"I can't sing a lick to save my life," Mariah said with a shrug and then nodded to Celynne. "She can though."
She had, at the moment, no particular feelings about the club of she was being honest. It sounded like a group of kids who said they'd band together if there was ever a chance to prove themselves. Which was fine by all accounts, but from what Kaegan was saying, they wouldn't be friends outside of these little meetings. It hurt Mariah's feelings. She put a lot of effort into being Kaegan's friend and to know the whole ordeal was just for him to say "Hey, when I need you to fix this with me, just come, but only then."
She had counted her befriending him a personal victory, one thing she had done right in her track record of messing up since she got here. Sadly enough, Mariah would still be part of this little team. She happened to like Celynne and she had few friends in this school. Maybe as time went on, friendship would come. If she were patient. If she could stop being so sensitive and just roll with whatever was coming. She supposed she could do that.

Celynne listened to the lyrics carefully, noting the wording and possible meanings. Pretty well-written. She could just imagine what the tune might be...
But when her Hufflepuff friend suggested her as a singer, Cel’s eyes widened, rather involuntarily. “Me?” she yelped, uncertain. “But…” Only Mariah knew about her singing skill at Hogwarts, from before they were even sorted into their respective houses. There was just never a situation when she had needed to tell anyone… uh, anything at all, actually, not just about her voice.
“I guess I could try,” the girl sighed doubtfully. She cast her eyes downward at the lyrics to begin the song, not all too certain of the melody she had devised in her mind but growing more confident as it progressed.
The silent deep, shrouded in cold
To rise above the mortal fold
We’ve taken time on winding road
Born from ash, becoming gold
The winds were roaring through the night
The shadows move to take flight
The comet red, its brilliance spread
Their eyes like torches blazing with light
Her voice resonated through the peaceful night, growing from uncertain to a mellifluous harmony. Bit by bit, emotion crept into the music until she closed her eyes to better focus on the song.
When she finished, she opened her heterochromic eyes, uncertainly trying to gauge the two fellow students’ reactions to the attempt.

Her voice is supposed to basically sound like mine, just some extra info. I'll finish recording it soon... eventually... EVENTUALLY

Kaegen was humming along with the tune, but his humming didn't sound at all like celery's melody. It didn't sound like any melody. It could hardly be heard, and unless the other two students were paying close attention, they probably wouldn't hear anything. It was a broken joke of a melody that somehow pulled off being haunting, ominous. He thought he could hear other melodies, thought that everything had a melody. It was mostly just his imagination, but his imagination was pretty accurate when it came to these melodies. They weren't especially nice to listen to, but if you could hear them it would feel like something. Give you a feeling of power, or fear. Not anything big, or noticeable. Similar to how you get excited when listening to fast music, or sad when you listen to slow.
"That sounds fine, we have a song now."
They had a song, which was fine. They had to stick together at least a little bit or they wouldn't get anywhere. The whole point of this was to get a group, and to make sure a group stays a group you do require some form of unity. The song would do just fine
"Any other questions?"

Mariah shook her head. No, what they were doing was pretty clear. It was a straight forward kind of thing. They were simply killing time until something came up that would require their attention. Mariah looked at her two classmates to see if they had much of anything else to tell her. It was getting late and Mariah had no intention of getting caught out on the grounds so close to midnight. She was sure it wouldn't blow over kindly with the staff.
Mariah had never been much of a troublemaker and she had no intention of starting up now. She looked about them, keeping her eyes peeled for any sort of shadow or figure coming their way. It wasn't really like she was in a hurry to leave, it was more like she didn't feel particularly comfortable standing out in the open so exposed like they were. She looked down into the hidey-hole, studying it briefly.
"Will this fit us all in it?" She asked. "Because if it can and we're still planning to keep this meeting open, don't you think it would be better to go down there?" She looked to the other two children, raising her sculpted eyebrow in question.

