'Ouch!' she thought to herself, taking in a quick gasp of air as she did, the surprise, and pain, of feeling two spells hit her, when she had only seen one incoming, caught her off-guard. Scarlet had faired pretty well so far, and been quite lucky she thought, with the one spell up to this point meant for her, backfiring on it's caster, but her luck well and truly ran out during this round.

She watched as the dark haired girl that had just moved between the teams, aimed her wand at her, and sent a well timed knockback jinx at her, it hitting her on the waist. She barely had any time to react though as she felt another spell hit her on the shoulder, looking to face it's source, she smiled when she saw it had come from none other than Henry. Rather than say anything she aimed her wand back at him in response, "Verdimillious!" she said, and a jet of green sparks went flying towards her friend, it looked as though she wasn't completely out of luck considering that the charm hit him.

"Not too bad," she said in response to her friend's question, rubbing the spot on her shoulder where his spell had hit, "it was a good shot... wasn't expecting it either," she said whilst smiling, indicating that she was okay. Although she had got him back almost immediately with her Flipendo, his had been part of a double attack, so she felt he could do with receiving another shot, just to make things even, but she wasn't feeling too great after that round.

What she heard next, or at least who she heard it coming from, took her by surprise; Liana, personal enemy number one checked in to ask if she was okay. "Yeah I'm okay," she replied, "thanks," she added, wondering if it was just pity that made the girl ask the question. She wondered if whatever it was that had made the girl ask would last through till the next round, now they were on separate teams she could imagine being the top of the girl's hit list.

"I don't like the sound of that apology," she said to Henry, worrying that she might still be a target to him, "well, I don't think I'll be the one switching teams to make that happen," she said as she crossed over to where the other team was.

See, River thought that since she was on the verdimillious-team, she wouldn’t have to worry about being targeted or hit by an attack of green sparks like her last loss. But noooo. The redhead was focused on aiming her spell at an opposing student, which she evidently missed, before wincing as she suddenly lost her vision to a green flash out of nowhere. She’d have no clue who’d cast the spell, cause she couldn’t really see very well, but she knew once she heard a voice apologizing for the accident.

River tried hard to keep her calm. It wasn’t like Liana had meant to hit her. Still she slightly struggled to keep her tone friendly and forgiving through the pain her eyes had endured. “Nono don’t worry, I’m, ugh… I’m absolutely fine!“ she responded in Liana’s general direction as she rubbed her eyes.

Now was no time to dwell on loss of sight and confusion. It was time to once again prepare for whatever the next move would be. She was not happy to realize that now people would, once again, be targeting her with the green-sparks charm. Not a fun time. Perhaps she’d be better off somewhere else after all, this game was for sure not going her way. But there was no backing out now, she had to get to the end of this. She was stubborn enough for that.

This is what happened when you go soft on your 'enemy'. One of their team members had asked Cash to hit Liana but Cash did not have the heart to hurt the first year. Not only she is still new to this whole S.W.A.G matter, Liana is also their dorm mate. Maybe it is what makes their Knockback Jinx weaker than the previous one.

Strike hard, strike fast, no mercy, or did you forget what I taught you? A voice like Cash's father's resonated in the back of their mind. Two years since their father had passed but still, Cash could not shake out the harsh life lesson that he instilled from Cash's tender age. While Cash spell missed their intended target, the green eyes let out a winced when a green spark hit Henry.

Forcing Henry to switch back to the opposite team but what Henry felt did not compare to what Scarlet felt. Getting double Flipendo to her shoulder and waist must be hurt, a lot. Who said joining S.W.A.G club will be all sunshine and rainbow? S.W.A.G can be brutal from time to time but that is the beauty of the club.

The Beater waited for Scarlet to switch sides. Once Starlet stood amongst the Flipendo team, Cash would avert their eyes from the opposing team to their teammates. "You okay there, lass?"The Cuban descendant asked the other girl. Scarlet is also one of Cash's dorm mates but they have never interacted before until this moment.

"That hit quite brutal if I may say"They continue. "Take a deep breath. It will end soon-ish"Cash tries to assure Scarlet but the young Ironwoods know it was weak and not so assuring at all.

Flash was hardly awake, even though he was trying his best. He had explained to Alan what was going on with him, to a degree, and that he didn't want his life to change too drastically. For SWAG, watching and making sure no one stepped out of line would be much easier than participating. He would just be making sure no one cheated, such as using the wrong spells for their team, or if someone decided to use physical force. He would have his hand settled on the spot his wand was hidden, but the truth was he could barely pay attention.

Alan had taken the lead anyway, much to Flash's relief. The game was one that had an intersting aspect-- deciding who to attack based on who you want to 'switch'. As the game progressed, there were a few team switches here and there, but overall everyone seemed to be having trouble hitting their mark. It wasn't surprising, the difference between practicing in class and flinging spells on the fly was huge, so the fact that SWAG darling Xailah was the only one to hit her mark this round didn't seem out of place. Flash would clap as Aurora had to move from one team to the other, making the bare minimum effort to appear cognisant of his surroundings.

Spells continued to be exchanged; as expected; with team Flipendo having the brief upper hand for the round. River sent a spell spiraling towards Xailah; at which the Gryffindor slipped out of the way. There was another spell, a stray it seemed, that came close to hitting. Luckily, it didn't. The metamorph returned the rouge attack; slinging a flare of green in the direction that the Flipendo had come from. Her spell would meet her victim of choice. Which technically meant she had hit players two rounds in a row! What luck. When it was time to switch, only one person would be brought onto the team. But one was enough. As long as the other team was unable to obtain more teammates, Xailah was content.

