Hogwarts Summer Camp 2021 Chess Combat (Match 3) Closed

In a grand crossfire, the other team aimed for Starlee. Even though they were nemeses, Piper flinched as Starlee's spell sailed past her target and she was brutally knocked out. They were picking the Vipers off, one by one, Piper's other voice whispered before being drowned out with more denial. She moved to the side, next to the other boy Hanako. He seemed to be bantering around with the others, and Piper was slightly concerned for her safety in the event of hostile retaliation. Fortunately, she was out of reach of the other side (for now).

There were certainly some victories, no matter the size. Opeila hit the other queen with a brilliant Incendio, and Piper did not try to hide the smile creeping across her face. There were only a few rounds left, but things were slowly looking up.

ROUND 12

There wasn't a ton of spell casting that occurred this round. Just a lot of ring around the rosie. Except no one was moving in circles. They were just kind of... moving. Opeila attempted to cast Incendio Duo at Roberta would was fully recovering from the awful curse of the bogies. While her spell was successful, Roberta expertly dodged around the flame. Speaking of flames, Piper attempted to quell Hanako's flames licking at his robes. She was successful in preventing more damage happening to him, for now.

Hanako and Yefim ended up in a small strength check. But poor Hanako never even stood a chance. Willow couldn't help but shudder at the memory of Yefim at Saint Mungo's all that time ago. She almost wanted to jump down and help Hanako, but she restrained. Enzo moved to C5, and Greta moved to B3. The duel was slowly coming to an end, and it wasn't looking good for the Slytherin's.

Being set on fire, and pushed to the ground. Rockie #5 Yefim tooootally lost hot points. Hanako wasn’t even going to question why he had to lose against him. Hanako could fight with a squirrel for that cell block and he’d still lose. But that's due to the lack of desire to push his limits, especially when it comes to strength. To which he would say there was already a limit, and it passed quite a while ago. #Noodle arms.

“ Really just couldn’t wait to get closer to me, could you?” Hanako said while dusting off the dust on his clothes from the earlier tussle. Well, at least his clothes weren’t burning anymore. He gave Piper a quick nod to show his gratitude. No one likes to smell like burned clothes. Ew. Not even his cute face could save him from that.

The Vipers' positions were more than inconvenient but so far they had at least managed to shield Piper. This was until Hanako was too slow and the Durmstrang boy took the spot right in front of Piper instead. Opeila decided not to comment, but couldn't have Hanako moved faster? Was that really so hard?

The queen might have moved out of line of Greta's attack, but not for long. Although very tempted to stay put and continue slinging spells towards the raven haired girl, especially to avenge the damage that had been done to her queen, Greta knew the victory of the match would be more securely obtained if they could take out the opposing team. Plus, if she could get into a position that would allow her to split her spell... she could make up for lost opportunities. And that is exactly what she aimed to do.

Quick on her feet, the little Norwegian ducked and dart forward on an angle. It seemed she wasn't the only one with repositioning in mind. Just as she moved, so too did two of her other teammates. Yefim had to contest for his square, but he was a level of strength that few could contend with. The pretty boy on the other team was no exception. Easily out-matched, Yefim claimed his square, putting him in a prime position to take another shot at the queen while also limiting her options for movement and escape. Fortunately for Greta, she did not have to battle it out physically for her square and slipped easily onto the tile, ready to square off against the queen.

"UGH," Roberta would complain as she gave her nose one last honking blow to clear the last of the vile snot stored within it. Thankfully she was no longer cursed, but at least she had nobody to blame for it but herself. Lifting her eyes to see what all she had missed during her episode, Roberta witnessed an entirely different field of battle than the one she had closed her eyes on but she couldn't help but feel like something wasn't right. Sensing incoming danger, she moved her body just enough to dodge a streak of flames as it whizzed past her face and scorched the playing field behind her. How lucky.

"Rude!" She called across the battlefield to her opportunistic assailant. The girl seemed like a creeping affliction. The kind who attacked their foes unaware were without honor, so Roberta would think that to attack her at her most vulnerable was less than sporting. When faced with a dishonorable opponent, she had been taught that a warrior had two choices. Fight with dignity and maintain the high ground, or sink to their level and fight fire with fire. If it wasn't clear which kind of person Roberta was, then the Viridian Vipers were going to be taught a lesson in vindication soon enough. She returned her attention to Enzo, Greta and Yefim. None looked worse for the wear yet her heart ached for the loss of Lovanna.

