Santario’s eyes caught the one person that could pull her away from the thrall of the performance. Thomas Lestrange. Worry flooded her as she caught the look in her best friend’s eyes, a reckless abandon that whispered in her ears that if he knew what she was, he’d kill her too. It was for the better if he did. Song… Right singing.

The performance went on to attempt distraction; her eyes caught Orion Lecuyèr and Vladimir watching over them as they put on their show. If only they knew she would not be standing here right now. She didn’t deserve to be standing here, a hidden disaster among Pericles’s perfectly constructed routine. As the second song started, she came forward to start it.

“ I put a spell on you
And now you're mine
You can't stop the things I do
I ain't lyin'”

Stepping back to fall in line with the Choir Rose would be the next to step forward, followed by unison singing and some of them setting off-colored charms, Santario, in particular, the purple firecrackers. If there was one thing that was good about this song, it had her cherrywood wand in hand already, meaning when it was done, she would be able to try and make a quick break to join the fray.

Her eyes kept going to him as often as they could, trying to keep tabs on him from as far away as she was, but she wasn’t sure she could trust them considering she saw a bear. Just finish the performance; he can hold his own. Believe in him. And the show would go on up to the unbearable moment when Santario could finally exit backstage.

Once backstage, she would gently set down her toad, rip off the robes she was wearing over her cherry blossom dress. Gathering up her skits she would promptly start running past the rest of the ball goers including Vladimir and Orion. “THOMAS! I am coming!” Just hold on. She did not know why he was fighting who it looked like he was fighting, but it didn’t matter. She couldn’t fail him too; she’d rather die. And you will. The moment he finds out about your betrayal. That look on his face will be directed at you next. But, it didn’t matter she would attack anyone she perceived as his enemy.

Simon was worried maybe she didn't feel quite right, that perhaps his friend was lightheaded or dizzy. Maybe something had happened in those last three minutes that had caused her to be a little flustered. He glanced over to Haley and the two exchanged a concern look.

Maybe too it was the fact that Emily said she needed some air and they were outside...at the Quidditch Pitch. Fresh air was all around them, even if some of it was still hazy from the sparks sent up from the Frog Choir's performance. "Okay, but if you need me, you come get me, alright? Haley and I are going to dance and then we should all get a drink. Besides, Em here's been wanting to meet you, Hales," he smiled, hoping that everything was going to be alright.

With Emily masking her emotions, Simon thought it was okay to step away for the moment. His hand took Haley's and he squeezed it softly, something he always did whenever they first went to hold hands. He then walked with her back to where others were dancing. "I had been giving Em dance lessons so she'd come to this. It was only fitting that I shared a dance with her," he hoped that would explain some of it. "You know I actually knew Emily back in London? I'm friends with her brother."

Once they were now at the 'dance floor,' Simon brought his one hand around Haley's waist and stepped closer to bring the gap between them much smaller. He missed this closeness between he and his girl. "I'm so very glad you came," he whispered to her.

Ah, it was the best thing in the world, well, according to Cody, it wasn't like he was here at Hogwarts for the entire year. The time he arrived at the Fall Ball was when they started singing a variation of the Hocus Pocus song, but Cody was immersed. The pyrotechnics included, really got Cody hooked with it. Of course, Cody could've withdrew his wand and cast either Periculum or Verdimillious alongside them, but Cody didn't want to at the moment, maybe later.

He saw a second year, male, Hufflepuff. Perhaps Cody should make a form of an ally with Simon. Not one of friends, but he wouldn't go on the enemies list.

But Cody never actually met Simon.

"Hey... blondie. kinda... what ARE you?" Cody would ask, not intending to be rude with his question. "I'm a Part Goblin, one of the few that will actually admit who they are."

The young boy, sizing up to three foot ten inches in his first year, had made quite an impact once he arrived at Hogwarts. He was known for his cruel side of chaos, and not Page's (Juniper) calm side of chaos.

"Listen... bro. I'd like to get to know you, perhaps even understand you beyond a reasonable doubt. Would you allow me to do that?"

