THIS IS A PRIVATE THREAD FOR:
@Lily Cooper, @Juniper Kelly, @Jack Warren, @Elena Jangleton, @Elizabeth Lovett, @Shanelle Meza and Professor @Halford Booth
DATE: November 23rd, 2021 | TIME: 6:00 pm / 18:00
Evening had taken its full hold on the day, leaving only the torches on the walls to illuminate the classroom. A glance through the windows would merit only a view of darkness, as the outside world had been entirely enveloped by the void of night.
Focusing inward, the room enjoyed a much warmer feel, in both mood and physical comfort. Empty desks having been pulled from the center of the room, there was sufficient space for arts of many styles. Whether it be dance, song, or... well, gymnastics.
Professor Booth eyed the unsightly beam with vexation. Paired with the surrounding bars, it made for a veritable playground fit for the group's self-proclaimed gymnast, and yet another source of irritation for the group's head.
Exactly why, he wondered, had the decision been made to put this particular set of students in an empty classroom? While the room was quite spacious, with high ceilings and a consistent floor design, the grounds or the rehearsal room would have been ideal for a group with a gymnast and two ballerinas. Not to mention the contortionist, for whom had been placed a hand-balancing base, a suitcase of medium size, and a wooden trunk.
What was the deal with all these unusual talents, anyhow? What had ever happened to things that he could enjoy - good, wholesome talents such as sitting quietly for the entire time he was forced to endure the presence of a younger generation? Silence was sadly out of the question, as evidenced by several violin cases lined up carefully against one wall.
A single roll of bandages also rested on one desk. Its purpose was unclear, but he cared little, so long as nobody bled on him.
Turning on his heel, Booth stalked to the front of the classroom, where a chalkboard welcomed students to the event and outlined each group member, along with their respective talents.
Brown eyes glossed over the board with increasing distaste, lingering on the cheery welcome message written at the top. He'd have recognized the handwriting anywhere; frilly and overly extravagant, just like its owner. Always exaggerating the excitement and "feel-good" nature of any given situation. Never deeming to leave a man be, despite many, many... so many requests otherwise.
The fact that Orion had roped him into this absurd event ate at Booth more than anything, and the members of his assigned groups were the unfortunate recipients of his ire, particularly in the caustic set of his features.
Taking a seat to one side of the board, the professor adopted the pose that had remained consistent throughout the night: crossed arms, crossed legs, and stoned-faced discontent.
As students passed through the classroom door, he would offer only an offhanded gesture toward the various curiosities scattered about the room, clearly indicating that they should begin.

Juniper would take any chance to freak- cough impress people with her talent. Or was it a curse? Or simply the absence of a spine in her body, which was a possibility. Whatever it was she was ready to show it all off. She was less excited about having to trust the teachers in getting the right things that she needed, but oh well! She wore a silver iridescent body suit and her curly hair was tied back so it wouldn't be in her face, not that she was worried about it.
She just disliked that she had to wait until 6 PM to do this- were they the last group? probably. Like, seriously? According to the paper she got, it was in a classroom on the second floor. So it was totally okay for her to be early since she knew where it was! So she headed down at about 5:40 since she just assumed she would take forever to get there, but she really didn't. She stood outside the door, glancing down the corridor to see if other students were coming. Being alone in a classroom with a professor was the worst, so she hoped someone else would come soon.
When 6 came, she entered the room and looked at the curly writing on the board, then at the professor sitting with a neutral face. She lifted her arm up high and waved it back and forth obnoxiously in response to his half-hearted greeting- if he even gave one to her. He seemed bored before anyone even began. "Am I the first? Cool!"
Not cool.
She walked over to where her supplies were and checked to see if everything was there. Sure was. She grinned and took off her ratty jeans that were over the body suit she had on. She rubbed her hands together and set them on the hand balancing base. You could see the muscles at work in her small arms as she pulled her body up off the ground.
She lifted one leg up behind her, then the other. She straighened her legs out over her head and stood there, feeling very proud.

