Dodge Spell
DISCLAIMER
This game is loosely based on dodge ball mechanics, you will require Flipendo and Verdimillious in your trunk in order to participate; those are first year spells and easy to obtain. Moderation will happen every 1-2 weeks.
Today marked the 7th of October and Flash and Alan had finally been able to make some time to plan a bigger game for the club they are hosting. For now they have chosen a twist on a rather famous game for kids, Dodge Spell to be specific. A rather silly sounding name in Alan's opinion but he had come up with it on the spot. Alan was aware that a article on this game, or their club rather, had been published not too long ago and had actually taken the page from the newspaper and placed it into the treasure box of memories.
For now, he and Flash were waiting for students to arrive and would then go on to explain the rules of the game. Alan hoped the game would go as smoothly as he desired it to go. He knew a lot of the games would turn out rather energetic, so he was glad they had enough prefects and older students around; both Flash and Alan would be able to somehow provide first aid if something were to go wrong and they could simply go and get a student to the Hospital Wing.
Alan also wondered whether he would see many of the older club members or whether there would be a lot of newer students. He had sent owls to all forty members of the club a couple of days ago, to announce the game to them so that they could schedule in some time for the afternoon.
Game InformationThere will be two teams, one is furthermore gonna referred to as RED whereas the other team will be referred to as GREEN. The goal is to eliminate the other team and be the last one standing. To do this you must "jinx" or "charm" the other team's players by hitting them. If you are captured, you are turned against your own team and join the other team. The red team can only attack with Flipendo and the green team is only allowed to attack with Verdimillious. Other spells that may be used (on teamed players only) are Reparifors.
- Anyone in the S.W.A.G club can join, if you want to join but aren't in the club yet, you can sign up through here
- Up to ten players (not including myself or Flash) may join, first comes first is the way we do this
- Always include your stats, abilities, allies and actions into your posts; this is for ease of moderation
- All site rules apply, we try to make use of the official duelling system but may use variations
- the game ends after a total of 15 rounds or if a winning condition is met
- If you have any questions, reach out to Flash Holmwood or me
Winning Condition: The team with the most people on their side by the end, or the last team standing, wins the game.
If your health drops below 10% at any point you are rendered unconscious and get removed from the game; in a way this is a fight between getting jinxed and charmed, red being the knockback jinx and green being the sparks charm. Tactic and team play is key. This game disallows any use of brooms or physical violence. Teams will be randomized but might get adjusted for balance. You can join by posting, the action for the first post would be "getting ready" or whatever.

It had been a well enough day. Not completely horrible, but nothing too special either. In fact it was mediocre at best when put into perspective. And you know what? It was perfect. As perfect as any grey day could be. There needed to be more days like this one. Not good. Not bad. Just purely monochrome. S.W.A.G was the cherry on top, for Xailah. The weather was absolutely perfect for a game. So as soon as she had the time; she gathered her S.W.A.G gear- her gear being her goggles, and wand- changed into her usual game getup; gathered her cat, and made her way to the grounds where the newest game was going to be held.
Two figures (which happened to be the only figures present at the time) were immediately recognize. Well, Alan was recognized fairly quickly. He had a rather specific hair color, red-brownish, like caramel. It aided in is identification. Admittedly, a second was needed to register who Flash was. Xailah nodded to both boys, tilting her head slightly in their general direction. Flash and Alan had become familiar faces- not quite friendly ones- Xailah was still trying to determine how she thought of them- just pleasantly familiar. After greeting the club leaders- more like acknowledging them, a nod could hardly be considered a greeting- the young metamorph made her way to a nice grassy spot she had spied when approaching the play field. Unless spoken to, or ushered away; she and Schrödinger would make themselves comfortable upon the patch of withering green.

