Wand Description: 26,4 cm silver lime wood and unicorn hair. Bendy, gifted with defensive powers and likes wizards who go on dangerous quests. Reducio Wand Wood: Silver lime was an incredibly unusual and attractive wood that worked best for Seers and those skilled at Legilimency. It was greatly in vogue in the nineteenth century when the demand outstripped supply, causing some wandmakers to dye other wood in an effort to fool purchasers into believing they had purchased a silver lime wand. Wand Core: Consistent magic, bonded strongly to first user.

Pre-Hogwarts History

Azalea has a large family, an old one, that has been living in Oxford for many many centuries. Her parents claim that their family had been among the first to settle in the city, but Azalea can't imagine that being true. There are many branches to the family, though the Aves serve as the main branch. Her mother, Acacia, rules the family with both an iron fist and a kind heart. No one disobeys her, out of a mixture of respect and fear, for Acacia Aves is a scary woman when crossed, with a fierce temper and a knack for finding weak points in one's ego. Her father, on the other hand, though very much alike to her mother in many ways, is a much calmer presence in her life. Incredibly mellow, almost to the point of foolhardiness (as Acacia has pointed out many times), Azalea can't recall the last time she's heard Damian Aves yell. Perhaps he never has.

She also has three older brothers and a younger sister. The sister, Snapdragon (affectionately nicknamed 'Snap'), she cherishes, and together they are unstoppable. That being said, they also fight a lot as siblings close in age do. The brothers, being much older, are beloved. Having all left Hogwarts already and settled into the world, the times they do visit are special and rare. Full of worldly advice and endless energy for play, Ash, Lupin, and Rowan Aves are her prime targets for mischief.

In school Azalea has always been among the top students, though never the top student, or even truly close to the top student. Having an incredible drive for learning and innate curiosity about the world around her, she has always been good at comprehending what her teachers teach them. Unfortunately, she's struggled with reading and writing for as long as she could remember, and coupled with testing anxiety, she's always struggled to get the grades she deserves for the work she's put in and her comprehension of the subjects. Fortunately her teachers understood this, and she has been working with a speech and language therapist to learn to read properly for the last couple years after her third-grade teacher brought up the possibility that Azalea may be dyslexic to her parents.

Since then Azalea has improved quite a lot, but still struggles a bit at times and may need extra help. Unfortunately, she is more likely to put in a lot of extra effort than ask for help from peer or teachers.

First Instance of Magic:

Azalea was playing with her preschool classmates with the class bunny. Only one person was allowed in the pen (a corner of the room full of toys and with plenty of hidey-holes for the bunny) with the bunny at a time, and normally the teacher or teachers assistant supervised play time. In this moment, however, the teacher was distracted by an argument between two students that involved a lot of shoving and the TA was going to the bathroom. A boy was in the pen with the bunny, and the other children watched from the outside as he played. Overwhelmed by his happiness at being able to see the bunny, the boy pulled him into a big hug, the kind that was against the rules. Azalea, distressed at seeing the bunny kicking and trying to escape, began to cry for it and the next thing she knew the bunny was free and the boy was rolling on the floor away from it. She'd willed a fake rubber football (the kind for young children) into bouncing over to the boy and smacking him in the head. In his shock he'd released the bunny and begun to cry.
