Mahoutokoro NPC  iNPC Registry
Image

This is a thread that is used to submit applications and updates for iNPCs of Mahoutokoro.
You can find an up-to-date roster for this school here: viewtopic.php?t=17010
Restrictions to Creating an iNPC:
  1. Mahoutokoro accepts students from Japan only, no other Asian countries. Although you can have a student that was born in another country, at the time of invitation to the school, your character must be living in Japan and have experienced their magic there.
  2. "After a child displays their first sign of magic and reaches the age of seven, they are invited to the school's day program - a chance to start their education before a time of boarding." Please remember this part of the lore when writing your character's backstory.
  3. Any iNPC that you create needs to be the same year as you are presently.
  4. Any iNPC that you create must be fully human.
Application for iNPCs:
Name: Nothing from the sacred 28, no plagiarizing names from other fandoms.
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: Must be the same year as you are presently.
Status: Muggleborn, Halfblood, Wizardborn, Pureblood
Appearance: Please give a short description (at least 2 sentences) about what they look like and provide an avatar or a banner that shows their physical appearance. This picture or avatar is what you would be using in your posts where you are posting as your iNPC to clearly indicate that you are posting as your NPC not your PC.
Personality: Please give a brief description (at least 2 sentences) about their personality. If their personality is that they are a 'crazy person' or some sort of psychopath with a long list of disorders... please make a new personality because it will not be accepted. We do expect the personality to be something that can interface with other players and if they do have a mental or a physical handicap that it is done by a well-informed writer that will do so respectfully.
History: We are looking for at least 200 words describing their history. This is their life, their family. Their upbringing. This is separate from their personality and their appearance. This is not their ambitions or aspirations, this is the story of their life and the story of their life being reduced to a mere few hundred words should not be able to give their life justice. We want a well-thought out character. Please remember, they do not have awesome special powers that nobody else has. We do need a few sentences on their first magic as well.
Is your character a Broom Racer? This applies if you are any of the four schools. Players with an already created NPC from can state that their iNPC is a broom racer. Your sport choice (broom racing, quidditch, dueling) for your NPC can be the same as your PC. This is a binary YES/NO.
Is your character a Quidditch Player? This applies if you are any of the four schools. Players with an already created NPC from can state that their iNPC is a quidditch player. Your sport choice (broom racing, quidditch, dueling) for your NPC can be the same as your PC. This is a binary YES/NO.
Is your character a Duelist? This applies if you are any of the four schools. Players with an already created NPC from can state that their iNPC is a duellist. Your sport choice (broom racing, quidditch, dueling) for your NPC can be the same as your PC. This is a binary YES/NO.
Stats: They should add up to what you can have for your year if you were human. So if you have a Veela player character, your NPC does get the full stats you would have had if you were human. Wins from games (quidditch, broom racing, dueling) by your player character or NPC are also applied to your other account.
Abilities: To be accepted they must be written out fully and approved. This is a full application.

Name: Sato Yura (first name, last name)
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: Headmistress
Status: Muggleborn

Appearance: Sato is about 5’3” with stern brown eyes and dark brown hair usually kept back. Her eyes hold a gleam of hope and love with a tinge of an old sadness. Her hands, a little wrinkled and calloused have become symbols of her hard work and perseverance. She is lean but sturdy, and often seen in formal or traditional clothing.

Image

Personality: Sato is a gentle soul. Due to her upbringing she may have not turned out the warmest of individuals, but she does care a great deal for others, especially her students. To her this means that she has to be a little stern or strict, but she is not entirely rigid with rules. A healer by nature, helping others comes automatically to the woman, and she seems wisened and aged not only because of her life’s experiences, but because of the things she gets to learn from her students. She likes to think she is funny, and sometimes cracks the occasional joke but is rather formal to most people. She is kind, but also rather closed off to others.

