"You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil"

—The Sorting Hat

The Great Hall is a large room with four long tables where students of each House sit during the day and at mealtimes. A majestic enchanted ceiling that mirrors the outside weather is watching over people in the room.

When you just pass the door from the Entrance Hall, Hufflepuff's table is a bit far. This table is the fourth one, after Gryffindor and Ravenclaw on the left and Slytherin on the right. Hufflepuff students are sharing meals and good talks at this table, and you will always be  warmly
welcomed there.

The Hufflepuff Table 2021-2022
Eleanor watched quietly as the remaining students were sorted. Occasionally, she glanced at her fellow Hufflepuffs. Most of them were watching the Sorting, others had a distant look in their eyes, some were looking longingly at their empty plates, and a few people were whispering quietly to their friends. Eleanor was no longer as nervous as she had been prior to the sorting, and in its absence she noticed she was feeling quite hungry. She hadn't eaten anything in hours and she knew they would have a feast after the sorting, but it just seemed to go on forever.

Finally, the Headmaster called the name of the final student, and Eleanor watched them scurry down to their table. It was time to eat. Eleanor had never seen so many kinds of food on one table in her life. She tried to fit a bit of everything onto her plate, but it wasn't big enough and she decided she would go back for second helpings later. She and the other students began eating, everyone else seemed to be just as hungry as she was. A few minutes later, Eleanor was feeling considerably less hungry, and many of the students had begun talking to each other. Eleanor looked around at the Hufflepuffs sitting nearby, looking for someone to talk to.

Cody Stevenson looked slightly disconcerted. He was finally sorted. From being a Hufflepuff once he was sorted, was cool. He walked, nearly ran, to the Hufflepuff table, or rather, the Slytherin Table. How did he not see the green and silver color on that table? He backed up, quickly running as fast as he could, his face reddened with embarrassment. Sure, he was new to Hogwarts, and to the idea of Magic, but, he had to at least set a reputation for himself.

The boy smiled, wiping off his sweat. His eyebrows were furrowed of course, and he would not deny that. He looked a little perplexed, while grinning.

He noticed a girl, a newly sorted girl that he saw earlier. "Um- is your name... Talpin, Eleanor?" The boy sighed, "My name is Cody Stevenson. Hello. What was your first instance of magic? Wait- first, tell me your wand. Um- if you are confused, I can tell you mine first." The boy quickly added, slightly panicky.

"Um, I was in a fight with my brother, when I was younger, and I noted that somehow, a curtain I was standing near, was ignited on fire. This was when I was seven. I was angrier than all get out." He drew out his wand, "Um, my wand is clearly longer than my arm, But the wood itself is a dogwood, and the core, kinda scares me, because of all the stories on Trolls. I have a troll whisker core. Oh, did you know, that my wand is unbendable. I don't think I came across anyone with a springy wand."

Willowest shined her teeth as she turned to look around the busy cafeteria area. Gradually her smile lost its weight. This was going to be a mess. Finally, the typical blondie with blue eyes spotted her destination. With pride and courage backing her, she picked up her pace and finally arrived at the table across the room.
"Erm- hello!"
Nobody heard her, and she didn't bother repeating herself. Instead she decided to take a seat between a nervous chattery light-haired boy around her age, and another Hufflepuff her age. She was about to say something, when she lost her train of thought.

Willowest couldn't help but drown out the sounds of speech in the cafeteria with her heartbeat drumming in her ears. She felt sick. Her gaze traveled downwards towards the plate as the headmaster announced the feasts beginning. Could she really eat right now? She didn't have a clue. Her gut told her she couldn't, but her logical thinking told her she should.
Her fork scratched the plate beneath a meaty substance she seemed to forget the name of in the heat of the moment. Willowest cringed at the scathed sound. Her head bent to examine her fellow housemates as she continued to wolf down food. The chit-chat boy looked nervous. She absentmindedly nodded in agreement with his expressions. Her focus narrowed on the person next to her. Her shoe bumped into theirs on accident, and West perked up immediately.
"OH! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do that!"
Her senses kicked in as she realized why she recognized the person.
"Hey... you're... sorry, I can't recall your name real well. I think I saw you during your sorting ceremony, then headed towards this table!" Her mind fumbled for what the persons name could be.
"Mmmh... Sorry, my minds a little fuddled from all the excitement!" She exclaimed breathlessly. The blonde girl stuck out a greased spotted hand without noticing the stains. When West took note of them, she quickly yanked a napkin and cleaned up her pale hand. She stuck it out again for a handshake, this time without all the grease from the food she had already dug into.

