A New Adventure Open Closed

Finley had been up since the sun the morning she was to start her journey at Hogwarts. She was currently in her room, going over everything she had packed for what seemed like the thousandth time. Bones, the family dog, was laying on the carpet near her, his eyes watching her every move. He seemed to sense that something was off about today, yet being just a dog he didn't have the intellect to figure out what it was. Locke, Finley's mother, knocked on her door before opening it a second later, not even slightly surprised to find her daughter still checking her things. "Darling," She said, her voice calm and soothing. "Everything is going to be just fine. Both your father and I attended Hogwarts when we were your age as well as your grandparents and cousins. You are going to do just fine."
Finley smiled up at her mother, the calm reassurance doing wonders for her nerves. "Thanks, mom, I know everything is okay. I just wish that I could take Bones with me and that I wouldn't have to leave all my friends here." She sighed and finally closed her suitcase, deciding that whatever was in the bag would have to do. "I'm really going to miss you and dad too. I guess I'm just worried that things at Hogwarts aren't going to be as good as they are here."
Her mother nodded, taking in every word. "Well, if you decide that you would rather go to school here with your friends then we can make arrangements for you to do that. Though, I think you should give Hogwarts a try. I really do believe that you will like it. Speaking of which, it's time to leave, so say your last goodbye to Bones."
Finely made her way over to her dog, who stood up when she approached. "I'll see you in a few months buddy." She said, trying to hold back the tears that she could feel in her eyes. "Behave for mom and dad, I don't want to get home on Christmas and you not be here." A few more pats to Bones' head and Finley stood up wiped her eyes and left her room and house for the station where she would be whisked away to Hogwarts.

Once at the train station, Finely said her final teary goodbyes to her parents and boarded the train, eyes glued to every window she passed trying to catch one more glimpse of her parents. She continued down the long corridor of the train car, looking for an empty or at least not a crowded car. She could see all of the returning students, students that were way older than her and that definitely wouldn't want her around.
It took her a little while, but she soon found a car with only one other student in it
Remembering that her mother had previously told her to give this new experience an honest try, she carefully opened the car door and peeked her head inside. "Would you mind if I joined you?" She asked as she felt the train start to move under her feet.

Camille could hear people walking around outside as he looked out the window. Students catching up with one another, finding places to sit together, all while avoiding the compartment he was in. He could feel the train start to move slowly and watched as the people on the station started moving slowly away. He started to zone out when he heard the door of the compartment open. He jumped slightly when he heard someone ask if they could join him. He turned towards the door straightening up slightly to see a girl about his age standing in the door way.

He hadn't actually expected anyone to actually come in but now he was in a social situation. "Uh... um sure you can sit in here. I... I don't mind," he managed to stutter out, giving his best friendly smile which probably looked more awkward than anything else. Being social had truly never been Cam's strong suit, surprisingly, so talking to new people was quite hard. Miss Ariya though had told him though that he should at least try talking to others when he could, he would never get any better at it if he didn't try to begin with. He also knew that most of the other compartments where full and it would just be rude to push the girl away. He would rather be an awkward social mess than be rude to someone he knew nothing about. A bad reputation on the first day would be a terrible start to the school year.

Georgia hurriedly scrambled through the wall to platform 9 and 3/4 quarters with her mother and sister not far behind. Not only was she drained from the lack of sleep, she was late to catch the train. Of course it had to be today of all days that she was going to be late. Her mother and sister had gotten in from Scotland last night and overslept in the hotel. It didn't help that Georgia hardly slept last nice, as she was bouncing with excitement.

Out of breath and sweating heavily through her blue sweater, she saw the bright red train as the whistle was blown for last minute boarding's. Her mother halted her as she kissed her on the cheek, handed Georgia her trunk and said "Sorry dear, no time for proper goodbyes."

Her little sister reached out to hug Georgia but her mother pulled her back "No time Elspeth, she's going to miss the train." Georgia blew her sister a kiss and grabbed her trunk as she raced off towards the train.