To her it would seem that her team had done well in keeping her enemies on their toes while she was out of commission. This duel had turned into a bitter struggle against time and in such moments it was important to envision victory. Even if only to will it into existence. "Let's give them something to remember us by," she said aloud with a persevering nod in their direction. The time for posturing was nearly over. Readying herself, Roberta prepared to fire back a spell of her own, but was it Pei she was coming after now or did her original quarry still vex her? "Qui vivra verra," They who live, shall see.

[font=Monotype Corsiva]With one step forward Enzo stood diagonally behind Yefim, ready to back him up at any given moment. Conveniently for them, they were standing right across from Miss worm queen. He bitterly glared at her, hoping that having two handsome lads stare her down may distract her enough to let them finish the rest the worms off for good.

This was it, the last few spells before their win was secured.

Oh, Piper did not like this positioning one bit. Everyone was too close, too in range... she was a Slytherin; there would be no giving up. However, doubts had been tugging at her mind for the entirety of the round. In the last few, the voice had grown more prominent. At least she successfully healed Hanako; she could do something right. There was admittedly a certain satisfaction in providing assistance beyond just staying conscious. The brute manhandled his way to the square directly by Piper; she eyed him from the side. Right in front of her stood another girl, and behind Yefim had stood yet another person - the annoying one who had called her a Serpent Queen.

What a glare-fest.

As Piper didn't have six pairs of eyes and would have definitely looked like a moron attempting to look at everyone, she simply cocked her head and tensed, mentally preparing herself for whatever might come next. There was a good chance it wouldn't be very savory.

ROUND 13

THE iNPC TEAM WINS!

Lydia kept her eyes glued to the chessboard, as she noticed that Piper was open to attacks from Greta, Yefim and Enzo. Even though the situation for the Viridian Vipers wasn't the best, they still fought with everything they had. Too bad that the endless streak of bad luck kept hunting them: Opeila was determined to set Roberta on fire, so she aimed her wand at her and cast Incendio Duo, but the flames came out of the back of her wand, and the young Slytherin robes caught fire, dealing -108 HP damage, and would stay aflame for the next round. Hanako also had no luck, as his flipendo, that was originally directed towards Yefim, backfired and hit him hard, dealing -162 HP of damage, while the last flames that were still alive dealt an additional -60 HP.

Opeila and Hanako weren't the only ones betrayed by their own wands; Yefim tried to cast the slippery jinx on the floor under Piper's feet, but something went wrong, and he slid on the floor and fell to the ground. Roberta had a little bit more luck, and her Incendio Duo was successfully cast, even though Hanako easily dodged it. Enzo and Greta were the only ones hitting their targets, and with that they changed the course of the game. Greta had aimed her wand towards Opeila, and her Knockback Jinx not only successfully hit the girl, sending her one cell back, but it also hit Piper, dealing quite a lot of damage, and leaving the Slytherin Queen barely standing. Enzo had set his eyes on Piper as well, now that there was an opening in the Viridian Vipers' defence: he also decided to cast Flipendo towards her, his jinx flying right for her and hitting her on the shoulder.

The damage the spell dealt to her was enough to render the girl unconscious, and Lydia quickly moved to stop the duel. "Everybody, cease the spells!" she said as she looked at the remaining players, as Piper was safely removed from the board. "The Viridian Vipers' Queen is unconscious, this means that they have lost the duel. Congratulations Guest team, you have won!" she said and smiled, "Thank you all for taking part in the game, and for playing in a fair way! And congratulations once again to our guests for winning this game!" as she spoke, Lydia gestured towards Greta, Yefim, Roberta and Enzo, before she started clapping. Sure, she was sad that the Hogwarts team had lost, but the guest team had done a really good job, and their strategy had paid off, so she couldn't ignore that and choose sides. The match had been incredible, and the Slytherin team had done a good job as well, too bad that luck had completely turned its back on them.