History:

Born an only child from a small fishing village off of the coast of Okinawa - Yura Sato (last name, first name) did not think that she would end up an educator, much more headmistress of a magical school. Partly because they could not afford it, and mostly because her parents needed all the help they could get to make a living. Neither of her parents were magical in the literal sense, but as kind and as caring as they were, always trying to provide the best life for her, they were as good as ethereal in her eyes.

When she first performed magic by untangling a mess of fishing nets in an instance of sheer frustration, her mother perceived it a blessing from the gods. The Yura matriarch believed she and her husband had been granted favor in the form of their blessed child. She felt as though their many offerings and prayers were answered, and her constant craving for dango during her pregnancy was a sign.

But they knew they had to hide her. Many people in their land could easily take advantage of young Sato, and should anything happen, they would have been powerless to stop them. So when the option to go to a magical school came, her parents could not have been happier. They supported her as she would be one of the few in the family to formally go and potentially finish school. Sato found it hard to leave her parents every day, but she told herself that this would be for her and for them. Maybe they could not have their own dreams, but they could have dreams for her and she for them. Perhaps she could give them a better life – the one they deserved.

As the years went by and Sato came to be top of her class in Mahoutokoro, she fully intended to become a healer and to go home and teach others like her. Perhaps she would also settle down and help improve their village. But alas, fate or perhaps the gods had other plans.

A typhoon washed over her village and her parents, part of the casualties. She had warned them that the water could get very high, and that the waves would surge across to the shore, but they were not prepared for the massive walls of sea water that came crashing down. No one could have predicted it would happen this way.

Stricken with grief, and with nowhere to go, once her parents were buried, she spent her days a recluse in Mahoutokoro. She was close to graduating then, mere months away from reaching her goal. But alas, she no longer had the heart to do it. It had been washed away with everything else she knew.

Every day, the old headmaster would visit her in her room, and they would sit together. She would pour tea, and they would sit there in silence until it cooled, and then he would leave. It took a week before either of them made an effort to drink any of it, a month before they exchanged more than a few words, and it took three months before she cried for her parents the for first time. She thought she could be strong, and that if she did not cry for them, she would not feel them gone. But she did, and it left a void inside of her that she did not know how to fill. When she was done, old and wizened as the old headmaster was, he asked her what she wanted to do. She looked him in the eye and said, "I want to do something. I do not know what, but I do."

So they went to pet the Storm Petrels, and fed them, and then they meditated together at the highest peak on the island. They did this every day. Soon she had graduated and most of her 20s were spent teaching at the school. When she felt she was ready, she spent some years traveling the world to study healing and teaching others as well. She went all around Asia before going to Europe, but well into her 40s, she felt the need to go home - home to Mahoutokoro.

Upon her return, the headmaster, aged and weakened by the years, could no longer do the things he could, so she was given the tasks to handle, as only she could accomplish the same feats he could. Finally, when he passed, he left her note, and in this note he said. "Go do something. Keep doing things. At some point, you'll know what you want to do."

At 50 years old, she became headmistress of Mahoutokoro, and has found home in the school ever since.

Abilities: Perfectionist II
Reducio
Hadashi had always been a perfectionist. Ever since he started at Mahoutokoro, he strived for perfection in everything he did. And whenever something d=didn't turn out perfect, a potion, or a spell, perhaps, he would always study what went wrong so that it NEVER did again.

One summer, his parents bought him a muggle video game, knowing how much me enjoyed puzzle games. One by the name of the Ace Attorney HD Trilogy. A game series in which you are a defense attorney, and have to find contradictions in people's testimonies to get them off the hook for murders they didn't commit.
While Hadashi enjoyed Phoenix Wright (his character) himself, he found himself far more drawn to the antagonists, namely Miles Edgeworth and Manfred von Karma. Perfectionists in every way. Though it should be noted that while he admired Von Karma's desire for absolute, utter perfection, and his record of 40 years without losing a single case, he did not approve of his cheating (and straight up illegal) methods. But his perfectionism, which bordered on a psychological NEED for it, was something Hadashi admired. This series pushed him to acquire even more control over his spells, and achieve a level of perfection he had originally thought unobtainable. Soon, none would be able to stand in his way. He had noticed that Shimizu-kun had also become more skilled. Perfect. When eventually he would graduate, he was confident in the dueling team with Shimizu-kun there. In fact, he may just elect Shimizu-kun as leader when he graduated... He would be leaving it in capable hands, for sure.