It was less of a matter of picking those for their skill, by this point in the game. With the teams tipped, this time with Verdimillious concluding the round with the most folk, the game of strategy became a game of collection- which team could collect the most people? Or perhaps it had always been a collecting game. Yes, that must have been it. The numbers were all that mattered in the end; this wasn't a last man standing, sort of ordeal- in this game, if you were the last man, you lost. Xailah twirled her wand, the black spear of wood danced from finger to finger, in vacant consideration. She was getting comfortable with her casting. Not a good sign. She noted the feeling, vaguely, taking caution to not fully immerse herself in its pleasant buzz. Comfort was a distraction. Distraction, was loss- an unacceptable feat, if winning was the goal. And here, winning was the only goal. Xailah carefully eyed the remaining opponents. All were fairly slippery; and even better shots. It made picking a target all the more challenging.

Her spell sailed right past its designated target, i.e. Scarlet. Liana clicked her tongue in dissatisfaction. How many times could she miss? Well, at least the other girl's spell failed to even emerge from the wand; the redhead was sure it would have been aimed at her. A lot of other players failed to hit their mark, too, by the looks of it - there was a flurry of sparks and blue jets, but only one spell managed to come into contact with a person. Xailah seemed determined to carry the team, bringing Aurora over with a well-aimed Verdimillious. The first-year aspired to one day develop such a precise aim, too.

''I'll try until I succeed,'' she assured Henry. This was not even her worst performance yet. At least she hadn't missed the same target four times, like she had in Wargames. Yes, her aim definitely needed a good amount of practice. She should probably spend more time in the duelling club, hurtling jinxes at dummies. And perhaps even actual opponents, if she could convince someone to join her. For some reason, most of her peers seemed unwilling to do a one-on-one magical combat with her, despite all the ridiculous blunders she made in competitive setups.

The girl took Henry's advice and performed a small breathing exercise to try and focus, shutting down any unpleasant thoughts and feelings about her spellcasting failures. She could still fix the situation if she just stopped missing.

And they were back to four. For the last three rounds, Cash had it easy. Well, as easy as a non-dueling person. When one of their teammates suggested that Cash attacked Henry with a Knockback Jinx, the green eyes knew it will need the luck to hit the boy. Knockback Jinx is an all-time favorite spell for Duelers.

Henry could send it a mile away if someone has an out for him using the red spark spell. And so when Cash failed to deliver the hurt to Henry, the blue-eyed boy mocked the green eyes playfully. He said that he was too fast for the Beater. "You are a duelist, mate. You got the upper-hand here"They replied to Henry.

"Give me a broom and you know I could knock you out from it easily"Cash continued as playful banter and smirk appeared on their lips. The Cuban descendant then looked around. The others also failed to sling their spell except for Xailah. Her accuracy is something that Cash long for. Xailah slings her spell without even trying.

Cash's green eyes follow the green spark that emitted from the fifth year. And when her green spark hit Aurora, Cash knew that Aurora will switch teams. "How could you leave us, Rory?"They said in faux sadness. The young Ironwoods averted their eyes from Aurora to their teammates.

With Pericles gone and with every personnel getting switched here and there, one team will always have that disadvantage of one shortage of members in their team. Cash let out a sigh and wrecked their head. They need to find a way so the team even out again or better yet, their team wins the game entirely.

Whatever it takes, Cash thought to themselves. Cash craned their neck to left and right. Then the young socialite shakes their arms and shoulders to loosen up the tense muscles. Who said S.W.A.G was not an intense game, they are a liar. After they felt their body relax a bit, Cash put a Dueling stance again. They pointed out their wand to their target. Hoping this time their aim is true.

Okay, that had been a solid try. Not nearly good enough, but a solid try. The spell didn't blow up in her face and she got the movement right. Autumn couldn't have expected the way the fifth year would dodge, but that didn't matter. She'd landed one hit, and she'd thought that she would be fine for the game, but she supposed that had been deadly wrong.

It was just a game, but clearly that wasn't enough to shut up Autumn's inner critic. At least she hadn't gotten hit. She could get used to being part of a single team for a little while. That was nice. She was pretty sure that the fifth year she had been aiming at had been trying to hit her, but the spell missed by enough that she couldn't be sure. Autumn sighed, her sigh then turning into a gape when she realised that the spell had practically split and almost hit Cassandra.

She'd heard of the ability, and seen it too, but it was still pretty cool to see in action. No matter how cool, though, Autumn couldn't help but be grateful for the girl failing to hit her and her teammate.

She was still in the game, and that mattered most if all. She wouldn't fail again.

Scarlet had hoped that despite feeling a little rough, she would be able to be somewhat accurate with her casting. She didn't however, even have the chance to judge any such accuracy, considering she couldn't even get the spell to leave her wand.

Scarlet allowed her right hand grasping her wand, to fall by her side, that was embarrassing, but who knows maybe no-one noticed her failure, they could have just thought she had opted to take a round off to try and rest up. Unlikely given that she had said aloud the incantation only moments before.

She was at least partly relieved to see that not many others had had much luck in regards to their own spells, whilst they had at least managed to produce them, very few hit their intended target. The comfort this provided only went so far, the best scenario would have course been if all the other members of her team had hit their targets.

By the end of that round, only one team switch was required, and unfortunately it wasn't for anyone coming to her team. "You bet it will be, I hope you're watching," she joked back to her friend.

One slip up, that's all the last round was, not something that had to be repeated. She needed to focus now. Their side was only losing by one person as of the last round, an edge they could easily win back, and she was sure they would have after the next round.