The Quidditch Pitch had been magically changed into something so grand as the Fall Ball. It was as if they were not even at the original field, it looked so different. It felt like such a different environment, and as Bloom walked on the grass, she could just feel a sense of relaxation and fun.

The best part was the Frog Choir singing Halloween-related songs in the background. It was the smashing hit, "I Put a Spell on You" that beamed in harmony. Bloom watched them and saw a couple faces that looked familiar like Santario and Pericles. They were mesmerizing and it wasn't because of their choice of song. They were actually engaging and it was hard to turn away.

It wasn't until the end that fireworks from different, various spells happened and Bloom couldn't help but the smile. It was absolutely amazing, in her opinion. Although she couldn't sing, she wished to be in the Frog Choir. Clapping at the end, Bloom tore her attention away from the choir and looked around to who was there. She saw some friendly faces and then saw a face that she couldn't tear away from: Vladimir Athanatos.

Bloom walked up to him, not necessarily wanting to stay and chat and formed a smile on her face. "Glad you're looking a lot better," she said, referring to the incident over the summer where she, Professor Iwasaki and a couple other Ravenclaw's were healing him back to health. She waved bye at him and walked away to see if there were any familiar friends.

As she looked, she found someone who was just entering the ball with another friend of theirs who did not look familiar.

Bloom walked up to Howard with a smile. "Oh good, a friendly face!" she said, excitedly. Bloom smiled at his friend to welcome them as well. "Did you guys see the Frog Choir perform? They are so amazing!"

Leaving @Cody Stevenson to spend time with his date @Haley Rose

Simon smiled to Haley and then heard a voice from behind him and he glanced over to see someone he recognized as another Hufflepuff there nearby. "Hey..." he said a little hesitantly because he began with WHAT was he. A student at Hogwarts. A musician at heart. A faithful Christian. A boyfriend trying to dance with his girlfriend. What more did he want? Did he recognize that dhampir traits and if so, Simon didn't totally mind. I mean, he was in the presence of Haley but she already knew his 'secret' so to speak.

Why the boy felt that now was a good time to approach him was beyond him, and saying he wanted to know him beyond a reasonable doubt. Wasn't that legal standards talk? It made him think back to those law shows his aunt would sometimes watch on television back in London. "Can't say I'm guilty of anything for any legal burden to be removed, but getting to know you, sure. Just uh, maybe sometime in the Common Room. I'm a little preoccupied with my beautiful date. No, preoccupied isn't the word. Captivated. I'm completely and utterly captivated by Ms. Rose and we're going to share a dance and the evening. Catch you later, bro," Simon used the expression the boy had and gave him a small smile before leading Haley further in to where the others were dancing so that they could finally begin to share their dance.

Haley didn't feel good about leaving Emily alone like that. Something wasn't right and it was more than public. Well, really, fresh air? They were outside, surrounded by fresh air but Haley didn't question it. She didn't really know Emily and could understand if she didn't want to open up to her. A little uncertainly, Haley nodded her approval to Simon before she also gave Emily a smile, combined with a look of concern, and entered the dance floor with Simon. On the way, she turned around once more, one last look, just to be sure. But Haley didn't know what to look for, what was she trying to make sure of? That Emily was getting enough fresh air? Or maybe a clue as to what was really going on right now.

Lost in her thoughts, Simon brought her back to reality. "Mm?" she looked at him in confusion. "Oh dance lessons. Sounds nice." Replied Haley, not wanting to think about it any further at the same time. For one thing, her thoughts were still with Emily and for another, she didn't want to imagine how Simon had spent the last few months. The months Haley had spent at a distance. She didn't want to imagine any scenarios or even think about whether he had a temporary replacement for her. Those were things she didn't trust him with. Or was it more the fact that she could have understood if he had? If he had found a girlfriend in someone else, in someone like Emily?

Haley tried to put her muddled thoughts out of her head and it was easier when they finally arrived on the dance floor and Simon put his hand on her waist. The two of them were suddenly very close and all she could think about was Simon and her. How long it had been since the two of them had been this close and danced together. "Me too." Haley spoke honestly and smiled at him. As much as it had been a challenge for her to come here today, she was even more grateful now that she had.