But, for the moment, they were in the most capable hands outside of a teacher. Himself. One who would stop at nothing to become the best.

Advanced Casting
Reducio
Hadashi was a studying fanatic. There was no question about it. As captain of the Dueling Team, he had to set an example. Which is why he always made sure his spells and technique were pristine. When he discovered that even the slightest change in wand position affected the quality of the spell cast, he spent hours upon hours experimenting until he found the optimal positions for spell after spell. He was confident by the end, that there had been improvements. And his father had even paid for lessons from a top-ranked Japanese duelist. His form was incredible by the end, and he found even himself impressed. His spell casting had noticeably improved. What an example to set for his team! And better still, this would look fantastic later down the line...

Then however, He came across a different book. One that stated that the technique and wand placement weren't everything. That your intent, belief, and conviction in your magic was important. To FEEL it flowing.
What a load of nonsense. The only thing that mattered was technique and poise, everyone knows that. But, Hadashi was never one to leave a stone unturned. So, he decided to try this.

And, to his shock, it DID make a difference.

He had no explanation for how, except for some contrived anime drivel about how believing in yourself is your strength. What, was the power of friendship going to strengthen his spells next? He made a silent oath that if he found out that it did, he would....do something. He was far too flustered at the nonsensical idea that "feeling" and "believing" made your magic more potent.

Hadashi was a logical person. To a fault. All this touchy-feely emotional rhetoric bollocks was not something he was good at. But, practice he did, until he got a feel for how it worked. Turns out, everything can be analyzed and implemented logically, to an extent.
He was sure this would be a source of both training, and increased power in coming duels.

They say that cheaters never prosper. But then, they also say -- बंदर क्या जाने अदरक का स्वाद, (what would a monkey know about the taste of ginger?)
Shamsi had long ago decided long ago that he would not to bother with what they say -- they tended to say stupid, conflicting things more often than not anyway -- and just do as he pleased, and deal with the consequences as and when they came.
And what he wanted to do most, in sport at least, was everything. He loved the thrill of it, the adventure and the adrenaline, the effort and the jubilance of victory. But Shamsi had long ago found that for the team, one role stood head and shoulders above the others in importance: the Seeker was the heart of Quidditch, and the most important plays happened there; so he worked to set himself up for the role. It was challenging, but ultimately unrewarding. Seeking felt so... removed. Like the Seekers were playing their own game, separate from the rest of the team, and over time his enthusiasm for the adrenaline-thumping broom sport began to wane. Seeking was pleasant, but games started to develop their own brand of routine monotone, and his enthusiasm for the game began to wane.

In his desperation to re-ignite his passion, Shamsi attempted Chasing and that is when he found it: the true joys of Quidditch. Yes, teamwork and being in the thick of plays were of course more entertaining than being a one-man game of hide-and-seek with the Snitch, but there was something else that caught his fancy -- "cheating".

Cheating does sound foul, but cheating was as traditional to broom sports as tea ceremonies were to the Japanese. After all, if cheating was really frowned upon, they would give cheaters the red card instead of mere penalty laps. And he could admit to himself that finding the right moments to make his ... "extra-legal" plays, in a way that neither the referee nor the opposition had any proof filled him with anticipation in a way that very few things could. He could Chase; playing for the ball and dominance in the air; but in a pinch he could also play the roll of a Beater or a Seeker -- ramming opponents off their brooms or pocketing the Snitch -- so long as he timed his plays exactly right. It was extremely challenging, but every time he managed to pull it off, it filled him with a sense of achievement.

They say cheaters never prosper. Shamsi says that's because they were never good at it the way he is.
