I'm sorry this took so long, the past few days have been busy for me

Autumn had been ecstatic to learn that Transfiguration was her first class of the day. Of all the classes, it, and Herbology, had been the ones she was looking forwards to the most, and they had spent many, many hours reading books on both subjects to prepare.
Walking into the classroom, they looked around. It appeared normal enough, with rows of desks for the students as well as a larger one for the teacher, behind which sat said teacher. He appeared to be older, but it was hard to tell; except for strikingly white hair and mustache, he appeared quite limber.
Turning her attention back to the desks, she looked around for an empty seat. Most students had already arrived as expected, seeing as Autumn had gotten lost trying to find the classroom. At least I wasn't late, she thought, spying an empty desk near the back of the room.
Walking over to it, they sat down, taking out a pot of ink, quill, paper, and textbooks and arranging the items in front of themselves. Not exactly the best seat in the room, they thought, but not that bad either. As long as the person I'm sitting next to is tolerable, this should be fine.

The first few days had been a bit of a whirlwind for Aspen, going from each of her new classes to the next. Admittedly, it has been a bit difficult to navigate through the large castle on her own. Perhaps the most confusing and the most frustrating part of the castle thus far has been the moving staircase. She was late to her last class because of them!
Today, Aspen was excited to start attending her first class of Transfiguration. Thus far, she has taken interest in Herbology and Charms, so she was interested in seeing what Transfiguration was about.

The bright eyed girl entered the transfiguration classroom with her school bag over her shoulder. She took a glace around the room for a place to sit. Aspen noticed that most seats were already taken up. She soon decided to take a seat next to one of the Hufflepuff students. The student had curly, fire red hair and emerald green eyes. So far this year, Aspen has been able to make a few friends along the way, but unfortunately she doesn't share any classes with any of them. Maybe this would be her chance to make a new friend?

One minute she was alone, and the next another girl was sitting down next to her. She appeared to be a Ravenclaw, with short, black hair and blue eyes, her skin also freckled, but fair, unlike Autumns.
Moving her books slightly so the other girl had more room. Excitement overruling her usual nerves, Autumn turned toward the other student, smiling.
“Hello! My name’s Autumn. If you’ve seen people who look kinda like me throughout the school, that’s probably one of my siblings.”
Old habits die hard, as Autumn had found out, after the third time they started a sentence that way. Honestly, they didn’t even really look like their other siblings anymore, with Winters’ short-cut hair and Summers dyed one.
Returning to the situation at hand, Autumn shook their head slightly.
“Sorry about that, force of habit.”
Realizing the said ‘conversation’ had been internally one-sided, they winced internally. If only their social skills could magically improve.
Looking around the room, they saw that almost all the seats were filled with students, signaling that class was going to start soon. Eyeing their desk mate out of the corner of their eye, Autumn decided to make an honest attempt at conversation, turning back to her.
“What’s your name?”

For a moment, Aspen was lost in her thoughts. She was thinking of all of the different spells that she might learn that year. While she preferred subjects such as astronomy and herbology, she was certainly interested in the subject of transfiguration. She had read a few books in her private time to prepare for this class. She was most excited about... Well she wasn't sure what she was most excited about. Whatever her first lesson had in store for her would certainly be interesting enough.

At the front of the classroom, Aspen took notice of the teacher. He was an older man with white hair and a white mustache. He seemed to be a bit strong for his age. He was currently busy writing something on the board, but Aspen couldn't see what it was as he was standing in the way. All that Aspen could make out was "Groups." Aspen gulped a bit nervously. She wasn't so keen on being put into groups for an assignment.

Aspen was a bit startled when the girl began to talk to her. She listened before the girl asked for her name."My name is Aspen Fernsby..." she replied to her question."And yours is...?"

Autumns attention was drawn to the front of the room where the teacher was writing something on the board. Craning her neck to peer around him, she saw the word “Groups” on the top of the board in large letters, students’ names being written smaller underneath. Autumn felt a shiver of anxiety. While they were usually confident in a class setting, a stark difference from their usual awkwardness, being assigned a group project before they even knew the majority of the class did not sound fun at all. Then again, Autumn thought, looking back at the person who had sat down next to them, it might not be so bad.
“My name is Aspen Fernsby…. And yours is?”

Aspen, as Autumn just leaned her name was, said, presumably in response to their earlier question. Autumn glanced back at the board, scanning it for a name she recognized. If she could just figure out how the groups were being assigned… not finding anything, or her name she looked back at Aspen.
“I’m Autumn Agapov. Did you see the board? It looks like we’re doing something in groups today.”
Gesturing to the board, Autumn spotted their name with a small ‘oh’. Near the bottom of the board, and next to their name, Autumn Agapov was written Aspen Fernsby.
“Well,” they said with a smile, “It looks like we’re partners!”