But the moment she was enjoying to the fullest was quickly over when an unfamiliar boy interrupted them. With a furrowed brow, she looked back and forth between Simon and the somehow rude boy. Did he just call him Blondie? "Excuse you?" it came from Haley, annoyed and puzzled at the same time, but before she could have continued, Simon took over. She couldn't help but smile sheepishly when Simon spoke about her. Not only was he the charming boyfriend towards her, but he had solved this situation a lot more charmingly than Haley probably had. The redhead could have a hot head, there was no question about that.

Haley enjoyed the dance with Simon, she laughed, forgot and finally had some real fun. It was as if this evening would allow the possibilities to really forget, for a few hours at least, and give the new beginning a strong boost. But it was a Hogwarts Ball and that meant drama. Whether it was yourself or the students around you, something always happened at these balls. Students hitting and yelling at each other, students having a panic attack or even students getting married. As much as Haley would want to assume that nothing like that would happen today, she knew that wouldn't be the case and there was still the matter of Emily that continued to linger in the back of her mind.

"I could dance with you all night." she started, smiling at Simon, "but should we, or rather you, check on Emily again?" of course there was a but. As much as Haley would have liked to be selfish, she couldn't. That side belonged to the Haley she wanted to be. She couldn't just ignore the fact that someone was obviously not well, even if she herself was now taking a back seat to it.

The first song ended, Henry noticed exactly how many people were watching the performance now. He took a breath, hiding his emotions and nerves behind the 'barrier'. Determined to get through the next song without failing or forthcoming to stage fright so he could leave and meet up with Alexa far from the ball.

The third year moved his blue eyes to the exit beforr at the coward, pulling out his mayhaw wand from a inner pocket of his jacket as he held it underneath the pillow that Ulysses is sitting on comfortably since magic would be a key element in the second song.

Ulysses hummed low, similar to a base as the second song started with a solo from Santario then Rose before the group sang the chorus, Henry choose to sing lower then the rest for the chorus as he watched three members cast the firecracker or spark charm into the air.

The chorus finished then Pericles said his piece before Serena did her solo, the rest of them singing the chorus that appeared during it. Henry sang in a low whisper to increase the affects as he watched her finish then step forward for his own solo.

"Your wretched little lives
Have all been cursed
'Cause of all the wixes working
We're the worst."

Holding the last note out for just a bit longer before stepping back into the line with the others, joining in for the chorus with the others then casting the green sparks charm with the other two.

Starlee had her solo then Pericles them the ending chorus, Henry never got the ending lines and found them strange as he sang them. The performance ended with a collection of spark charms and firecracker spells, Henry gave his bow with the others then slipped back stage.

Placing the pillow back where he got it and smiling at Ulysses as he placed him with the other amphibians. Taking up the robe, his clothes were exactly what one would expect for a ball but he was never planning on staying anyway.

" Nice spell casting, June," Henry spoke to Juniper with a soft smile before turning toward Starlee as he spoke " you did shine like a star, Star," smiling toward the girl when another voice caught his ears.

Turning, his blue gaze landed on Santario Martin rushing out and calling those another. He couldn't tell but guessing my her words, it wasn't good. The teen watched for a moment, feeling his orange feline brush aginest his legs to signal he was by his side again.

The third year didn't think it was in his place to help or follow his captain but couldn't move his mind off the lingering feeling that if something was wrong. Biting his lower lip, not moving his eyes as he stared in the direction that the girl went.

Henry turned his head, eyes landing on Rose as he spoke " brilliant job out there, really you were great," offering a soft smile toward the girl before continuing " watch Loki for me for a moment, I'll be back promise," the teen nodded toward the girl as Loki brushed aginest the girl legs and if she allowed him to, Loki would climb up Rose's legs and sit on her right shoulder. If she didn't allow him to, then Loki would sit besides the girl.

Henry thought his feline and sister were in safe hands with each other as he carefully follow the captain toward the entrance/exit of the ball to investigate because looking around have never caused trouble before.... right?

