Bloom could not help but to feel a sense of relief that she had finally caught up with her peers. They were at the next task which seemed to have caught Elena by the wrist. Bloom's smile nearly disappeared as she stared at the vine that was catching her new friend. She wanted to do something, but luckily, with Howard's thought, she did not do anything and just watched. She had hoped that he was right and that it was just her needing to be still and calm for the plant to let go.

Elena even took it a step further and spoke to the wall, too. It was the thing that plants can listen to everything said. According to Bloom's mother, there are people out there who even sing to plants. She remembered learning about that when they put their own makeshift garden together in their small backyard. They sang nursery songs together as a joke. It was a nice summer.

Hearing her name, Bloom made her way to Howard. She was not going to lose them again and this time, she would make sure to stay by their side. Even more so, Howard's side. He seemed to be the strongest one in the group, and it was always smart to tag along the strongest person.

Holding onto her wand, Bloom watched Howard open the door. What was on the other side? She held onto her wand tightly, thinking of any spell she could, hoping her chances of matching a spell with whatever was on the other side would work.

"Here goes nothing," she said as he gently opened the door.

ACTION: Standing next to Howard, wand at ready, as he opens. the door.

Middle Route

The moment around the newly revealed door remained somewhat tense as the group recognized that the maze was more than happy to turn things into a fight if they wanted it. While Elena struggled against the grip of the wooden hand, it would quickly become clear that its strength was far beyond hers and had no intention of releasing her hand. That was until Elena released her grip on the wand. Immediately small vines wrapped around the wand and pulled it deep within the hedge and beyond view, fully consuming the small wand.

The hand around Elena’s wrist finally eased and released the girl before slithering its way back inside the depths of the hedge. Wrist free but now wandless, Elena may just be hoping that she would see her trusty wand again. Losing it before the start of school might complicate classes.

With Bloom backing him up, it would be Howard who would make the move to open the door. The boy was remaining cautious and continued to show that intellect and cleverness was a valid way to make it through the maze. The moment Howard’s hand touched the doorknob, however, long slender spider-like legs would begin to emerge from the walls of the hedges. About the size of dinner plates, disconcerting spiders made of what appeared to be wood began pulling themselves out of the depths of the hedge to scuttle along the wall towards the door and towards Elena.

There were no moves of aggression from the wooden spider or the moving vines of the hedge, but they all seemed to be watching with anticipation. Howard would be able to open the door with no resistance. It swung open slowly with a creak and revealed the freedom of the familiar grounds beyond. With Elena free, Howard would step through the threshold… Again there was no resistance. On the ground several feet away, Howard might spot a wand discarded in the grass that likely belonged to his companion. But with no hostility offered, it seemed as though the maze had no intention of stopping Howard from accepting his newfound freedom. With Bloom and Elena still on the other side of the threshold, they would be able to see the way now open.


Available Directions: Can Attempt to leave through the door. Howard is free of the maze!
Elena is bound by the wrist

How to Navigate the Maze

1. Each round you can choose an available direction to travel or to take a different action.
2. Each moderation will list the available directions for each student.
3. You can choose to stay as a group or wander off on your own. But if you are alone...beware of the orange.
4. Depending on the paths chosen, you may encounter challenges or changes within the maze.
5. Stats will be used in this tread and thus you will need to ensure they are in your trunk.
6. There will be a moderation post at least once a week. Quicker moderations will be done if all active participants have replied.
7. If a participant misses two weeks of moderation, it will be assumed they decided to take a nap and will be removed from the maze for their safety!
8. As always...clothing will be required in this thread!

The minute Howard had touched the doorknob, what looked like a wooden spider had come out of the hedges. Bloom shivered at the thought of spiders. She did not mind them and would totally touch one if she knew they were friendly, but there was something about how they look that truly gives her the shivers. Was it because they were just creepy looking? Probably? Their long, slender legs and rounded body was not a sight to see.

The worst part of it all was that while Howard seemed free to run to the other side, the spider went towards Elena. It seemed the hedge wanted to pick on her instead of keeping the attention even between them all. Poor Elena.

