Pleasure to Make Your Acquaintance
"Valerie Laurier! Get down here!" She heard her mother call. Val gasped, brushing off her dress and hurrying out of her room.
"You excited?" A voice quickly interrupted her. Val scoffed. "For another dinner with dad's fancy coworkers? Yeah, definitely. Not like I've been doing this since I was like, five," she said as she walked over to her brother, who was leaning against the wall near his room. "Hey Val, you know I heard," he said, leaning over to whisper in his sister's ear. "Dad's coworkers, the ones coming over tonight, they got a kid, 'bout your age," he leaned back away.
"Really?" Val inquired. When it came to kids her age, she didn't have that many. The kids in muggle school seemed almost impossible to socialize with, while her fellow pureblood kids were usually ten times older than her, about Vivian and Toby's age. She really just had to rely on her family for company. But she hadn't heard of many pureblood kids her age. Maybe it was her chance to socialize for once. After all, she was going to Hogwarts soon, and she figured it would be absolutely horrible if her only company was her two six-year-older twin siblings.
Toby nodded. "VALERIE!" Val swore to herself, "I'll see you later Toby," she said as she hurried down the stairs. "Good luck with Mum, she seems pretty mad," Toby teased. "Oh shut up," Val scoffed. She made her way into her mother and father's room. "Mum?" She called. "Valerie, thank god, have you done your hair?" Her mother questioned. "I mean I combed it-" Val began before her mother grabbed her shoulders and sat her down at the vanity.
"Where's dad?" Val asked as her mother began to braid her hair. "Your father's already greeting our guests at the door- they've arrived," her mother stated with a tinge of annoyance in her voice. "Oh."
"Which is why we must hurry," her mother said as she finished off Val's hair, tying it tightly. Val flinched, but quickly got up and walked to the door. "Valerie," her mother called before Val could leave the room. She paused, but didn't turn around to meet her mother's eyes. "Please behave." Val nodded, leaving the room.
By the time she arrived, her father was already showing them around the house. He noticed Valerie in the corner before waving for her to come over. "Hey Val. Could you do me a favor? Show their son around, will you? He's about your age, perhaps you two could get along," her father whispered. Val hesitated before nodding. She approached the boy. "Hey, I'm Valerie. What's your name?"

Pleasure to Make Your Acquaintance
Flynn had been busy with his parents all day as they continued to teach him about magical beasts. He was always fascinated by them and wanted to follow in his parent's footsteps. His family had been invited to dinner with a coworker of his parents. He wasn't sure why he had to go with them but figured it was nice to meet some new people. His mother called out for him from downstairs, "Flynn are you ready to go? They will be expecting us shortly", he rushed downstairs to meet his parents at the door "Yes I'm ready to go.".
In the car, Flynn was looking out the window watching the trees and houses go by. "I heard that Mr.Laurier has a daughter your age, maybe you guys could be friends. Hopefully, she'll be going to Hogwarts also. Just make sure to be nice, and no getting in trouble while we're at their house", Flynn rolled his eyes at his mother's statement, she was always getting onto him for getting into trouble while he was growing up. "Hey don't be so hard on him, he's still only a young boy, let him have some fun." Flynn's father always stood up for him when he felt his mother was getting on his case too much, he adored both of his parents but he wasn't a fan of them getting on his case.
Shortly after their conversation in the car they arrived. Flynn was looking around at the outside of the house, it was a nice house, a bit bigger than his. He was excited but also tired of going to these dinners. They all got out of the car and walked up to the door, after his father knocked on the door, a man opened it and shook his parent's hands then reached down to him "Hello, I'm Mr.Laurier, its nice to finally meet you Flynn", he shook the man's hand and looked up at him. "I have a daughter about your age, she'll be joining us shortly."
Flynn was looking around when he noticed a girl in the corner who Mr.Laurier had motioned for, he assumed it was his daughter that he was talking about. The girl approached Flynn and one of the first things he noticed was her pale green eyes. As the girl stood before him she introduced herself, it was his turn to introduce himself. "Hey, I'm Flynn. I like your dress., he wasn't sure how to go about making new friends as many people didn't like him after they found out he liked boys, so he didn't have many friends, maybe this was going to change, at least he hoped it would. He gave Valerie a soft smile and his eyes glistened in the lighting of their home, he was excited but nervous all at the same time.
