See? Xailah was right. He was always in a better place. By the way he reminisced over the dense mist floating around the room, she could only assume that Plymouth was absolutely lovely. Of course, when placed side-by-side, most places were rather lovely in comparison to London. Xailah closed her eyes for a second- not more- in an attempt to visualize the bay he spoke of. All she saw was a drab, drab grey. Her eyes flickered open in disappointment. Visualizing something like a pretty costal bay wasn't easy; especially if you've never seen what a real sea looks like. Xailah had never seen the ocean. Or a bay- or anything beyond the walls of London (save for Hogwarts and Hogsmeade) and her own home. And perhaps she never would in this life.

Pericles had noticed the joy the hats brought his Gryffindor friend, and allowed Xailah to take the one she had picked up. She could have one? Oh, how generous of Pericles. With his given permission, she curled her fancily capped finger into a fist. Not the sort of fist meant for fighting; it was the kind meant for holding onto things that wanted to be kept. A safety fist, if you will. The safety fist would disappear into the nothingness of a deep pocket, before returning to view; relaxed and hatless. Thanks was expressed through a short nod. The hat would have found its way into her pocket in some way or another; but it felt good to be given permission to take it, rather than try to sneak it into her possession. Yes, the short burst of serotonin felt great- almost better than the craved jolt of guilty adrenaline, derived from stealing.

Henry's greeting was met with a tight-lipped quirk of the lips- a polite smile, or something akin to one. He moved on quickly once others started to pile into the rehearsal room. His cat, Loki the boy had called him, briefly caught Xailahs attention. The lioness waved at the small animal; silently regretting leaving Schrödinger behind in her house common room. Two faces, new to the frog choir, entered. Xailah recognized Serena. Former Hufflepuff seeker (and a damned good one at that), fellow broom racer, and one of the more tolerable of those in their shared year. She also had a mysterious, moving shirt pocket. Xailah had deduced (after an embarrassingly long amount of time) that the girls pet rat lived in there. The other child, who had introduced herself as Della, was a little less recognizable. Xailah thought she might have seen the platinum-haired girl around the Gryffindor common room.

Starlee- a certainly familiar face- was quick to arrive after the two newest Frog Club members. Xailah had gotten to learn a thing about the blonde over summer camp. During a short-lived game of truth or Dare to be exact. Short-lived for Xailah; seeing that she lost interest after truths had been distributed and students started swapping saliva for dares. She discovered quickly that the slumber party favorite, was not the game for someone with standards her. Anyways. About miss Kennedy. Xailah learned that Starlee was quite the cheeky little monkey. Or rather, that was the impression she was given when Starlee gave her a dare. A common quality among Slytherins- to be humorously impudent; though Xailah never took Starlee for one with the trait. It did add to the the cute little sister aura that the blonde seemed to radiate.

It took Pericles little time to jump into greetings, and introductions for a small game he had organized. The game sounded like a good deal of fun for the rainy evening. Leaving instruction on a note compiled of 'this isn't a ____' (race being the blank in this instance), always made it sound like the activity to follow, was secretly the exact thing it wasn't supposed to be. Xailah suspected, for the briefest moment, that the activity Pericles introduced was in fact a race; his aim being to throw everyone off at the start. That suspicion however, was quickly shoved away. Out of the (upcoming) two years of knowing him; he had yet to prove himself to be a liar. A real liar. Xailah was very certain he told white lies, to save face, or because it was the polite thing to do. Everyone told little white lies. If he claimed this mini game was not a race, so be it. It wasn't a race- "But is there a prize?" A sharp interjection. The question was warranted, was it not? You couldn't coax your choir mates into a ridiculous game of Navigate the Fog While Holding Apples in Place of Frogs, and not offer an incentive. Well, you could. But that was a smidget mean now, wasn't it? No, not really. Very cheeky though. "You will be practicing too of course...? For demonstration, so that the rest of us will know what to do?" A ridiculous question, clearly seeking an affirmative. There had been a suspicious amount of obliviousness in the cattlings tone. Xailah just wanted to see the director stumble through the fog with the rest of the choir- the mere thought was incentive enough to pique her interest in the shenanigans. Even if she had no plans to sing at the ball.

After a moment of further consideration, Xailah would speak up. "I'll give it a go." She replied with a chirp and lax shrug; knowing well, that the fog wouldn't be much of a hindrance to her. Games where vision was not needed were a piece of cake; Xailah had discovered so, in the simple years of her youth. So why bother participating? Well, why not? There was no harm in simple fun. Within reason of course. Always within reason. Sometimes the darkling liked to take part in the "easy" things- treat herself to the cake, play her silly game of pretend- anything to make herself feel like she was the least bit normal, and involved. It was an admittedly pathetic reason at best, but younglings are the world's most pathetic of creatures. Therefore, while pitiful, the reasoning was justified. Straightening slightly, Xailah would reach for a pillow, and wait for an 'okay'.

As Santario directed her question towards Pericles, it would be another voice that wisped, making its way through the room, and when it was San’s turn, her sapphire eyes found the fascinating Gryffindor. She was a fascination, and everything about Xail made her want to look like an exquisite painting. While it wasn’t exactly attraction that brought the Slytherin’s eye, it was the admiration of the fact that Xail was whomever she wanted to be and paid zero minds to what anyone else might think about her.

“It is like me and my books always getting lost in them. Though I bet the mist rolling in looked wonderfully mystical, and thank you, Pear.” She smiled in greeting and nodded when Xail asked if she was doing well while answering both of them. “Yes, quite well, actually.” A half lie as she was only doing okay with a lot on her mind, but this was not the time nor the place. “As for his majesty here=” croak “-Well he seems to be in high spirits. I hope you are doing well also.” Mr. Toadsworth’s croak had her ending her sentence with a giggle as she moved away from the fog she had cast.

As Henry entered, Santario would take note of once more where he seemed to only offer her a brief smile, one that would be returned through tight lips. As another younger student walked in, Santario smiled up at them. Shortly after, another new handler would walk in, someone she knew the name of because of her stint in quidditch. “Hey Serena! Great to meet you, Della; my name is Santario, and this is Mr. Toadsworth. Thank you for joining and helping us take care of the frogs!” Santario smiled at them as she picked up a pillow for Mr. Toadsworth and stood by Xail at the fog while a nod would be given to Starlee as she entered the room as well.
