After Supper Has Ended
About to meet @Antoinette Asteria in the corridors.

Classes were done for the evening and supper was letting out in the Great Hall. There was the normal rush of students, but instead of hurrying to their classes, many were hanging out within the school's corridors just looking for something to do or killing time with their friends. For many, this was a fun time but not for a small statured Ravenclaw boy who Simon saw down the hall. This boy, short for his age, was jumping up and down trying to retrieve a book that a Slytherin boy held up just out of the boy's reach and seemed to beam with satisfaction over him not able to grab it.
Teasing. Simon hated that sort of thing. "Stop being a git and give him back his book,"he said to the boy, not knowing his name. He had seen him around before but he was a year or two older than Simon so he didn't share any classes with him. Simon watched as the Slytherin boy paused and looked his way, seeming irritated that someone was interrupting his 'game.'
"What business is it of yours?" he heard the boy say as he was presented with a glare. Simon looked right to him, not backing down at all. The two were of similar height, even with Simon being two years younger. The joys of being a dhampir. Increased maturity.
"None, truly. Just like that book isn't any damn business of yours." The boy looked to to Simon and lowered the book so he could shove the Hufflepuff - only Simon didn't move the slightest. Not one bit.
Simon's gaze didn't lower from the Slytherin boy's and he snatched the book out of his hands quickly and passed it over to the Ravenclaw. The Slytherin seemed a bit surprised by the sudden movement and glanced to a friend that was nearby and seemed rather embarrassed. "Shove off," the Slytherin muttered before motioning for his friend to follow and the two hurried off down the corridor.

Mum wasn't kidding. This place was fantastic.
Annie loved finding cool hidden areas that no one else knew about, and little secret passageways that turned into shortcuts. Hogwarts was one big mystery. The staircase liked to change on a whim, making Annie lost whilst trying to get back to the common room that evening, after a truly scrumptious dinner in The Great Hall.
Not that she minded. She loved this sort of thing. The corridor was lined with Suit of Armour on either side, and portraits of famous witches and wizards, who waved and smiled at her as she passed. The ceiling was so high, she could barely see it, and beside each Knight was a large wall sconce, keeping the dark corridor lit. She gazed around in awe. Near the end of the corridor was an archway, where Annie could just make out daylight. Ah. She was going in the right direction.
Hang on - what was going on? She turned the end of the corridor just in time to see a boy snatch a book out of the other's hand and pass it back to its owner. The two boys looked startled, but just about managed to hold up a pretence. Annie smiled.
"That was a kind thing you did," she told him, having always appreciated kindness. It was a trait people seemed to take for granted, but it was so important. She glanced to the other boy. "Are you okay? Don't worry about them, they're just idiots."

The other boy nodded, agreeing that those that stole his book were idiots and gave a small smile to the girl and Simon before dashing off down the corridor. Just as he was too shy to speak up for or defend himself from his book being taken, Simon figured he was quite shy to say hello. Hopefully he would meet some friends as the school year continued and that confidence could grow.
"I don't understand how anyone could get any sort of pleasure at someone's misfortune," he said honestly to the girl that approached. "Guess perhaps some are just wired differently." And as much as Simon tried not to judge others, because it wasn't his place, he couldn't help but be annoyed that some of the students within this school - or any school at all - would bully some of the other kids.
"I'm Simon," he introduced himself because he didn't know the girl. "Simon Kincaid." He looked over her attire and noticed the Gryffindor tie and emblem on her school robes. It was a rather noble house to be in - one that many of his friends were in and also his mother had been a Gryffindor herself when she attended Hogwarts.

To Annie's surprise, she'd just met someone who was more shy than she was. The boy gave them each a timid little smile, an agreeable nod, and then hurried off down the corridor and out of sight without so much as a hello or goodbye. She watched him go with a knowing smile. She understood that feeling well.
Annie nodded in agreement. "I know," she told him. "I hate seeing people teased like that. It makes me so angry." She scowled at the thought, before realising she was talking to a complete stranger. The boy seemed to realise too and began to introduce himself. She noticed him surveying her attire closely and suddenly felt oddly hot, as though she were being X-rayed.
"I'm Antoinette Asteria," she replied with a shy sort of smile. He was quite a bit taller than Annie, and looked a little older than her, but not by much. Still, there was a definite air of confidence about him, and the sense that he was a lot more comfortable in this environment than she was. "But everyone just calls me Annie. I'm a little lost," she added, as though she needed to explain why she was aimlessly wandering the corridors after supper.

Offering help to @Antoinette Asteria
"Pleasure to meet you, Annie," he said and he was going to reach out to extend out his hand to offer a handshake but he decided to present her with a bow instead. Okay, it was perhaps a little TOO formal of a gesture and he smiled, feeling a little embarrassed by it but never enough to apologize. He only usually apologized for his behavior if he got too angry, not for foolishness. Sometimes one needed a little foolishness in their lives. Kept them humble.
"Well, Annie...you're in luck. Not only am I Simon Kincaid, Second Year Hufflepuff, but I also happen to be Simon Kincaid, your official Guide to Hogwarts. I could tell you how to get to the Basements, the Quidditch Training Pitch, the Herbology greenhouses, or even perhaps a secret passageway or two...given the right price." His smile grew. "Kidding, only kidding. No charge!"
He tried to sound as 'official' as he could but then went to lean against the wall so that some fellow students could have room to pass by. He might have been only Second Year but he knew he was bigger by nature. Taller and had broader shoulders. It was probably the dhampir nature in him that caused the increased maturity.
When he could now see the Gryffindor again, he lowered his 'tour guide' facade and focused his attention back on her. He didn't want a fellow student feeling lost - whether it was a question she had about something or directions on how to get somewhere. He remembered how big this castle felt just one year ago.
"What can I help you with?"

