Supper was just letting out and a lot of students were exiting the Great Hall. A LOT of students. With the students from the visiting schools now filling the castle of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, it was busier than ever but it wasn't a bad thing. These stone corridor walls needed to be filled with laughter and learning and what-have-you.

Simon didn't eat. He wasn't hungry. Well, no...that wasn't right. He was ALWAYS hungry. It was just that food never seemed to satisfy him. He lived with a constant sort of hunger that it became his normal and therefore didn't phase him anymore.

He exited the Great Hall to see two older students holding up a book high in the air, passing it back and forth to one another. They were playing a game similar to Monkey in the Middle with a younger student although the younger student didn't view it much as playing and seemed quite aggravated with them. "Stop being so bloody childish," he said to the two. They didn't stop so Simon walked up to where they were and snatched the book from them and gave them a look. He needn't do anything more. He wouldn't have actually hurt them as he was probably one of the kindest people within those castle walls but something about his look made them scramble. "Sorry some people are such jerks," he said, handing the book back to the younger boy.

The first year thanked him and then hurried off to get to wherever it was he felt he needed to be and Simon turned, a little too quickly and a little too sharply and collided with someone. Oy. He had always been rather strong and he brought his hands out quickly in an attempt to make sure the person wasn't hurt. "Sorry. So sorry," he said sincerely. Talk about jerks. Now he felt like one. "You alright?"

Violetta had been holding a leisure book reading as she walked through the hallways, the particular chapter quite intriguing. Unfortunately it seemed the author never finished writing the book or gave up on the manuscript. "Bloody hell. Are you kidding me?!" Even at eleven she chucked the book in the general direction of the lake not caring whether it survived the fall. She hated when books were left unfinished by authors. Turning she slammed into someone clearly not watching where she was going. She blushed and was mute momentarily as the obviously blond second year she had to guess apologized to her. She simply nodded turning more red by the second feeling like a schoolgirl crush was beginning to form. Words finally came to her, "I'm good, don't worry. Slamming into you was probably the better part of my day anyhow. I'm Violetta Turner. What's your name?" She looked out into the autumn sky as some leaves danced by on the winds. "I was guessing that you're in the year above me. I'm a Ravenclaw, but your colors are a Hufflepuff?" She bit her lip not trying to flirt with him but was nervous in any event. "Give me a small tour of the grand castle?"

Talking with @Violetta Turner

"I save one student from being attacked in the corridor just to end up putting another in harm's way." Simon didn't realize that the girl had tossed the book and so he stepped around a few people exiting their way and grabbed it from the floor and brought it back over to her, handing it outward in her direction. "I'm not usually so clueless of my surroundings, I promise," he said, giving her a smile.

"What were you reading?" his eyes glanced down and caught notice of her Ravenclaw house attire. He didn't have too many Ravenclaw friends and he hoped that someday that could change. He had a very inquisitive mind and in that respect he felt he identified with them quite nicely.

He hoped he wasn't interrupting that reading, but then again, if she truly wanted to be reading at that exact moment she would most likely have taken herself to the Study Room on Second Floor or off to the Library. He liked the Library best himself and tended to avoid the Study Rooms. A time or two he lost track of his thoughts and started humming or drumming the end of his quill upon the desktop of his workspace in the Study Room and it was those very same Ravenclaws that had given him quite the look. The Library was more open and the students there a little more flexible when it came to a boy who loved music lost in his thoughts.

"I'm Simon. Don't think I've noticed you around before. Simon Kincaid, Second Year Hufflepuff. ...You sure you're alright?" and just then a group of students, speaking in a language that Simon couldn't understand, went to turn that same corner of the corridor and almost knocked into both of them, so Simon placed his hand gently on her shoulder and led her over toward the corridor walls so they wouldn't get bumped into. Thankfully he had fast reflexes.

"How is it that I meant for the book to drown in the lake, yet you find it on the floor?" She scowled at the book which somehow gained an attitude sticking its bookmark tongue out at her. "Idiotic book..." She rolled her eyes, "That book is tormenting me, please just burn it or get rid of it somehow." She made a weird face at the cover which included crossing her eyes and sticking her tongue out at it. "Physically yes, mentally no Simon." She was eleven and could be childish at times. She wasn't denying the fact she basically skipped down the hallway in hopes he'd follow her. Did you have classes today? I think that Charms and Potions as well as Herbology and History of Magic are on my list." She puffed out her cheeks making a weird cute and adorable face for Simon. Why blonds had more fun together? She couldn't know! "Simon..." She said his name slow like molasses running down a tree trunk. "If it Hallowe'en yet? I want to learn about Fall Ball whatever it is..." She had yet to admit to him that she quite possibly was developing a crush on him. Which was so possible it was impossible at the same time... She was confused!