Elena hadn't even known there was a day dedicated to celebrating everyone's talents but once it had been announced, the Gryffindor was hardly going to stand around and linger while everyone else revealed what secret skills or abilites they had been storing away. It was known to a few and only a very select few that the brunette could play a mean tune or two on her violin, something she did ever so rarely. This day provided a good oppturnity if anything to display that chance and about time too, the instrument had been gathering nothing but dust and other forms of grime on the ground as the girl stooped down to give the violin one gentle pluck letting the note linger in the dormitory for one moment before nodding to herself. She had a couple of minutes to head to head down and it would be quite the diaster if her instrument sounded like a dying horse.
After fine-tuning the strings and cleaning her bow, she began the trek down to the classroom with violin case in hand that would attract more than just a few curious eyes, the girl was sure. She already had a fair few ideas of what songs she would play though really, that was dependent on the audience that was present. Elena was also curious to see what other talents had been brought to the table and for a brief moment, she was suddenly reminded of the talent show they had a year or so back though thankfully, this wasn't as much of a big group but it would still be a remarkable feat to play in front of people, it wasn't something she did often but a habit she was slowly growing into. "Forget being an Auror, maybe I'll just go into music or something." Elena murmured to herself tilting her head to check she had arrived at the correct classroom before slipping inside.
At first, the blackness flooded her, the only source of comfort being the torches which danced idly in their brackets as she took a glance around the room setting her case down gently. She had not been the first to arrive but she wasn't the last either, Elena suspected giving a courtesy nod towards the older adult in the room, one Professor Booth whom she hadn't the fortune of running into all that much though Elena reckoned he could use a tune or two judging from his expressions as she turned her attention to the only other participant in the room who looked much more bright and livid than the professor. "Hi! You ready for this thing then?" She asked in the spirit of making some converstation as she stooped downwards to unzip her bag and produce her violin to give it one last examination and make sure a string or something hadn't snapped or something.

her arms needed a break, they started to shake slightly. It wasn't good to tire one's self out before the thing even began. That right there was a disaster just waiting to happen. Determined not to hurt herself before she at least got to freak some people out, she swung her legs down back to the ground. She stumbled slightly, reminding herself she needed to take the landing more slowly. She always forgot that and one day she could, being her clumsy self, hurt herself or something. However, at the moment she wasn't hurt at all, but excited. The tricks she prepared to show were some of her favorites, which included folding into a suitcase. She would do that trick so many times JUST to make people laugh (or freak out).
She brushed her hands off together and smiled as another person walked in. She didnt need to stay in here with a grumpy looking professor thankfully, and this girl looked brighter than the professor who looked like he didnt want to be here. Juniper waved, glad that the girl actually said hi. COUGH PROFESSOR COUGH. "Hi! Yeah! I am sooo ready! Like born ready!" Okay, maybe not, but she was prepared. And excited... and overly confident in herself.
Spotting the violin in the girl's hands, she asked the obvious. "Oh! Is that your talent? Cool beans! " She grinned and, feeling the need to show off, unzipped the suitcase. "See this? Its small... right? I bet you I can fit into it!" She smirked confidently at the girl, stupidly. Juniper was someone who thought she could do anything... literally. And she did her best to! But that made her a bit too confident and show-offy in certain cases, this being one of them.
The girl might thing she was rude, but she isn't like that. She knows everyone's talents are special... bla bla bla... but she felt like HERS were... special. Again, stupid.
@Elena Jangleton dont mind Juni showing off, she's stupid

