Nate hated the fact that he was so close to the goal and suddenly found himself back at the beginning, or so it seemed to him. Locked in this chest, he tried not to let his emotions control him, but to keep his wits about him. As annoyed as he was, he was his father's son and he would never give up, even if it took him another twenty hours to leave this labyrinth.

Thanks to Lumos, he could at least see something, but he also felt that something was moving. The sensation gave him a headache because, after all, he couldn't see if anything was actually moving, but it sure felt like it. "Concentrate Nate." The Russian admonished himself and focused again on what he could see. But it was almost nothing. He was in an empty chest and a rope around his body. He tried to twist in it to loosen it further and he used the spot that was already loose to somehow get the rope off him. If he could do that, this rope would probably also be a help to get out, but first he would have to get to that step.

He kept calm and continued to try to free himself, he would first try without magic, hoping that his physical abilities would be enough. Should that not be the case, he would have to think about it further.

Where to go? Forward, apparently. The Hogwarts student seemed to offer no meaningful answer to Greta's query and so the young girl resumed her sights upon the trio of signs. But they may as well have been foreign, ancient runes for all the good that did. Her conversational English may have been improving, but that didn't necessarily translate to an understanding of the written word.

The Broken, she mouthed, lips forming the sounds of the words without the accompanying comprehension. "Yes?" she asked one more time, glancing back over her shoulder. To no avail. Not to be deterred, however, she simply steeled her expression, facing squarely forward. Yes. Forward. One step, and then another and Greta made her way forward. Why not? When the path deviated and offered splitting opportunities, who was to say which way was the correct way? She suspected most might opt to investigate what they might perceive to be the route less taken. But how many actually ended up just facing that which was immediately before them? It seemed as good a choice as any. So she took it.

As she did, the fog seemed to thicken, robbing her of clarity of sight. A hand lifted, waving feebly back and forth as though to create a draft to send it away. It didn't. Swallowing, she continued on, eyes darting left and right, squinting through the dense air in an attempt to see what was there. Something moved nearby. She spun to face it. Nothing.

"You did see--" She had turned to ask her companion if she had seen what Greta had just seen. She wasn't there. "Hello?" She turned the other way, locks bouncing as she did, and spun on the spot in search of the other girl. "Lavinia?"

Alone. She was alone. The fog had robbed her not only of her awareness, but of her partner as well. A chill of dread shivered down the length of her spine, and fingers tightened their grip upon her wand. If it wasn't for Lavinia, she undoubtedly would have been left stranded by the cookies. She had only made it this far because the two had stuck together. Now that they were separated, there was no telling what might happen. That notion did not sit well with her. Not at all.

"H-hello?" she called again, her voice a choked whisper. "Lavinia?" she asked again, pleading into the corridor as she took one tremulous step after another down the corridor, back to the arch. Tick tick tick. Suddenly aware of a sound not unlike the ticking of a clock, that sense of unease only deepened. "LAVINIA??" she shouted this time, tears rimming her eyes. She didn't want to be alone, didn't want to spend one more second vulnerable and at the potential disposal of whatever it was in that corridor that watched her. The clock was ticking. Literally. Time was running out. Whether she was near or far from the exit, it didn't matter. She couldn't linger there.

Wheeling on the spot, Greta kicked off into a sprint. Skirts bounced and spun at her knees with every urgent step, hair flagging out behind her. The exit was before her. Or... something. An arch. Whatever it was, she made a mad dash towards it.

Had this been a good idea? Probably not, but did she have a better one? Nope.
So Opeila had done it like Flash and yeeted herself across the pit with the Ascendation Spell and like Flash she was going to land hard- except that her friend didn't seem to intend to let her. As she was falling, Flash suddenly appeared below her, apparently attempting to catch her. Opeila fell on top of her housemate, unscratched and unhurt and quickly got off of him and back to her feet. "Ugh, I'm sorry, Flash. You alri-", she began, when Flash quickly ran over to the pit and grabbed the french girl who had tried to jump across.

Opeila as well made her way over, but a bit late. When she reached the two students, Kit was already safe and back up. "Everyone alright?", she asked, crouching down next to the two, taking the short break to gain some energy again as well. When Flash and Kit got up again, so did she, following wherever they wanted to go next. As long as it wouldn't get them to the next deathtrap anywhere was fine. After two years of Hogwarts, Opeila would not die in a goddamn maze.

There would be no exploration into the void this time. With Flash's help, Kit would get herself up enough to kick one foot over before rolling herself a little further out of harm's way. Fingers tapped on the ground as blue eyes looked at the sky above, waiting for the last of the adrenaline to leave her. When it finally did, Kit found laughter instead- leftover surprise at what had just happened. Even the entire maze in general had been one big surprise so far, nothing going quite as she expected. It was a soft sound, one for herself only, but eventually it too would die down as she prepped for the rest of the maze.

"I'm alright," the redhead would stand on her own, offering a nod to Flash. "Thanks." It seemed Opeila had managed to avoid most danger so far, although Kit suspected that the landing hadn't been all that pleasant- even with a human cushion. Still, the girl was curious to see if that hypothesis would stay as she glanced towards their only way forward. The fog certainly wasn't appealing, but it wasn't new either. It was manageable, like hopefully the rest of the maze would be.
Continue forward.
