Charles crawl through the path, using his arms to move his body forward as he squinted ahead desperate to see any form if light no matter how small as he pulled himself forward among the ground.

The blonde was felt like giving up and casting the sparks charm above his head for someone to come find him but the feeling of giving up... of surrendering didn't leave a good taste in Charles's mouth. The Dumstrang was determined to get through this maze no matter what else was thrown at him for the main reason since Arjan went into the maze as well and he didn't want to give the fellow Dumstrang the moment of glory in making it out first.

Although the way Charles was going he might not make it out at all...

Charles took a break, panting when he felt the hedge close smaller. Freaking out the boy rapidly pressed his hand aginest the hedges and tried to push then away for him as he heard the growling then gave a gulp.

Suddenly he felt pulling on his ankles and the tightness of the hedges didn't help as the bit kick and clawed at the ground around him desperate to get out and away from whatever was pulling him.

The blonde looked at the end of his wand but ignored it, refusing to call for help as his head hit the hard surface in a attempt to pull himself away from whatever was pulling him back and out of the maze or at least out of that path....

The soon to be fifth year would regret his decision to jump into the water almost instantly, as his flesh was chilled to the bone and his teeth shattered violently. It felt like his body soaked up the water until only icy water moved through his veins and he could almost hear his muscles ache as he forced his body to move. He could feel Tiger shaking and moving his paws in discomfort just being in contact with his cold skin, even though he made sure that the feline would not have to actually touch the water's surface, but the rain (while not freezing) was enough source of discomfort. Alan hardly noticed the bad weather, his mind running on auto pilot and his joints protesting like unoiled hinges. This went on far too long to be endurable or comfortable but the prefect had made a decision and thus grit his teeth and pushed forward until his hands were able to dig into the shore on the other side of the trench or pond. He'd use his feet to claw his way out of the crystal clear water. His limbs had long become numb and his lips were blue as he wrung off the excess water from his clothes as he finally stood. He'd watch out for Evelynn and offer her a hand to help her out the water, his motor skills reduced to a roughly clasping her hand and pulling her out, if she were to accept his offered assistance.

"Aer Callidus," he whispered with chattering teeth as he willed his wand to move in the motion required for the spell and if successful, he would let it warm/dry up first Tiger, then Evelynn and lastly himself in true gentleman fashion. He hadn't expected for this to turn out this bad, though now being at the other side he would give the girl accompanying him on this quest a weak smile. "One more hurdle overcome," he let her know, before turning to take in their surroundings. From here on out there was only one path available and it would lead them through a tunnel between more hedges. He couldn't see what was inside but this hardly mattered as he knew he wouldn't risk stepping back into the pool of water, he'd likely freeze to death trying. He was happy that Tiger was fine, glad he had chosen this outfit for the feline that had shielded him from most of the rain and had kept him safe so far. Alan wouldn't forgive himself if something would have happened to the feline during their stay in this maze. "Let's press forward," he let the co-captain know before entering the tunnel with Tiger in his arms, both sharing their body warmth, still a bit shaken from their last quest.

When there was a sudden change in her mood, the blonde just turned and walked forward to reach her favourite violin and boots, again. Still spreading her hands away trying not to hurt herself by hitting her head somewhere, in the fogginess. Tho the violin didn't produce an amazing tune, it felt good to Vivian, it helped calm her. She expected something terrifying but this wasn't scary at all, at least to her. It was rather fun to not spend her time alone and she felt idiotic to walk alone, ignorant to others' opinions. Acting like a smarty at one moment and regretting her move just after few minutes, she wrinkled her brow at her behaviour.

once when she reached her... new friends" Hello agai-" her voice faded when she noticed something. A way to move forward? How come she didn't notice it last time? But no, she knows it was a dead end last time when she came here. And there was a sign to, a party path! Her curiosity made her completely ignore the violin and boot. Scrunching her eyes, she tore inside the new path unaware of what was held inside for her to deal with. Before she would walk forward, she snapped her eyes shut and gripped her wand so tight. Hopefully, this, too, wouldn't be a dangerous thing. What she planned was to be seated enjoying the company of her new friends but plans changes, not to mention how unstable her mind is.

