Henry didn't even have to dodge the next spell, watching it fly through the air on his side as he moved his blue gaze back toward Rose.
"Focus, breath, you can do this. You can do this."
Henry spoke with a soft smile toward Rose, watching the girl carefully as he aimed his mayhaw wand for her watching her moments as he took small breaths. Focusing on his own strategy and spells, a part of him wanting to succeed in this duel make his captains (particularly Santario) proud as he took a breath then barely above a whisper spoke "Expelliarmus," watching the sparks fly toward Rose and hitting her wand.
Watching the red head's wand fly away from her, Henry at first wanted to summon her wand and help her but then remember it was a practice duel and he hadn't hurt her with the spell or will hurt her with the next spell.
There was still time to make up for the past as he aimed his wand for Rose and took a breath knowing exactly what spell he would cast next, it was a classic and might have been overused during his last duel.
Actually the teen blamed himself for repeating casting it causing himself to get knocked unconscious, the teen saw himself a failure in that moment and now. Looking across from Rose, all the memories between then flashing through his mind while simultaneously memories of spells failing and backfiring against him.glashed through his mind to.
Henry took his stance, closed his eyes for a moment as he took a breath then opened his blue clear eyes and aimed his mayhaw wand for the red head that stood across from him ready to both continue and then end this duel between the two before either got hurt.

Her spell missed horribly and Henry's spell hit her. She was doing awful again. She had barely even tried to dodge! As her wand flew out of her hand, she took a moment to regain her bearings. Why was she so bad at this? She'd had the upper hand for a moment, just a moment, and now she could practically smell the pity coming off in waves from Henry. Of course, she didn't know this, but anybody seeing this would pity her and want to help her. She was so so incredibly weak.
Weak, weak, weak, weak, weak-
Rose was watching Henry carefully, trying to ignore the fact that she was just so weak in comparison to Henry. Rose had purposefully not been using spells that would have made him miserable, like the Slug-Vomiting Charm. She didn't know why he did it, only to reverse it. Was it because he felt regret right after? Was it because he was waving the fact that he had the upper hand in her face? Henry wouldn't do that, but he was obviously going to win and kick her butt and MERLIN why couldn't she just be good at anything?
Rose cast her eyes around, glancing from the floor to Henry. She wanted to dodge his next spell and grab her wand, if she could find it, but she was just so paranoid at the moment, her vision seemed to be clouding.

This is hopeless... I'm hopeless... I shouldn't be here... I should go... run... Rose deserves better... they all do...
Henry held his wand at the ready, emotions hidden from view and blue eyes focused on his strategy. Knees bent ready to move and dodge any incoming spell as his opponent across from his carefully. Studying every little detail of Rose, she was missing a wand and would need to get it leaving the perfect moment for him to strike and turn things around because currently he was failing... as usual...
'A failure'
Maybe I am...
'You'll always be a failure'
I can't do anything.... Can I...
'All you do is bring others down...
'They won't notice if you just disappeared'
They'll be better of without me... won't they...
'You will always be a failure'
I shouldn't be here.... Rose deserves someone to practice with who isn't weak or a failure... who can cast and aim and dodge spells... who hadn't got knocked unconscious in their last two duels...
'A Monster'
Thoughts swirled around the young lad's mind, his anxiety looming over him similar to a invisible rain cloud that only pours on him. That familiar little voice whispering in his minds ear, determined to stay with the lad for all his years at Hogwarts.
However, none of this can be seen. The teen hid it behind the barrier since he's determining to not worry Rose. That wasn't her job and if she did then wouldn't that be selfish of him because he had to help her and soon protect and worry about her... isn't that what siblings or stepsiblings do?
Deciding to choose a classic spell and one of his favorites that won't harm Rose, Henry aimed his wand as he whispered"ventus," watching the wind spell nearly miss Rose. It just barley nicked her at the last possible moment... maybe a mistake and the teen thought he was a failure because he couldn't even aim a spell.

