Date: September 10, 2021 Action: Waiting for members to arriveIt was a pleasant afternoon at the lake. The fall weather hadn't quite settled in as the last dregs of summer clung onto the gorgeous landscape that surrounded them. Cade stood perched on a rather large bolder skipping stones out into the water as he waited for club members to arrive. Cade thought they had a good collection of people signing up for it. He was pleasantly surprised when collecting the fliers around the school. It seemed students still had an interest in the creatures that surrounded them, and he was glad of it. Cade enjoyed the last few meetings they had. Even if it was just getting to know the members that came. This time he had something special planned out. He'd been working on hiding his drawings around the grounds all week! He just hoped that everyone was bright enough to find them. Cade had confidence in his classmates though.
Cade would look up from his stone skipping when a group of students found their way over and would grin at them, happy that there was a decent turnout. For one moment he stood before them as they settled in and the commotion died out. He would clear his throat and gaze at the newcomers before explaining the day's activity. "Welcome old and new members! I've prepared a bit of a scavenger hunt for us around the lake. The first group to collect all three will get themselves a club brooch for their smarts." The Ravenclaw would smile in spite of himself. He was quite proud of the work he put in for this. Cade stooped over to collect papers from his bag. "There are three creatures you have to find. Don't worry they aren't real ones, just drawings I've made. When you find one there will be small tokens hidden amongst their habitat. You have to collect them all. And feel free to use any resources you have to identify them. Any questions? Right well, we'll need to make two groups since I only have two copies of clues."1. I resemble most closely a rat, but for the sea anemone on my back. You will find me on the coast, we’ll see who gets me the most

It was for the meeting of Mystical Creatures Club. Something... Cody wouldn't have access to unless he was a third year for Care of Magical Creatures.
Listening to what Cade was saying about the stuff hidden, he was glad that he brought his broom... the apparently bright part goblin decided to speak up. "I'll take team one, if anyone wants to be on my team!"
Maybe he was being a bit mean, a bit cruel, but did it really matter if people had vengeance against him? Cody did fuel that... and it was something he regret deeply.
There was only three friends he had on this cool September 10th. Juniper, Henry, and Ari... he was going to try to make more friends. Or maybe, more enemies. NO. IT'S TIME TO BE CALM AND TO NOT HATE OTHERS.
"Juniper... want to join me?" Cody asked, his eyes pleading. Hopefully Juniper cared enough about Cody to join him in Team 1.
"ALRIGHT NOW! EVERYONE! JOIN ME IN TEAM ONE if you'd like, OR JOIN TEAM TWO."

Simon looked up to the sun above and pulled up the hood of his sweatshirt to shield him some from the rays. He was very interested in learning as much as he could about magical creatures and also liked joining clubs so he could meet new people, but why did they always have to hold their activities outdoors? He made his way across the Grounds of the school and toward the Great Lake, getting there just in time to hear a fellow Second Year talk about their task for the day.
"Hey, sorry if I'm a little late," he said to all and listened up as a shorter Hufflepuff snatched up one of the teams. He had a lot of enthusiasm but it seemed he already was trying to get another on his team so Simon decided he'd go for the other. "I'll go with Team 2. Everyone always seems to lean towards Team 1 and you know, fate favors the underdogs."
Hopefully more would come and he wouldn't be on a team by himself but even if that were the case, the Hufflepuff was looking forward to the activity that the other boy had created. It was nice to get out of the castle walls and do something different for a change.

It was warm on the Hogwarts grounds, but the lake provided a cooling breeze as Cade explained the activity of the first club meeting of the year. They would be doing a scavenger hunt concerning different magical creatures.
Della was disappointed that they probably weren't going to run into real creatures on the scavenger hunt. But she didn't let Cade see her disappointment, after all, he had put in the work for this scavenger hunt, and Della's next favorite thing beyond animals was solving mysteries.
When Cade announced that there would be two teams, she started to panic a little bit. What if no one wanted to be on her team? And she was left all alone? And she had to leave the club forever?
Instantly a boisterous first-year called to be on team one. Della didn't want to go with him.
Another student said he join team two. Della recognized the voice from under the hoodie, it was Simon. Her new library buddy. Great, she wouldn't get left behind after all.
Della tried her best to speak up in front of other club members, "I'll join team two, too!" In a lower voice, she said, "Hi, Simon!" She sidled up next to him and gave him a tiny wave.

"Hi, Della!" he perked up, happy to see her. She said she'd join team two too and that made him smile wider. "If you'd like to join team TWO, TOO, then just walk over TO here," and he paused, instantly regretting the dorkiness in his words. "I mean, hey, hey there. What's up? How've you been?" Yes, that was Simon Kincaid trying to play it off cool.
Most likely it failed. Still, he flashed his friend a smile. "You know, Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders." He felt that she had made the right choice as to what team she wished to be on, but then again, the other team had Cody and he too was a Hufflepuff. He was glad though that currently, the teams seemed to be laid out pretty evenly.
"We need a cool team name." What could that be for a scavenger hunt. Simon thought for a moment. "What do you think? Under Cover Kids? Shadow Dwellers? Straight Outta Hogwarts?" Maybe she'd have a better name than the ones he had come up with, but the girl couldn't fault him too much - it wasn't as if they had time to think about this before hand. Simon liked the idea of a scavenger hunt, and perhaps he'd even get to hear about a new magical creature that he had yet to research. He loved learning anything and everything about the wizarding world which he was now a part of.