Dialogue: Liana - #09621b
Mentioning: everyone present
So far, the first week of October seemed to be almost as action-packed as the entirety of September had been. First it was the Wargames event that got Liana pretty badly battered, then an encounter with enchanted humanoid pumpkins, and now an invitation for a game from a club she had just recently signed up to. When the unfamiliar owl dropped that piece of parchment into her lap in the Great Hall, the girl was almost certain that the poor bird just confused her with someone else; however, upon reading the contents of the note, she could barely contain her glee. A magical duelling-like game! There was no way she'd miss it. And so she skipped breakfast to hurry back to her dormitory and get started on the homework that was due on Friday - there was a fair chance she'd be hospitalized for a night due to the game, given how many older kids she knew would be attending; and that was completely fine, but it was no excuse to fail to turn in her assignments.
During her classes later that morning and noon the redhead experienced a rising wave of anxiety. She didn't know anyone in the club, did she? Were they a tight-knit group? How would the senior students react to having a first-year in their team? She could hardly focus through Charms, and barely heard a word in History of Magic, so preoccupied was her mind with creating scenarios of all the things that could go wrong. When the time for the actual event approached, the Slytherin was more worried than excited; there was still no way she'd be skipping a chance to cast spells at others, though.
Her heart pounding and her palms sweating, she arrived at the designated location. The sight of three older students already present made her stomach clench. She was not exactly good at interacting with upperclassmen. Adults were her preferred company, and the five weeks she's been at Hogwarts so far taught her to communicate with peers; teenagers, however, were just a bizarre hybrid of the two groups, far more prickly and unpredictable than either, and usually convinced that first-years were just like helpless cruppies, either needing protection or getting in the way, not worth paying much mind to and only deserving an offhand comment to better stay out of older kids' affairs. Which was likely true when speaking of the majority of first-years, especially the hapless Muggleborns some of which were still frightened of the magical world. Liana, however, felt she deserved more respect than that. After all, she was capable at spell-casting and could handle herself in stressful situations, and she spent her free time learning DADA spells that most of her peers couldn't dream of mastering. Still, she tended to receive the same treatment as every other new pupil, and that caused her to feel anxious and fearful of rejection in the company of upperclassmen.
As the redhead approached the trio that was already waiting, she nodded a polite greeting to them, not quite trusting her voice to stay at an acceptable pitch with all the nervousness she was feeling. The first-year imitated the only other female present by settling down on the grass some distance away from everyone else. She glanced over at the other girl, her gaze attracted by the sight of the pet. A cat! Liana wanted a cat. Or any pet, really. Their household lacked any familiars other than the mean owl that was there strictly for mail-delivery purposes. She hoped the little animal wouldn't get hurt by a misfired spell.

Del was excited, like always, for new things. She had joined this club last year to get herself more involved in things, maybe meet new people, but she had yet to join a game until today, it was exciting. Especially one based around spells, dels speciality. She absolutely sucked at riding a broom, she could barely do it at all, but spells she could do. She didn't win 2/3 duels last tournament for anything. Although a good part of her winning was her housemate's amazing strategies. No action yet
Either way, if del could do anything, it was cast spells. Along with her recent discovery of her ability to split them. She hoped that above all else, this would be fun, and she did imagine it would be, but she was soon to find out. She walked up to Flash and Alan, seeing Xailah and Liana a few paces away, and for a moment just stood there, looking out, waiting to see who else would show up.
She was thinking about all of her spells before she remembered that in this game, she could only use 3 of them... but she would use them to the best of her abilities, as always.

Henry had mixed emotions for that day. The third year joined the club last year as another way to help prepare himself for his duels and practice some fork of strategy but now that he was walking toward the field about to participate in a game he was feeling nervous and rather anxious.
Although he didn't show this, his emotions laid behind the 'barrier' as usual and his feline; Loki directed to tag along who sat on his right shoulder. The blue eye teemed looked ahead, there were some others that arrived. Taking a quick glance Henry saw that two are fifth years and one was a duelist... Henry shook his head as he saw a first year with them as well.
Wasn't she one of the ones Avery hangs around
The teen looked around as he approached the group. He heard that the game would involve two spells and for the most part rely on one's ability to dodge and aim. Henry took out his mayhaw wand from a inner jacket pocket and held it in his left hand, glancing at to as he hoped that the time he spent practicing his aim over the summer would be useful that day.
The teen looked around, he wasn't sure when they were going to start but to be on the safe side he would give a low whistle to his feline which indicated Loki to find another spot besides from his owner's should to perched.
The orange feline would leap from Henry's right shoulder and walk over to the ones managing the game, the feline would rub aginest Alan's legs and sit besides him. Watching the game with amber eyes.
Once he ensured the safely of his feline, Henry looked down and would softly smile at anyone who looked his way as he approached the first year. Looking at her wiry blue eyes as he nodded toward the girl and with a soft smile would softly say"good luck." The teen wondered how teams would be choosen and whose team he would be on, getting the opportunity to only cast flipendo sounds nice and he wouldn't need to worry about dodging the knockback jinx but only time will tell.