The second part of the Frog Choir show started soon after the conclusion of their first song- as expected. Behind the scenes, Xailah had been quietly rehearsing the section of the show she was to take part in. She would make a very small appearance, and then cast Violaceous after Santario's spell at the end. Or was it before? Hm. No. Definitely after. Would it make much of a difference if she did cast before, rather than after? Xailah supposed not. The audience had no idea about what had been rehearsed; though a change in order was bound to receive sour looks from other choir members. She had no intention of being the one to ruin the show. Xailah thought she was going to be more anxious when she joined the stage with her fellow singers and handlers, but was pleased to find that was not the case- even when she saw who was in the small crowd. Her sights pierced through the thin veil of fog; three faces were considered- two professors, and one Vladimir. When the song dwindled to it's end, Xailah raised her wand and cast her spell. Dancing, purple sparks launched themselves into the air to join their other colorful and sparky brethren. The singers then retreated to the place they had come from- behind the stage. The show was a success. No sudden interruptions. No accidental fires, due to hiccups in pyrotechnics. Everything went as rehearsed. In conclusion, all was well- until Santario bolted, shouting past ball-goers. "Uh oh."

There was urgency in the snakes voice. Something was going wrong over yonder. Usually ruckus could be ignored. More often than not, fights this early were usually a product of some spat between jealous obsessors, or maybe a scuffle between two girls who "accidentally" spilt punch all over each other. But when you hear someone shout in the way Santario had, you simply can't ignore the cry. What could have possibly summoned such a strained, woeful sound? And from the throat of an (assumed) human being no less? A threat. More specifically, the looming threat of something loved being harmed. Santario always came across as being a quiet, and calm girl; who didn't act unless she had a good reason to. Something was very clearly wrong.

The noise that projected itself from Santarios powerful chest; struck Xailah, like a metal rod hitting still water. It caused her hair to squirm, and her skin cover itself in gooseflesh. It was a wake-up- a call to action. It pealed through her hollowed being, reverberating. Resonating. Loss resonated with Xailah greatly, especially the loss of something cared for. She needed to investigate. Seek the cause of sudden distress. Eliminate it if she had to, so it would not reach what she considered hers. It wouldn't register then, she was too caught up in contemplation, but she would possibly be leaving behind the one thing at the ball, that she cared for, and needed to stay with. Assuming he wouldn't try to stop or follow after. He likely wouldn't, seeing that he had other obligations. At the last ball he had teased, claimed he had trouble keeping up with his metamorph counterpart. Truthfully- honestly, Xailah thought it was a partial truth. More so, she sometimes believed he didn't want to try and keep up. An intrusive thought. Invasive, irrelevant- it was something to mull over at another time. Mind preoccupied, Xailah would say something brief to Pericles, she would share the location she intended to visit, "I'm going to the festival". Her tone was hasty and hushed, maybe he wouldn't hear; but if he did, he would at least have an idea of where she was, if he desired to seek her out later in the night. Cultish robes were quickly abandoned, to reveal the costumes beneath. Xailah was off once the draping, black fabric was shed from her tall and dainty form. She couldn't be bothered with niceties, or polite farewells. The hunt was afoot. There wasn't any time for that nonsense.

Alec was struggling with an semi-external battle as they walked into the tent on the quidditch pitch. He had to try to keep walking with Hana and not get distracted by everything within it. Because it was already happening and he needed to keep his feet moving. If he stopped now he was pretty sure he wouldn't keep going, and would lose Hana. So while walking in Alec was taking bigger strides to make up for the time he took, standing still for quick glances to get good looks around. The first thing he was thinking of was how much work this must have taken. They had used magic to the best of their ability but it had taken a lot to set up for the blossom ball. Especially the trials.

Alec settled down from the staring at the decorations craze, to focus and Hana spoke. He straightened his posture from his more relaxed one to look serious when he heard the word business out of Hana. Alec nodded, “Yeah, I know, I know-” Even when trying to look serious, this time he let himself smile. “I don't think I'll wander that far anyway,” With the tendency to get lost in crowds or feel very overwhelmed very quickly he preferred sticking off to the side. Therefore he couldn't get far even if he was wandering off, there weren't very many off the side places... Alec's left hand had fallen to his messenger bag, messing with the wolf pin. For some reason though Alec had the odd feeling Hana would be the one wandering off. But not alone, with Alec. Tonight felt like the type of night where he was going to be dragged around by somebody else. He wasn't sure if he hated it or not, he absolutely despised being told what to do, but he was in a tight situation to begin with. Listening to somebody else was likely to see him through.

