Welp, that was uneventful. She did try to cast a spell at Katherine but missed completely. God damn it. She was normally pretty good for hitting, but today wasn't her day, she noticed that everybody else's spells failed to hit as well, seemingly everybody was a little off their game this time around, hopefully the next one will be better.

When the first round had left all four duellists in exactly the same shape as they'd started, there wasn't much need to change things up. Besides, opening strategies tended to have something of a linear progression; step one needed to be completed first. Three of the four duellists would set themselves to repeating their incantations, while Katherine, the only one who hadn't cast, strayed away from her evasive tactics. Her dodging had proven smart last round, two spells aimed at her, but perhaps between the spells not being too difficult to avoid--one, in fact, coming nowhere near her--and a want to get in on the action before spell effects bogged things down, she readied to return the Flipendo volley.

This time, the round was not marked by all misses. Both Gryffindors did, neither cast far off but Delilah proving plenty ready. The Ravenclaws were where it got interesting. Delilah's Knockback Jinx rocketed across the stage, Katherine having no such grace to avoid it as last time. It landed right in the stomach, too, quite possibly knocking the wind out of her as she was sent stumbling a step back. As every duellist knew, there was one salient, useful quality to Flipendos: they hurt.

It could have been a devastating double-blow, but instead Callie's spell went... in notably the opposite direction. That really sucked for her; the third year had started with an awfully aimed spell and now she'd backfired. Definitely not a desirable way to start the match. In total, that marked one hit on the lions and one to the eagles. Clearly fate wasn't keen on tipping the scales one way or the other just yet.

Fumbling her spells seemed be an annoying habit that Callie couldn’t quite shake. Then again she hadn’t been particularly lucky recently anyway, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise. Being like a rag doll…sish kebabed by a spider…cursed..not exactly examples of good luck. So rather then dwell on her admittedly depressing reality she opted to focus on the one thing that had been forcing her to not allow her grades to slip: duelling.

Once again, her spell would miss a second time. With a frustrated huff left her lips as the spell veered away from its target. Aurelia was not doing anything wrong, but her spells, or rather her opponent seemed to be too agile. The ravenclaw managed to hit her partner square, it was not looking too good for them. She would still need her partner alive. Perhaps luck just was not in their favour.

This round, a bit more happened, my spell hit Katherine as planned, however out of the corner of her eye, Delilah saw a flash from her teammate, seeing the spell blow up in Callies, face."Hey, you alright?" She asked, this was her first duel without Robert, Callies duelling style was a bit different, but Delilah felt like they fit together nicely. Although, upon thinking about it, Del felt like she would fit in with most as a duelling partner.

Katherine grunted the pain was a bitch, but she didn't show it at all, what came out was a simple grunt. she then decided to swallow it and stood up straight ready to face on. her expression stoic as usual and her eyes sharp and icy focusing on her opponents and ready for the next move.

The hit on Katherine sent Gryffindor into retreat. Not physically--they hadn't moved from their spots--but away from any sort of offensive. Katherine had seemingly decided she wouldn't be able to cast and dodge two spells, if Callie's ever came close; the Ravenclaws had made it clear they were set on taking her out. Aurelia, also recognizing this trend and under no fire herself, selected a healing spell in place of her attempted curse. It looked like the spell was taking considerable focus, but she managed, Katherine receiving a wash of relief a moment after a second Knockback Jinx clipped her shoulder.

Delilah was at two hits in a row, her experience apparent, though this one hadn't been as well-aimed. Callie, in contrast, was struggling. Neither of her cast attempts had gone well, the last one exploding in her face. Perhaps it was that disorientation, or maybe she was just having a really bad, really off day, because as she tried a third time, it would be no charm. Like her first spell, it went nowhere near the intended Katherine, but this one very nearly looked like she'd aimed for her partner on purpose. The only thing stopping Bridget from calling illegal friendly fire was the fact her wand had not been aimed at Delilah--she'd had a similar experience, a wayward spell striking Santario, so she knew it was possible. Likely an element of sympathy at the third year's string of mishaps, also. It was not devastating, Delilah still looking fine, but Ravenclaw had done about as much damage to itself as to Gryffindor.

This seemed a bit more like it, even though it was a bit weaker than she would normally hit, at least her spell had hit, although, once again with a flash from beside her, she flinched, except this time it was understandable as she was hit from the side by Callies flipendo. Del knew she hadn't meant for that to happen, it was alright, but it still hurt.

Either Callie needed to get her head on straight or she was simply the unluckiest person in Hogwarts right now. Either way it left a sour taste in her mouth and served as the source of her frustration. Why couldn’t things just go her way for once? It was as though some strange otherworldly being had decided to mess with her life. If so Callie decided such an evil being would have to have been called Tatsu as that seemed like a fitting name for an uncaring overlord intent of ruining her luck.
