Luna has a very...enthusiastic character, to put it simply. She's the sort of person who is curious about everything, who throws herself right into the thick of things without really thinking about it first. She's always striving to meet new people, learn new things and have more experiences. Sometimes, Luna almost tries too hard to have fun, that she forgets to actually have fun.

However, Luna is also incredibly hard-working, persistent and kind. She has a firm set of morals and never takes shortcuts. She thinks that if she believes she'll succeed and works hard enough, she will succeed. Of course, this sort of attitude has its downsides. Her perfectionist tendencies can make her stress out about little details that hardly matter. Luna often fixates on things as well, and doesn't stop until she's satisfied that fixation.

Luna is also rather scatter-brained. Whilst she pushes herself to work harder, her organisation skills fly out of the window, and she forgets to write anything down. Because of this, homework is normally handed in late. It's perfect homework, sure, but it's always late. And this doesn't just apply to organisation - Luna also has a habit of forgetting what she was saying mid-sentence, or daydreaming mid-conversation.

However, she tries her best. Luna always tries to do the right thing, and essentially, she's kind and brave - even if a lot of people find her pushy, or annoying, or overenthusiastic. Luna has a positive outlook in life, and she wants to always maintain it.

Luna hails from a South-Korean family, and has shoulder-length black hair and plain brown eyes. Luna frequently forgets to comb her hair, what with her rather scatter-brained mind, so you can often find it tangled and scraped hastily into some semblance of a ponytail. Her eyes wrinkle at the corners when she's smiling and happy, which is pretty often, and when she frowns, her eyebrows narrow together in a scruffy sort of way.

Luna has fair skin than sunburns easily, much to her discontent. She has a short stature - much shorter than her peers - which subjected her to light teasing at school, though Luna never took it too seriously. Her fingers are calloused from four years of violin playing, and the nails are often ragged and chewed.

Luna's style of dress is...odd, to say the least. When she's not wearing her Hogwarts uniform, she looks rather like a mismatched rainbow. Sometimes it's a yellow tunic dress with green leggings and red flats, like a traffic lights. Other times, it's an orange cardigan with a pink t-shirt and shorts. Though Luna is by no means fashionable, her outfit always brings some sort of brightness to someone's life.

Frederick Williams was wealthy. And he was the firstborn, heir to an affluent estate. And he was a pureblood.

Naturally, this made many other pureblood wizarding families consider sending off their eligible daughters to form a marriage alliance with the Williams family. Following tradition, Frederick picked the one from the most powerful bloodline and married her. A few years later, he inherited the estate, settled down and got to work producing heirs.

'Producing heirs' made it sound like a very droll job and it was. Frederick did not love the woman. And the woman - Harietta Evergreen - did not love him back. So one night, Frederick snuck out of the estate, stumbling to the nearest Muggle town, drunk and ready to find his true love.

Juliet Yang was technically a mistress, though the term was so outdated that no one used it in the Williams estate. Frederick took Juliet back to the manor with promises of riches beyond her wildest dreams. Juliet was living a simple life, and to have a handsome rich man declaring his love and promising her great things sounded like a fairytale. So of course, foolishly, Juliet accepted.

After a few months, Juliet realised she wasn't happy. Despite the magnificence of her new home, she found herself missing her family and friends. Harietta hated her. She was lonely. And she was certain Frederick was hiding something from her.

One night, she decided enough was enough. Sneaking into Frederick's study, she discovered all sorts of documents and letters, talking about witchcraft and wizardry and other confusing ideas. Frederick entered soon after, and entered a fit of rage. He kicked Juliet out of the house, but not before he swore her to secrecy.

Juliet returned to her old life, though she could never forget her experience with Frederick. And when her daughter was born, she refused to disclose who the father was.

Juliet moved to Chelsea and rented a council flat - Luna's childhood home. Luna grew up normally there, much to Juliet's relief. Nothing scandalous, nothing weird, nothing magical. Though Juliet's income was dangerously low, and though their budget was stretched as thin as a wire, Luna managed to have a happy normal childhood. She went to school. She made friends. She did work and excelled in her subjects. She played tag in the playground at breaktime and came home and did her homework.

However, there was a tiny little hiccup. From a young age, Luna was odd. Not magically odd, thank goodness, but just odd. Her fashion sense was weird. She rambled about weird things. She did weird dance moves in the school halls. This subjected her to quite a bit of bullying, and she never made any real friends, just acquaintances who were borderline nice to her. Juliet was too busy stressing about money to notice, and Luna didn't want to trouble her when she could deal with the problem herself.

- first instance of magic -

"Loopy Luna," laughed the boy in front of her.

Luna was sitting on a bench in the playground, in the cool shade of a bush, reading a book. The book, in this case, was the Oxford English Dictionary. Tag was getting exhausting and Luna needed a break.

"What?" asked Luna, not bothering to look up from her book. Geographical - adjective. Based on or derived from the physical features of an area.

"You're reading a dictionary at break!" The boy laughed and beckoned his friends over. They were more average ten-year-old schoolboys.

"And what if I am?" asked Luna, turning to the next page. Geothermal - adjective. Relating to or produced by the internal heat of the earth.

Another boy sniggered. "If you haven't noticed - though duh, you haven't - that's weird."

Luna honestly could not be bothered by this today. Her mood shifted easily, and some days, she would be furious, marching over to teach those boys a lesson. Other days, she didn't care, and didn't want to inconvenience her mum with a bad behaviour mark from the teacher. So she flicked her hand out at the boys to get them to go away.

There was a yell, and the boys weren't in front of her anymore. They had been pushed solidly back to the edge of the playground. Luna gaped at what she had done. How was that possible? Did a freak gust of wind come just in time, syncing perfectly with her hand flick? She slammed shut her dictionary as the bell rung for her next lesson.

When Luna recalled the events of the afternoon to her mum, she screamed.