“Does that mean every time you spot Katherine your just going to tug on my sleeves?” Alec looked up at Hana, concerned, “Hana, er-, I don't know if my sleeves would be able to handle that much tugging-”He was worried of two things, either his sleeve gets really stretched out(very unlikely but it could happen!), or it gets completely torn off. Both were bad things. Sure Alec could maybe sew it back together if it was ripped off. It would only make it worse. He wouldn't know what to do if it get stretched out. Considering this one out of the few things he'd brought for formal wear that year, he wasn't interested in having it wrecked. It meant he it put him on nice shirt closer to having to owl family about the fact that Alec was incapable of taking care of nice things.

He was very capable. Jackie was still alive wasn't she? Okay that was a little dark... Living creatures weren't comparable to items. But that's besides the point! Anything he usually messed up happened on purpose anyway. Like the journal so... Hmph-! “And yes of course I remember the last one... How could I not?” It's the most terrible horrid thing ever and Alec didn't even ever want to think of the word romantic let alone a romantic goodbye.

The type of people who got all feely for each other like that made him uncomfortable. Part of it was the fact that he didn't understand any of it. Or how there was another way of liking someone besides liking them generally as a person and being friends. It was all just weird, the less he thought about it, the better. “Nothing against you, but I still think it's stupid- What thirteen-year-old actually does a romantic goodbye, and out of everybody that does it, what's the chance that any of them actually means it? It just- ergh-” Alec shook his head, followed by a laugh because of what he felt like he had to say next, “don't answer that by the way.” Hana seemed to know a bit about things. Therefore Hana probably knew someone. Alec didn't want to know who. It was better off that way. It was fine whatever people chose to do in their free time, Alec just didn't understand the expectation...

Alec was set on his thoughts, even as the croaking began and a performance started. Hana's voice took him out of it, glancing up to see what Hana was talking about when he was calling something cute. “Huh? Oh- Yeah.” He looked over, with sudden interest. He didn't think it was cute, but he didn't have any better words either. “Music in general, or this? I've never heard this one before...” Alec hadn't heard a lot of songs before he'd come to Hogwarts. At least he was finally setting his differences aside with classical music though. After not having any choice besides it, listening to it had given him headaches, and then there was free reign of music at last. He was finally able to make peace with it. There were some pretty pieces of classical music he'd even begun to admire.

“You know, If your ability to tolerate me doesn't disappear after the ball. I'd invite you to listen to me play piano. I haven't gotten any feedback yet, you don't need to know anything. I just need to make sure I don't sound horrid.” He didn't think he did, but his head was carried away with the notes, and he wasn't able to actually listen. He hadn't been able to figure out who to ask. His being desperate hopefully wouldn't lead to him paying off some poor first year for feedback(who would probably lie anyway), or going to Flash, he wasn't sure about either of those options. But, if feedback was needed he was going to find someone to give it on way or another. Besides Flash had technically agreed to anything sort of feedback giving. Even though it was really only meant in a certain context.

“I could bring snacks. Or really anything that convinces you to give me some sort of feedback...”

The conversation would switch gears eventually. Hana asking if Alec was hungry or parched, Alec didn't get an answer in quick enough and Hana went on. Asking Alec what he wanted to do, or if there was someone he wanted too see. He wanted to interrupt the other, and ask Hanako the same thing, he preferred it that they did whatever he wanted to do instead. He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, he was told he couldn't. Alec stared wide-eyed his mouth still partially open. He watched, as Hanako pointed at the pumpkin. But still didn't respond. It seemed Hana had somehow broken Alec. Who was still just staring at Hanako, as he went on about Alec not leaving.