=== You are weak. For a month now, every morning you've been telling yourself that. Since you lost. You lost the Ravenclaw. And you're not over it. Of course, it's not over. But you're still weak. It's been a long time since you heard that voice. Since you came out of the maze. It came back as you were passing out. On the 16th of October. It's been there ever since. Every morning.
This voice is a goal for you. You want to prove something to it every time. This summer it was that you didn't spend your time studying - which was true. This time you want to prove to it that you can do anything you want. That CYUT, for example. You can get back on a pole. You haven't touched one for four years. It's going to be weird. But you've been practising a bit. You should be fine.
You wanted to arrive early. But as you walked back to the dormitory after class, you wondered if it was worth it. Honestly, apart from pleasing a voice in your head, why are you doing this? Because you want to. Taking a deep breath, you open your trunk and pull out your leotard. You grab a pair of shorts, your Doc Martens and go to change. You grab your favorite jacket, put your wand in your pocket and head downstairs. Hopefully you won't be too late!
When you enter, the first thing you see is the magnificent bar that calls to you. You smile for the first time since Blueberry gave you her cutest face a fortnight ago. Then you notice the two girls and the teacher already there.
- Hello Mr. Booth!
You see a tall girl, probably a fourth year, looking at the youngest, an energetic-looking ginger. The ginger has her feet in a box and has just told the tall girl that she could fit into the box. You're sure she will because you know this girl. Her name is Juniper, and you saved her from serious back problems by correcting a backbend.
- I'm sure you can do it Juniper. How are you?=== 358/800

Players do not need to wait for another person's character to finish their talent before performing their own. For example, if someone else's character is playing the violin and no conclusion to the performance was mentioned, you may still post that your own character performed a dance. IC, if it doesn't make sense that two talents would be done at the same time, then you might write out your character reacting to another's talent, then showing their own once that talent is finished. There simply isn't enough time before the deadline for everyone's talents to [OOC] be performed at separate times.OOC NOTICE
This also serves as a reminder that the errand deadline is December 14th, barely over a week after the time of this notice. Please be certain to meet the word count requirement and detail your character performing their talent before that time. You may continue to role play in this thread following that date, but if the requirements are not met by then, you will receive no rewards for the errand.

She nodded a confirmation to the girl gesturing to her violin, a tool of hers that had been tried and tested and it bore the signs of heavy usage throughout the years. It didn't have the shine or glamour but it performed just as equally or more better than other string instruments. After all, it wasn't the quality of the instrument that mattered but rather the skill and dedication of the musician and as far as Elena Jangleton went, she liked to consider herself very practiced even if the chance to display her playing skills only came around once in a while. "Yeah, been playing since I was a kid and it just stuck." The Gryffindor confessed as she nodded towards the suitcase, a silent question resting on her lips before the girl elaborated for her.
It wasn't too terribly big and that was the joy of it all. She planned to fit herself into the thing and for a moment, Elena had to stop and reconsider. "It is certainly something." She agreed not sure if she would classify that as a talent or something else but she wasn't the one judging as the door swung open again tilting her head to focus on yet another stranger who clearly knew the girl she'd been talking to nodding as she filed the name away for reference. The brunette turned her attention to her own violin giving it an once-over to make sure nothing would go terribly wrong during the performance or blow up in her face, how embarassing that would be and she was attempting to account for everything that could go wrong though thankfully, nothing of the sort had happened yet as she plucked a few strings before settling into a seat to wait until her turn came around.
She was mostly interested in the whole suitcase thing Juniper had going on and she wasn't sure what the other girl had in store but she was keen to see. Before long, the spotlight of attention fell on her and for a moment, that flutter of nerves she'd been feeling all day threatened to overtake her but courage prevailed as she laid her bow gently across the strings of her violin. Her pace was measured and slow playing a nice and steady tune for the audience's ears, something they could bob their head to and keep pace with their foot like the brunette was doing before the tempo would change, more fast-paced, it would switch between slow and quick as she relaxed into a pattern. She'd opted for a Scottish fiddle, a place she was native from and also because most of the music from that area opted to be things she preferred before she concluded on a quivering, high note letting it resonate through the room.
"Thank you." Elena said smiling at the others present, performance completely as she rested her violin on her knee, her hand relaxing with relief with the effort of holding up the instrument to her chin.

