Here We Go Again
Lizzy had wandered out to the Great Lake again. It had to be, what, the seventh time she had come out here? The lake just had a soothing quality about it, and Lizzy was able to think out here, away from the rest of the chaotic Hogwarts. She loved it, it was everything she had hoped it would be when she read about it in her letter, but it could get a little overwhelming sometimes. Out here, Lizzy could enjoy the peaceful and quiet side of the castle. She wondered where the giant squid was lurking beneath the waves. Random? Maybe, but she had never seen it and was curious. The older students had said many things to the younger first years about it. Most were meant to scare them, but some of the older students took pity on them and told them the whole truth about the squid.
Lizzy found a shaded spot under a tree and sat down. She looked out to where the water was splashing around in choppy little waves. Some students were swimming. Lizzy thought they must be mad, it was the middle of autumn and was chilly outside. They'd catch their deaths out in the water. She recognized most of the swimmers were her fellow Gryffindors, and rolled her eyes. Just because they were supposed to be the brave house didn't mean they had to do stupid things.
Lizzy had thought it was going to take time to warm up to the house of Gryffindor, but to her surprise it had not. All of the Gryffindors she had met were really friendly and welcoming to her. She had thought the Hat was going to place her in Ravenclaw, it had pretty much told her she had all the Ravenclaw traits. It placed her in Gryffindor at the last second however. Now, Lizzy wouldn't change that for any other house. She loved the warm environment and best of all, all the pressure she had once carried off her shoulders.
With a start, Lizzy realized she had been spaced out, staring into the waves. What did it matter though? No one was going to judge her here where no one knew what she was like back home. Coming here was like a blank slate, a fresh start. No one knew anything about her past life and Lizzy would make sure it would stay that way. She settled back against the tree and allowed herself to space out, staring at the waves of the lake once more.

Here We Go Again
Bluebell stormed out of the castle. She wasn't angry and nothing had upset her, but she liked the feeling of running outside. She did it a lot back home in the fields just behind their garden. She skidded to a halt just before the lake. It was the first time that she went close to it.
Carefully, she bend down and dipped her fingers into it. Cold. No wonder, the summer came to an end and it slowly got colder and colder outside. She wondered how it would feel to get out of her shoes and socks, to cramp up her trousers and to wade into the water. However, when she dipped her hand further into the water, sending shivers down her spine, she decided against it.
Blue stepped back a few steps and sat down in the grass. It felt good, but also a bit itchy. She smiled watching a few of the students swimming in the lake. A girl shrieked, as her friend, a boy around the age of fifteen, splashed water onto her from behind. He laughed and dived fully underwater before the girl could splash him back. The girl shrieked again, but this time with a bubbly undertone in it, while being pulled underwater. Bluebell smiled; she wished she could have a friend to do those things with. Adrian. Oh, how she missed him!
She watched the swimming students for a while. Suddenly, she had that uncomfortable feeling, the one you get when somebody is looking at you from where you can't see it. She turned around to stare at a girl leaning against a trunk. Should she talk to her? Before Bluebell had time to overthink, she cupped her hands and yelled: "Hello!"

Here We Go Again
Smiling to herself as people splashed around in the surely freezing waves, Lizzy continued to watch them silently. She didn't really want to have anybody catch her watching them, but if someone did, it isn't like she would get embarrassed or look away immediately. Sure, she had never been the most confident person, always sitting in the back of the class and never doing well when she had to talk in front of a large group, but Lizzy was trying to change that. Almost no one knew her here, so it was just like a blank slate.
Suddenly, she saw a girl run down to the lake's edge. The girl looked like she was a first year, and her robes indicated her as a Ravenclaw. She dipped her hand into the water, and then after a moment, shivered. Lizzy had thought it was cold, an now she knew just how cold it was. If that girl shivered from just touching it, Lizzy wondered how those kids actually in the lake felt.
Lizzy watched as the girl sat back in the dying grass. She seemed to be watching the people in the lake, just as Lizzy had been a few minutes ago. Lizzy decided to continue to observe the students in the lake, but keep her eye on the Ravenclaw girl.
After a little while of people-watching, the Ravenclaw began to shift around uncomfortably. She turned and looked right at Lizzy. She just stared right back at the girl, not willing to be the first to break eye contact. Finally, the girl yelled hello. Lizzy smirked a little, but if this girl was willing to make friends, so was she. "Hi!" she yelled back.
