It would have been an understatement to say that it had just been a confusing week for Camille. He had never been good at adjusting so where he was now in a completely new place with almost no familiarity, it truly was quite stressful. He found the school fascinating and the classes to be wonderful but adjusting himself to everything was very tiring on the small Ravenclaw boy. He missed his small quiet home back in Kenmare and the stories Miss Ariya would tell him while they had a nice cup of tea. He missed seeing her friendly smile and how she would work on little crafts with him, in a sense he was feeling quite homesick.

He decided that to take his mind off things he would sit and daydream somewhere. He wanted to go outside somewhere because he knew that if he was home Miss Ariya would be telling him how he needed some air and needed a bit of sun because he was far to pale. He decided he would go out into courtyard because he found it to be quite fascinating. The architecture and nature creeping in was quite beautiful to him. He had quickly made his way there and noticed that there were a few students around and number just passing through but that was fine by him.

He found a corner relatively far away from everyone else but still in the sun. He carefully sat down, making sure he wouldn't sit on poor plants or small bugs. He held his bag close to his chest as he leaned back against the surprisingly cool stone and looked up towards the sky. He twiddled with his locket as he tried to think of how the rest of the year would go. He just wanted everything to go well but he just couldn't help but have his doubts. What if he failed all his classes, or he didn't actually make any friends, or it was just like his old school just, well, magical. He just really hoped everything would be perfectly fine. He sighed slightly, his head now swirling with a million thoughts.

─────Maggie was no stranger to overwhelming environments and managing such. In fact, she enjoyed the big stuff. She liked the school, how truly big and vast it was. How the castle jutted out of the beautiful Scottish countryside like a beacon, a palace of hopes and dreams and years to come. The history of the place, rich with knowledge, drew Maggie in as she'd never experienced. Honestly, she hadn't the faintest idea who Harry Potter was (only that he was, like, in prison or something now), but the very concept that someone from this world could be famous just like the muggle movie stars? Wonderful.

Not that Maggie was desperate for fame. She totally wasn't, what a ridiculous assertion.

Still, the courtyard was solace. Pretty place, with plants and beautifully sculpted columns of stone, rising from the earth like Stonehenge. For wizards. Was Stonehenge itself for wizards? Looked magic enough.

A good way to get away from it all, let out those stressors and the overwhelming energy of a million students milling about the castle at any given moment. Maggie thought she'd seen more people today than she'd ever seen in her own hometown.

One thing Maggie was not was subtle. Or respectful of personal space, really. So when she saw poor, poor Camille Asher sitting all by his lonesome? Free real estate!

Maggie flounced over to him and sat herself down at his side without so much as a 'hello'. "You look like a ghost. Anyone ever told you that?" Launched right in, yapping about as if she'd known this kid her entire life. "Looks like you've seen a ghost."

She observed his face, the way he looked both serene and frightened for this big place all at once. "Really, though, I can't fathom why you'd be out here all alone, kid. Plenty of people to talk to, if you ask me," regard for personal space aside, Maggie reached over to tug on the sleeve of Cam's robes. "Ravenclaw, look at you! I haven't really met many of those so far."

It had been a rather quiet time sitting by himself till he felt something or someone get close. He let out a tiny squeak of fear as the peace and quiet was suddenly interrupted by a very loud voice. He quickly looked in the direction of the voice to see a girl about his age going on about something he wasn't quite sure. He wondered if the girl had mistaken him for someone else but yet again she could just be a lot more social than he was. As he tried to listen to what she said he decided the second option was what was going on and that she was just super outgoing and social.

He flinched slightly as the girl suddenly grabbed his robes and then commented on his house. He looked over at the girl's robes, to see a brilliant green which gave away that she was a Slytherin. Cam had never been great at talking but he figured the situation would only be even more awkward if he didn't say anything. "You... you're a Slytherin r... right?," he managed to stutter out, not super sure where to go with the conversation. " I um.. I don't know m...many Slytherins either. But um... can I help you?" He still wasn't sure why she had come up to talk to him, people didn't usually just go out of there way to interact with him.

He could only assume she wanted something and he only assumed this because of his past experiences with people. There were plenty of people around to talk to talk to so it just confused him. He was sure that she probably didn't have any malicious intent but his nerves were getting to him and they did tend to cloud his judgement. He fiddled with his locket and straighten his robes out slightly, looking back up at the girl who had decided to talk to him.