Dreadful. That was the only thing that came to mind as Evelynn lowered herself into the shockingly chilly waters. Previously, if someone had asked her to describe what she imagined death by asphyxiation to feel like, this would be similar. She couldn't breathe. Every fiber in her body seemed to constrict. Stiff and ungainly, her limbs battled her will, sluggish and clumsy. Her chest groaned in defiance, arguing expansion with every gasp for air. And then the pain. it came on suddenly and unexpectedly as muscles cried in anguish, seizing and contorting in the aquatic hell.

But by that point, she had already reached the bend, and her own willful stubbornness clamoured against the notion of turning back now. Still, when the passage beyond that corner had opened to reveal another expanse of water, the energy seemed to go out of her. The pain had begun to fade by then. Only a few minutes in the water, and already sensation had dulled. Feeling flowed from her as easily as her will to carry on. Fatigue fell heavily upon her shoulders, bowing her her, dulling her mind. Even the splatter of water as her chin sank periodically below its crest was not enough to rouse her spirits. Fog descended. Whether over the water, or only in her mind, she couldn't quite be certain.

It was fortunate that Vanes had entered in ahead of her. His presence bobbed periodically into view, reminding her that she wasn't alone. Prodding her to continue forward. She did. The strokes languished, propelled with decreasing vigour with every pass, but they continued. One at a time, one arm over the head, then the other. She lost herself to them, to the mantra in her head. Just one more. One more.

She hadn't even realized Vanes had exited the water when he had. Or that she had evidently made it to the end. One moment, she was lost at sea in an endless battle against a figuratively raging riptide bent on crashing down her stamina until she had no choice but to succumb to its embrace and sink slowly into a peaceful slumber... The next, a hand reached out before her, inserting itself into her view. She reached for it, barely conscious of the effort it took to extract herself from the waters. Teeth chattered a mocking tune; goosebumps erupted across ghostly pale flesh; clothing clung indignantly to a despirited figure; and arms enclosed themselves subconsciously about her core as though that would somehow return their warmth.

"Thank you.." It was all she could manage as Vanes took the initiative to dry her, the heat of the conjured air breathing life back into her. When the tremors finally stopped and her ability to cast returned to her, she reached for her own wand. Two was faster, and it was the least she could do for his consideration. "Aer calidus," she uttered quietly, taking additional care to enunciate correctly despite the lingering numbness. Turning her wand to him, she would start his drying process while he yet finished hers, head turning back towards the water to see if Martin had made it. If so, she would do as Vanes had done, helping her to solid ground and drying her thoroughly.

Once the discomfort of the water's embrace had left them with naught but a memory, she once again stood tall. There was no question about going back the way they had come. Which left them but one option. Forward. With a nod of agreement, Evelynn followed after Vanes' lead, pressing on into the tunnel.

The situation for Charles seemed to be worsening with each passing moment. The determination of the boy was admirable and he showed considerable drive to fight through his inclination to abandon the maze. But that didn’t make his situation any less dire. Something had his ankles. He couldn’t see what through the darkness but the sensation alone would be disconcerting enough.

While avoiding his wand, Charles would struggle against whatever had him. He would try to crawl forward. Clawing and kicking against the soil to try and inch forward, Charles would feel the grip only tightening. Instead of crawling forward, the boy would feel himself being pulled forcefully backwards. The legs of the boy began to be pulled up. Up into the low ceiling of the tunnel. He would be able to hear the rustling as his legs, up to his mid-calves, were pulled into the ceiling. Whatever had hold of Charles was still pulling the boy and if he did not think quickly, more of his body might be devoured by the hedge.

