Appearance: I am rather average in terms of height and weight, I am about 5 feet 8 inches in height and 145 pounds. I have slightly tanned skin and pale blue eyes. My frame is not muscular, nor is it fat or skinny. I am simply a normal boy, the sort of boy that could easily get lost in a crowd.
Personality: I would like to think of myself as kind and for the most part pleasant. I am not easy to rile and I get along with most people. I would like to think I would defend my friends if they are in trouble. I don't consider myself to be particularly manipulative but I suppose I could be if given ample opportunity and reason.
In truth, I was not always a nice boy. I do have a cruel streak but it only comes out in response to one person in particular, Vladimir Athanatos. Perhaps I was a bit (ok I tormented the guy) of a bully my first year. Thankfully I am a different man these days (literally).
I strive to be an improvement in every way. I plan to be better, more loved, more popular, and everything I could not be before. It will take me time to garner the trust my previous had neglected to earn, had squandered and had actively dismissed.
History: I grew up with magic as a part of my everyday life. My parents are both wizards. My mother is a potion maker, she specializes in various healing tinctures. My father is a guard that works for a nice pure-blood family that treats my family well. That family being the Athantos family. My younger sister and older brother are both also wizards, my sister was slated to attend Hogwarts but after the death of my parents under the care of my older brother they moved to Paris and she is a student at Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons. My brother is a graduate from Ravenclaw.
I find my brother to be incredibly clever, he is also quite kind. I do not know what sort of witch my sister became as I met tragedy before she came of age. My brother Charles will likely work as my parents had, in service to the pureblooded machine I have come to revile.
Life for the most part was nothing exceptional. My parents worked opposite shifts so someone is always home with me until I attended Hogwarts and my sister. Myself as well as several other wizard kids were schooled in the basics, not magic but rather reading, writing, math, history, that sort of thing together. Some of my friends went to Hogwarts, but we lost contact shortly after we started to attend and they disappeared one at a time. As odd as it is to say, I never really thought to look for them, I should have missed them more but I did not. I simply presumed that they were withdrawn or sent to another school of magic on their parent's bankroll. I kept in contact with ost of them via owl for the few few months, those not in attendance i9n any case but the writing waned over the course of my first year.
My magic first surfaced for me when I was an infant. I don't remember it of course but it was simple, small things such as the mobile spinning when it had not been touched or a toy being inched a bit closer to me than it should have been. Nothing purposeful, nothing extraordinary. Yet it was known early on that I was a wizard and that perhaps I would be a prodigal talent.
At the start of my academic journey I had seen a difference in the haves and the have-nots. There were students that were simply more accomplished due to the virtue of their bloodline. This was something I saw in a number of purebloods who often reminded me of my 'lesser[' status. I felt an animosity towards purebloods for that reason, they irked me and I made it my personal mission to push purebloods back down to my level whenever I had a chance. This was often minor things, taking their textbooks and leaving them in the rain, rekindling the fires with them, even placing them in someone else's bag. A minor inconvenience for the most part at first in any case but my ambitions got the better of me. I was stronger than some purebloods and I used that to my advantage, knocking them down in the mud, playing games of keep-away with idle classmates that seemed keen to make another as miserable as I.
It was when I had come to realize that my parents' benefactor Thaddeus Athanatos' eldest son was in my year but not my house. The boy was pathetic to say the least, this lanky, overbred bookworm that preferred to keep his nose in a book rather than sully himself with the presence of the unwashed masses. Hardly October and my focus during my first year transitioned from indiscriminate bullying, alright pure-blood focused bullyism to tormenting the gangly, rich nerd. I took his books, knocked him into the mud and tricked him into embarrassing himself at a number of impromptu social gatherings. Our first year, the Fall Ball was certainly not a costume party then either.
Our dynamic changed when Marion entered the equation. Conventionally pretty and also muggle born, I found her first. A very pretty muggleborn Slytherin, it was no shock that something would happen between us. She shared a number of my sentiments and was no more kind than I was but she made mean look good. To come to think of it, she encouraged my dark sentiments, my resentment and pushed me in the 'right' direction from the beginning.
She approached Vladimir, acted nice, smiled a few times and did what every girl did to a nearly teenage boy -- made them hopeful. He followed her like a sad puppy dog, hopeful for something and she teased that potential for months. A pseudo rivalry developed between myself and Vladimir. Vlad never had a chance, she was mine from the start. I enjoyed her games but I did not enjoy how things ended.