Bloom had a choice and in a way it could be easy, but it felt hard. She could go through he door and win the maze alongside Howard, or she could go back and help Elena and whatever else happens, happens. Looking outside the door, she could feel like it was the end. They had gone so far. But quite frankly, leaving someone behind was cruel. Bloom walked back to Elena and saw that her wrist was still bound. What could she do?

"This is going to be a long shot...," Bloom said, pointing her wand at what was grabbing Elena. "Lapifors!" she shouted with clarity. She was in hopes that she could turn whatever it was into a peaceful rabbit and perhaps both of them could get out in time with Howard.

ACTION: Use the Lapifors spell on the object which is restraining Elena.

She had offered up her wand in exchange for her freedom and it was a deal the maze seemed more than willing to accept. Take away her magic and it would set her free or that was the plan at least as she shot a glance back at Howard who had already found the way out. The brunette watched as it surrendered it's iron grip and she rubbed her wrist shooting it a glare. "I'm serious, I better get that back in the same way I found it." Clearly, threatning the maze had not been a very smart idea to do but then again, Gryffindors were not known for their wisdom. They knew the pointy end of a wand and even that had been taken from her frowning as something seemed to scuttle down the maze walls towards that looked remotely like..were those spiders?

She blinked once, twice, three times to make sure she was not just seeing things but apparently standing still and trying to comprehend what was real and what was not would cost her a few precious seconds. "Spiders, it had to be spiders." The brunette muttered under her breath criniging at the irony of it all but refused to be held back at the final step. Howard and Bloom although they could have left her if they wanted and simply walked away were staying behind to make sure she got through as well and Elena felt an immense amount of respect and gratefulness for the two of them. They didn't have to but they did putting themselves at risk as well and without a wand, Elena was as much help as a muggle, she had her hands but somehow, she decided after the thing had taken her wand, she didn't want to lose her hands as well her head turning towards the door ducking as Bloom fired off a spell in the hopes of rescuing her from the clutches of this truly horrible and twisted maze.

"Here goes nothing!" With a great heave and the courage of an whole army, the girl pulled away trying to put as much distance between her, the maze, the spiders and made for the door almost breaking out at a sprint. The maze had gotten her once and for some reason, it was solely focused on her. Elena had to wonder if she really had offended it that much? Maybe the wand-poke had been a bad idea but it had been the only one that had crossed her mind. Right now, the only thing that was on her mind was getting out of this and having to explain to her parents how she had wound up losing her wand in a maze, that was a converstation that she did not want to have. There was also the possibility it had been safely stored somewhere and not just discarded somewhere but right now, that was the least of her concerns as her eyes riveted towards Bloom and Howard and the threshold on which they stood, the exit almost beckoning her forth as behind her, the spiders seemed to be closing in. She was not staying around to have a converstation with those eight-legged monsters.

Howard's long fingers wrapped gently around the wood of the doorknob. He was doing his best to be gentle with this living maze as it seemed that it responded to touch like any other living thing. With light pressure he would turn the knob. A long exhale of relief would wash over him as the maze had set him free. "It's open!" Howard spun around as he announced to the others, but that's when the walls would begin to scurry with activity.

Long, wooden legs that resembled arachnid forms began to spring forth from the vines. "Uh...Bloom, Elena. I think we ought to go." These wood spiders did not make any aggressive actions, but if anything this maze could be quite temperamental. No need to stick around before they became trapped again. Through brute strength, adept casting and quick minds they had made their way through to very end. "C'mon! Lets go!" The urge to be free sprung him into action as he made his way back towards the door. Bloom was nearby and Elena seemed to be free. It was time to go!

Howard's last step was almost a leap as he exited the maze. With a sidestep he would avoid stepping on what was obviously a wand. He had no idea what Elena's looked like, but he would assume it was hers. "Hey! It's your wand. C'mon! Get the hell outta there!" He continued to urge them on. If they both gained their freedom, Howard would return Elena's wand and congratulate them both before offering to escort them back to camp. If they didn't gain their freedom he would attempt to make his way back in to help.

Action: Enjoying the victory! Or going back to help the others