Waving her ticket at the man she boarded the train just in time, as moments after it began to move. She dumped her trunk on the ground of the train and bent over panting for breath, listening to students filtered into compartments.

Not wanting to be the last one in the hallway, she made her way down to find an compartment not too overcrowded. Although she was super friendly and outgoing she was very aware of her , bright red cheeks and sweaty face might not make a good first appearance. She just wanted to find a compartment with few people she could get to know before she was sorted.

She came halt at an compartment where a girl stood standing in the doorway, she peered through the glass to see she had just asked a boy occupying the compartment to join. Georgia cleared her throat, not wanting to scare her. "Is it alright if I can sit hear too?" she asked looking between her and the boy. She bashed them a smile, hoping her cheeks were starting to cool down into a nice blush now.

Finley smiled widely a quick, "Thank you," slipping from her lips. She quickly placed her belongings above her and took a seat as she felt the train begin to move. "I'm Finley! What's your name?" Her head turned quickly as she saw another person show up to their cabin. "I have no problem with it so as long as he is okay with it go ahead." The girl's attention turned to the window showing the outside as the train left the station. She could no longer see her parents and panic started to build in her body. A deep breath later and some level of calm hit her as she stared out the train window seeing the city she had grown up in rush past her.

Yet again she found herself reminiscing about the non-magical things about her childhood. About Bones and the hell that had been the process of training him. About all of the camping and nature adventures she had experienced with her family. Finley took another deep breath, trying to push back the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.

She forced herself to look away from the window and back to the other two people that were currently with her. "So, is it your first time to Hogwarts as well?" She asked both of them. "I didn't even know my parents could do magic until I found out I could," Finley said, giggling slightly at the memory.

The girl came in and sat down, he nodded his head slightly as he heard her say a quick thank you. The girl asked his name and just before he could answer her another girl appeared asking if she could join them. The previous girl said she was fine with it and he nodded his head knowing full well the other compartments where probably filling up pretty quickly.

He was slightly unsure if he should say anything as the first girl, who had introduced herself as Finley, had asked his name. He was really nervous though because now not only was there just one person but two new people he didn't know. He would be lying if he said he wasn't freaking out internally. Luckily though, Finley started talking some more, asking once again another question.

He was glad to know it wasn't just his first time going to Hogwarts. He was interested though that Finley's parents did magic though, he knew nothing of the world before getting his letter. He had read about different wizarding families and always wonder what life was like for those who grew up with magic. He had always believed in magic growing up, pretending to do spells and look for magical creatures. So the fact it all actually existed amazed him truly.

"Y... yeah it's my f... first time to H... Hogwarts," he managed to stutter out, fiddling with his locket to help calm his nerves. " I um... I'm C... Cam by the way," he introduced himself quickly, deciding he should answer the question from earlier. He decided to just use his nickname because, from experience, he usually got teased when he said his actual name so for now he would play it safe.

"It's nice to meet you, Cam." She smiled, happy to be with someone who was also having their first-year start. "I was kind of worried that I wouldn't meet anyone else who was starting their first year." Finley sat back against the seat and rubbed her temple for a second. All of the excitement and novelty of the situation was giving her a headache. a few deep breaths later and she was back to smiling and being excited. "Are you excited about going to Hogwarts? I'm not sure if I'll like it or not. My parents even said that if I didn't like it then they'd bring me home if I wanted. Though, I'm really hoping that I find some friends and that I like the classes and everything else." She stopped talking, and fell into her own thoughts. Even though the train ride there was going well she was still exceedingly nervous for the rest of the school year. What if her teachers or the other students didn't like her? What if they found out she was a parselmouth?

Finley tried to calm her nerves and take a few deep breaths. She wished she had Bones with her right now. Bones had always been a calming force for her. Anytime she found herself stressed out, anxious, angry, or really any other negative emotion, she need only find her dog and the issue seemed to immediately go away. She looked back over at the boy who had identified himself as Cam quickly before looking out the window.