Grant Dale watched the new arrivals of this year file in and then get Sorted one by one. He was very glad that this year he got to avoid all of that and just sit at the Hufflepuff table but, having only gone through it just the prior year, he also felt for the mix of nervous and some excited kids who now filed in. Plus of course kept a curious eye out for if they would be gaining any more Hufflepuff this year.

It seemed likely, in fact, while Grant couldn't really tell, it seemed, if not an even spread, not too lopsided ever with Sortings of what he'd seen both last year and now, but then maybe Four was a really good number for that.

Grant clapped with the rest of the table as more and more were added and until the main Sorting seemed done and the new Hufflepuff's made their way over. While Grant could be, and had been, shy his own first year and in general, he'd gained enough confidence in all this magic stuff in a year and understanding made him at least try for friendly greeting (and if any table was going to make a good show of that, it had to be Hufflepuff right?).

"Hey Welcome! Nice to have ya!", Grant said to the whole of the newbies in general but also the two girls and one boy who took seats nearest his end of the table. He listened with a small smile as they shared such typical new experiences as First Instances of Magic and such.

Hufflepuff Table

Nervous would've been an understatement for the young and newly titled Hufflepuff First Year. With a friendly grin that mixed with nervousness and excitement, she made her way with a bit too much enthusiasm towards the table of Hufflepuff's-- Though, considering everything, perhaps there was never too much enthusiasm for Hufflepuff's... That would be a thought for later, she decided.

Her eyes scanned the new first years that had found their place at the table, smiling and offering the tiniest of waves. "Hello, you all!" She blurted out, which likely was a bit too forceful for someone they'd never met before. She settled into the table, unable to keep her excitement at a bay. "Isn't it wonderful!?" She interjected, a bright smile on her face. "It's so wonderful to meet you all, I mean! I'm Orla Finch!" She said quickly, glancing at those in her vicinity.

"Oh! I saw you two on the train!" She said, pointing to the little blonde boy and the dark-haired girl. "Was it... Eleanor and..." She fished for the name in her mind, furrowing her brows. "Co...Cody!" She chipped finally. She was quick to move on to her next thought. "Well, it's nice to meet you formally!" She turned her attention to the older boy that spoke, her eyes practically sparkling with the joy of meeting so many new and glorious people. She let out an overjoyed laugh, nodding her head. "Glad to be here... To be honest... I had no idea what to expect." She admitted quickly.

She pointed her finger at the table of Gryffindor's and to a boy on the farther left side. "That's my brother. Caspian. He doesn't like going by Caspian, so just call him Cas. Anyways. He's a Gryffindor so I thought I might be a Gryffindor too but... Surprise surprise!" She laughed outwardly, finally getting her brother's attention and waving frantically at him. "What about you all? Did you expect it?!"

Orla S. Finch
The Hufflepuff Table 2021-2022
Mentioned: Orla Finch - Open

A loud cheer welcomed her after the Sorting Hat shouted Hufflepuff, the pupils clapped and she stumbled to her new house table. A young girl introduced herself as Orla Finch and Violet sat down next to her. Someone clapped her shoulder as she sat down and she couldnt believe her eyes as the chalice infront of her magically filled with grape juice. The Finch girl seemed to be eager to introduce everybody to her brother a Ravenclaw, or was it a Gryffindor? on the other side of the Hall, "...Anyways. He's a Gryffindor, so I thought I might be a Gryffindor too..." Oh no! Was there something she didnt knew about the Hufflepuffs? Were those the ones nobody liked? Violet had no Idea as her knowledge about the Wizarding World, as Madame Malkin who just happened to fit on her newest school uniform named it, was next to zero.
Her parents and she struggled to even find the hidden Diagon Alley only a lucky circumstance allowed them to enter it and they were absolutely buffled about the alleys medieval appearance in the heart of London.

