Day one of duelling was upon them, and Santario, as per usual, was in the duelling room well before the first time slot assisting with any final prep before spectators and duellists filed in alike. Santario walked over to the third piste in line while she waited for everyone to settle down. The first piste would call for their duellists, and then the second before Santario called for hers. “Match three Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor! Cade Darkbound, Lily Cooper, Lamik Fillestar, and Everly Charlton, please come take your places!” Everly was a name she remembered from last year, the girl was highly agile, and Santario wondered if she would perform today as she had prior.
“Remember we have changed some of the rules allowing you to try and block incoming spells for your partner, but that does not mean any other physical acts are allowed. Play fair and do your houses proud! Begin!” She called for the start, this part still being her favorite. That tension clouds the air like the pressure and energy of a lightning storm right before it lights up a sky. It made her all the more eager for her duel tomorrow, but until then she would live vicariously through these four duellists.

@Lily Cooper | @Everly Charlton | @Lamik FillestarAs Cade took his place on the dais he felt a strange lump form in his throat. Perhaps he was just getting used to being up on stage in front of everyone again? Or maybe he was developing some sort of cold? It could have very well been that he was about to duel with one of his friends from the last term. The Ravenclaw boy would watch as Everly clambered onto the stage with her partner. He could remember joking about one day going against her but never did he really think it would happen. Either way, he was here to win. He wouldn't let Everly get in his way. But it did concern him. He'd never seen her duel before. It would be interesting, to say the least. When their eyes met, Cade would give a nod and words of greeting. "Fancy seeing you here, Charlton. Let's make a deal... Loser buys the winning team chocolate frogs!" And turning to regard his new partner, Cade would smile with a confident air. "Ready, Lily?" With that Cade would draw his own walnut wand and he would face the Gryffindor team. Listening to Santario's rules and introduction, getting ready to strike.

Another year, another round of duels, this time with a new partner by her side. It felt almost nostalgic to step up the platform, yet Everly could still feel excitement blurring through herself and thoughts streaming. She recognized the voice of Santario, the girl who had also monitored her very first duel, as the Slytherin recited the rules. Opposite her was Cade and his partner, a girl she didn’t recognize.
“Well, well, well, Darkbound,” Everly said with a teasing glint in her eye. A little banter never hurt anybody. “I hope you’re ready to buy some chocolate frogs!” With a nod and smile to her partner, Everly raised her wand, ready to begin.

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor: Match 3
Lamik was at least somewhat self-aware when it came to his talents. He knew what he was good at, he knew what he wasn't good at, and he knew what he was ok at. Well, he usually did. Ever since last year, when he managed to win all 3 of his duels with Raine, he had maintained the illusion that he was a very good dueller. Never mind that all of his opponents were younger than him and his partner. He won, so he must be skilled. This didn't translate to being mean, and it didn't translate to thinking anyone was his lesser, but even without that, it got to his head. Stepping up onto the stage, the boy was clearly confident. He smiled and waved at his opponents, then nodded at his teammate. "You ready?"

As the tension filled the air before an ultimate release, Santario took a deep breath and let the adrenaline course through her veins, not that her passive expression showed anything. It took but an instant for spells to start flying after she called for them to begin, and what a first round it would seem to be!
Lamik and Cade levied their wands at one another, a blazing blue light souring from Gryffindor’s side striking the younger Ravenclaw almost dead on. Bubbles would jet out of Cade’s wand, but unfortunately for him, Lamik was at the read, and they would sail harmlessly past him, occupying a space behind the piste.
However, Lily would not be denied her fame in duelling as she sent her own flipendo streaking across at Lamik, and while he tried to evade it, it would prove to be fruitless as it struck him in his non-dominant shoulder.
On the other hand, Everly had a trick up her sleeve, and it wasn’t a dove or a bunny rabbit. Her fumos came out so powerfully it took zero time for the area to be filled with smoke engulfing all four of the duellists. This was bound to be an extremely entertaining duel.

@Lily Cooper | @Everly Charlton | @Lamik Fillestar"Gah!" Cade was flung back by a burst of bright blue light, and so abruptly did his back hit the floor. He would sit there dazed a moment as the cold numbness of the spell subsided, watching his bubbles bounce harmlessly past Lamik. Oh Merlin... Already this was shaping up to be an interesting match. It was good to see that Lily had struck her mark, Lamik was thrown, although much more gracefully than Cade was. And Cade would grin at Lily as he got to his feet. A compliment brewing on his lips but they failed, easily distracted by the fumos smokescreen Everly placed upon them all. Squinting, Cade would level his wand towards where the Gryffindor team stood... or so he hoped. "Well aren't you so clever, Charlton? Almost thought I'd gone blind for a moment there," The Ravenclaw chuckled confidently, somewhat finding his momentum.

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor: Match 3
Almost immediately, jets of light began flying around the room. Cade and Lamik aimed at each other, and thankfully, Lamik had been able to dodge as well as land his spell. It seemed that whilst he’d been caught up with Cade, Lily had been able to turn her wand on Lamik and her spell hit its mark. For now, the duel remained somewhat even.
Staying true to the plan, Everly focused on casting a spell of her own, Fumos. She was pleasantly surprised when the spell had little to no resistance, coming out powerfully. Instantly, her vision clouded up with smoke. Everly heard both Cade and Lily’s remarks, and allowed herself a little smirk. At least, they didn’t know about the little trick both she and Lamik had up their sleeves.