Trying to keep up with @Violetta Turner

"Dang, girl, I don't think I've ever seen anyone hate a book as much as that," he said but then realized he was talking to a Ravenclaw. Maybe they had a closer connection - whether be it love or hate - than others. He was curious as to what was so awful and slipped the book into his bag before quickly following her down the corridor. "I've still got Transfigurations and Defense Against the Dark Arts for the day." Defense Against the Dark Arts was alright, although lately with a new article out on 'other races' from the school paper, he had a feeling that everyone was secretly hoping to somehow combat against werewolves, veelas, dhampirs, and any other creature in case they should start feeling unsafe or threatened. That was a bunch of rubbish. Transfigurations was something that just didn't interest him much. If you wanted a water goblet, you got yourself a cup...you didn't make one with whatever animal happened to be around. While fascinating...it was a bit strange.

He quickened his step so to keep up with her and smiled a little, liking that she was moving down the corridors at her own pace and not just at a normal walk. The girl had character and he admired that. "The Fall Ball? Yea, that's coming up. Creeping in on us pretty quickly. It's a Ball, so there's dancing. But last year they also had people in costumes, lots of candy to try, pumpkin carving and decorating. It was fun. You going?" he figured it was a yes. She seemed eager for it. "I don't even know what I'm wearing yet."

Her mouth made a noise as she stuck her tongue out once more disliking how easily her caught up to her. "See but you know these things being here for a year more than I. Ugh, is it terrible that I have weird feelings presently? Granted I still dislike that you can take the higher classes like Defence and Transfigurations Simon. I dare you you find me!" She took off at a run, sneaking down a corridor behind a random statue in hopes her blond hair wouldn't give her away. She was finding that their connection was growing close but she wanted desperately for him to connect over more than classes.

The Fall Ball did sound amazing even if she had to go with someone. Her thought were interrupted by the shifting of the armor as she accidentally knocked the statue she happened to be hidden behind forward toppling others over in the process. Her small legs took off to avoid being found and she was near a bridge. It was where her elder sister found true love from an owl home one day last year. She did gaze out lost in her thoughts and startled by a cold hand on her waist.

Following @Violetta Turner

He was pretty sure he knew exactly where she took off too. Not only did he have quick reflexes and quickened speed but he also had good hearing and very good eyesight in low lit conditions. This all was nothing new to him, just some upgrades of being a dhampir.

Simon had just begun down the hall to where she was when he heard the crash and he saw all that hair of hers take off. He followed, even as she descended out onto the bridge. It took him a moment, and he paused just outside because of the sunlight that surrounded the area, but then he found where she was and grabbed her, very lightly, not wanting to be inappropriate or startle her.

"I'd say you're it, but playing a game of tag together would be terribly unfair."
And that was true. He was faster than humans. Besides, he didn't think tag was so much what she was going for, but rather maybe this was an attempt to get her out on the bridge where the view was a little more picturesque than all the suits of armor and some portraits of old men and sheep. He didn't blame her for that.

Helping @Violetta Turner

It helped that she had just taken off and he naturally had quicker reflexes than others due to being a dhampir. She might catch on to his body temperature being colder to the touch as his arms came protectively around her and pulled her back further onto the bridge so that she could regain her center of gravity.

"Girl, you need to take a moment," he smiled to her. "Take a moment and find some zen. Calm." No one needed to enter the Great Lake in such a way and he was certain that the mermaids, grindylows, and the Giant Squid Herman (as he was called among some) would not appreciate the intrusion either.

"Come, sit down," he said, walking with her back closer to the corridor area, where the covered bridge connected to the castle. He then slowly sank down, resting his back against the side and opened up his bag. He rummaged through it a moment before finding what he wanted and he pulled out a clear cellophane baggie which contained some yellow candies. "Here, have a lemon drop." It would be all he could offer her - besides a sip of water if she would wish - because Simon simply detested all other kinds of candy. That, and most types of food as well. Lemon drops were an exception.