(Charles Nako Alluring (@Henry Knight) Available Directions: Can still try to crawl forward but ensnared and being pulled into the tunnel ceiling)

Gaining a bit of relief from the frigid weather, the pair were able to quickly cast the Hot Air Charm. With the continued rain, it wouldn’t dry them. But the warmth of the air would give a temporary reprieve from the chill. Enough so they would be able to focus on whatever dangers might be ahead of them. They were slowly making their way closer to safety and an exit but that didn’t mean they were out of danger.

Into the tunnel, the pair might have hoped they would escape the unrelenting rain. Unfortunately, the clouds appeared to follow them into the tunnel and they wouldn’t find their reprieve. As they maneuvered the dark tunnel, they would continue to have a chilled rain pouring over top of them. The tunnel itself was a completely dark abyss but it was a short jaunt before it opened up into clear skies.

The pair would exit the tunnel into a large open chamber. Along the walls of the chamber, a dozen torches suddenly lit with a dim blue flame to cast a haze over the large area. On the far side of the chamber was an arched doorway with a purple wooden door. A signpost sat beside it but it would be a bit too far to read the sloppy message in the dim light.

On the grassy floor of the chamber the room seemed to have been divided into a series of shapes. One foot by one foot shapes. Almost like a large chess board but instead of checkered squares, it was a continued pattern of a triangle, circle, and finally a square. Each the same size, alternating across the entire chamber. There was no indication what the symbols might mean or if they meant anything at all. But on the plus side, the rain would slowly stop. Alan and Evelynn would finally have their relief from the cold water.

It seemed that the party path was too intriguing to ignore. As soon as Vivian crossed the threshold into the path, it seemed that the violin changed to a more excited tune and began to slowly float behind them with the awkwardly dancing boot hopping slowly behind. Within the first few feet there was a part of the hedge carved vaguely into the likeness of Professor Jensen with a sign above that read ‘The Original Party Animal’. The dancing boot and violin seemed to stop moving at the shrine but continued their tune as the students continued on.

As they walked, large party poppers on the side of the hedges began erupting and launched colorful confetti over the girls as they walked. The music was still clear and cheerful as they made their way to a small fork on the party road. A small table was set up covered with donuts and candy, seemingly for any adventurers with a bit of a sweet tooth. To the left was a short path with a clear dead end but a massive carpet on the group. There was a wooden sign that read ‘Hop on for Something MAGICAL!’. To the right, the path seemed to continue and the hedges were covered in party streamers and a smell of fresh cookies could be smelled. But It would be up to Vivian to see where they tread next.

Water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink. Well, there would have been plenty, Evelynn supposed, had she been in such dire straits as to require to do so. As it happened, she was neither thirsty nor hungry. Just uncomfortably soggy, and getting perhaps just a touch annoyed. When she had signed up for a maze, she'd had images of traipsing casually through the tall hedges, relying more on wit and luck to navigate her way through. The weather had been pleasant, and the company more-so. It would have—should have—been a right lovely little jaunt.

Instead, she was met with cold and water and crawling—honestly, why was there so much crawling—through hedges and mud and being harshly reminded at every corner that every time she agreed to participate in activities sanctioned by the groundskeeper, her clothing suffered. Perhaps she would do well to reconsider joining such events in future. Or if she did, ensure she brought her rucksack with full assortment of supplies and a change of attire as well. These thoughts, and others, ruminated in her mind for the duration of the journey through the crouching tunnel.

Perhaps it was the rainclouds that followed that were to blame. Or maybe they simple served as a coincidental materialization of the emotional rainstorm that would still have hovered there in their absence. It wasn't until the two of them emerged from the darkness into a grassy field that the rain eased, and with it, her brooding thoughts. And like a broom to a dirty floor, the scene that opened up before them swept her irate notions aside as her attention honed in on the peculiarities of the clearing.

"A puzzle?" Evelynn inquired, not really expecting any sort of answer.