Rose wished she could just wake up. She felt really embarrassed at the moment, loosing the duel. She was standing there, without her wand, watching Henry, and looking around for her wand. She really wanted to dodge his next spell, but had a feeling she wouldn't. She was just that much of a failure, wasn't she? The duel was clearly tipped in Henry's direction. He had a wand and she didn't.
Rose wanted to lunge towards her wand, wherever it was, and suddenly become some kind of epic lioness, who was actually good at dueling. She was supposed to be a Gryffindor! Chivalrous, brave, determined! All Rose felt like right now was, first of all, none of those things, and second of all, scared. She felt like giving up. She was an impostor of a Gryffindor. Henry was braver than she was, and he wasn't even in Gryffindor House!
She spied her wand and leaped towards it, snatching it from the floor. Just as she looked up, Henry's next spell came her way. The Wind Jinx. She tried to leap out of the way, but she wasn't fast enough to dodge it. Wind blew in her face, and she lifted a hand to shield her eyes from the wind blowing in her eyes.
Why couldn't she just be good at this? This had to be incredibly boring for Henry. She felt bad.

Henry gripped his wand, he felt his strength darning. Breathing hard, his chest ached and sweat tickled down the back of his neck. The lad was tried and felt every move he made to he draining, wanting to end the duel. Wanting to rest. Blue eyes stared across at his opponent, none of his emotion or tiredness could be seen. Henry had experience hiding his emotions from others, he learned from his childhood which kept him from doing it.
Staring at Rose, he watched her grab her wand. The duel was even again. Both have their wand. Henry felt dread within him, a pit in his stomach like he thought he would lose. He would fall unconscious.
Blue eyes widen at Rose's knocback jinx. The spell perfect and a bit overwhelming, looking around the teen took a gulp as he braced himself knowing that the spell would be painful.
Watching it speed toward him, Henry knew he didn't have another option and nose drive to the side, slamming down on his chest and nose. Rolling onto his back, rubbing his nose that now ached along with his head but knowing the pain is still less than what that perfect knocback jinx would have been. Still the nose drive hurt.
Getting to his feet, Henry looked over at Rose as he spoke" that was a perfect flipendo, best one I ever seen," taking his spot across from the girl and aiming his wand. Knowing that he couldn't compare to her, she cast a perfect spell and his spells were mediocre. He shouldn't be there. He was a failure. He would only make a fool.of himself.

Her Knockback jinx looked really good, actually. She watched it as it went towards Henry, though the aim wasn't very good. Frustration bubbled up inside her. Even though the jinx was almost perfect, she just couldn't aim, could she? Henry was able to dodge so perfectly though, so it didn't matter anyway. She winced as he slammed into the ground. A little excessive maybe, but it was effective. Even though the spell was good, it didn't matter unless she actually hit him.
Rose, still trying to fight against the wind blowing in her ears, heard Henry comment on her spell. Apparently it was the best Flipendo he'd ever seen. She forced a smile and shouted, "Thanks!" through the wind.
That's when Henry cast his own spell. While Rose tried to dodge out of the way, Henry's aim was better. The spell hit her and she began to float. Panic settled into her senses. Though the wind was dying down now, she was now levitating in the air. She took a moment to try to balance, but then realized that she couldn't balance, because she was floating. A sharp feeling of dread sliced at her stomach, as well as adrenaline. Flailing around wouldn't help anything, even though that was her first instinct now that she was a meter in the air. Three feet. A whole meterstick.
She was fine, she convinced herself, watching her breathing carefully. She was fine. Now she just had to get back on the ground and stay there.
Why was she so bad at this?

Effect: Henry summons Rose's wand
Henry focused on keeping Rose adrift, trying not to drop her since he could imagine the pain that could be. The teen gently leveled her to the ground, carefully and slowly but wasn't expecting a knockback jinx from the girl and his own feet to slip from underneath him.
Slipping to the side and bendind over to avoid the spell, the teen lost focused and allowed Rose to fall. Henry looked over at the girl, concerned for her wellbeing and worryied that she might be injured. The third year didn't mean to hurt her, he was choosing 'safe' spells and had a sudden urge to run over to the girl.
"Are you alright?" Henry called eyeing the red head for a momemt, it is getting late and Henry could tell that both of them were taking a toll in that practice session. Henry knew he had to end this but how? The teen looked around, he didn't want to call off the duel or give the girl the wrong thoughts so he was confused with how to end the practice duel.
Eyes falling on his mayhaw wand, Henry got it. The plan is perfect or the teen hoped. Aiming his wand, the lad took a breath then spoke"Accio." Watching Rose's wand fly from her grip toward him, Henry held up a hand and grabbed the wand in his left. Now holding two wands, Henry smiled up at Rose as he spoke"Shall we stop? We can practice at the dummies then head to dinner?" Truthfully the teen wanted to go to the library instead of dinner after the practice but he wouldn't share the thought with Rose as he jogged over.
Passing the girl his wand then placing a hand on her shoulder, holing it firmly as he spoke"are you alright?"

