It had been quite a while since Krez had looked at anything but her shoes. She didn't want to be here, and she knew that the nurses in attendance probably remembered her from the last couple of times she had come in. Neither of those times really gave them a good impression of her, but at least it didn't keep them from doing their job.

Kreszentia, despite efforts to not be the hot-headed gremlin she knew she was, had gotten into another fight recently. This time with a much bigger student, without the element of surprise on her side. Normally she didn't throw the first punch if it was just verbal aggression aimed her way, but she had had a particularly bad couple of days, and the things the Ravenclaw boy had said just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back. With how hard assignments had been for her, on top of an upset letter from her favorite and only uncle, plus a plethora of other internal and personal issues boiling in her mind, Krez lashed out much more intensely than she had intended.
A few bites, a kick here, a punch there, and of course she landed herself in the hospital wing with pain on her skin and blood in her mouth. Surprisingly for her, this time Krez had been the one with more damage sustained, so her opponent ended up getting to leave much sooner than she did.

Now she sat on a cot, hunched over, holding an ice pack to her bruised eye as she glared down at her shoes. Her body shook ever so subtly, as a kick to the stomach had left her out of breath for a while and she had ended up throwing up just a bit in addition to that. Sore and weak, there was no choice for her other than waiting to be given permission to leave. The nurse let her know before leaving her alone that her parents would hear about this, so rather than spending her recovery time feeling better, she just felt far more queasy.
She should have known things were going to end up this way...

The doors suddenly were thrust open, leaving an echoing boom in its wake. Lilac stood in the doorway, wide-eyed and fish-mouthed at the commotion he just set off. As the rattling noise continued, Lilac had squeezed his eyes shut as if the ceiling was about to collapse onto him. When it didn't, his pale blue orbs slightly cracked open. Immediately, they fixed themselves on a rather small, beaten up figure.

Lilac batted his eyelashes twice, the same awestruck look on his face when he saw the vertically challenged boy on the bed.
At least, he thought it was a boy.

When he caught himself staring at the many gashes and wounds, Lilac gulped and looked away–now a bit flustered. His face bubbled with a light shade of pink which hinted at his embarrassment. He hadn't uttered a word, and already was practically gasping for air.

The charcoal haired boy still averted eye contact. He slid his hand and rubbed the back of his now sweaty neck, not knowing what to say in the slightest.
Alarms were going off in his head. What to do, what to say, come on man, you literally almost broke the door and startled him!

"Sorry about that... the door was more flimsy than I thought," he mumbled softly yet politely. Lilac then took the following silence as a grant to lift his head and make eye contact. He smiled at the smaller boy and bobbled his way to an empty bed. Lilac made himself comfortable and sat down slowly, lifting his injured leg so that it wouldn't be too stressed.

Expectantly, Lilac casted a wary glance at the tiny one. He was intimidated. Gashes that deep were the result of a heart-filled battle. Lilac almost found himself admiring that, since his injury was caused by wandering into a stray game of tag on accident.

At an attempt at small talk, Lilac gulped and put his friendly face on. His feminine face then took on a soft look.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to you? Are you okay?"

A sudden bursting entrance into the infirmary could do nothing else but catch Krez's attention. She had to turn her head completely to get a good look at the new arrival, due to her bad eye being closest to the door. Still not in the best of moods from today's events, she could only glower at the student with the bottled up intensity that filled her tiny frame.
They were...cute, she guessed? Definitely frail looking. It was not surprising to see them here. Them? Her? Yeah, looked like a her. She wasn't shocked in the slightest to see a delicate little lass with an injury. These kids, these students, they were wild. Krez figured that out for herself a long time ago. The only thing that did surprise her was the fact that it was just the two of them in here. For now.

The Hufflepuff, because of course she was a Hufflepuff, immediately became timid in Krez's presence. In response rather than going about their business, small talk was her answer. Kreszentia only watched them in silence at first, up until she found a cot of her own to sit on and take pressure off of her injured leg. What had happened, she wondered? Surely someone this...lovely, wouldn't get into many fights, right? Better to not assume...

To the questions, she put her head back down. Tile was better than eye contact, as she didn't want to end up accidentally scaring the other student more than necessary. She closed her eyes with a small sigh before speaking. "Fight." She started, not bothering to mask the dryness in her throat or the roughness in her accent this time. Defeat edged in her tone, but didn't overpower the audible bitterness she felt from losing. "I am fine."

It was just as Lilac had suspected. A fight! The fragile boy felt his knees squeeze together in anticipation. Cloth rubbed against cloth as he gripped the sheets with smooth, pink nails. A bumbling excitement raced into his heart, a fight.

The sand haired boy in front of him, although short, was definitely admirable–in every way possible. His minimized stature, the battle scars, the cool, raspy voice... all of it sent a shudder down Lilac's spine, making his eyes sparkle in admiration. He even bit his lip and almost hopped in the squishy cot with excitement when he saw the colors of the other student's tie.

"A fight!" Lilac echoed, practically sitting on the edge of the bed already. He'd never been in a fight before, so they all just seemed like a fantasy.

Questions bombarded his mind, all hitting the pink, fleshy brain of his like bullets. They stabbed at his heart, sympathy yet a tingling admiration fluttered through his veins.
He needed to ask so much more, but perhaps that was rude.
So, he decided to voice his other thoughts as a method to pave the way for his next questions.