Mentions: Everyone PresentIt was about time River got out for some fresh air and physical movement. Luckily the start of S.W.A.G games would prove to be an excellent opportunity to get just that. Ever since the beginning of the school year, she’d been mostly inside, focusing on other things than her well being. Thinking about certain events that had occured, thinking about classes, upcoming year’s exams, so on and so forth. No space in her mind for any sort of exercise or nature walks to say the least. Of course when quidditch season was to start that would change drastically, but for now it was time to cast some spells on her schoolmates and friends on some field. She was excited to get some spellcasting practice in, as it could definitely be of help considering everything that could be going on at Hogwarts.
River hastily made her way through the castle to the grounds, Sir Little-Hoot on her shoulder, wand in hand. The cool air of autumn gave her mixed feelings. She enjoyed the colder darker seasons, but didn’t really look forward to the snow that might come with winter. She pulled down the sleeves of her woolen-sweater to cover her fingers as she arrived with the current group of people waiting for the game to begin. ”Heya Alan, good to see you Flash”, she greeted the two hosts as she approached, and nodded a greeting to all the other participants. River could only hope this game would prove to go as great as last time they had their first S.W.A.G game, though most of her previous ones hadn’t ended too well…ReducioAction: ArrivingRace: Dhampir

What in the world is S.W.A.G? Sometimes Women Are Gruesome or So, What Are Geese? Although the acronym was not a mystery as it was stated on the club sign up form, no one should expect Aurora to know it. This will be her first time participating in the game, with no idea whatsoever, all she knew was it had to do with hexing and dodging, and just like that, she was sold.
Familiar faces were seen upon her arrival, the cool person from the frog choir, the Ravenclaw seeker, the boy from the bicycle thing, and the chocolate Alakazam. She swore she met the other three, but couldn’t seem to remember where and when, probably in the hallway or random places. As Lucifur jumped out from her arm and poked the chocolate fairy’s leg, Aurora would wave excitedly at him. Then she heard the seeker greet the two boys, Alan and Flash. So his name is not Alakazam, but the ‘Ala’ was close enough, so that was a win. And Flash, can he run in the speed of light? Might be a good question for later.
Anyone close enough to where Aurora stood would be able to hear her muttering random words and she won’t stop until she gets the answer. That means, she will never stop. “Sushi Wasabi Almond Garlic, Salmon Wrap Are Good, Slugs Will Abolish Grumpiness, Someone Wants Another Galleons-“

Let's the Game, Begin!
Living and studying at Hogwarts is weird. Time travels differently at this school. Well, day and time still run the same. It still has day, dusk, dawn, and night. Cash just likes to be a bit dramatic from time to time. This particular day, Cash just enjoyed their breakfast before they head to their first class of the day.
The soft hoot of an owl that flew above their head called them upon. The green eyes looked up and at the same time, the school owl dropped something perfectly on their lap. The sight of owls always traumatized them. Ever since they received a Howler from their mother two years ago stating their father went missing on the job, Cash never looked owls the same again.
But just like ripping out band-aids, you got to do it fast so it hurt less. That is what Cash did towards the new arrival letter. Cash ripped open the letter and when the inside note telling there will be another S.W.A.G game, Cash breathe out relief. They continued eating their breakfast and went about their day.
After all the activities had gone for the day, it is time to put that spell-casting to good use. Well, Cash and spell-casting do not always go hand in hand but Cash is fairly confident with their spell-casting ability. And so after changing into much comfortable assemble, they marched towards the ground where the game will take place.
When they arrived at the ground, Cash greet both Alan and Flash with a nod of their head. Cash's green eyes then found Henry. They bounded up to him. "Hey, mate!"They greeted their close friend in French. "I do not know you in this club"They expressed while looking at the field. Some of the participants' Cash knew their name.
Their green eyes scanned the ground and they saw one girl that seems a bit out of place. They saw the girl before since both of the serpents share the same dorn. "Be right back"They said to Henry. With that, they walked towards where Liana positioned herself. "Hey!"They expressed to the first year.
Cash then took a seat beside her. It is not in their custom to make small talk with someone that Cash barely knew but Cash knows the feeling. The anxiety and nervousness when you enter a room with people you do not know. Cash looked at the red-haired girl. "You in Narcissa dorm, right?,"They inquired the other girl.
"I think I saw you around our dorm before. What is your name?"They asked Liana. Cash averted their eyes while waiting for the other students to arrive. "My name is Cassandra, Cash for short"They introduced themselves. "Look, I know you are nervous and everything. But you do not hat to worry about it"They told Liana.
"My advice, just took a deep breath and relax"They stated. "Your first S.W.A.G games can be brutal but at the end, all of us gather here to have fun. Remember that"They expressed as they stood up from beside Liana. "Good luck!"They said then walked back towards Henry again. When Cash arrived beside Henry again, Cash twirled their aspen wand on their left hand like how a drummer did.
"Do you reckon what we will play for today's game, mate?"They asked Henry while waiting for the other to arrive. This is their second chance to redeem themselves after that devastating loss from their last match during S.W.A.G games last year.

