Once again, the Ravenclaw team had decided to concentrate on Katrina, determined to render her unable to cast. Pericles pointed his wand towards the girl, the disarming charm easily hitting her since she could not see anything; Katrina's wand flew out of her hand, making it impossible for her to cast any time soon. Thomas targeted Katrina as well, the Incendio Duo flying right towards Katrina who, even with the blindfold, managed to dodge the powerful spell.

After her partner had successfully dodged the fire spell, Adeline opted for helping Katrina, and easily untied the blindfold from her eyes. This way Katrina was able to see once again, and searching for her wand should have been easier than with her eyes covered.

Even though this round din't bring any physical damage to the players, it was still full of events, and Lydia observed closely the duellists as they decided their next move.

Spectator Thread

He could feel it: that tension in which nerves peak before plateauing, when worries and excitement break through to a clean hum of pure adrenaline. His mind was sharp, eyes wide and clear, movements deft and fluid. Pericles had been through enough duels to compartmentalize any guilt he had for flinging magic at his peers. They were duellists, after all, and they had a part to play. He would shake hands and clap backs once all was said and done, be it here or in the hospital ward. Though, the focused persona cracked come the taunts from Thomas; Peri tried to follow his lead and relax, if only a little. "Tom," he "chastised" halfheartedly to the side, the start of a smile at the edge of his mouth, "don't tease. They are liable to set you on fire for that." A vaguely awkward, apologetic look once more at Adeline, who reminded them she was dangerous and... worthy of being slapped with spells? They would come around to her, eventually. For the time being, she posed a threat through coordination, removing Katrina's blindfold and therefore undoing their work of keeping the fourth-year from unleashing on them. That wouldn't do. The Ravenclaw thought fast, yanking the wand from her hand with a hastily hissed "Expelliarmus!" This bought them just a little more time, but not enough to afford distraction.

Addie sprinted over to Katrina, taking shelter behind her teammate as she reached up and began untying the blindfold.

“We can do this,” she whispered some words of encouragement as the knot came undone. Addie saw two more spells headed their direction and ducked down, but once again, neither of them seemed to be aimed for her.

Now, this is just insulting, she thought angrily as she moved away from her teammate once more and returned to her ready stance. The jittery energy she had felt at the beginning of the match had now transformed into a fiery determination that burned inside of her.

Glancing back over at her partner, it was only then that Addie realized the effects of her opponents’ spells: Katrina no longer had a wand.

"Incendio Duo!" Thomas called, profoundly irritated that his spell not only missed, but it seemed the Gryffindors were taking an abundance of caution. Katrina was blindfolded for crying out loud! When Thomas dodged spells with his vision obscured, it was impressive and a clear display of immense skill... But when others did it, specifically to the spells he was casting!? Preposterous, outrageous, every single adjective that was in the Thesaurus entries for such words flew through his mind. Surely, there was no dramatic irony at the moment.

As the fourth year's wand went sailing out of her hand, Thomas could at least take solace in that. Still, he dismissed his partner's scolding with a grin. "It'd almost be unsportsmanlike not to be a pest. I mean, if I wasn't, I wouldn't be giving it my all," he protested, scoffing at the notion that he could be set ablaze for his (lack of) tact. In the eyes of the Ravenclaw, a well-timed fire-making spell to shut up a particularly noisy adversary was the perfect reward, surely he ought to provide the opportunity to his peers! Or at least, such is what Thomas would claim if pressed further.

Not seeing was aggravating to say the least. Katrina had no clue wether or not the spells were still targeted at her, which she assumed they were. But as she had just established, she wasn’t the best at dodging even when she could see. Almost on cue, her wand went flying out of her hand.

In a whim, Katrina jumped to the side. Apparently the whim was at least slightly founded by something subconsciously because a flare of heat passed her side.

“Adeline? A hand?” It wasn’t her first option to ask for help removing the blindfold, but there was too much going on. Katrina knew she couldn’t spend all of her energy trying to dodge and also get the blindfold off so she called on her dueling mate.

Katrina gave a small smile to Adeline at her words of encouragement as the blindfold slipped off. Back in the game, Katrina sent a look at her opponents side, almost taunting that was the best they could do.