It was to be mine and Marion's 'first date', we had made a spectacle of it. Announcing it loudly in class and giggling in the halls. The place no secret either. That was intended to simply unravel the already agitated and defeated opponent. I did not know until much later that I had been betrayed at multiple levels. Marion was never a girl. Well, she had not been a human girl for some time even if she looked the part. Nor was she a changeling. She was simply taken, devoured and replaced. What I had fell for was a true monster. Not that I would have cared a hormonal pre-teen, to the naked eye she was lovely and as far as I knew she wanted me. I tell you now, that neither of these truths have proved to be evident.
And Vladimir also took things too far. He had approached the crones in the wood and beseeched them a means to stop us, to make certain that I suffer, to enact upon me a vengeance I perhaps had earned. Myself and I believed Marion also were assailed by a darkness that inundated us. It bit and my blood became like fire for the first time. But soon after the incursion, in the throes of my suffering where I was not brave and in my cowardice I admit I was thankful when Vladimir came. When he pushed back the darkness and he dragged myself and Marion both back to the school. To this day I have no idea how he found the strength to carry us, adrenaline I believed then and perhaps I am i part correct. He brought us back to the school, dragged us up flights of stairs and to the medical wing where he screamed for help.
It was the same day that Potter had killed Umbridge. I saw it with my two eyes. The light and then the scream. Marion also. I was in no state to put together a coherent statement, perhaps if I had I could have said the truth of the matter rather than the the terrible sight I had come to believe I saw.
Help did not come soon enough. Even when the nurse was summoned. Even when care was rendered, the best that could be done was an attempt to ameliorate our suffering. I screamed for days, perhaps longer. I honestly do not know how much time had passed before they settled upon thick golden potion as a means to quarantine the curse but by the time it had, it has spread through my body crippling me.
The summer was spent in Vladimir's company. I did not know it was likely guilt that propelled him, rather than an inherent kindness I had come to believe he possessed. We, myself, Marion and Vladimir grew close the months that followed. Admittedly, no romance flourished between myself and Marion, there was far too much trauma in the one date we had but she would always hold a special place in my heart. Vladimir carried a flame for Marion longer than I, perhaps the fool believed her when she smiled that those smiles were intended for him. Still, in spite of his foolish moments, I had come to believe we were friends. In fact, I slowly but steadily became dependent. As my health failed, it was Vladimir that carried me. It was odd how he seemed to grow stronger as I grew weak. He entered adolescence with a healthy body and I simply languished.
I admit, I was jealous. I hated my greatest ally but having no recourse I always said that we were friends in spite of my resentment.
As my story was about to draw to a close, Vladimir sought out the very crones that had afflicted me in the first place and made a deal -- he accepted to darkness, a portion of mine and Marions. That he would take our burden, at least in part to give us a little more time. He always felt that a cure was not far off, that his money and pedigree would protect him. That his gilded family's resources would give himself some sort of immunity I suppose. Still, he took on the darkness, he played errand boy to those hags.
I was given a little more time but I was note fated to survive. I knew death intimately as it came for me time an time again. Eventually I stopped being me even, I became something inert. A life sized plaything, a shadow of my former self with ambitions of being like I was. To be better than I was. To live the life I had not yet lived.
Personality: I would like to think of myself as kind and for the most part pleasant. I am not easy to rile and I get along with most people. Abilities:
Evasive Maneuvers 1
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separate from the attack roll.
Evasive Maneuvers 2
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separate from the attack roll. When acquired twice, this stacks so when acquired a second time this becomes a 20% chance.
Spell Spread
You can elect to reduce the accuracy of your spell by -2, increase the DC by 2 and the critical failure range by +1 to target a second user with your spell. If you roll a critical failure, the attack still goes off but the spell backfires on you, causing you to take the full brunt of the attack (you cannot avoid this) and the attack would automatically miss your intended targets.
Perfectionist
You have a reduced critical failure chance range by 1. In addition, you can counter up to 1 point of additional critical failure chances caused by abilities or spells (not potions). In other words, if you have an extended critical failure chance range (as is the case with certain races, the effect of certain spells or potions), this reduces that range by 1. So if you have a +2 critical failure chance range (meaning if you roll a 1,2, or a 3 you critically fail), this ability makes it a +1 critical range instead (meaning if you roll a 1 or a 2 you critically fail).