Flash, Alan, Delilah, River, Aurora, Liana, Cassandra, XailahStatisticsNot even Summer Camp had been safe. Hogwarts was rife with chaos, danger lurking around every corner, absolute unpredictability not only from forces outside, but those residing within. If there was anything that might help them blow off steam and shed stress, it was casting spells and playing games. Blessedly, SWAG encompassed this opportunity. When Pericles received word of the first game for the year, he had set his sites on it, allowing excitement to distract him from all those nasty lingering worries and woes. He arrived on the field in a deliberately chipper This Is Fine mood. A gloved hand was raised as he drifted towards the playzone, calling a cordial "Hello Flash; good to see you again, Alan!" Per the norm, the Ravenclaw was dressed plain yet practical, all black save the grey sweater for bonus protection against the chill of Scottish Autumn. His silvery eyes were deceptively sleepy as ever, lidded and lax, yet keenly considering each person present.
The lad perked upon spying Delilah, to whom he called with a budding grin, "Looking for extra Duel practice, Del? Dee would approve, though it isn't as if you need it." Not only was she a competent duellist, she was a fifth-year, with a wild array of spells in her arsenal. Without doubt she would prove to be an intimidating opponent. Ah, and another Ravenclaw, River! Peri sent an especially warm smile towards his housemate and fellow prefect, though his words were playfully sly. "You know River, if you enjoy SWAG, you might want to consider joining us on the Duel Team someday." Good thing Cecily wasn't around. The same offer might have gone out to Aurora, yet another eagle, though she seemed preoccupied with her attempts at deciphering SWAG. "Some Weird Acronym Game," Pericles offered helpfully as he passed her by. A flock of Ravenclaws; he was pleased with the turnout of blue tonight. SWAG was capable of bringing the birds out of their book nooks and study sessions.
It would come as no surprise to anyone that Pericles was gradually making his way towards a particular Gryffindor. This year, it seemed the Goth Kid Trio of Pericles, Xailah, and Meenauh was currently taken down to a duo. Their dear Meena was being homeschooled, chiefly due to the excessive amount of violence and misfortune that befell Hogwarts School of Cursecraft and Misery. The young wizard had been adopted by the girls in his first year. With one gone, the remaining pair stuck together more adamantly than before. Yet it seemed another was eyeing his target: Liana had her eye on Schrodinger. With a glance at the unfamiliar Slytherin, Pericles was capable of putting the pieces together, determining that she was surely a first or second-year. As he passed, he politely decided against acknowledging this, instead observing in his airy way "I haven't seen you at our games before. Would this be your first SWAG?" An encouraging smile from the drifting Ravenclaw. "I hope you'll enjoy it- my first game was rough, but plenty fun." Cassandra, her housemate, had clearly picked up on those telltale signs of a nervous newcomer: sitting alone, eyeing up the competition in silence. She had slid in with words of thoughtful reassurance, so the boy did not linger long, continuing on to his objective.
He hardly needed to utter a "hello" to Xailah. The BFFs spent enough time together in a day that greetings would have become wretchedly redundant by the afternoon, instead greeting her with that familiar smile and a spark in his eyes. He wanted to be prepared to leap to his feet, so he didn't settle comfortably into the grass, but perched on his heels at her side. Automatically his arms opened towards the magnificent mound of grey they called Schrodinger. "We learned a new spell in Defense class today," came the charged murmur, crackling with excitement. Nothing enlivened him quite like the acquisition of knowledge, especially the kind he could weaponize. "Shame, it doesn't sound as though I'll get to put it to use tonight...." Flipendo and Verdimillious? Basic, but at least it made those fifth-years a little less of a threat, evening the playing field... discounting skill.Summary: ArrivingReducioPerfectionist, Perfectionist II, Keen Eye

Scarlet had anything to do with the S.W.A.G club so far, other than signing up of course. Drawn in by the exciting events it promised and from what she had heard, the chance to get some duelling experience. Scarlet had been tempted by her houses own duelling team, but opted to give broom racing a go instead, so this might be the only chance she gets to practise her duelling skills, even if not in the most traditional ways.
Scarlet tried to figure out the specifics of the game they would be playing off the information she had gotten in an owl, she guessed it must be something with the potential to create some kind of chaos if they opted for an outdoor setting rather than a classroom, or anywhere else inside, but other than that she didn't really know what to expect.
As she got closer to the meeting place, she spotted a familiar face, or at least spotted a small orange cat jump from his shoulders and wander amongst the group of people already there. "Hey Henry!" she said to her friend, "didn't realise you would be here, should've expected it though given your interest in duelling."
She looked round the rest of the group for any other familiar faces, there weren't any, bar one. Liana Kerr. The two weren't on the best of terms, and given Scarlet's recent loss in their own house point competition, she wasn't exactly rushing to make amends, she would have to see how she felt after going through whatever the girl had planned for her. For now at least, she was looking forward to the possible chance of making up for that loss through whatever game it was they would be playing.