With Katrina temporarily without her wand, the two Ravenclaw had decided to focus their attention on Adeline; just moments before the young girl had expressed her frustration as their opponents had just focused on Katrina, but now that they had switched their attention on her, Lydia thought she might regret that soon, as Pericles aimed his wand at her and the flames left the tip of his wand. Adeline tried to avoid the flames, but she didn't succeed and her robes would catch fire, dealing quite some damage. Wincing as she remembered how much Incendio hurt, Lydia kept a close eye on Adeline as Thomas also cast his Rictumsempra at her; this time the Gryffindor girl managed to avoid the spell, easily dodging it .

Adeline decided to try and repay Pericles for the Incendio Duo, and aimed her wand towards the upperclassman; her Flipendo was successfully cast, but Pericles easily dodged it and moved out of the way. While the spells were being cast, Katrina had managed to locate her wand, and picked it up.

Spectator Thread

Propriety was woven into every aspect of a pureblood upbringing. Pericles had been taught sportsmanship in fencing, but Hogwarts had opened his mind to other lifestyles, and he genuinely took Tom's justification with a grain of salt. Doing his best involved taunting? It made sense, the more he mulled it over, and Peri pondered out loud "I never thought of it that way...." Intriguing. Oh! But there was a duel to be had. Katrina was reaching for her wand, and Pericles picked a different target, aiming instead for the fire-headed Gryffindor who had taken offense to the lack of spells intended for her. Evidently he aimed to rectify that insult. "Incendio" was uttered with an emphasis on intensity, achieving a Duo, and he sidestepped the retaliatory Flipendo before considering the flames with a detached sense of accomplishment. But a thought tickled the back of his brain- she was a new duellist. Was this her first time being set ablaze? It was a scary thing, at least, the first few times. In proper Pericles fashion, he tried to help her with the burns he'd just inflicted, calling awkwardly to Adeline across the way: "It hurts less if you focus on your breathing, rather than the burns."

"Missed again," he complained, grumbling under his breath in his typical fashion. Temper flaring, Thomas always blamed his wand for these sorts of occurrences—the only way he could keep himself from remembering countless past blundered on his part. At least he hadn’t yet been set on fire, that was hardly ever fun, though considering how often it happened the young wizard couldn’t help but feel like it was par for the course.

Watching as Pericles offered their opponent some semblance of advice, Thomas remained silent. He reminded Tom of Callie in a way, they were admirable and level-headed, rarely involved in the sorts of banter (though that descriptor might’ve been a stretch, sometimes Thomas was downright nasty) that the other boy was. Maybe his stance on the matter was misplaced…? He seemed to be the minority in his rather limited sample size, at least.

Regardless, that was something to ponder another time. Rather than sending a witty retort to his opponents yet again, he resigned himself to quiet focus. Perhaps all of the trash talk got Tom unfocused—it was surely possible, as much as he wished to be the sort of duelist who could offer both clever insults and perfectly aimed spells with ease he was just as new to the sport as most.

“Flipendo!” Adeline called out, choosing a different target from the one she had thrown a spell at earlier. She watched with excitement as the jinx erupted from her wand and hurtled toward her target, but her eyes widened in a brief moment of panic as flames blocked her vision.

As quickly as she could, Addie sidestepped to the right, but a white-hot burning on her left side informed her that she had been too slow. Addie clenched her teeth, doing her very best to show no outward signs of pain or embarrassment. From the other side of the stage, she could hear her opponent calling out a bit of advice. Whether his words were genuine or mocking, she was unsure, but either way, she decided to ignore him. How pathetic would you have to be to need help from the person who just attacked you?

Another wave of searing pain hit Addie, causing her to wince slightly. More determined than ever, Addie raised her wand before her once more, and prepared for the next round of spells.

Action: Soon to be owled!

The duel was moving fast and Katrina was still on top of it for the moment. At last she had an opportunity to recompose herself as her opponents switched targets. The only good of that repose is that her dueling partner was now under full attack.

Katrina nervously spun her wand, mind racing as she thought of what next to do. Adeline got hit full force by a wall of fire despite her attempt at dodging. At least the former spell had missed.”Hang in there” Katrina offered reassurance hopefully only loud enough for Adeline to hear.

Alright, time to turn this duel around.
