Lizzy walked down the stairs to the basement. When she had left the staircase, and started walking purposefully through the basement corridors, she realized she had never actually been down here before. It was dark, damp, and overall eerie. Her confident step faltered, but just for a moment. She really couldn't imagine why anyone would come down here, and yet here she was herself. Resuming a confident stride, she peered around a corner cautiously before continuing. One could never be too careful.

The whole reason she had come down to the basements was to explore. She hadn't had much of a chance to explore the castle, there was too much schoolwork to stay on top of. Lizzy had wanted to sneak through the castle since she had come though, it would make her feel more at home. Now, she had found the time to creep away from the dorms without being noticed and investigate.

Lizzy saw something move just then, out of the corner of her eye. She froze where she stood, barely trembling, but still doing it all the same. "Wh- Who's there?" she asked, her voice breaking. What was she doing? If she was going to continue to explore, she would have to toughen up before she was spooked away. She whirled around to see... a shadow. Her own shadow to be exact. She laughed uneasily, scared by her own shadow. It just went to show how easy it was to let your mind get the best of you. Lizzy turned back and continued on, venturing into the previously unknown corridors of the basement.

Elizabeth had explored several parts of the castle alone. The kitches, the library, even the abandoned toilets! And never during any of these escapades had she been afraid. She was the type to throw caution to the wind, or perhaps she just acted too fast for her rationality to kick in. So of course, when thinking of where she should check out next, the basement sounded like a delightful plan. Spooky and mysterious- just how she liked it!

The young girl had made her way down into the very belly of the school, a dark and damp place that smelled like only a basement can. That wet, earthy smell. Lizzy made her way through different twists and turns, registering them in her head. Left here, right, another right, wait did I go left back there? She was quickly becoming turned around, but she wasn't too afraid. Every part of the castle seemed to have people in it, someone would stumble into her eventually if she did get lost.

She turned a corner when she heard a distant voice, "Wh-Who's there?" The voice sounded fearful, and it instantly piqued Lizzy's interest. Someone else must be exploring down here!

She crept through the darkness, peeking around a corner and catching sight of a girl. She was walking cautiously through the corridor, looking around her like the boogeyman might jump out at any moment. Poor Liz just couldn't resist!

Elizabeth crept forward, silent on her feet, following the girl while also gaining on her. She was nearly right behind her when she reached forward and grabbed the girl's sides. "Boo!" She laughed at the startle it gave the other, stepping back quickly and putting her hands up in surrender. "Sorry sorry! I couldn't resist. You looked like you were gonna faint walking around by yourself." She teased the other playfully.

Lizzy felt someone grab her side and whirled around, startled. Maybe her irrational fear wasn't that irrational after all. This was Hogwarts where, Lizzy had found, you shouldn't be too quick to dissuade something as false. She had turned to see another girl in front of her. The girl was laughing, she was obviously the one who had pulled the prank.

She knew she had said this to herself too many times, but she found the need to say it yet again. I'm not a cowardly Gryffindor. The other girl's statement that Lizzy looked like she was about to faint walking around in the basements wasn't going over well with her. It seemed like people always caught her at the worst times. Lizzy really hoped that she wouldn't let her temper make her another enemy.

"I wasn't about to faint!" Lizzy said defensively. "I happened to be exploring the basements and got spooked. I mean, I can barely see five feet in front of my face. How am I supposed to know what's down there?" Lizzy indicated the flight of stairs the two girls were standing next to with a jerk of her chin. Hogwarts was full of odd and sometimes even dangerous objects, so Lizzy did have a perfectly good reason to have been nervous.

"What are you doing down here anyways, and who are you?" Lizzy asked, her curiosity getting the best of her. Lizzy had been careful for their whole conversation to avoid the topic of her interest of possibly pulling a prank on another student just in case she went to a professor with the knowledge. The basement was the perfect place to do one, with its dark, damp atmosphere. As much as Lizzy loved to explore simply for the fun of it, she didn't think she would be able to pass up an opportunity of a prank if it came up. Since this girl seemed so bent on pulling a prank as well, maybe they could try and do one together.

She could tell by the girl's close as she spun around, that she was a Gryffindor. It sparked joy that she had managed to make one of the courageous Gryffs jump like that. She made sure to stay a good distance back just in case the girl swung on her out of fear, but she seemed relatively mild-tempered as she relaxed.

The girl's excuses went on as she defended herself, clearly embarrassed and indignant. To be fair though, if someone snuck up on Elizabeth right now she would probably shriek. It was ridiculously dark and every sound, especially footsteps, echoed off the walls. This place was straight out of a nightmare, at least, for an 11-year-old it was. "You make a good point." She peered into the darkness, wondering just what could be down here. The potions classroom was on this floor sure, but they were deeper into the basement than that. Anything could be down here!

She focused her attention back on the girl when she was asked questions. "I'm Elizabeth Lovett." She stuck out her hand, just like her father had always taught her. A handshake always sealed a greeting with trust. "But you can call me Lizzy." She released the girl's hand and placed her hands on her hips. "Just exploring, I've been bored and I figured this would be the most interesting place. Also hoped to scare somebody maybe, which I did!" She laughed again, right back to teasing the poor Gryffindor. This was perhaps the biggest reason Lizzy didn't have many friends.

"But what about you huh? What's your name? And what are you doing down here?" She flipped all of the girl's questions right back onto her. "Especially alone, if you're this jumpy." The distant sound of footsteps could be heard down the corridor and she went quiet, peering around the corner.

"Looks like we aren't the only ones doing the exploring."

Lizzy threw one more quick glance to the darkness in front of them. A couple of her friends had warned her that the basements were not for the faint of heart, but she had ignored them. In fact, she had made a point out of walking down the stairs that led to the basements. The look of shock on their faces was pretty great, even if Lizzy was worried about what her friends had told her before.

She listened a bit impatiently as the girl told Lizzy her name. "Your name's Lizzy?" Lizzy asked, a slow grin spreading across her face. "My name is Lizzy, Lizzy Solace," she said, reaching out to shake the other Lizzy's hand. "I was exploring, same as you. I've seen most of the castle, but I haven't had the time to come down here yet. I was thinking of maybe pulling a prank if I found someone else, but it looks like you found me first!"

Lizzy sighed as the other Lizzy brought up her scare again. She opened her mouth to protest, she hadn't been that scared, but the sound of distant footsteps stopped her. Lizzy closed her mouth as the other Lizzy commented on the echoing steps. Her face broke out into a wide, slightly evil grin. "We know they're down here, but they don't know we are." This could turn out to be very interesting indeed.

Are we pranking a NPC or are we going to get somebody to join our RP that's willing to be pranked?
