Shyla was nervous, which was an understatement for how internally freaking out she was. When she got her letter, she was so excited to finally do something special to her accord. Her parents are both muggles so she had no idea that magic existed until that letter came. Her parents were quite excited for her, to the point that they nearly told the whole neighbourhood the news! A couple weeks later after they got the letter, they went into Diagonal Alley to buy all of her supplies for her first year at Hogwarts. it was like walking into one of Shyla’s dreams: magical. They bought all of Shyla’s supplies, quite easily surprisingly, and headed back home.

A couple weeks later, Shyla woke up with a wide smile on her face cause it was the day she went to Hogwarts. She was so excited that she got changed, ate her breakfast, grabbed all her things and put them in the car before her mum and dad woke up. Once they woke up, they were shocked to see Shyla sitting in the car waiting. They got in the car and drove her over to the train station. After all the fuss of getting onto the platform, Shyla’s parents wouldn’t stop hugging her. “Oh i’m gonna miss you so much sweetheart!” Her mum wouldn’t stop crying as she spoke and Shyla was just able to slip out of her grip. “It will be fine mum. I’ll owl you every week like i promised and i’ll be back for the first holiday don’t worry”. She smiles at her parents before giving them one last hug and kiss on the cheek before rubbing onto the train.

She started walking down the corridor and looked into each compartment to see all of them full. She sighed, a little disappointed before coming across a compartment that only had one person in it. She took a deep breath, hoping that her confidence will strike through before opening the compartment door and looked at them hopefully. “Hi. um… i- i- is it alright if i sit with you? a- as all the other compartments are full..”. She internally winced at her stutter knowing she probably looks like a bloody idiot.

Youssuf made his way down the train, engrossed in the new book his mother had gifted him. He'd already found two compartments, both about an hour and two hours ago respectively, where everyone was friendly enough. But he just didn't fit in. He looked into every compartment, but they were all full. Then he found a corner room, bigger than the others. A girl had just sat inside, and he had just managed to hear the other girl, a Ravenclaw, introduce herself as Xarea. With only two girls inside, the huge room looked almost empty. It could easily seat six. He shut his book, carefully marking his page. Then he slid the door open, wincing at the squeak it made, and said quietly -
Hey, hi. I'm Youssuf, Youssuf Baid. Nice to meet you. Can I sit here?
Complete silence. It was so silent, Youssuf could almost feel the intense pressure pushing him out the door. He quietly started to make his way out, when the girl called Xarea nodded and introduced herself to him.
Blooming like a flower in the sunshine, he grinned with relief and stuffed his trunk into a rack above. Then he sat beside the other girl, a Hufflepuff with long, black hair. She introduced herself too, as Shyla, with only a slight stutter. Youssuf smiled and thought that the name suited her; she looked like a shy person.

Emerson had dreamed of going to boarding school for as long as she could remember. None of those dreams began with running at a brick wall so she could climb aboard a train with her trunk full of hideous clothing. To make matters worse her parents had not dared set foot on the platform with her. Instead her mother and father had bid her goodbye in the foyer of the station, weeping as though they were the ones sentenced to this horrid fate rather than her.

Once through the barrier, Emerson added her trunk to a pile accumulating near the engine. She didn't care one whit if it was lost forever as her personal items, photographs of her horse Unity and her real friends from her real school, were tucked neatly into the messenger bag worn across her body. It would be a great blessing if she never had to see the wand, robes, or horrid cauldron ever again.

When Emerson stepped aboard the train she paused for a moment to smooth out her navy blue jumper and sensible gray skirt. She had purposefully worn this outfit because it reminded her of the uniform she ought to be in, one that made her look like a smart young professional, not a nutter. Rather than spend ages searching for the ideal spot, Emerson walked up to the nearest compartment. A normal looking boy stood in the door talking to the normal looking girl seated inside.

"Could I join you as well?" she asked "I only need a small spot to read."

"Au revoir maman!"
The girl was trembling with anxiety. She had never had a true friend, let alone a compartment full. She searched through the train for an less empty compartment, she never found interest in people. She glanced through the windows to see: a girl with obnoxious blonde pigtails, a boy with a jet-black pixie, two identical dark girls, two identical fat boys, four obnoxious boys with mullets.. Ew she thought. These were obvious pure bloods she had already been warned about these. "I swear if I'm in Hufflepuff, I'll bloody kill myself!" said a one of the male twins as he shook his head stupidly in mild agony. The next compartment she saw contained 3 children; a wise girl with two braids, a tough boy with sharp, brown eyes, and a small, ecstatic girl wearing her best smiles and giggles. Celeste let out a long sigh. Her hand trembling she knocked on the door. "Uhm.. uhm.. is this compartment taken?" Her voice was extremely shaky her crystal, dark eyes were scanning the room trying not to make eye contact. "I promise I won't bite... I mean uhm..." She fondled with her books almost dropping 'A History Of Magic' "Sorry.."

John barreled into the station, a small gash on his cheek and a bloody nose from running into the wrong wall. He grabbed his case and sprinted up the stairs, barely making it on time on the train before it started moving. He immediately starts looking for a seat, running down the hallways. He narrowly avoids barreling right into a pale looking girl, and winds up falling in front of her. He yelps, as he falls and hits his head against a wall before standing up abruptly, and starts looking into the compartment.

after looking for an unusually long time, he shakes his head, and walks in. he starts putting his case under the seat, saying while he does it, "Hope you guys don't mind me joining you too badly. You guys were the first compartment I saw with at least one open seat, so I decided to sit here."

