Searching Within the Pages
Ready to meet with @Ben Coletti
His last class for the day was Transfigurations and Simon was having trouble catching on by the end of the lesson. The idea of Transfiguration was nice enough, to learn it when you needed it, but so much mathematical and technical aspects went into the craft that he often found himself rather dozing off - especially by the final ten minutes.
He wrote down the assignment, knowing he would most likely need to ask a friend about some of the details surrounding it, and then finally was granted his freedom with his classmates. Quickly Simon packed up his bag and made his way off to the school library. He had to meet Ben! Today they were officially going to begin their search for some sort of information about Ben's father.
It seemed that he had arrived before Ben and so Simon went ahead and got a few basic books on Ancient Ruins. Ben had found a drawing upon the walls in the Boys' Lavatory that had an odd symbol. It was autographed by Ben's father and he wished to know more about what he saw. With no way of asking his father, the two boys would begin a search for some truth. Would they find it? Simon hoped so, for his new friend's sake.
When Ben would arrive, he would find Simon at one of the large wooden tables near the middle of the Library, already scanning through his second book on Ancient Ruins.

Searching Within the Pages
Ben was tired of Transfiguration. It made absolutely no sense to him and he was still trying to figure out how all of it worked. Why on earth would you want to change something from one thing to another? He could understand needing to make something show up, or make something disappear. But changing something into something else? Especially animals? He just couldn’t make it make sense.
He walked into the library, having planned to meet Simon. He needed truth, that much was for sure. Would they find the answers in a bunch of old stuffy books? He didn’t know… But it was better than not knowing anything, right? Plus, he was still curious about his new friend and the identity that he revealed. He wanted to know more about all of that as well, and he hoped his friend didn’t mind if he had more questions.
Ben walked over towards his friend sitting at the large table. “Hey Simon,” he said quietly as he went to sit next to him. “That was a confusing class… please tell me you’ve found something useful here?” he asked hopefully. He wasn’t sure if they would find anything about the logo there…
“By the way,” Ben said as he set a newspaper on the table. “I got out the Daily Prophet issue from when my dad was arrested… on my birthday.” The date and everything showed on the paper and there was a picture of his father’s mugshot going into Azkaban. “That’s my dad,” he sighed, looking down at the table. “I mean… Uncle Mark is cool and all and I love living with him and Aunt Tanya but…” He shook his head and looked down at his father again. “He was a good man… IS a good man. I just don’t get this. And look…” he said, pointing to the article. “Arrested for performing one of the unforgivable curses. It doesn’t even say WHICH curse!”
He was definitely getting frustrated, and kind of wanted to throw the paper across the room, but he tried to hold his anger in. When he got too angry, things broke around him. He couldn’t let that happen in a library.

Trying to find answers with @Ben Coletti
Simon skimmed over the article. He read every word but rather quickly. Maybe it was thanks to his early primary teachers for being so great at teaching reading or maybe it was the extensive practice he got late at night when others were sleeping and he had more time on his hands to devote to some of the literary classics - but Simon Kincaid was always a rather fast reader.
"It doesn't say which one and it also doesn't say why. I mean, I know they're unforgivable and you're not supposed to use them - but that's what makes them pretty serious, you know? Maybe he was using it for a reason that was pretty serious. Maybe if he really did cast one, he was using it because he absolutely needed to. Maybe it was in self defense."
That would be something a newspaper would leave out for the drama. He thought of the school's newspaper and how it was all about stirring drama. In fact, he wasn't sure how much fact was within the Hogwarts Headliner anymore. He looked up at the title of this paper, The Daily Prophet. He knew it was one of the most popular with Britian's wizarding community.
"Do wizarding people have lawyers? Attorneys?" he asked his friend, glancing up to him and wishing he could be more helpful. "Like in the muggle world, if someone even does something as tragic as murders another, they still get an attorney and they make sure they have a fair trial. That it goes through the system as it should, even if they are awful. Did he have someone he maybe spoke with that we could contact?"