Casual clothes=================== ===================
Rose was still floating in the air. She fell the couple of feet that she was floating, hitting the ground on her behind, her forearms went down to the stage below her to steady herself. She hadn't been bruised, though her bottom was a little sore. She stood up slowly, brushing herself off. He called over to her to ask her if she was okay. Rose nodded and forced a small smile, reassuring him it was okay. For some reason, the feeling of floating had not been fun, and she was glad to be back on the ground again. The ground didn't move. It was steady. "I'm alright!" she called back.
Henry was able to dodge her spell fairly well, slipping out of the way of Rose's Flipendo. She was tired of this. He sent a spell towards her, which caused her wand to fly out of her hand and towards him. She recognized it as the Summoning Charm.
Henry suggested they stop, sending relief through Rose. She wasn't sure what she would have done now that she didn't have her wand. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," she answered at his suggestion. Once Henry started to jog over to her, she stretched her arms up, reaching towards the sky to stretch herself out. She was a little rough around the edges in some places, but she was okay. Everybody needed a little risk, some bruises and scrapes sometimes. It reminded her that she was human. She was still here. And things could be so so much worse. He placed a hand on her shoulder, and she smiled, genuine this time, and nodded at Henry. She placed her hand on his own gently. "Yeah, I'm okay," she said, her smile reaching her eyes. And she meant it. "Are you okay?" Henry had been the one who looked a little more roughed about than her.
Rose often wondered what would have happened if she had been a Quidditch player instead of a Duelist.
And now she knew- She wouldn't have this. Her and Henry, learning from each other, helping each other out. Maybe they didn't entirely believe each other when they complimented each other, but maybe someday they would. They were both a little roughed up, but that was okay. They weren't badly hurt, and it reminded Rose that she was alive. She was here.
She was real. For this moment, Rose knew that there were at least two things that were real- her and Henry.

Henry nodded toward Rose's words. They were practicing a sport that inculdes casting spells and jinxes at your opponent to knock them unconscious but the lad still felt bad- guilty when he is against his friends. The lad tries not to imagine a duel where he is pinned aginest a friend, someone he cares for because in those moments.... in those moments he won't know what to do. Not wanting to harm his friends but also not wanting to let down his team. A problem that would be.
Once Rose is the ground, Henry jogged over to her. Handing back her wand with a soft smile, glad she liked the idea of ending the pratice duel to pratice side by side once more. They didn't face a opponent or got pratice at dodging but there is something about standing next to a friend and casting spells. Something about stand shoulder to shoulder, as equals- family and learning from one and another.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
Henry replied. Smiling at Rose. The moment felt strange, differnt even. Everything felt still, like time has stopped for a mere moment leaving two kids standing alone. Together. A sea of chaos and in the end, Henry stood shoulder to shoulder with Rose. Gryffindor and Slytherin, houses that are told to be enemies now standing besides each other as friends. Equals. Family.
The teen smiled at the girl. Glad to be there in that moment with her. Glad to be a slytherin. Glad that he is awful at quidditch. Glad that he is on the dueling team. Glad to be there with his friend- sister.
They statted to pratice. Henry often gazed at Rose through spells, she was someone whom he never met before. Someone different, almost like a breayh of fresh air. The girl meant something differnt to him as well unlike most people. He cared for her, trusted her, had a sudden urge to protect her, and wanted to be with her.
Casting a wing jinx toward the pratice dummies in a single move. Henry watched as the spell split. Hitting two. The lad smiled at Rose, believing it split for her. One cast but two spells to match the two of them. A pair that they are.
