Her Very First Dance
25th October 2021
After Emily had finished her classes, supper, and some homework she could finally head to the Rehearsal room. She was so excited since she had never been there before. She wondered when Simon would be there, she had never seen it, so she did not really know how it looked, altho she believed that the room would be quite noticeable since it was not just any room. She walked through the corridors, through the hallways when she finally saw the big oak door, which led to the Rehearsal room. She waited before the door for a few minutes and then slowly pushed it open. As she entered the room, she was studded by its beauty.
As she walked in slowly she saw the most beautiful chandelier hanging in the center of the room, and right in front of her, there was a beautiful fireplace. Emily had always loved fireplaces, it made her feel happy and warm. As she walked further into the room, she saw stunning paintings which moved just like the ones at the stairs and in all the hallways really. she saw a beautiful, large piano. Emily headed to the piano and took a seat. She looked at the piano before trying if it still worked and luckily it did. And so she decided to play one of her favorite songs she had learned a few years ago from her Mother. "Nuvole Bianche - Ludovico Einaudi"

Her Very First Dance
Sharing a love for music with @Emily R. Brewer
Simon was running late but it wasn't his fault! One of the elves that helped out in the Library had a rather large stack that she was trying to re-shelve and she lost balance, causing them all to fall. She was okay, except a slightly bruised ego from the laughter of a couple first years, and Simon went to her rescue to help not only gather up the books but help her find their proper locations.
He would only be running a little late and hoped that Emily wouldn't mind, and more specifically hoped that she didn't think he didn't care about her attempts to learn dance or their friendship because that most certainly wasn't the case. Simon just loved helping others and he had a pretty good idea that if Emily was there in the same situation with the books falling, she would have helped the school elf as well.
When he opened the doors to the Rehearsal Room, he heard the music from the piano and smiled. Not only was he glad to see his friend but the melody she was playing was beautiful and performed perfectly. In fact, it was so nice to hear that he hung back by the large wooden doors, not closing them because he didn't want to disturb her and cause her to stop. He wouldn't approach her until she had finished the song. There was a long pause at the end, and he waited, not thinking it was the completion. Then she continued, playing slowly, leading the song to its end.
"That was beautiful, both the song and the playing," he said, approaching her now as he walked in further to the room. Simon loved the piano with a passion and it had been the first instrument that he ever had learned to play.

Her Very First Dance
Emily was very concentrated, when the song finished she stepped down from the piano and saw Simon. "You made it!" She said, she smiled when Simon gave her the compliment. It had taken her ages to get used to the piano and to the song. It was not the hardest one she had ever played, but learning it was quite the challenge. "how have you been holding up? I was so busy today that i didn't get to say hi, i was overloaded by work, but i made sure i was free for tonight! As said, i have no experience dancing, not at all, so my apologies for stepping on your toes if i do." She said smiling. She felt quite shy since she had never done anything like it before, and did really enjoy music after all. She had always wondered why she had never tried to dance before, well she had once, but that wasn't really dancing, it was more just messing around with her Brother on Hanukkah. But otherwise not really anything. She stepped into the middle of the room looking around. "So what now? Are we just dancing or, i don't know do we have music, where do you wanna start off?" She asks him

Her Very First Dance
Getting the music ready for @Emily R. Brewer
"Everyone's got to start somewhere," he began, hoping that she wasn't too apprehensive for all of this. He then held up his index finger, indicating for her to wait as he walked away from where she stood. When he got closer to the windows, he squinted a little because he hated the sunlight, but then he knelt down and picked up something. Something big. Something heavy (although not really heavy to him). He placed it onto the stand that rested close-by.
"I asked around and I was able to get some different music sent to me just for this occasion. Now, it might not be from my favorite singer or your favorite band but it'll do the trick to get us through both slow and fast dances." He stepped aside so she could see the gramophone. It was a mechanical sort of music device, where one turned the crank to start it up and the mechanics caused it to move along the flat disk, transcribing it to music which played from the machine's horn.
"Tell me, dear Emmy, which would you like to learn first?" he had an assortment of music but how he wished there could be others amongst the choices - like his Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra, or even some Big Band Jazz. There was one he particularly favored called Witchita Banana, which had up-tempo jazz and was released by Incantation Records.
Simon didn't care where they began, he would leave that choice up to his student. Fast dancing or slow dancing.

Her Very First Dance
Emily smiled, she was very exsited about her very first dance lesson, and she was happy she could do it with Simon, she believe that he and her, had now come to a point were they were close enough to trust each other, even on parts for which they were ashamed of, as she was ashamed to have her first dance.
She smiled when he said "Dear Emmy" She didn't mind being called Emmy, not at all, she just hadn't gotten used to it, she felt like she was even blushing when he had asked her where she wanted to start, and so she though about what she through was quite enjoyable, and Sinatra, will always be one of her favourites. "Frank Sinatra sounds lovely to be honest." She said and smiled. "My parents and i used to listen to his music all the time, together with my mom's grandparents! But if you prefer something else, go for it! I really don't mind!" She said.
She looked around, she took a step towards Simon, so she was facing him. "Now Dear Simon, may i ask you to take this slow dance with me? Or do you have cold feet already?" She said teasting and moved her hand towards him, waiting for him to take it.