2nd November | Lost in one of the many Hogwarts corridors, 19:30 | @ Simon Kincaid
Annie smiled shyly as Simon bowed. It was very courteous. She’d never seen a boy be so polite before. ”It’s nice to meet you too.” Antoinette had never been very good at this, but so far, she hadn’t made a complete fool of herself. Simon straightened up and looked a little embarrassed himself, easing Annie’s nerves. She smiled encouragingly, hoping he knew she appreciated his manners.
She giggled and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. He was funny. ”The Quidditch Pitch sounds so cool!” Annie replied eagerly. She’d yet to get that far into the grounds. Everything was so grand. ”I can’t wait to start my flying lessons. It’s one of the things I’m not excited to do. Do you like flying?” She added, her curiosity getting the better of her.
A bunch of students passed by, and Annie followed Simon’s lead and moved to the side. She noticed how large he was in comparison to most students she knew. Even for a second year, he was considerably broader than the other boys. Annie felt tiny in comparison. ”Well..” She began, toying with the idea. How much time did they have left until curfew? ”I was trying to get back to the common room, but you’ve peaked my interest.” She smiled, hoping he wouldn’t mind. ”Do you have a favourite area at Hogwarts?”

Awaiting a decision by @Antoinette Asteria
"Ah, Gryffindor is clear up on the Fifth Floor," he said but she didn't seem as intent on getting back there just yet anymore. "Me, I like the Rehearsal Room the best because there's a piano and hello...piano, do I really need to say more? They've also got one of those really old crank gramophones so it's the only place within the castle that I believe you can listen to music." Crazy how Hogwarts had no technology, no electricity. He understood it complicated the magic, but still! Music!
"That and I like the Library. I don't come from a magical background myself so I spend a good deal of my free time researching everything there is the research. From the history of things, magical plants, the creatures. This whole wizarding world is quite amazing," but he probably didn't need to tell her that. From magic or not, she would probably share the same viewpoint being there at Hogwarts and all.
"You might have already found those two places though." Or at least the Library. Sometimes some of the professors gave specific lessons during those first weeks specifically so the students would find the library and learn how the librarian and library elves worked and what services they offered.
"But as your official tour guide, I'm at your service no matter where you'd like to go. Common Room, Girls Lavatory...although I'd stay outside. I'm not a freak, the Rehearsal Room or Library, or any other place your heart desires. What will it be, Annie?"

”Ah, right!” Annie said, then giggled at her own bad sense of direction. ”Uh… What floor are we on now?” He probably thought she was such an idiot. He was being very find though, and Antoinette’s eyes sparkled at the mention of a piano. ”Oh, I love the piano!” She enthused dreamily. ”I used to take dance classes before I started at Hogwarts; dancing while my grandad played the piano was one of my favourite things to do.” She smiled fondly at the memory. ”Do you play?”
Annie couldn’t argue with that. Even with a witch for a mother, she found the magical world vast, beautiful and terrifying all at the same time. ”I know what you mean. My Mum’s a witch, but my Dad is a muggle. I grew up mostly as a muggle; I don’t think they wanted to share that much with me until I showed any magical ability. Knowing about all this, but not being able to come here… That would be horrible.”
Simon was so very nice, Annie found herself grinning up at him, thoughts of going back to the Gryffindor Common Room long forgotten. ”Can we go to the Rehearsal Room?” She asked excitedly. ”I want to see this piano!”
There were no doubt countless other rooms with more magical trinkets and things to see, but for some reason, Annie felt the need to see this more, muggle-like room. She’d been to the Library a few times already; it was true, each Professor had given homework that had required extra research and she’d found herself meeting quite a few library elves and even the librarian.

Tour Guide Simon helping @Antoinette Asteria through the corridors
She asked where they were and it was the perfect opportunity to slip into Tour Guide Simon mode.
"Ah, right now, Miss Annie, our current location is on the Second Floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Second Floor is home to a few of the staff's offices, the Study Room, and you'll see that it is aligned with bookcases and a small seating area," he moved his hands as they passed to showcase the small seating area. "There's a tetrptych of Helena Ravenclaw at one end, and some suits of armour."
They were about halfway down the corridor when he placed out his hand again for her to pause. There, along the corridor, was a tapestry and he brushed it aside. "See? You learn things when you take the tour." He moved it aside to reveal a narrow staircase that lead to the ground-floor. This would be quite useful when it was super busy, as some didn't know this particular way.
"We're on route to the Rehearsal Room, which houses the piano. It's location is on the Fourth Floor of this magnificent castle. Ah, Hogwarts. A former caretaker once called this place 'the finest school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world.' It was founded around 990AD by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin."
"Come now, follow me. This way." They began up another staircase. A couple portraits waved as they passed and Simon always made sure to wave back.
