Calypso Castellanos | First Year | Gryffindor

HISTORY
Calypso grew up in Greece, with a love for the ancient monuments. When she was nine, her family moved to Penzance, Cornwall, where her mother had grown up and where her family lived. Her father was a Greek wizard, and met her mother when she went to Greece on holiday one year. He was happy to move to Penzance, he knew that Calypso and her siblings would go to Hogwarts when they were old enough. Calypso has a twin brother, named Atlas and a ten year old sister named Iris.

Calypso’s first instance of magic was in fact, quite unusual. Her and her brother were wandering along Penzance beach, when Calypso found a clam shell, with a Pearl in it. Naturally, she went up walk over it, not realising it being there, and the Pearl moved so it was not crushed. Then, she reached down, grabbed it, and found that it was just a normal Pearl.

Since arriving at Hogwarts, Calypso has been sorted into Gryffindor. It was quite unexpectedly, as she was often known as a “bookworm”, so was expecting Ravenclaw. However, her twin brother Atlas was also sorted into Gryffindor, so at least they were still together. Not quite sure what to make of the situation, the two of them are currently trying to fit in, something neither of them had done at any of their previous schools.
