Koko had chosen a spot far from the library's door for her studies. She was quite close to a bookshelf, actually, and she had a few books cluttering the table she sat at. She herself was hunched over the table in the worst sort of posture ever, the type that she actually hated to eve do, but she couldn't really help the fact that she was tired.

Her arms were crossed under her chin, resting on the table, and as she stared lazily at the indecipherable words swirling under her nose, she lightly tapped her foot against the ground. She nearly yawned, but she had enough dignity to stifle that. She did belong to the prestigious Leblanc family, after all.

Speaking of the Leblancs, she really would rather have been practising French than reading about... What was this? Oh. Right. It was History of Magic, otherwise known as boring.

Koko turned the page, narrowly avoiding a paper cut to her chin, and she blinked before glancing at the unfamiliar words. She hadn't read the page before. She was a prefect, though, and she was supposed to set a good example to any underclassmen.

'Frère Jacques, frère Jacques...'

She was muttering under her breath now. If someone were listening, they would hear something that sounded quite like breathy singing, as if it had not been practised in years. Koko's voice was rough from lack of use, and it sounded even more scratchy the more her eyelids fluttered.

Her fingers traced patterns on the wooden table as she hummed quietly to herself, occasionally murmuring a word or two of the lullaby aloud. Sometimes her humming was interrupted by a quickly-stifled yawn. Her head felt heavy, almost as if it had been lined with lead and slowly brought down so that now, her temple took her chin's place against her forearms.

Her gaze flickered momentarily before her already terrible posture flopped into a terrible slump. Koko, thankfully, did not snore, but that small kindness did not excuse the fact that her eyes closed - and she had fallen asleep in public.

Opeila was almost caught up with her school work. Since her second year the young girl had made sure to work hard for classes and that had not changed with her third year starting. The many visits in the library were a Ravenclaw cliché but Opeila had learned by now that those house clichés meant nothing. She had met too many Ravenclaws who she found to be halfwits to care.

So this afternoon, afte she had finished her classes, Opeila was in the library again to return some books and also to finish an essay for Ancient Runes. She had knowingly waited with that one until all her other homework was done, as she still found the elective to be her new favourite subject.
The young girl had decided to put on something more comfortable after her classes. The green sweater her grandmother had gifted her in her first year still fit well and her jeans were comfy enough too. Her brown hair was hanging down her back in a loose braid, so it wouldn't be in her way- someday she would cut it, definitely. But not yet. At the moment she liked it.

For two hours Opeila buried herself in her books, determined to do her very best on this assignment. Ancient Runes had gotten her wary. She had stopped scribbling random patterns onto her parchment in classes- what if she accidentally drew a rune? Professor Lydursdattir had made quite clear how dangerous that was, which why they were also not allowed to copy runes from the board. Not taking notes was something Opeila couldn't get used to yet. It made her almost uncomfortable, scared to have forgotten something later on when she needed to study for exams.

The sun was already going down when Opeila finished her essay and began to pack her things again. She swung her brown leather bag over her shoulder and collected the books she had used as source. That there were books about Ancient Runes in the library shouldn't have been a surprise to her but yet it had comforted the third year a great deal when she found out. So she would be able to study for the subject after all, with more in her hands than the few bullet points she had written down in secret.

Walking down the rows of bookshelves, Opeila was soon accompanied by a grey cat. "Hi Loras...", she murmured, looking down on the little animal. Opeila was rather relieved that she could let him back out of the dorm on his own without having to be scared that he would get into trouble. Altogether, her cat had developed in a way she was more than happy about. The two were certainly good companions now, especially considering that they had started off with difficulties.

Her braid slightly swinging from one side to the other, Opeila brought the books back to the correct shelves and turned to leave, when she noticed someone lying on a table. A blond girl, who she had regularly seen asleep in the last two years, her dormmate Koko. It seemed that she had fallen asleep now as well, peacefully breathing. Chuckling a bit, Opeila walked over to the table, gently brushing a hand against the older girl's shoulder. "Hey, Koko...", she said softly. Loras jumped on the table and sniffed at the sleeping, definitely familiar person.
Surely the blonde had come to the library with something to do, so she would probably not want to sleep through the whole afternoon.

She wasn't dreaming.

It was nice, really - Koko's dreams were usually littered with spiders, which meant she usually slept terribly.

As she breathed steadily, nearing footsteps almost seemed to lull her into a deeper slumber. Their steady thump-thump-thump-thump was hardly worrisome. Feet against soft carpeting didn't sound at all like heels on tile. Thumping was welcome - clicking was not.

Something brushed against her arm at nearly the same second she heard a soft, 'Hey, Koko...'

Koko lifted her head, blinking slowly, before smiling at the cat. 'Oh, hello there,' she said, her voice still thick with her short-lived sleep.

The longer she looked at it, the more familiar the cat seemed. She glanced up and to the side, and... 'Opeila! Hi!'

Was she meant to defend herself? She hadn't been sleeping. She'd been thinking. There was a difference.

Well... Koko didn't like to lie, especially not to her friends.

'What brings you here?' Koko asked, and upon realising how dumb it sounded - the library was a place for everyone, after all - she added, 'Studying?'

She adjusted her folded arms to cover the History of Magic book she had been napping on, not caring about the detrimental effect her new pose would have on her posture. She opened her mouth, about to make a comment about the weather, but then she remembered she was inside and that would have to wait.

The light wafting in through the windows was still a tad bright, probably due to the angle the sun was at. Evening was like that sometimes.

Koko tilted her head to the side to minimise the glow and laughed quietly. 'Wow, I really lost track of time.' She actually... Did not know what time it was, not exactly. Wonderful. She glanced back at the cat and then to Opeila again. 'What's this little guy's name?'

"Loras, off the table, come on-" Wouldn't that be hilarious, waking up a prefect and promptly getting detention because her pet had no manners. Opeila didn't think that Koko was actually someone who would hand out detention for such a thing but still. The young Slytherin herself wanted her cat to be well behaved, so he wouldn't give the Virtanens a reason to explode when they returned to Finland.

But Koko was already waking up, sleepily greeting the cat in her face. Sighing, Opeila picked him up. "Come on now, boy..." Her dorm mate had now noticed her too. "Hi! Er, I hope this is fine, I figured you fell asleep by accident... did you?", Opeila asked, unsure. She wasn't judging, not at all- in her first year it had happened to her all the time, so she knew only too well how easy it happened if one was only tired enough.

"Yes. Well, kind of.", Opeila answered when Koko asked if she was in the library to study, "I still had an essay to do, for Ancient Runes, but I am done with that now." The third year eyed the books Koko had been reading- or fallen asleep on. "What have you been reading?" Opeila tilted her head a bit so she could read the words on the pages, perhaps find something that would give a hint what subject this was for.

Koko laughed, apparently only now realizing that she had slept for quite a little while and Opeila glanced at her watch. "It's 5.20 pm. So not that bad, if you still have something to do, there's a bit of time left before curfew.", she informed the older student.
She had to say, she was a bit surprised that Koko didn't know Loras' name, after he had lived in their dorm for one and a half years, but then, they all had been rather caught up with their own troubled, hadn't they? "Oh, that's Loras. My little mischief maker."