─────Maggie didn't come with any ill intent. Normally. Occasionally, she'd show up with the sole purpose of irritating someone, making them feel bad. Drop a couple of crappy compliments and watch them trip over their laces like an idiot. Today, though? Today she was mercifully kind. If you could use that word, that is.

Camille Asher was curious. He was quiet, one of those introverted types. Wasn't hard to decipher. He was quiet, looked nervous when Maggie got too close. Almost looked frightened of her, the way he flinched away from her touch and stuttered.

Honestly? Maggie didn't much mind.

"Oh, yeah. I'm Slytherin. World's best house!" Not biased whatsoever. Biased? Maggie? Absolutely not! How could you suggest such a thing! "The rumors about us aren't true. Is that why you don't know many Slytherins? You think we're evil?" On the last word, Maggie wavered her voice, outstretched her hands, and wiggled her fingers in a dull caricature of a ghost.

Lively. No pun intended.

Maggie leaned back, very nearly falling over the wall she sat on until her hand shot out and slapped with a dull 'whap' against the stone. "I just wanted to pay you some company. That a crime?" Camille looked way too lonely. Way too sad. "No offense, really, but you look like you don't have many friends."

It would be an understatement to say this Slytherin girl was a bit peculiar. He didn't even know her name yet already she started a conversation like they had known each other for years. He move slightly away after she asked if he thought Slytherins were all evil. Not particularly because of what she said but more less what she did while she did it.

He jumped slightly when she smacked her hand against the tough stone. Surprised by the first thing she said after and not nearly surprised as to what she said right after. People never wanted to actually hangout with him so this was a new experience for him. He wasn't particularly surprised about the part where she said he looked like he didn't have many friends. In fact, he was pretty sure he had never had a friend in his life. Of course, not that he would admit that to anyone.

"N...No I suppose it's not a crime to want to hang out with someone. And m...maybe you're right about me not having m...many fr... friends," he told the girl quietly, looking down at his hands as he fiddled with his robes. " And I d... don't think Sly... Slytherins are evil. I don't think a... anyone is actually e... evil." It was actually true to, he didn't think anyone was truly evil. He believed everyone could be good, even if others did think he was rather naive for thinking so.

If it wasn't obvious, Cam very good at conversations but he thought he probably should at least know the Slytherin girl's name. " Um if you d... don't mind me asking, c...can I know your um n... name."

─────Jerky and fearful. If asked, those were the words that Maggie might use to describe the enigma she was coming to know as Camille Asher. He seemed skittish as if frightened of even the slightest movement. Reminded her a bit of a mouse, really. The sound of Maggie's palm smacking stone was hardly any cause for concern or worry, but Camille Asher jumped as if he'd been the recipient of her strike.

Curious.

"I didn't tell you?" Funny. Maggie could've sworn that she'd given this boy her name. "I'm Maggie. You can call me whatever you'd like, though, I mean, what's really in a name, after all?"

Quite a lot, if you asked some students. The way Maggie saw it, a name was just an identifying measure. If you really didn't want to, you didn't even have to have a name at all. Which seemed a bit silly, looking back in hindsight, but Maggie often didn't think about the things she chose to say.

It showed, quite plainly, she thought.

"That just raises quite the moral question, though, doesn't it? You don't believe anyone is really and truly evil. Very well, except for the question; is that true, though? Nobody's evil?" Maggie spoke as if she didn't have to breathe. As if taking a singular breath might be detrimental or otherwise unbecoming of her. She spoke as if a gun were put to her head and she had been told that she had two minutes, tops, to say her last words.

Unfortunately, no gun was against Maggie Hawkins' head. She was just like that. "So then you have to wonder... do you really think nobody is truly evil or is that some morality thing you've got going on in your own head?"

Ethics and morality. What fun!

It wasn't often someone peaked young Camille's interest but in this moment the girl sitting in front of him made him quite curious. At least he finally knew her name. Maggie. I nice name he personally thought, a lot less embarrassing to say than his own. Of course, the Slytherin girl didn't seem to care much about names from the way she talked. " W... well it's um nice to m... meet you Maggie. I'm um Cam..." He managed to stutter out, using his nickname instead of his actual name. He didn't particularly feel like being made fun of, not that she would but he was to anxious to take a risk.