The girl nodded and talked about how she's been playing since she was younger. Juniper nodded. "That's cool!" And it was. Juniper, on the other hand, had recently gotten into contortionism. Now she loved doing it. Juniper stood by the suitcase for a few minutes, when Lily walked in. Lily!" She exclaimed. Lily said she was sure that Juni could manage it, and she smiled. Of course she could, she knew it already. She looked at Lily. "And what are you doing, Lily?" She waited for the answer, then watched Elena do something with her violin curiously.
Soon the eyes were on Elena, and Juniper sat crisscross on the ground as she listened to the beautiful music. That was the thing, some people could just create amazing sounds, and it was sooo amazing. Juniper held her hands to her face, shocked. Violin music was so... fancy. When Elena was finished June clapped and looked around to see if anyone else was amazed as she. "That was like, wow! Argh! That was really good." She stood up and gave Elena thumbs up before she walked back over to the suitcase.
Now she could go. She put her feet in, then bent down. She put her legs along the inside of the suitcase, then curved her back so her upper half folded in. She tilted her head to look at everyone. "How many people do y'all know that are this portable?" Most likely NO one.
She got out of the suit case and got on the hand balancing stand. She put her hands up and kicked her legs up.

"Ta daaa!" She grinned and made silly faces. she brought her legs down and got on the ground, doing a way harder than it looked (trust me OOC) pose.

"I'm in half!" She made a face in mock-shock. Then she bent forward to touch her toes, but twisted her back so she was facing everyone. She grinned.

She stood back up and bowed. "That is all I have for now."

=== - Gymnastics. You do contortionism and Elena plays the violin, right?
Elena takes her violin out of its case. She starts to play and you start to warm up to the music. You start with the classic arm and wrist stretches, then the neck stretch. It would be silly to twist anything. Once you've warmed up quickly, you move on to the deeper warm-ups.
You sit on the cold floor, wishing you'd worn tights. You do the usual point-flex, lying completely on your legs, grabbing the tips of your outstretched feet. From this position, you slowly open your legs into a split. You bend to one side, then the other. Then bring your legs back. Then you stand up. You bend down to touch your feet and stay like this for a while. Then you do a few more quick stretches. That's it! You can start.
- That was amazing Elena! Wait, Juni? Are you sure you got all your bones?
Juniper vice on a table, and she was doing a sort of backbend but on her stomach instead of her feet. basically = a contortionist act. You've seen some really flexible people. But Juniper outdid them all. You don't want to let out a cry of surprise when you see her twisting in all directions. Really, this girl is not human.
- Okay... My turn now. Although it was clearly Juni who did the most impressive thing.
You take off your shoes and stay in leotard and shorts. You tremble a little as you touch the beam. You haven't touched it for three years. But you're sure you won't forget. As you step on the beam, you don't shake anymore. All your muscles are tight, you're ready. You start out simple. You stand on the beam and do a cartwheel. You stop for a few seconds in the air.1
Reassured to arrive with both feet on the beam and both hands in the air, you gain confidence. You take two steps and move backwards to get your hands on the bar. You then lift one leg.2 You then lift one leg and put it on the bar, not too far from your hands. Your second leg is still touching the bar, but you slowly lift it up to do a vertical split.3
While remaining in the split, you return your leg that is in the air to its starting position and the second one with it. When you find yourself standing on the beam, you think you might try a jump. You start with the basic jump, a sort of grand jeté on the spot with the back leg bent.4 And your reception is perfect.
Do you continue or not? Frankly, you hesitate. Either you go on with more complex tricks and risk breaking your face, or you make a nice little ending. Being at the end of the beam, you do a cartwheel to get to the centre. Then you do a cartwheel without your hands and do a sort of salto which allows you to be seated on the beam.5 Proudly you step off your beam and bow to your audience. And then you notice that there should have been eight of you. You are only three.
- So, euh... How was it?=== 904/800
