A Clockwork Countenance
It had been a hectic first week indeed. Though each class had only really gone over their various ground rules, and barely touched upon the subjects themselves, Eliphas Dune could not help but feel terribly in over his head. There was an ache stuck within the core of his stomach at most any given hour, the homesickness bug having bit him relatively soon after leaving King's Cross Station, and the vast majesty of the castle itself left him feeling awkward and alone, even among so many other students.
He had come to rely upon the safety and comforts found within the Ravenclaw Common Room, where a warm fire blazed at seemingly all hours, and a blanket was never far from reach. But even he knew that staying cooped up for too long would only do him harm in the long run. He couldn't block it all out, and pretend none of this was happening. Where was his adventurous spirit? There was an entire castle - an intact, magical castle! - to explore, for Pete's sake, and what had he done about that? Wallow.
Today was their first full day without classes, the first Saturday of term, and so Eliphas had donned some casual wear - jeans, tshirt, with a wooly jumper pulled over top for good measure - and then out into the grounds he wandered. He'd already seen a decent amount of the castle in his daily walks to class, now was the time to get outside and breathe in the Scottish air!
His feet hit the pavers and they didn't stop moving for quite some time. He wasn't even sure where it was he was headed, he had left the map he'd been gifted by a third year student behind in his dormitory. Today wasn't about being rigid, or afraid, today was about getting out there, and finding himself again. Whatever that meant.
Soon enough he was forced to assess his surroundings, as the sound of a clock chiming loudly overhead drew him from his thoughts. Somehow he'd made it all the way to the Clocktower, he stood now within its base, and glancing upward through the wide stairwell which circled around the main chamber he could see cogs whirring high above. It was mesmerizing, really.
Straightening his view once more, he spotted a doorway beyond which a long covered bridge could be seen. Now he found himself torn, did he climb the stairs to see what lay above, and enjoy the view it no doubt afforded him, or did he head out onto the bridge and see what lay below?
Truly, Eliphas could not decide.@Pea Elena Fowl

A Clockwork Countenance
It was her first week at Hogwarts. There's not much she can say about it other than ..blah. It was blah. She enjoyed the occasional introduction of magic, but other than that, nothing much has happened. Although exploring Hogwarts has been quite neat. After spending some time inside her dorm, she does get sort of stuffy.
So she decided to grab her sketchbook and her graphite. Walking around Hogwarts and maybe exploring new places is a good idea to catch a little air. She can admit there are some beautiful places here, even though she was constantly judging this ghastly place.
It might be a surprise that Pea always likes to draw, she might not seem like it but she was pretty well talented at it. As someone who is obsessed with beauty, she guessed it make sense to see beauty in things that others couldn't see.
But sometimes sketching also reminded her of her aunt, she's a fashion designer. So growing up, Pea was surrounded by bold colored fabrics and patterns all around the house. Pea really love peering at those and added some of her flares on them when she was younger, Margaret, her aunt, used to be really mad about it. Pea smiled at the thought. In spite of that, Pea's artistic style is very different from her aunt. While Margaret loves to use bold colors, and eccentric patterns, Pea loves a more muted palette and dark muses to fill her parchments. Thinking about her aunt made her miss her dearly. But she doesn't need any of that.. emotions. She does not need to feel sad or longing, longing for someone makes her weak. She doesn't need anyone. She can survive this all on her own.
Today is a Saturday, so she doesn't have to wear those ugly uniforms walking around. Today, she was wearing pretty comfortable clothing, but still very stylish indeed. She was wearing a brown blouse that are unbuttoned at the top, and a pair of flared denim. She also wear a bandana around her white hair to keep some of her hair intact when she was drawing.
She does feel utterly gorgeous today. It's always the same thing whether she was back at home or here, people still love to stare at her even when she's walking around Hogwarts casually. And she still enjoys it, but now she needs someplace a little quieter to draw. She continues exploring new possible places she can draw and find creative ideas on.
And finally, she found it. The Clocktower. It was magnificent, the perfect muse for her sketchbook. But her view was distracted. Ugh. There is someone here. She recognizes him. A scrawny boy from her Defence Against the Dark Art class. When she finally found the perfect place it was ruined! She needs to get rid of him.
"Hey, you, scrawny," Pea said with a little snarl. Just a little. "Would you mind getting out of here? you're blocking my view."