Straightening, fingers plucked absently at her damp clothing, attempting fruitlessly to adjust the way the fabric hung. But her skirts just stuck and clung to her uncomfortably. Still, her focus had successfully been redirected to the unusual board that lay before them, noting the pattern of shapes that dotted each square. And in the distance, the sign. Squinting, she tried to make it out. To no avail.

"I really ought to have brought my bag.." she mused, lips crimping with the deflated realization that her omnioculars would have been useful in this moment. "Are you able to make it out?" She asked Vanes, hopeful that his eyes might have been better than her own. Doubtful. "Or bring it nearer to us?"

Slowly, she approached the edge of the board. Her gaze darted around the space, searching for any other clues or objects that might prove useful to navigate this little puzzle, or at least shed light on what it was that they were facing. Perhaps there might be something hidden? "Revelio," she incanted, waving her wand to cast the revealing charm. It had helped her out once before to reveal the secret doorway that had led them to the water. Perhaps it might do so again..?

"I hate this place"

The Dumstrang cursed in russian as he pulled- actually clawed at the dirt in a attempt to pull himself away from the tunnel and whatever had hold his ankle. The blonde dug his fingernails underneath the dirt, grasping for a better hold as he breath hard looking for air.

Squirting his eyes ahead, desperate to see any sign of light or rather hope that a exit and freedom was close. He should have stayed with the Hogwarts students maybe then he won't be in his current and unfortunate situation but Charles Alluring wasn't one to follow the group not when he wanted to take the place of his older classmate; Arjan Oberoi when he graduates.

No, the blonde world continue one as he pulled himself forward then felt his head instantly hit the ground hard, mud flying up to his golden locks as the vine creature pulled him back inside deeper into the hedge ceiling...

"Get off me, you bloody plant," Charles shouted in russian at the vines as he pulled at them and clawed at them in a attempt to free himself. The blonde wasn't the smartest and his spells had a better chance of failing or backfiring then working at all but was desperate to free himself as he took his wand our and pointed it at the plant yelling in russian, "Diffindo!"

"You think this had any kind of special meaning?" he wondered as the two of them had left the rain and went into the tunnel. They had found themselves to be within a room and Alan could hardly make sense out of any of those shapes. But he knew that perhaps she was correct, that there would be some sort of muster in there. Were their surroundings interactable in any way?

They should at least try to figure this out, if it turned out to be nothing more than an odd sense to decorate a room, the two of them could still continue on with their journey through the maze. "Alright let's try to look for a pattern or something," he suggested as he tried to run his eyes over everything in the room that could be a clue or help them with this particular task. Tiger would be placed onto the ground and follow the boy in his foot steps as he made his way through the room to get a good look at everything that could be found within. He had noticed that Evelynn would go on to cast the revealing charm which really was not that bad of an idea, so he would join in, "Revelio".

The immediate switch in the violin's tune made her eye half open. To her surprise, her friends- I meant the violin and the boot accompanied her when she turned to look. Even if they don't have a heart, mind or whatever it needs for someone to be called alive, it still felt so nice for her to not walk alone when she's taking a new path, when her mind is filled with curiosity and confusion. As she turned away, she noticed a hedge, carved into something- or someone familiar. she wasn't particular about who it was but she felt she would get to know if she focused on its details. To her, this wasn't important now and she noticed the board about the hedge 'The original party animal'. Tho she never considered herself as a party person, she walked forward and didn't stop even when she was well aware that the violin and the boot stopped. All she wanted now was to know what awaits her as she would move more further. Her head straight, she walked casually and the first party poppers being exploded did scare her a bit but as she laid on her way, it became normal to her.

