An unfamiliar sight would greet the lions as they entered the duelling room for a group session; their captain, Meenauh was not present and instead they would be greeted by the faces of only Alan and Anastasia. As the cubs would enter what was for now their practice den, Alan would greet the new ones and let some of the team get to know each other and familiarize themselves with their team.

"For those who were on the team last year, welcome back and to those new to them team, welcome to Pride of Pendrast!", he greeted them eagerly as he let his gaze wander through the room. There had been a decent change in the people actually on the team, and he too was now officially one of the duelists whereas Ana was sticking to Quidditch. He felt a pang in his chest momentarily when he thought about leaving the team behind to join the one that had required his attention more so; especially now that he was their official captain. In a corner of the room close to where the students had entered they would find a small table with both snacks as well as drinks that were free for them to take during their practice session.

"As a lot of you are getting to know each other we will likely have a rather lighthearted practice session in which we test your dynamics and teamwork, before we come up with possible teams for the first stage of the year, if you have any sorts of questions feel free to approach either Ana or me," he offered. For those that were new, the prefect and captain would run the small group of newer people through the basic rules; such as which spells were banned and whatnot. He would find himself a chocolate ball and plop it in his mouth gracefully as he tried to keep an eye on the students, some of which he was surprised to see as he didn't know them. Also a student that he knew could become troublesome, as he knew they had a knack for breaking even the most important rules and seemed to lack decency. But he wouldn't let those feelings bother him now, nor would he let them surface or show on his face.

Galton the Glorious had been itching to return to the dueling stage all summer. There was nothing like the thrill of your peers' blood-thirst and hostility being shot towards you round after round. Sure, when you got hit it was normally awful, like, severe injury awful, but we had magic for that! A few days later and you were good to go. Momentary pain was only so bad when you could claim eternal glory amongst your peers. And that was why Galton was here.

He strode into the club, smiling towards the new Caption, @Alan Vanes. The place looked good. And snacks! These people thought of everything. Before taking his position awaiting the Captions speech he'd take a cup of juice and a handful of the whatever candies he could fit in his grubby not-as-little-as-before hands. He'd grown a bit over summer, so they weren't "grubby little hands" anymore; he could fit a full piece or two more into him palm. The joys of puberty!

As Captian Vanes began the intro Galton took stock of his compatriots. Some new and some old. It would be interesting to see how they all fared this year. And who he would be teaming up with. It saddened him that Meenauh the Mighty was no longer around to fight next to his side, but those sad feelings had a time and place for later. When more food was socially acceptable to be eaten...

Once he had finished the first spiel, Galton made his way over to Alan. The boy had a few questions he'd like an opinion on. "Captain Vanes!" He began excitedly. "How do you think the use of Protego will shape this year's duels? With minimal use of it last year it left a lot of questions in me. Or! Or, do you think we will see a similar reliance on Curse of the Boogies, like last year. With such harsh side-effects I imagine it will still be a staple for the younger duelists, but I am interested to see if those who matured will keep using it with the same ferocity."

Mentioning @Alan Vanes

The Dueling Club was a relatively new sight to Adeline. During her first year at Hogwarts, she hadn’t had much reason to spend time here, but as she marvelled at the dueling stage, the massive portraits that covered the walls, and the vast number of training dummies scattered around, she already felt at home.

Looking around at these new teammates she had, Addie felt a tingle of excitement creeping up, imagining what it would be like to fight alongside them and to be named the winning house when all was said and done. After years of enduring the torment of her older brothers, who even after she had finally shown signs of magic, had called her a squib, she was ready for some self-improvement, and to prove to her siblings that she was just as strong as they were.

Pulling herself back into the moment, Addie moved over to the refreshments, where she poured herself something to drink, and then leaned up against the table casually, hoping she didn’t look as awkward as she felt. Small talk was not her favorite thing, and unfortunately, there was no one here she already knew that she could latch onto. So instead, she just sipped her drink quietly, and waited for the captain to start speaking.

As Alan shared his intentions for this practice, Adeline subtly pulled her wand from the inside of her well worn jean jacket, and began rolling it between her fingers. She hadn’t had much opportunity to use magic over the summer, as her parents (particularly her mother) were major sticklers for the rules. So Addie was very eager to get started, and hoped that her spell casting abilities hadn’t diminished any during the holiday.

Once the captain had finished up his small speech, Addie crumpled up the paper cup she had been holding and dropped it to the floor. She moved away from the snack table and closer to the center of the room, ready for the fun part of practice to begin.

Here's to the movers, the shakers, and the mischief-makers.