He had not been considering his options for more than a few moments before an unfamiliar voice snarled his way. Caught off guard, having believed himself to be well and truly alone so far from the main castle, Eliphas jumped in fright and hastily span around to meet whoever it was.
A girl, striking white hair, and pale features, was staring at him with a look of pure distain. Unable to stop himself he swiftly assessed her, naturally picking up on her swirling emotions and the way in which she held herself. Almost noble in appearance... She had with her a sketchbook, and thus her demand that he move began to make some sense. Even so it was quite the unfair demand.
Eliphas shook his head, a brief flash of defiance overcoming the usually placid individual. He had never been one to cause a ruckus.
"You are much taller than I am," he stated rather bluntly, straining his neck somewhat comically to look up at her and prove his point. He was only a measly 4'2, she had a great many inches on him. "How much of your view can I possibly block?"
Even so the thought of bickering with another student filled him with concern. Her height made her seem as though she could very easily have been an older student, and older students knew spells! Eliphas did not know any spells yet. What if she wanted to duel? A thousand ideas ran through his head at once. Was it seen as bad practice to throw fists during a wizarding duel? Probably...
But once his mind cleared of such frantic haze, he realized that he recognized her... She was from one of his classes. That made her a First Year! She knew as little as he did then... That was fortunate.
"Look, I was clearly here first... Can't we share the space? I just wanted to explore the tower..." For some reason, now that she had come and tried to shoo him off he felt all the more drawn to the Clocktower itself, the bridge was no longer an option. Maybe it was because she'd been so insistent. Maybe that made the Clocktower all the more alluring. Perhaps she knew something about it he didn't. Something magical, perhaps?
Eliphas wasn't usually one to dig in his heels, but honestly trying to force him to move on was pretty rude of her!@Pea Elena Fowl

The boy standing in front of her is, to put simply, plain. There's nothing interesting about his face or any other part of his body. Also, he is short, well, there's a quite distinct height difference between Pea and him. Which compared to him she looks like she's several years older. But in truth, they are actually in the same year. She was a little amused when she caught the boy shocked when hearing her voice. That's good then, she hopes she can spook him enough to make him go away from her newly found muse. Let's hope this boy is cowardly enough that with just a few words from her, he would just scurry back to whatever house he is in.
But she thought wrong. Apparently, he is putting up a fight after all. "You are much taller than I am, how much of your view can I possibly block?" Well, at least he actually acknowledges their height differences.
"You are right, I'm MUCH taller than you." She emphasize the word 'much' just to further belittle him and smirked while she gaze at him lazily. "But just you being here actually disturbed my whole -" She paused and makes a gesture her hand into a round movement. "vibe." She continued. "Oh- I don't know, there's something about your face that's bumming me out."
She sighed, so he only wanted to explore the tower. Did she being a little too harsh? there's sudden guilt that suddenly creeps under her skin, she does get too into the mood sometimes, she can't really help it. "Alright fine. You can explore the tower," She breathed, yes the guilt did win her. "-But I'm coming with you." You know, to think of it, she is also curious about what's inside the tower. And it's been a while since she makes fun of people, it does make her feel a little alive inside. For a magic school, Hogwarts has been a tad boring this past week. She hopes that she can make fun of him a little more while they're exploring the tower. And maybe she also finds some interesting designs inside as well.
"Deal?" She couldn't care less if the boy refuses her, she will go in anyway.

Oh... She was that kind of girl.
Eliphas had done well so far to avoid such drama in his life, both before coming to Hogwarts and the past week since. His Primary School had a few of them, mean girls some called them, the prissy popular type who thought they owned the room and the very air within it. Thankfully he'd had a good and solid friendship group, and so he'd never had to interact with them outside of group work. Even then, he was smart enough to hold his own.
He let out a disgruntled sigh, and shook his head rather simply. "If it's bothering you so much, why don't you try not looking at it?" he asked, though the shock on his expression as the words tumbled free of his mouth suggested that he hadn't meant to let such sass through. Whoops. Usually he rose above such, but he was feeling a little sensitive in general at present. It was difficult to be away from home, and this mini adventure was supposed to be taking his mind off it all.
Instead she was just making it worse.
His expression soured some when she stated that she would be joining him as he explored the tower. "I thought you wanted to be rid of me," he said, brows furrowing in confusion. Was she toying with him? Purposely trying to frustrate him?
Everyone he had met so far had been kind, accommodating, helpful. It seemed even Hogwarts had those more prickly types, and he was honestly surprised such an encounter hadn't happened sooner. Perhaps settling in had been an overwhelming experience for most everyone, and now that they had their first day off true colours were beginning to shine.
Or maybe this was simply how this particular girl always was.
Either way, he simply turned from her and hastily headed towards the stairs without giving her a further response. He'd come here to be alone, and he intended to carry on that way...@Pea Elena Fowl