Alec stared a few seconds longer before blinking. He had to take a bit recuperate. How did Hana know Alec was going to ask that?!?! Why wasn't he allowed too?! He narrowed his eyes and huffed(alec being sort of mad but not really) at Hana. Putting off the leaving comment. It had to be obvious that wasn't what his huff was about since Alec still seemed to look broken and was just staring at Hana while he said that. This wasn't fair though. Hanako was doing it on purpose. Meanie. Alec usually just stayed in a corner the whole time and watched everybody else. He didn't want to be everybody else. If he was going to be everybody else this time the least Hana could do was not make Alec choose. Alec didn't know what he was supposed to do. He made that clear to Hanako which kept changing expressions because Alec wasn't sure how to go about this! And it had to be incredibly confusing to watch Alec's eyebrows like that as well. Well, it was Hana's fault. Maybe Hana would notice as well, Alec getting more rigid at the use of his last name.

“I-” Alec's eyebrows were still a confusion to every living creature alive. “-er-um-” Alec looked down at his feet. Maybe Alec was still slightly broken from that whole thing. What were words at this point anyway? Surely not the means of communication that kept whole societies from collapsing. “Hana... ” Alec whispered, his voice slightly whiny, still on the don't make me choose, and I'm just going to assume this is enough of using my words to let you know I don't want too. Maybe he needed to work on those communication skills... Actually he'd proved he'd needed too before. The many of plentiful measures people had to take to be able to get important things out of him at times. This wasn't that important, Alec was being a bit dramatic, still though.. There was something else besides the decision-making. “Can you just pick?” With how distressed Alec looked over just having to choose it seemed as it Hanako was going to be left to do the decision-making.

Alec took in a deep breath, before looking back up, making his face read blank. He didn't want to deal with anything to do with what he was about to say. So if he looked like he didn't care but made the other thing clear, it would be fine...? Hopefully, the last thing Alec needed was- “also don't use Mason to refer to me, yeah?” After speaking he looked away again, and took a deep breath. This was going to be a very long night. Alec accidentally introduced his full name by habit to Hanako, immediate regret the second it happened though he hadn't let it show. He didn't really want people knowing his last name, much less using it for him.

Certain events had always been leading to Alec wanting to disown the last name but the summer had cut it for him. Was the name Alec not enough? Next time he'd just introduce himself Alec jingleheimersmitchz instead. Actually, maybe something more reasonable to say, he'd have to think of what... Honestly he would probably be able to get away with borrowing AJ's(they were practically doppelgangers) name for a bit if he really wanted. He was trying to pretend he didn't have a family other then Jackie and Nina. It wasn't useful when he was getting constant reminders. It frustrated him to his core. He wasn't going to voice the reasons but hopefully what he'd said already was enough.

Fall Ball 2021 Fall Ball
Juniper rubbed her hands together as the show was about to start. Some students had entered to watch, but Juniper assumed the rest were in the Samhain festival. And though she will never admit it, a part of her was looking for Cody Stevenson. She didn't know why but it felt like a part of her was really missing right now. As mushy gushy as that sounds she wasn't in love with him or anything. But he WAS her first best friend in this strange magical world who actually understood her chaotic self. She felt a small pang in her heart as she realized Cody was NOT here.

She sighed and turned away, but looked again and this time saw him. She hated herself for feeling just a little tiny bit happy that he was here. Then she remembered why she was mad at him. Right. She glared and walked backstage watching the first song. She knew the original song from that movie and she sang along to herself. She loved Henry's part and how he sang it. It was just... amazing. She held her wand in her hand ready for the next song where she would be on stage.

The first song ended and she moved quickly onto the stage feeling very happy to be up here. She got a closer look of the frogs singing, too. She nodded her head gently to the song and when the time came. "Verdimillious" She whispered. The lights came and it was super duper cool if she said so herself. But there was another part. She waited for the next signal, where she whispered the spell again at the end.

It was like fireworks which were really colorful. June looked up in awe of the lights. When the show was over, Henry walked over to her quickly. "Thanks! Your singing was... oh my jelly bean! I can't even! I got chills!" She beamed at Henry before walking away.

She looked around avoiding Cody. She heard someone yell that she was coming... was something going on? June looked around very confused. Was Gideon at the fall ball or the Festival? She glanced around but didn't see him. She DID see Emily, her friend. She waved. "Hi, Ems!" That was it, though.

She headed to the Samhain festival to look for the date she paid to come with her.