The next she said though, was definitely something that peaked his interest. Of course, he had to go over what she had said a couple of times because he was pretty sure she hadn't breathed once the whole time, which did concern him slightly but that was a question for another day.

In his heart, he truly didn't believe anyone was completely evil. He believed everyone had at least a little good inside of them. He wasn't sure why he thought that, he just did. The mind was an odd thing that he would probably would never understand. Not that it really bothered him to much but oh well.

" Well I truly believe no one is c... completely evil. I th... think people can be evil b... but I don't believe th... they're completely evil. I th... think everyone can be g... good if they want to b... be. I don't know why I think th... that but I do," he told Maggie, deep in thought as he did. His mind did have a tendency to wander when he started thinking. It was both a blessing and a curse. He considered it more of a curse but his caregiver said he shouldn't always think so negatively.

─────Morality was something Maggie scarcely thought about when it came down to it. She didn't consider herself to be a particularly moral person, honestly. Sure, she knew her rights from her wrongs and she knew obvious things. She just didn't really care, honestly. Which sounded horrible, wow, wow, but it wasn't as if Maggie really and truly meant harm.

Just had a big mouth and no filter.

"That is fair, I suppose. I guess that nobody's really born evil, are they?" Camille made a fair point. How could someone be born truly evil? Did babies come out of their mothers entirely good or entirely evil? "I think human beings are just born. Y'know? They're born human. Humanity isn't necessarily good or evil, if that makes any sense at all. It's just human. Or whatever," Humanity, in itself, was just human. It wasn't good or bad, it wasn't yes or no, it wasn't black or white.

It just was.

Or maybe Maggie was looking too far into the subject. Maybe this all didn't matter and it never would. Maybe she was just talking to another student about anything under the sun.

It was more fun to believe they were having deep, philosophical conversations in the Hogwarts courtyard.

"You got classes to go to, kid? Or do you just sit out here all day, looking all existential and sad?"

Camille listened intensely to what the girl in front of him said. It would be an understatement to say Cam was just a little frightened by her loud personality and somewhat lack of personal boundaries. Of course though, he was enjoying the conversation and was quite curious with how Maggie looked at things. Despite his timid nature, his curious personality was what kept his sitting in his spot. If it wasn't for that, he would have probably fled faster than a mouse being chased by a cat.

He nodded his head along with what she said, thinking about every little word. Humanity truly wasn't good or evil, no one was born one way or another. People are influenced by their environment and what they do. In the end though, everyone starts in the grey area, plus, good and evil could be subjective sometimes.

He was quite happy with the conversation until it took a turn. He should of saw it coming though to be completely honest. " I um go to the sc...school so y...yes I go to classes. And this is j... just how I l... look," he answered quietly, fiddling once again with his locket. Camille had never exactly been known for being a happy, upbeat person. He either looked sad and existential, half asleep, or scared for his life. He did smile occasionally, but it was extremely rare for people to see it.

" H... how about you? Do y... you go to classes or j... just strike up con... conversations with str... strangers all day," He stuttered out, attempting to tease in a way but it didn't come across that way at all. Of course, most of his conversations were just him being a stuttering mess. Of course, he didn't have many conversations but that's beside the point.

─────Well, no, Maggie didn't mean anything rude by it! Honest! She was just being observant. Which was a good habit to get into, by the way. Being observant. She observed that Camille looked kinda sad and dismal and depressed, which sucked for him, yeah, and she had just wanted to know whether or not he constantly looked like that. Not to be rude, of course. She never meant to be rude! Obviously!

Except for when she did. Which was not right now.

But Camille Asher bit back! Had a bit of spunk to him, a bit of spice and fire and bite. Maggie liked that. He seemed so calm and tranquil and zen on the outside, but on the inside? Maybe this kid was a tiger, ready to leap out. Tear through enemies and topple empires. Or something cheesy like that, Maggie didn't know. Maggie didn't really care, either.

"Got a little bit of pushback in you, huh?" Maggie laughed, sitting back as far as she possibly could without falling over the edge of the wall she had planted herself on. "No, I do not go to classes. Obviously. I spend all my time sneaking up on unsuspecting victims and trying to freak them out super bad. And you," she held up a single finger, right in the center of her face, at the tip of her nose. "Are my latest victim."

Ha! Got him! Maggie was powerful, yes she was. Danced with devils, that girl.