This boy got some spine after all. She likes it. Usually, most people don't have the courage enough to oppose her. Well, not most of them but the majority was. He rushed in ahead of her and already started climbing up the stairs. From the look of it, he obviously finds her presence really annoying. She had fun at the thought. She really likes seeing people get exasperated by her, it was amusing. Most people were sometimes terrified of her or intimidated by her, and those people were really no fun. But when she managed to get under someone's skin or their head that is when it's the most thrilling.
"Well, I am curious about what is inside too, and also maybe being around me can enhance your look a little." She merrily paced closer to him, and patted his back roughly, "But I really doubt it helps." Then started going ahead of him some more.
She can tell that the boy rarely meets someone like her. He looks hmm.. nice? boring, but nice, well-mannered, basically an all-rounder pleasant guy. She got that vibe from him. And sometimes she thought whether she could be like him, nice, and agreeable, maybe quiet too, whether if she could turn into the perfect mold then maybe her parents would want her again. No that's a ridiculous thought, her parent abandoned her well when she was a baby. They abandoned her because she doesn't have the purest blood, her blood was tainted by that is a Veela. And she doesn't even want to meet them again! she loathes them. She never even met her own mother ever since she gave her away to her aunt. She hates even just thinking about this. Why would such random thoughts invade her mind all of the sudden? That never happened to her before. And just like that, the joy disappeared, when it was then a smirk now it's just her usual bored face. Okay, she needs to make fun of him again, that will take her mind off of.. whatever this is.
"Come on shorty, you know that from up here you look even smaller than you already are." She says while looking down at him. Okay, now, give her a sassy retorts, mean comments, anything to get her minds off her parents.

Up and up and up the winding staircase they went, as what hadn't seemed like too tall a tower became endless all at once. Perhaps it was the company he was presently keeping which caused it to feel that way, as even when he was trying to get out of her presence there she was. Following behind him.
Even then she didn't stop her incessant prattling.
"How can being around someone change the appearance of another?" he asked rather incredulously, finding that whole train of thought utterly ridiculous. More to the point, why was he even giving her the satisfaction of responding at all? Maybe he should just ignore her. Do as he had come here to do, and ignore her presence entirely.
He couldn't fully ignore her though could he? Even now the hairs on the back of his neck were prickling with her presence. She'd be like an itch at the back of his mind until she left. Great.
Still up they went. Their boots clapped against the stone steps, and his eyes drifted to the occasional window which was built into the tower. Outside the view of the lake was extraordinary!
Shame he couldn't enjoy it in peace.
By this point she had gone ahead of him, and now she was even ruining his view. He grumbled a little to that, and contemplated turning around and leaving. Still, he was here first. This was supposed to be his adventure. He couldn't let her win.
"Not everyone here's a giraffe, you know?" he snapped back, as they finally neared the floor they were looking for. That which held the clocktower, and a nice view over the castle grounds themselves. He had to bite his tongue to avoid saying something actually mean, that wasn't who he was and he would not stoop to her level.
He was better than that. Right?
Then why was it so difficult?@Pea Elena Fowl