Her Very First Dance
Let the dancing begin with @Emily R. Brewer
"Who could prefer something else over Old Blue Eyes?" he said, commenting on Frank Sinatra's nickname. That was Simon's favorite of all favorites - and he had a lot of favorites when music was involved. He liked the Crooners like Frankie, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, and Bing Crosby. Other favorites included that Big Band Jazz and even Motown from America, but no, this was his top.
He set the music in place and turned the crank several times so it could get them through the entire song, then made his way over to where Emily stood in the middle of the dance floor. "Ah, Em...I'm always a little cold," and he reached out, taking her hand in his own. She'd feel it. No joke. Being a dhampir meant he had skin that was cold to the touch of others although he himself never felt cold.
He smiled down at her though and slipped his other hand to her waist."The most important thing to know about dancing is there is no wrong way to dance. It's about feeling the music and feeling the moment between you and whoever you're with. If you miss a step, or you stumble, you just keep going because it doesn't need to be perfection. We're not on Britain's Got Talent or anything like that."
As the music began, he gave her wider smile to encourage her to feel at ease but he had a pretty good feeling she already wasn't nervous, just from her mannerisms a moment before. That was good that she was relaxed. The song playing was "The Way You Look Tonight" by Sinatra and was one of his favorites. Simon would try not to sing along, but he'd fail by the second line. Luckily for Emily, the boy had been singing in his school choir back at his muggle school in London and in his church's choir his entire life, so he was pretty good at it.

Her Very First Dance
Emily smiled as he turned the music up and came closer, he took her hand and grabbed her waist. She was a bit nervous but felt safe which for her was the most important. He had warned her about his cold hands, and she did feel it, but did not mind at all. She had warm blood herself, so she was never really cold, depended on the season really. She felt that he felt a bit uncomfortable or ashamed for something, she could not really figure it out but there was something."Hey hey, to me you're hands arent cold at all! I am warm blooded so i don't feel anything! I hope i don't step on your toes or something. " She said, trying to make him feel comfortable as well.
As they danced Simon started singing, she absolutely adored it, he was singing so beautiful and she just knew he did it regularly. "Now i am very honoured that i get to have a private concert from you. You sing very very lovely." She said, still trying not to step on his toes. As they continued dancing, she felt like she got better and better. "I am getting better i guess, or it is just you who is obviously teaching me fabiously!" She said and smiled. They moved further and as she tried to take a different step, she strumbeled over Simons feet, falling down onto the floor.

Making it a little more complicated with @Emily R. Brewer
Just as she was about to hit the floor, he was able to catch her. It was those super quick, faster than human, dhampir reaction time. "Woah, woah, woah, you okay, Em?" he asked, helping her get back straighter and regain her balance before he slowly let go of her. He gave her an encouraging smile to know she shouldn't feel bad OR embarrassed about what just happened. No one was perfect, especially during their first attempt.
"But you know, your little move there tells me you're ready to move on to something a little more complicated. Still slow dancing for now, come here," he said and moved his index finger in toward himself to motion her closer. "You've got this. I know you do. Feel it, don't think it. It's not up here," he pointed to her head, "it's in here," and his finger moved to her heart.
"Don't stress over it Emmy, just dance. Dance with me," and once again he took her hand and the other hand went to her waist and his eyes looked to her blue ones. "Just dance with me and feel it," he repeated again. She didn't need to over-analyze the motions in her head, she just had to feel the music and flow with it. Become an extension of it.

Her Very First Dance
Emily was happy that Simon had catched her, but she throught it was rather fast. She looked at him, for just a few moments. And then got dragged back into reality. "Thankyou for the Catch Sim.(Pronounces Seam)That was very kind of you.She said and looked at him, as he was holding her. She remembered what he had said about the cold hands, and then the fast catch. She was thinking, but stopped herself the moment after, there was no proof, and as long that there was none, she would never accuse someone of anything, antho this wasn't an accusion, not at all, but still, and as sure as hell not one of her best friends, maybe the only good friend she has. A friend which she can talk to, one that cares for her.
Simon made her feel comfortable, even in the parts were she was not able to dance, which she was very happy about. "Moving on to the next you say? Okay then, lets get this going!" She said, she let her move by Simon, everything he did, she did. And as his hands moved back in place, they continued dancing.
As he said, she should just dance, dance with Simon. And so they danced, it wen't good, she felt like it really wen't good. She felt comfortable and for even a second she thought that if others were looking, they would say they exact same, that it looks good. She felt it, she felt the music and the flow, the connection between her and Simon in that dance. And that was all she needed.

Her Very First Dance
Some more dance instruction with @Emily R. Brewer
"Alright, we're going to take that same sort of theory, and apply it to the faster dances now," he smiled, thinking she was ready. He pulled himself from her and moved across the room, back over by the windows to where the phonograph was. He switched out the music for one with more upbeat jazz, turned the crank, and then returned.
"Once again you're feeling the music. It really won't matter what kind of moves you're doing out there as long as you are confident and you stay with the beat," and he began to do everything from some fast moves, to some turns, to the moonwalk, and the sprinkler. All just to show her that it really didn't matter what you were doing as long as you felt the music.
No one would be making fun of someone for having fun and feeling the music and if they did, well, maybe they were just jerks. "And if you're going to dance faster with someone, once again you not only feel that beat but you'll want to try and connect with that person. Find a rhythm and move when they move. It's all a balance," and he was sure she'd get the hang of it as quickly as she did the other type.
Now after this, if she was wanting to learn some ballroom sort of dances...he wasn't sure how much help he could be there; especially if they were some pureblood sort of wizarding world dances. Nope, he knew nothing of that. "We can save the hip hop for later if you want, but really that's just adding in some gymnastics. Take it from me, if you learn how to do a backflip, you'll be golden on the dance floor."
