[font=Corbel Light]Annie was so angry!

She'd always had a bit of a temper - too much fire, too much spirit - she'd heard that countless times from those who knew her best. Sure, she was shy and introverted around strangers, but anyone who knew Annie well enough, knew she could be a little headstrong. Especially when someone was being deliberately horrible, like that Cody boy!

She was doing her best to keep her emotions under control, but he was just so mean! She couldn't work out what she'd done to offend him, but he'd taken a dislike to her ever since their first night at Hogwarts. She paced up and down beside the lake, her little fists balled inside her thick gloves and her face pink from more than just the cold. She almost pulled her woolly hat from her head and throw it to the ground, but it was from Grandma Asteria, and had been made specially for her. Annie loved it far too much to throw so carelessly to the ground. Still, it had been tempting for a moment there.

The weather wasn't quite freezing yet, and Annie could still throw a stone or two into the lake, much to her relief. It was a good outlet and oddly satisfying to see how far she could throw it and how neat she could make the splash. She wiped an angry tear from her cheek as she stared out at the beautiful calm, still water, her arms folded tight across her chest.

If only The Giant Squid was here. Annie loved that creature. They'd only met a couple of times, but she liked to think they'd made a small bond, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Opeila was having a great time, as far as her circumstances allowed. For a few days now, the Healing Interns had been preparing to cure cursed students of this parasite that had attacked far too many of them. That included the third year and while she had gotten used to the black skin of her legs, she was now reminded that it was not a part of her. It wasn't natural, but dangerous and despite the curing method had been proven effective, Opeila was hesitant to allow herself to feel relief or to hope even.

As she often did these days, Opeila seeked the fresh air to clear her mind of those circling thoughts that never seemed to lead anywhere. Her cat- who had significantly grown since the last winter, she noticed- had accompanied her and was now running over the grounds, chasing whatever scent he could find. At least there were no wasps around this time of year.

Opeila blew into her hands and rubbed them against one another while she walked down towards the lake, trying to keep them warm. It was her grandmothers creme coloured winter coat she was wearing that still carried the faint scent of her perfume on it, but apparently it was wearing off as well. Opeila used to take it out of her trunk in her second year from time to time, only to remind herself of Lady Margary's smell, but now she sometimes couldn't smell it anymore. Well, maybe it was better that way. Opeila knew herself that she shouldn't be holding on to ghosts.

The coat was a good one, it kept her warm. Her long brown hair was tied back in a braid and she had put on a green beanie. All lovely gifts from her family. Her old family.
It was only when Opeila reached the lake that she saw another person stand by it. A little girl, probably first or second year, was throwing stones into the water, looking rather stressed.

After a few seconds, Opeila decided to walk over. Company was not the worst thing right now, why not get to know someone new? "Hi", she said, hoping that she wouldn't startle the girl, "Are you alright? You look as if the lake personally offended you." She sent the girl a light smile.

[font=Corbel Light]Somewhere in the back of her mind, Annie caught the scent of perfume - something classic and old timely. But she was far too engrossed in her own thoughts and feelings to pay it any mind. It wasn't until a voice appeared - a girl's - that Antoinette hitched in a shaky breath and looked to her left. There, looking cold and in a large white coat, was the owner of the voice. She was a little older than Annie, a little taller, with dark hair that fell down her back in a braid.

Feeling embarrassed, Annie quickly wiped her eyes and hastily averted her eyes. She hadn't been crying; a few angry tears had escaped, that's all. Nothing to see here. Still, it was kind of the girl to ask and she looked genuinely concerned. Annie gave her a little smile. She'd always been shy but was feeling doubly so now.

"Not the lake, no," she replied with a small chuckle. "It's, um-" How did she say this without coming across as pathetic? "It's just this boy!" She exclaimed, frustration erupting out of her. "He's just so mean! I don't know WHAT I've done to offend him, but he's been cruel to me since my first night at Hogwarts."

Opeila's heart sank a little when the little girl she had just interrupted wiped her eyes. So a crying child... Immediately she had to think of her own first year. Yes, Opeila had been an often crying first year for sure and sure as hell had it put some people off. But she definitely had her reasons then and she was sure that this girl had hers too.

As expected, the kid looked rather uncomfortable having been caught in an emotional moment and looked at Opeila with a smile, which she gladly returned. Hopefully she could cheer the little one up a bit, whatever this was about. Finally the girl started to speak, telling Opeila that it wasn't the lake- well, that had been more of a joke anyway, but the lake was for sure a good and secretive listener!- but a boy. Oh boy. First year boy problems.

Another thing that Opeila could relate well. A certain redhead had really made her life a bit difficult in first year, that was for sure. Probably- hopefully- this first year's problems were a little different, but still... It didn't feel nice. "What- Boyfriend problems or-" The third year closed her mouth again when the girl started to complain about how mean that boy was and how cruel since her first night at Hogwarts. "Oh? What kind of cruel is that? Muggleborn hater cruel or something else? I mean, only if you're comfortable telling me about it.", Opeila offered.