"That's so cool!" Lilac whispered, drilling holes into the male who had his chin tucked into his neck. He wrapped his slender digits on the sheets as an attempt to shake the tingly feeling. The charcoal haired boy found himself staring more than what was usually welcome, since Lilac was, of course, himself. A curious, shy, introverted little boy who knew what he wanted–and could somehow muster up the audacity to get what he wanted in certain situations.
"Was is fun? Did you win? Even if you didn't, you're still really... amazing! I mean, I don't really know anyone who'd risk wounds like these for a fight!" Lilac praised fully, almost thrusting himself up to inspect the wounds closer.

Instead, the taller was practically floating over the edge of the cot.

"I think fights are so cool! You must've done it for a good reason, right? Right? No hero would fight for the wrong reasons!" He clamored on, his breath hitching and catching in his throats for random reasons. His bruised arms lay out in the open, and an ugly, yellow, bubbly thing was growing on his radius–this boy was knocked up, sure, but not as beaten up as the tan one on the other bed.

"U-Um, I'm not assuming you're a hero since you have the... Gryffindor thingy on your thing–it's just you have this... aura?" Lilac smiled shyly and shifted his weight to the healthy leg in attempt to swat away the nervousness. "I'm not bragging, but I usually can tell a good person when I see one!"

In a swift motion, Lilac suddenly grabbed the pillow sitting near the head of the bed. The calloused metal vibrated as the weight was shifted from one place to another.
The blue-eyed child then sat half cross-legged ( the injured ankle still remained on the floor ) and hugged the fluffy bed piece close. Lilac smothered his cheek into it, still remaining a slightly cute head tilt eye contact with the boy.

"If you don't mind... can you please tell me your story?"

The excitement wasn't quite what she had expected to get from admitting to a fight and as the other patient began chirping excitedly and squirming in place, Krez lifted her head enough to watch. She could see the visible cues of joy coming from the other girl, and could almost taste the thrill the thought of a scuffle apparently gave her. Most people around here thought themselves too good for a roughhouse every once and a while, so some part of Krez thought it kind of nice that someone else felt at least kind of the same way as her. Not that she enjoyed fighting, but sometimes it was just a necessary evil in her opinion.
She felt warmth in her cheeks as the delicate Hufflepuff praised her without any context as to why she even fought in the first place. She caught a couple of questions here and there but wasn't fast enough to answer before the thrill-seeking child in front of her rambled on. She was starting to get a little overwhelmed at this point but had no real way of asking her to slow down. So she settled to just let her get it out of her system.

She caught a few more things that made her face flush more than before. 'Hero' being one of the things that flustered her the most. She never considered herself a hero of any sort. She had yet to be praised for her volatile habits, so being seen in a light like that definitely surprised her a good bit. This girl didn't even know her name, and she was already certain that Krez could apparently do no wrong. It felt really, really weird to her.
As she listened on, the mention of her being a Gryffindor as well as a good person was enough to make her go fully red-faced. Her grip tightened on her ice-pack as she moved it more over her entire face than just her eye, and she used her free hand to hurriedly close the open space at the top of her coat. She had forgotten that the nurses unbuttoned it to make sure she was alright on her torso, so buttoning it back up completely slipped her mind until the girl pointed out her 'thingy', as it were.

By the end of the positive tirade on her own character from the other student, Krez was looking back to the tiled flooring in an attempt to mask her embarrassment. She probably just looked frustrated more than anything, but she couldn't help the fact that she always looked angry.
She hadn't said a word, and it would be a good minute before she would. What did she mean by her story? What story did she want? Her life story? How had she gotten into a fight? Why she was here? This wasn't the standard small talk she had come to know the answers to. Krez. Gryffindor. First Year. That was all she was used to saying by now. She didn't know how to answer this nor did she really want to. But it was just her and...energetic Hufflepuff.

Krez took another deep breath, throat still sore and body still trembling, before she decided to look back up to her. She pulled her scarf down just the slighted bit, giving her mouth some space so she could be heard better.
"...Vhat is your name?"

He kept thrusting his words upon the stranger, not even knowing their background or name. The sayings, the sounds, every single letter uttered from his very lips just seemed to flow out so naturally. Lilac kept on praising this boy, not even noticing the reddening of cheeks or the hiding of expressions.

When he finally noticed the fidgeting behavior, Lilac immediately held his breath and began to utter more... sensible questions. It continued on with silence, and eventually everything lead into that one question.
That one question.

He listened to the gravel-like voice with pursed lips and piqued interest. Every syllable, every corner of his accent, every little sound to the last detail he listened. Lilac then heard the question loud and clear, suddenly over-flooding with unadulterated happiness.

"Oh, thank goodness! I thought I'd made you uncomfortable!" He bellowed before trying to hoist himself up from the bed. Suddenly, the child remembered his injuries and winced as the stabbing pain suddenly pierced through his Achille's heel. Lilac bit down on his jaw and readjusted himself, standing up more slowly now to hobble over to Krez's cot.

The boy let himself be invited to bed as he sat down next to his new friend. Lilac smiled as he got comfortable and held out his hand.

"The name's Lilac!" He sent a toothy grin to Krez's vision and then looked to the ceiling. He then felt a smile tingle across his lips.
"Wanna be friends? Do you wanna play? Can you teach me how to fight?"
