Chess Combat (Match 2)
Banner by Winnie Harper
RPing as Henrietta Montagne of Ilvermorny
She'd thought they'd had something. Their queen was vulnerable, and of the students on the international team threw forward attacks, only to have a magical shield let one crumble and reflected the other back upon them. Several healing spells joined the jets of light flashing through the air, Ret herself finding her footing more solid at the touch of their own queen's spell. There was little use dawdling in the feeling of failure and whatever pain their hit member was suffering through by Maksim's wand, it served best as a fuel for vengeance. Her breathing had been frantic, furious, biting at her own lungs with a cold chill, but she released the tension from her arms and shook away the lingering stiffness, taking a slow and deep breath alongside her teammates.

RPing as iNPC Maksim Aleksandrovich Preobrazhensky. Dialogue in italics is Russian.Maksim's jaw dropped open as his spell ricocheted off of the Slytherin's shield charm and headed straight for his own ally. He flinched as the spell made contact with Amaury, knowing that it certainly must have hurt. "I am sorry, friend!" he called over to the French student, regret written all over his face. "Accidentally, I promise!" This time, he knew things would go better.Doing as strategized.

Dmitri's Impedimenta:
ReducioTatsu's Choice: Accuracy

Alan believed that the last few moments of a combat, no matter which, would be the most chaotic as people grew tired and more reckless in order to achieve their goal. This was extremely noticeable here as well as Alan watched the students of different schools try to prove themselves to one another. Henrietta was ready to dodge, ready to take on any spell that was slung her way. Sarah would miss Maksim, who in return would use his action to heal up one of his team mates, Henrietta. Dmitri was once again set on showing off his talent, casting a spell that would spread out and target both Maksim and Henrietta, hitting the both of them with a heavy wind that knocked the air out of their lungs. Irina would hit the seemingly sleeping Adonis with a nasty Flipendo. Amaury was aware of what his team was in desperate need of right now and would heal himself up, seeming to be in peak condition once more. Astrea would go ahead and attempt to cast a spell at Henrietta but the girl was prepared and despite the fog, would easily avoid any spell coming her way. Lastly there was Violet who would conjure up a cloud of smoke that would envelop both her and a few cells around her; affecting both Maksim but also her own team mate, Sarah along the way. Alan wondered whether they could see at all with the smoke and fog; he himself was having trouble to keep an eye on what was happening!

Dmitri knew he wouldn't be able to hold his Protego up for two consecutive waves of offensive spells—even he can admit that. And so he did what he had to do—attack.
And what a smart decision that turned out to be.
His opponents, anticipating another barrier were taken by surprise by the powerful twin gusts of wind that emerged from the Viper captain's wand. It buffeted two of them at the same time, swirling the thick fog further until it was a confusing mass of gas.
At this point in time, Dmitri has already foreseen the outcome of the game.

Violet almost did a backflip when she realised that her attempt to cast Fumos worked. Hopefully, the opponent wouldn't be able to see with this one. The only problem was, she couldn't see properly herself. The Slytherin snorted as she stuck her tongue in the air, her brows furrowed. Hopefully, the fact that the opponent team had lost a member would lead the SLytherins to victory.

[font=century gothic]Interacting with the Viridian Vipers
English • #2E8B57 | Welsh • #0080BF | French • #804080Sarah's spell would miss her target, instead flying somewhere to the boy's left. It irked the Slytherin, that she seemed to have such poor luck at casting throughout this match, though she didn't let that annoyance dampen her optimism. Instead of focusing on her failed cast, she glanced around at her teammates, ones who had faired far better this round than herself - and than the opposition if she could see correctly. They'd misinterpreted what the snakes would do this round and it had worked marvellously in their favour.Doing as strategized

Irina wasn’t going to lose. She could tell that the duel was almost over and was taking every risk that she could. Not a spell had hit her yet and that was a good thing. It meant that she could play hard without being hurt during it. Sending at spell at the other team’s seemingly useless player, Irina winced a little when it hit hard. As much as she wanted to win, she still hated hurting other people to get there. Nevertheless, this was a duel and every hit counted in the grand scheme of things. Now it was just time to end with all she had left.

Chess Combat (Match 2)
This was it. The final push before the match drew to a close and the moderators decided a winner. This was the end of the strategies, the spells; the beginning of victory or defeat. Amaury had time for one final spell, and he would use it well. He would use it for his fallen teammate, Felix, and for the funny but adept Russian boy. For the brave rook, the American one, who stood now in the Slytherin queen's line of fire. For their solemn queen, who stood quietly behind them, wielding healing spells as her weapon. But mostly, he would use this spell for himself-- for the glory of victory, the smugness of watching an enemy fall. Amaury would laugh in the face of the Hogwarts team, relying on hiding and cowardice to make it through the match, for he was going to win.

Chess Combat (Match 2)
To Astrea's left, another cast of fog erupted from a teammate's wand, adding even more flame to the fire of concealment, shrouding both them and nearly the entire opponent team in spellwork. It was very apparent at this time that Astrea's own particular blend of magic and luck did not agree with the wind spell, dodged easily within with only a shutter of thick smoke as evidence of her action. No matter, so late into the game there was little time for regret. The time ticking, all were growing antsy and there was only one option left to execute. She could only hope it would work out well.