John then pulls out 'Fantastic Beasts' and starts reading it, looking at each of the creatures listed in wonder, hoping to meet them someday, before a drop of blood from his nose falls onto the book. He grimaces, then wipes his nose with his arm, leaving a smear on his jacket sleeve.

Aspirations and expectations would slowly unfold for young Bancroft. The pureblooded youth would amble onto the train, entering through Platform 9 and three-quarters. A place that existed in a pocket of space one could argue, like a pocket dimension that defied a muggle's basic sense of physics that was simply explained by most wizards as "magic" *insert jazz hands*. He loathed the simplistic explanations, the basic cause and effect that most wizards abided -- do this and that will transpire as it is the result of your arcane talent and fantastic will. A this then a that, not a why beyond the catch-all that this was changed to that by it which was magic.

It was his scholastic hope to finally be edified under the tutelage of something greater than the private instructors that had taught him through the rigors of memorization. Of course no expense was spared in procuring those somewhat adequate minds to mold his own, he just found their offerings to be lackluster.

The future Ravenclaw would find a compartment with an open seat and invite himself to sit. He had no issue with introductions, polite banter or travel away from all that was known and familiar. In fact, he considered the aforementioned to be exhilarating. A compartment full of readers. He was not sure how to take that, not that he was particularly against books but not at the expense of experience. He would take off his scarf, a thick, long grey wooly piece that he would drop over [next post]'s open book. "Sorry," not sorry really. "Thing has a life of it's own," he lied as easily as some might breathe. "Bancroft Serafino, charmed to make your acquaintance."

John frowns as the scarf falls on his book, then brushes it off, completely ignoring the scarf. he turns to the next page, then picks up the scarf and puts it in his book as a mark for his spot. He then puts the book in his bookbag and looks up to see a boy with blond hair in front of him saying, "Sorry, thing has a life of it's own. Bancroft Serafino, charmed to make your acquaintance."
John looks confused before looking into his bookbag at the scarf in horror. he immediately pulls the book out and gingerly removes the scarf from it. "I'm so bloody sorry! I thought it was bookmark, not a living thing!" He cautiously starts looking at the scarf to see if it's alive. whne nothing happens, he wails, "It's dead! I killed a... a... hey Bancroft, what kind of creature is this? I've never seen one before." He looks over at Bancroft and hands the scarf back to him cautiously, as if the scarf might attack him. he then stands up and asks the others in the compartment, "Hey, what kind of creature is it? I don't think it's actually alive, now that I think about it."

"...was, seems as if you murdered it." Bancroft would seemingly lament as he withdrew the unfortunate, slain bit of limp wool. A lie of course, potentially harmless but there was a fine line between a joke and preying on the impressionable nature of some. "But he lived a good, vibrant life," he mused.

He left the 'corpse' on the seat beside him. "I will give him a proper burial after we arrive," at Hogwarts, the last part left unsaid.

What was it called?

"A scarf," he answered both truthfully and intentionally, emphasis on the C. "The proudest and noblest of its kind," he smiled with a slight twinkle in his eye. "Or I am just joshing you," he proclaimed, his time of mourning now over. "Just find reading when traversing, when experiencing something new... it would be a waste. That a life lived must be experienced. There is a saying about it even: It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts." This was the start of an adventure, the turning of the metaphorical page in their stories. There were people to meet, allies and foes to make, cherished ones to get to know and neighbors to tolerate.

"I am looking forward to the truth regarding Hogwarts, a den of madness and chaos or merely a place as dangerous as one makes it. Of the cohabitation of muggleborns and wizards. Of halfbreeds," an alarming notion truth be told. There was an implicit fear associated with lycanthropy and dhampirism and yet they would be living, learning and sleeping at their side.

Youssuf laughed at the other Gryffindor. He liked Bancroft, he decided. His wit was sharp. He disagreed with the Slytherin, though, on the matter of reading while journeying. He believed George RR Martin, himself - “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.” in a Dance of Dragons.
He opened his mouth for the first time in the compartment - "Halfbreeds aren't that bad. I have a dhampir friend myself, on this train. I think she's not too bad. Also, the 'cohabitation of Muggleborns and wizards is the same bloody thing - we're all wizards, and a pureblood can have weak magic too, while a Muggleborn can be a powerful wizard. Just look at the former Minister of Magic, Hermione Granger."
He took a breath and introduced himself - "I'm Youssuf Baid. Indian born and bred, pureblood, although I couldn't care less about that."
Youssuf casually touched the scarf on the empty seat beside him. "I'm checking for a pulse," he said jokingly, "It might not be dead."
He tossed it at Serafino, along with a Acid Pop he'd taken from the trolley a few minutes ago.
"Enjoy, guys." He placed 5 Exploda Sodas on the table and a few assorted sweets, all taken from within his voluminous trunk.

Celeste looked from her book to two bags of assorted sweets, fizzing Exploda Sodas, and an untouchable acid pop from the trolley. Two more people had entered the compartment unnoticed by Celeste's attention. The acid pop was clutched in a boys hand. "That's an acid pop." She said carefully muttering each word. The blonde girl pushed away her, almost white, choppy ribbons of hair out of her eyes as she glanced out the window. She was very hesitant to say any more. She made sure to give the table of sweets a wide birth as she stacked all her books on the table. It certainly was a load. "Are you sure it isn't poisoned?" She said accusingly. "I have read about the many poisonous drafts wizards have invented! You must know all of them being a pure blood!"
Tension was high. Celeste was disgusted on what she said, she really didn't mean it. The anxiety had all just been bolting up to its highest extent. She started twitching, this always happened when she was mad. She almost hated every person in the compartment, though she did not want to leave it. She hid her head in 'Hogwarts a History'. Celeste expected this, she had always been clingy. The compartment was tense.
