For someone who had been employed in such a dangerous field of work, Rion often tried to avoid hospitals whenever possible. While he appreciated the starkly clean sheets, ever since the death of his father he just couldn't stand the places. That would have to change, however, because he needed to arrange a surprise meeting with the nurse of Hogwarts. He had a brief introduction to the members of staff the day before, and Rion could remember the nurse having a rather lovely name. Brummel, Bumblebee? Something like that. Either way, he had to get to know the man better since he planned on working closely with him. He would reintroduce himself and learn his name soon enough.

One hand straightened out his suit as he walked down the stone corridors of Hogwarts. The other carried a tray that held a dozen chocolate chip cookies, crafted from an old family recipe. Was he trying to bribe the nurse into giving him free health care so he wouldn't have to go to a proper hospital? ... Maybe so. In truth, Orion had not slept more than two hours since the death of his sister last November. The cold grip of insomnia was unforgiving, and when he did manage to close his eyes and drift off to sleep, he was only met with imagery that one would consider nightmarish.

He arrived at the double doors of the hospital wing and took in a deep breath. A hand would push one of the large doors open wide enough for him to step inside. His eyes flickered over the rows of empty white linen beds towards the back of the large room. This was where not knowing the nurse's name was problematic. He cleared his throat, trying for something a bit more informal. Hopefully, the man he was searching for would not mind. "Excuse me, I have a plate of cookies and no one to help me eat them."

The new year at Hogwarts would start, though the work had long been underway. Not only with the summer camp and cursed kids, but also sign-ups for new student interns, and making sure everything was exactly where it was supposed to be. While being a stickler had many advantages in the long run, it always meant the first few days of anything were fraught with nonstop activity and burning of the midnight oil. Of course, he'd love to clone himself and take shifts, but as magical as magic was, there was still a certain set of things that might forever remain in the realm of science fiction. Maybe. We'll see.

Along with the new year came three new professors, and while something about that seemed mildly fishy, Kels was in no position to question authority. He was here for the bang-ups and fall downs, and there were enough of those to keep him preoccupied for a lifetime. He'd barely note the sound of someone entering, standing up and scooching around bottles and tinctures in one of the vast glass door cabinets, a clipboard in his other hand. As the sound of the footsteps drew nearer though, one had to figure they were headed in his direction. So when also accompanied by the smell of freshly baked cookies, the nurse's head was indeed drawn over to look.

Lo and behold, there was a finely dressed young gentleman with cookies aloft on the other side of the desk. He recognized him as one of the new professors, though he couldn't remember which one he was. He at least remembered the first name from the opening ceremony they all attended, but that was the best he could do. With a short throat clear, the guy offered up the sacrificial sweets in a charming deflection. What was this, a bribe?

"Wowie, that sounds serious." Kels said, his face reflecting the humorous incredulousness he felt at the line. Still, a break was very much needed. "I'll get some tea on, stat."

Taking his time to move over to his chair, he'd light up the Bunsen burner under a thick and tall beaker that served as his kettle. As the flame burst up over the edges of the glass in a flash, simmering down to an even flow, Kels gestured to the chair across the way as he laboriously lowered himself into his own with a few old man grunts. "Orion, right? You wants some?"

Was Rion trying to bribe the nurse? Almost certainly. It never hurt to try, and his offering of sweets could have easily been mistaken for a friendly welcome gesture. It also seemed that the school nurse might have been pleasant company, and it did not hurt that he was quite nice to look at. His appearance was far more carefree than Rion was used to, but it was endearing in a way.

The Defence Against the Dark Arts professor would fake a sigh of relief, "It is indeed, thank goodness I found you just in time. Luckily tea pairs wonderfully with these cookies." His eyes would fall upon the kettle's set-up, and he could not help the grin that spread across his face. "Very clever. Never would have thought of that. I likely would have cast a spell." He admitted with a soft chuckle. He would step further into the room, placing the plate of cookies on the first empty space he found. The grunt caused him to raise a brow. The man before him could not be older than thirty, younger than Orion himself. "I never turn down an invitation for tea from a lovely gentleman."

Upon the mention of his name, Rion realized in horror that he had not introduced himself. "Forgive me for being improper, my name is Orion Lécuyer as you likely heard earlier today. I know we were introduced earlier but there were so many names that they have all been jumbled inside my head, admittedly. Kelsey was your name, correct?" If his mother could see him now, she would surely lecture him, grown man or not. "I thought I would sneak in here and take the opportunity for a one-on-one conversation with you."

Kels would make a honk of a laugh at Orion's continued humor, he was certainly starting off with a 'big personality' kinda impression. Either that, or he wanted something, Kels didn't presuppose. Not missing a beat, the man made a light observation, carrying the conversation. "Yop." Kels nodded with slowly and with intention, eyebrows raised as though appraising something very seriously. "I just like t'smell of burning gas, I think."

