safe when it comes to a duel against you, I won't put you so far down on my target list next time," she said laughing. She didn't mind at all that she had been hit by him, in fact she would have joked with him all the same if he hadn't, he was a duellist for the house team and she wasn't, it would have been as much of a laugh if he hadn't managed to hit her.

"Don't worry about me," she said with a slight grin, "you might be able to get the hits in, but you make sure that you don't get hit yourself," she joked.

She was surprised there was even the need for another round, but Liana had managed to get someone, she was pretty good at the whole duelling thing, though that was something Scarlet would never admit to the girl. "Nice shot," she said lightly to the girl, "good job at keeping the game going," Scarlet was happy that the game had been extended to another round, but figured that was more due to luck.

Round 7 - Done

There was something beautifully chaotic and nonsensical about this game that made it both pointless and immensely interesting. As perceivable by this turn of events, there would be no victor nor loser in a game build such as this and yet it was enjoyable and competitive. It was a flawed masterpiece in a way and had been a joy to oversee. Delilah seemed to get put down by a streak of bad luck as both of her spells went amiss; one more so than the other as it headed toward a fully new target. Autumn luckily had been prepared however and would not get caught by surprise so easily. Henry on the other hand was fueled by a rare sense of power and control that exceeded normal spell casting, with a blast of green light his spell would explode in the face of the girl, blinding her momentarily, her eyes straining under the brightness as her sight was temporarily lost and instead replaced by dancing lights in her vision like tiny sparks from the spell that had affected her moments ago.

The game was concluded and the team of green sparks had won! Delilah as the last survivor of the knockback team had been turned and joined forces with the green sparks team. But against which common enemy? There was no telling, the game was over now and well looked like everyone had won in a way. Alan would congratulate the students and offer a healing spell to Scarlett, restoring some of her health so she would be more comfortable immediately.