His face was stone, at least to her. Hmph. Shouldn't have expected much more. At least he hadn't hated it... which she considered an accomplishment on her own part.
Cel shook her head silently in response to Kaegen's question. That was a lie, actually-- she had plenty of questions, but she knew most, as usual, were completely unnecessary and irrelevant-- and he probably wouldn't answer them in the way she wanted, anyway. Sometimes-- no, most of the time, not just sometimes... most of the time, lying was a lot less complicated than explaining the truth. That went for a lot of things.
Besides, she was fairly sure they didn't really have an exact plan. This Silens Fax was a way for him to make allies and make sure they stayed allies. Smart, that way-- create a sense of unity, of grouping, and it's harder for the others to run away. And there I go again, calculating, she sighed in her own mind. Parker had always said she was more scheming than she thought. At first she'd been horrified, but he'd told her it wasn't a bad thing, and she'd calmed down somewhat.
"The tree?" the girl muttered. "It looks... cramped." Her eyes darted away. "Really cramped." Oh, come on. You're barely even claustrophobic. It's just the anticipated squishiness that's getting to you. Besides, she's right-- "Um, is there anything else to talk about, though?" Cel added.

He had finished everything he had tried to start, at least in regards to the silens fax. More would come later, or they wouldn't. Someone would take charge, or not. He was going to help guide it up. Beyond that it didn't really matter to them if it was dark or light magic, good or bad things they were doing. You couldn't really afford to be choosy. Especially when you were expecting the members to share whatever magical power they managed to grab from the cracks of hogwarts castle.
One of the two girls wanted to go in, the other didn't because it was cramped? They were small and 11 and besides, half of the log was under the mud, they could stand in it. It wasn't exactly cramped quarters. "We can fit, it's not cramped. If you want to talk more down there we can. Otherwise just remember that anyone can call a meeting. Just make sure there's reason."
His eyes were starting to move even faster. It was almost as if the eyes were not a part of the boy, rather a separate and more sensible person that looked out for him. A separate and sensible person with emotions. They were trying to find threats, professors, prefects or anyone else that could potentially pose a threat to the little group. He had put together some runes to make a defense, but he didn't really know if he was going to be able to cast it effectively. It was probably safer if he just pushed those thoughts from his mind and waited to see what they wanted to do. He was effectively done here, but he wasn't going to dismiss them. After all, he wasn't the leader.

A question popped into Cel's mind so quickly that she blinked in surprise, wondering why she hadn't thought of it before. Probably sparked by the black-haired boy's words.
"Wait," she muttered, holding up a finger. "Hogwarts is a large castle. If we do want to call a meeting, how do we contact each other? We can't very well just find each other individually in the corridors. And even though I might be able to find Kaegen in the Ravenclaw Common Room, but Mariah-- and it's not a bad thing, of course, variation is great-- is a Hufflepuff. Her Common Room isn't anywhere near the West Tower, and I wouldn't be able to find her." The girl sighed, sidling back to lean against the tree again. "We need either a way to communicate, a specified meeting point, or a place to drop messages. Preferably coded ones, too," she said thoughtfully, mental gears whirring in her head. "Somewhere in between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw common rooms, that we can each check daily or something. If we use that idea, that is." Again Cel sighed, doing her best to not get lost in her own ideas. Parker always told her to keep an open mind to other peoples' ideas. "What do you two think?"

There was nothing else for him to say, no point in going any farther in depth. He had accomplished everything he had set out to do, he hadn't achieved perfection but at least he had gotten close. They were part of the group now, even if there wasn't very much solidarity between them. He had heard that solidarity was something groups needed to succeed but he wasn't sure he really understood what it was, not exactly anyway. He was offering something, they were offering something. They all got power, they all gained something in this deal. He could live with that, accept it as a bond. And if he could accept it, why couldn't they? Putting his slight fears to bed he started to address the questions.
"It's big enough, more than half is covered in mud anyway. If you want to talk more, we can talk in there if you want. Otherwise, remember that anyone can call a meeting, just make sure you have reason."
There, he had effectively removed the responsibility of calling meetings. He wasn't jumping to be leader, he wasn't entirely sure if they needed one. If no one else brought it up, he wouldn't either.