Seemingly daydreaming she got caught offhand by the sudden appearance of food on her table, her stomach grumbled and quickly she began eating. "Hey Orla im Violet nice to meet you, havent had the pleasure in the train yet. Say can you tell me a little about the Hufflepuffs? Also do you know where our dorm is? Im so excited to explore the castle, I have heard rumors of real ghosts... AHHH" Suddenly a fat monk appeared next to her seemingly nodding with a hump of beer in his hands. "Its always a pleasure to meet the newest house students." he explained and took a large gulp of his pitcher.

Violet watched the monk with a morbid fascination as the beer splashed through his body and magically dissapeared after it created a small puddle on the ground.

Celeste ate quietly as her new house mates talked and made friends. Those around her seemed to enjoy themselves as food was passed around and pumpkin juice was poured. The feeling of loneliness that had started to sink in on the train had now found a home in her heart like a piece of sticky caramel that gets stuck behind one’s teeth. While the noise was no different from the family dinners at home, the feeling was very different. There was no older brother loading up her plate when there seemed to be space on her plate.

Now the young witch sat at the long wooden table all alone amongst the crowd. While others enjoyed the familiar warmth of the welcoming feast, Celeste began to fear that her shyness would led to a friendless year. she knew that once classes started that she’d be forced to talk to her classmates and find a friend or two, she knew that the dorm room would also provide the perfect chance to make friends. But none of that matter at that very moment.

It’s not like she didn’t want to make friends, when ever she tried to start up a conversation with those around her, they were either in a conversation or had their month stuffed with food. By the time the empty serving plates were replaced with copious amounts of sweats and chocolate, Celeste had given up on making friends at the feast and would try again once she made it back to her dorm.

Chess sighed, before feeling the hat weighed off her as she stood up and gave a small giddy smile, strolling towards her house table as she sat on a space, excited for her new year here.

It was a wide and long table, all with cutlery clean and void of the soon to be a feast, the girl couldn't help but be enthusiastic, bopping her head from side to side, watching her other peers be chosen for other houses, waving them good luck with a big smile. Just like her house, the 11-year-old was eager to learn and explore much as of the others, her eyes always shining in awe whenever a spirit was phased by her or her table before looking at the last student who stood and left, the hat declaring their last home.

Then suddenly the table lit up with a bounty of food, warm and comforting, it filled every inch of the table as she looked in wonder and awe of how each banner of the houses looked in the grand hall till her eyes could watch everyone eat their meals to their content, the days of fall and the start of their school journey all starting in this very hall, new students from every walks of life.

In such a way, it made her gleam in joy for what it's going to be.

"Today is a good day" She smiled to herself before digging in to eat and enjoy her meal towards the welcoming of students within the new year.
The Hufflepuff Table 2021-2022
He had come over to the Hufflepuff table after the sorting, sitting down. Starting to eat after the feast had begun eating a few different things but keeping to himself for the most part unless talked to by someone. Though he had sat near a boy he had met before named Cody, so he waved at him a little while he was eating. But didn't want to bother him too much. Looking around the table a bit not sure who to talk to. So he concentrated on his food, eating some ham having a love for ham and chicken a lot of the time.

Also noticing the fat friar looking over at him curiously for a moment when he noticed him. Though he didn't pay him much attention from not being sure about him, also not being interested too much in him. Though he had read about him in Hogwarts A History. He did seem fascinating a bit he was more interested in his food. Working on some mashed potatoes and gravy eating it with white gravy not brown. Not usually liking the brown as much so he always ate it plain or with white.

He was really waiting for dessert though wanting some pudding, chocolate pudding a good helping of chocolate pudding that or chocolate mousse. Anything chocolate would be good for him since he loves chocolate anything mostly. Finally seeing the deserts coming up getting some chocolate putting and chocolate mousse too, deciding to have both since his mum wasn't around to chide him about doing that and he wanted to have both things.

Knowing she would nag him if she saw him do what he had just done. But he didn't care since she wasn't here to do that. He was eating the desserts enjoying himself immensely the desserts being so good he thinks. The house elves doing a good job on the food he thinks wishing he could say something to them about it but he can't apparently now. Maybe later when if he went to the kitchens, he could say something to them. Suddenly seeing his plate clear of food as if nothing had been there at all finding that amazing when it does that.