Finishing up what little preparation he needed to get the ball rolling, Kels next stop would be opening a drawer by his chair to grab one of the jars with tea leaves in them. When Orion called him a lovely gentleman, Kels would peep back up from his desk and give him an exaggerated look of shock. "What's with t'sweet talk here? I'm tellin' ya now, I'm done joinin' cults!"

It was a joke of course (cough), a laugh following it as he picked one of the jars at random. "Nettle? With cookies? No way..." He'd put it away for another, less extreme tea. "Chrysanthemum, that's way better."

As he went through the process of putting the leaves into a little wire basket, Rion continued with proper introductions. He'd sit back and listen, nodding, repeating that last name with the Fronch accent in his head over and over for amusement, until he was called to respond. "Indeed, Kelsum Brumbum they call me." He would continue nodding with a straight face, so used to spouting nonsense that it no longer phased him. He would claim his reason for coming was solely for a personal conversation, which Kels was far from adverse to. He loved talking!

"Anytime, bro. I will take literally any excuse t'talk t'people. Well, unless I can't. I guess I'm working right now." Kels paused, looking around to see if any of the other assistants or house elves were around. One was sorting through cabinets nearby, but clearly didn't care. "Yeah, you're in the patient seat so it's totally work."

Orion quirked an eyebrow at the nurse after that statement. "Is that so? Well, from what I have heard about Hogwarts' history with fire, I suppose you fit right in with the students." He chuckled with a shake of his head. "I wonder if this device is commonly used in the muggle world? I have seen their electronic tea kettles, very interesting, can't say I understand them." While he had traveled the world, Orion was still a pureblood who had trouble understanding non-magical items. He had not even understood that one had to plug an electronic object in so it would work. Not that it mattered in his new job position, as there was far too much magic in the castle. Even his watch was a wind-up.

"You've been in a cult? That sounds like an interesting story to share over a cup of tea." Kelsey's reaction to being flirted with made him even more endearing. He obviously thought that Orion wanted something from him, and well... He did, but not what the nurse assumed he wanted. He observed, a smile tugging at his lips. "Though I must admit, it's a shame that your first reaction to my flirtatious nature is questioning my intentions. When I see someone lovely, I simply tell the person as much. What I mean to say is... You have a unique look that I find rather attractive; I appreciate the view."

"If me pointing out as much makes you uncomfortable, I have no issue keeping my thoughts to myself." He was a gentleman, after all, and understood when to back off. "I'm well aware of nettle wine, but I was not informed that nettle tea was so popular." He commented, accompanied by an amused chuckle. He watched as Kelsey selected another jar and make quick work of crafting the tea. Lovely. At the reveal of his name, Orion quirked an amused brow. "Kelsum Brumbum? I'm afraid that's either an English name that I do not understand, or that you, sir, are pulling my leg. Either way, I will gladly call you Brumbum in public if that is what you desire."

Kelsey... Erm, Kelsum, was quite the character. Orion could feel himself relaxing in his presence. He wondered if that's why the nurse seemed so popular with the students. "Well, I can discuss my medical concerns if it would make you feel better, but I am afraid it would produce quite the long list, so perhaps discussing the healing properties of tea would be better."

With Orion reference to kids loving fire, Kelsey would guffaw along, in either solidarity with the kids or the professor, it was unclear. To his question though, Orion would not have to wonder for long, because Kels was about as close to a muggle as a wizard could get. "Eeyup, all the time. Mostly fer chemistry an' such. I uses it fer potion making, so it's pretty convenient t'throw some water on." About the electric kettles though, he'd know a bit less, as his mom wasn't exactly the buying new appliances type, and he still mostly lived in her hut. "Electric kettles prolly use electricity t'heat up a coil under t'water. You prolly know how hot electricity is by now, right?"

For someone who taught Defense Against the Dark Arts, no matter how young, they had to understand the dangers of the world. Even though appliances were mostly beyond the scope of the most wizardly of the population, they had to have come face-to-face with a electronics backfire, or an electrical storm at some point. Forest caught fire when struck by lightning after all, though maybe it was the ability to plug it into a wall and harness such dangerous power to create a controlled boil that was confusing. "Electronics are really neat, practically magic."

"Depends on the definition... but yeah, ha ha ha." Kels would make light of it, though it would not be as interesting of a story as Orion likely imagined it. "I'm jes' a friendly guy, I like helpin' my pals out, an' sometimes those pals are total psychos. What can y'do?"

As Orion explained himself though, Kels' smile would be intact, and his posture would relax, "Alrighty, I'm not gonna yuck your yum. You can appreciate my beauty all day if that does it fer you. So long as y'don't get mad at me when I don't start swoonin'."

As he put the tea together, it would only be about five minutes of steeping needed before it was done, only a short duration for such engaging conversation. Kels' straight face would break when Orion said he would call him by the name, and he'd reply in an overly proper gentleman voice, "Master Brumbum, please remember your manners."

While he poured to cups beakers for each of them, Orion continued by tried to provide a plausible excuse for his visit and Kelsey's utter distraction. Kels would rub his chin a bit, more facial hair than he probably ought to have getting a good scratch, while observing him up and down. "Long list of medical concerns, y'say?"