The music being cheerful made her doubt whether there's going to be something scary as she moves. She fixed her mind that there would definitely be something for her to deal with and also she perceived that the maze would've planned to shock her with dangerous stuff after making her go through all this fun and sweet experience. Now, it was again time to make a good, hopefully safe decision. Before that, why not try some sweets? That seemed to be more important to her at this moment. Her stomach started to make some weird noise at the sight of the table filled with those yummy things, she didn't have anything to eat since she entered this maze. Tossing one of the strawberry candies into her mouth, she picked as many candies and donuts as possible excluding the chocolate flavoured ones and dropped them on her bag and pockets. Her head first arched to look at the right side, she sniffed and figured out soon it was the smell of biscuits but she has enough snacks for now and the party streamers made her think there must be something suspicious, as it looked normal. To her left, it was a dead end. But she was no stranger to 'dead end not being dead end' and without a second thought, she took that side. The blonde guessed that she would fall into somewhere if she walks on the carpet, and readied herself and her bag not wanting to ruin her food.

With legs now being devoured by the hedges, Charles’ bad situation was rapidly deteriorating and the boy seemed aware of the predicament. While the boy did not exactly seem fond of the child eating hedges, he did seem increasingly willing to fight. A willingness he would need to make it out in one piece.

But no amount of squirming or struggling would pull him free of the vines. He needed a more decisive move. And that is just what he did. With wand in hand, Charles would successfully cast diffindo. Unable to see his legs inside the hedge, it was a move that risked hitting him. But luckily the boy cast the spell with expert precision. The spell cleaved through several of the vines that were holding him. Immediately the grip of the plants ceased and Charles plummeted to the ground. Free of their grasp at last!

There was no telling when the hungry hedges might strike again but for the moment, it seemed as though they had been pacified for the time being. Charles would be able to crawl forward or backwards without needing to fear the retribution of the plants. But there was no telling what else may be lurking.

(Charles Nako Alluring (@Henry Knight) Available Directions: Can crawl forward or backwards.)

Both Evelynn and Alan appeared to be learning in the maze. Learning to acknowledge that not everything would be as it seemed and obvious traps were more than likely...traps. But that didn’t mean it was always easy to avoid the traps. But Evelynn slowly approached the edge of the pattern, intelligent enough to not just haphazardly run forward, a decision that would have ended very very poorly.

Instead, the pair decided on a more cautious approach. They both successfully cast revelio on the patterned floor to see what they might be able to discern. Luckily, both of them were skilled enough to easily cast the spell and it would yield at least some information. While the purpose of the puzzle floor wasn’t clear or what would happen if they stepped on the shapes, they would be able to see that all of the triangles and squares seemed to have some sort of concealed trigger. The enchantments wouldn’t be clear but the only shapes that revealed nothing were the circles.

This could mean that the circles were safe to hop to...or perhaps they held something beyond the scope of the pair’s investigation. Or they could chance it on the squares and triangles. It would be up to them but they might want to watch their step. The chamber was large and there was plenty of space to stumble where they might not want to be.

Vivian seemed to be mostly enjoying her short stroll down the musically blessed Party Path. It was a far better alternative to some of the more...treacherous paths lurking in the large maze. Reaching the branching path, the girl seemed most interested in the smattering of delicious treats that had been laid out by the Groundskeeper. Vivian even seemed to be storing some for later like some sort of dessert loving squirrel.

But eventually she knew she needed to proceed and moved towards the left. Dead ends had shown promise thus far and the girl was right, things were rarely what they seemed in the maze. Vivian seemed to have her suspicions towards the carpet but strolled onto it regardless. There would be a couple of seconds were nothing happened but when the carpet did move, it was already too late for Vivian.

The carpet launched into action wrapped around Vivian’s body. It was far stronger than a carpet should have been and Vivian would barely be able to move her within the smothering grip of the carpet. Some of the poor donuts the girl had collected would be squished under the mounting pressure and if the girl did not act quickly, she might find the situation increasingly disconcerting. A flap of the carpet slowly closed over Vivian’s head placing her in complete darkness as it continued to tighten its grip