"I didn't say just anyone can do that, but if anyone has that ability it probably be me, don't you think?" She mutters with the utmost confidence and flicks her white gleamed hair with exaggeration. She continued walking the stairs, up and up the winding clock tower. After a while, she does get sick it, the cobbled stone and these ghastly steps, and the constant bickering with the boy also did get stale.
Being in her dorm almost constantly did not prepare her for the cardio she is facing right now, isn't it? she probably needs to get out more often. But even slightly thinking about exercising already exhausts her. She still has that lingerie dark thoughts about her family on her mind, but maybe the view up there will get her mind out of it.
A giraffe? Pea's cackled by the funny retorts the young boy suddenly uttered at her. "You are hilarious you know that?" she says, It does manage to distract her mind from the soreness.
So then after more and more of these horrible stairs they passed, they arrived at the top of the dank clock tower. She awed, and forgot what she was suffering about a moment ago, also the annoying presence of the boy. The view on top of the clock tower is breathtaking. She saw Hogwarts like she has never seen before. The lake, the castle, the trees, and the forest. Also, the air is very refreshing, very different from the Slytherin common room dungeon where it smelled slightly thick and humid even though she loved spending time there.
She would really love to sketch this view, but then again the presence of the boy is a distraction of her supposedly peaceful and meditating time. She sighed, if she is going to have a peaceful time, she need to make some kind of truce with him. Maybe a little niceness from her will stop him from bothering her.
"Okay here's the deal, I'm going to sit here and sketch peacefully, while you stay at least 5 meters away from me." She looked at him while cocking her head slightly. "Or maybe you just can't stay away from me did you?" She smirked, she just could not stop teasing him for one bit, can't she?

Well she was full of herself, wasn't she? All the same Eliphas just shrugged at the sentiment posed by the girl and thought it best to simply not respond. It seemed more like a rhetorical question, anyway, and he doubted any good would come from him contradicting her view of herself and her importance in his life.
What he wasn't expecting was the humour she found in his words. Though he'd always been a little mischievous and easy to befriend, he'd never really been considered funny. And it wasn't as though he was even trying to be in that moment either. She was simply a little much, and had managed to bring out the worst in him. That wasn't something he appreciated, in truth. He liked being nice...
He held his tongue for the rest of their journey up, getting something of a sense that she too would have preferred they remain quiet in that moment. Something was on her mind, he could tell from her mannerisms, but he didn't know what. Nor would he pry. Her business wasn't his business, even if she tried to make it so.
Once at the top he paused and turned full circle to appreciate the view out of all the windows. From up here they could see everything! Even more than he could from the Ravenclaw Common Room, he'd argue, if only because it was further out toward the grounds. He marveled at it, happy to remain quiet and simply soak it in.
Of course, she had other ideas. Even when there was silence she couldn't help but demand it.
"Let's make that six meters," he retorted, with a roll of his eyes. He approached the opposite side of the clocktower, and stared up at the moving clockface as it ticked away the seconds. He didn't much like the idea of being up here when it rang, no doubt their ears would be blasted into oblivion.
But they had a little while. Eventually he turned away from the clockface and leaned on the window ledge, peering out over the grounds. Maybe he could spot the Giant Squid from up here? He wasn't sure if it even existed, or if someone was playing a prank on him when they said it was down in the lake. What kind of crazy school kept a giant squid in the lake?!@Pea Elena Fowl

The view up here did make her feel a little better. The lake especially is much more exquisite from up here. In comparison to down there, she would never get peace from the crowded students. But from here? She can admire it as long as she can without getting annoyed. Well that is not totally true, the boy is still here and completely ruining her experience. She wished she can just get him out or if there's a spell to just make him go away, but it's not like she own Hogwarts is she. Although can you imagine if she is? She definitely won't even let him get inside the tower or even stand near her. She smiled at the peaceful thought.
She sat on the window and took out her sketchbook, and graphite. Usually, her painting process took two days, the first day is for sketching and getting the shapes of the environment down, and then the next day, she would paint them in watercolor. Maybe she can visit this place again tomorrow, and she would not have this twerp ruining her mood. But since she won't have time to sketch and also paints tomorrow, she just has to just stick it out for today.
After several minutes of thinking of which spot she’d like to draw, she decides to draw the lake edge that has some looming trees and bushes.
Then she starts to draw.
Minutes passed, it was quiet, the boy also didn’t make a sound. Good. Maybe he left. That would be better, but then she can still see his shadow in the corner of her eyes, she groans. Another several minutes have passed. She almost finishes half her sketch. But she still sees him in the corner of her eyes again and started to get really annoyed, even though he has not done anything. She breathed,
“Can you go much further? Like much much furth-“ before she can finish her sentence,
BANG!
The clocked chimed loudly. VERY loudly. And since she is under the clock directly which is a horrible decision on her end, she screams so loudly she almost sounds like a dying crow.
